Aisuru is the best«bang for your buck» sushi in town. They always have deals on sushi as well as drinks(buy a large beer, get a free saki, etc.) during the week. They do «half rolls» which turns out to be a great deal if you want to try a little bit of everything. Their hand rolls are delicious, my favorite is the Cali Girl Roll. Ashley is awesome, she is always so sweet and attentive to my boyfriend and I. They get pretty busy during the weekends but always accommodate!

Good food, but they only ever have one chef so the food takes FOREVER! The other staff are also very unfriendly and don’t pay much attention to you. We waited an hour for our sushi which nothing even had to be cooked. Very very disappointed. Also another family with two small children got so frustrated they just got up and left. So it wasn’t just us. The restaurant wasn’t even at ½ of the capacity it could be.

They have odd pricing on their menu, they claim hand rolls are half off, but what you gt is a $ 4.50 hand roll. Small and not of high quality. Filled with students. Much better choices in town. I had the salmon skin roll and the yellow tail roll. The yellow tail roll was just a tiny piece of fish, rice and a chewy rap, nothing else. It was dry and bland. A California roll from Traders Joe’s is more exciting.

The food was very good overall! The only bad comments I have is the weird taste in the water and the miso soup was waaaaay too salty…

They have a new«Gluten Free» menu that is not celiac friendly, yet another gf place because it’s trendy. The sushi chef was very accommodating and staff was very friendly and helpful. It’s possible to customize rolls to avoid gluten but options are limited. The crab is fake so not an option. If I’m in the area and really craving sushi I’ll go again but it’s not worth going out of my way for.

Updating since my last review. As it is very convenient to the downtown area, I’ve since gone into Aisuru Sushi for two evening meals. The food was excellent! The service was very good and quite attentive. This is an improvement from my first review. In fact the only reason I’m not giving five stars is because of the crowd noise. This is NOT the proprietor’s fault. There have been lots of Cal Poly students in there having a good time, and obviously having some really good sushi. My previous review was actually replied to by the management and my issues seem to have been addressed. So, to follow up on a luke-warm posting, I would recommend this for some fine eating. If you are looking for a quiet place to have an intimate meal, this may not be your spot, but otherwise a great place to eat.

They got some good sushi rolls up in here, thank you to my cousin for showing us where the good stuff was at. She comes in here all the time, they know her by name. Had me some spicy tuna rolls and a dragon roll I think and they were awesome. My cousin even got us some fried tea ice cream I think is what it was called? Not a big tea fan, but ice crean with hot stuff on it was very good. This place can get pretty loud with all the students from Cal Poly showing up after 6. I will be ready to go back with a new hunger when the time comes, BONZAI!

The food is good, but the service is hit or miss. There are many Japanese resuraunts in the downtown area, and this is the most casual.

I have been here twice in the last two weeks. I alway walked by it forgetting it was here when on my way to see a movie at the Fremont. I love sushi places that put big photos of the rolls on them to make ordering easy piesy. Sure I can read ingredients and know if I’d like a roll but pictures are just so much better. I ordered to-go each time, but the inside is nice and simple. Wood tables and a sushi bar. It seems like it could get quite loud here but if you take it to-go it’s always fine. I’ve had about 7 rolls so far and each one was as described, loads of flavor variety, fresh tasting fish, and never too heavily fried or cooked(when applicable). The service has been fantastic with the servers always polite, offering water, extra condiments, etc. This place is easy to pass up but each time I have been I am glad I remembered it was here.

Good sushi for the price! Obviously there are better sushi places in town, but I love their half price deals. Basically, half a roll for half the price. They list it as 6 pieces(regular has 8), but they cut them so thin that it’s basically half a regular roll. But it’s a nice option for more variety. Servers were nice and attentive, granted it was a slow Monday evening.

I love this place for two of my fav sushi: unagi and salmon. The salmon is the best I’ve eaten in SLO and keeps me coming back here again and again. I really like the way they cut it– length wise instead of width so you get this long, delicious«tail» on each piece. Not only that, but it won’t break the bank either. Best time to go is during the mid-afternoon lull. My most recent take-out visit was a little iffy though when I found that whoever made the unagi order shaped the rice into oddly circular balls and put katsubushi on top. I am all for katsubushi(or in this case, it was probably bonito flakes) but not particularly on my unagi. No big deal, it was still good, just not expected when I ordered plain 2-piece sushi a la carte.

This was a pitstop on a long drive from Santa Barbara to the Bay Area. If you spend over $ 12 here, you get free edamame, miso soup and ice cream. That sounds awesome and easy but you’d be surprised – their ½ priced sushi makes it pretty hard to reach that point. I had the cheesy golden California roll(or something to that effect), which was basically a California roll deep fried with cream cheese inside, topped with eel sauce. HEAVEN. Also got salmon sashimi, tasted fairly fresh. Plain California roll was good as well. Friends both got sushi and loved it all. Finally, I ordered a bowl of spicy ramen. It was okay, but I would recommend that you stick to the sushi offerings. I wouldn’t get their ramen again. Service was attentive, the place was fairly clean, and you can’t beat the price factor. Would go if I’m ever in the area again.

My favorite place in the whole wide world. I love the fact that they wear black uniforms. Very professional. Noticed some new faces(east on the eyes ;))working recently. Customer service is still top notch. Music is always on par, tell them it’s your birthday and its a blast. Enthusiastic and awesome Daily deals are awesome! Way to go buddies.
