I do not understand the guacamole here. It’s a very smooth consistency-like a green pudding. Really turned me off my meal. Re-fried beans also looked and tasted peculiar. Mine were an odd, dark burnt-orange color. Still, it was very busy and very crowded inside, which made for a not so clean feeling. Sorry. I hate to say it, but it seems this place is skating by on past ratings and large portions. Lots of food does not mean good food, but people seem to just love this place. The people who work here are very friendly despite the mad rush, which seems to be constant.

Pericos has a couple of locations in the East Bay and I am a fan. I live closer to their Dublin location and used to frequent it. However I was inside and nearly run over by a car that crashed through their building one night in 2014 and haven’t been back. Nothing against them or their food, it’s kinda a superstitious thing. I just don’t want to tempt fate multiple times. However this location is as good and works for me when I want to pick up a burrito to bring the A’s game. It’s very close to the San Leandro Bart station, which is the station I usually use to go one stop to the Coli. Their food is legit and not expensive. Service is fast, too, and the cash register is very far from the street so I feel safe LOL.

Nachos galore! So much food and authentic chips for super heap $ 6!!! Get a smoothie too, they use authentic fruit from the market next door! I used to come here multiple times a week and was never disappointed.

I don’t care how great the food is here because I never got to try one because their customer service is horrible. They should have told my husband not to even bother placing the order! My husband called in an order for pick up. I am not from this town so I accidentally went to the wrong location.(There are 3!) I asked the cashiers what the other address is and no one knows. I call the other place and they don’t have my order either and they don’t even have the 3rd places phone number. I finally found it and Even though the other place was only 4 blocks away, it took me 15 mins to find parking! And at this point I’m REALLY starving. When I get to the cashier, he tells me that because it’s a large order the policy is to wait until the customer arrives in order to make the food! I could have just ordered our food at the first place I went to but I thought my order was ready here! Big disappointment and waste of time. I was so mad and famished so I just left and went to McDonald’s.

Had the carnitas enchiladas and they were very good. Came out a little hot so I had to wait a bit to eat them. Also tried the chile relleno which was one of the best I have had. Very busy but a great place to eat.

Quick, easy, affordable and delicious. Excellent selection of salsa and great house made chips. Giant portions, too. I’ve had four or five different items and everything has been just right. A regular spot for me at lunch. I’ll be back!

Cute little taqueria in San Leandro. Nothing negative to say about it besides the chips were stale – could’ve been an off day. I loved their chilaquiles(breakfast is served all day!) I definitely recommend eating here if you’re in the area.

It’s totally hit or miss with this” chain” of restaurants/markets. If you want average Mexican food go here or any of their restaurants. They don’t specialize or serve a regional favorite in any of them. Don’t get me wrong, if your hungry its«fine» but that’s that.

Ordered a chicken super burrito. Almost broke my tooth eating it at home. Pulled out a piece of what turned out to be like a 4 inch piece of chicken leg bone. I called and they apologized. Whomever the cook is needs to pay attention. The food was good but this was a really bad experience and it smelled like wet rag/mop in there when entering from the side entrance. I’m super disappointed about the bone. I was only half way through eating couldn’t finish it, I was worried there could be smaller bones I could choke on. I’m sad cuz it was good up until the bone… –__–

Taqueria Los Pericos is a Mexican restaurant located in downtown San Leandro, not far from Davis Street. San Leandro is noted for having a number of «old school» shopping malls, such as Pelton Center(location of Taqueria Los Pericos), Palma Plaza(also on East 14th Street), and the Marina Mart shopping center located at the intersection Marina and Doolittle. Thus, my first reason for liking Los Pericos, is that it is located in an «old school» shopping center, where glitzy franchise businesses are in a distinct minority. Please note that I went to middle school at John Muir Junior High School and, after that, to Pacific High School, during the 1960s. DECOR. Los Pericos is distinguished by its mural with paintings of about 40 parrots, which wraps around the room. The mural is quite colorful, and the artwork is of professional quality. Some of the birds seem partially hidden behind the painted foliage, and thus it is amusing to try to count the number of birds, because each time you count, you get a different answer. There are three models(sculptures) of parrots, and these sit on swings that are mounted on the ceiling. There is a centrally-located buffet table, which has traditional condiments, that is, marinated carrots, onions, sliced jalapenos, salsa, and so on. There is also modern flat screen television mounted high on the wall, and tuned to a Spanish-language channel. Although I only know two or three words of Spanish, I do like the fact that the T.V. is tuned to a Spanish channel. There are also two electronic video games, Fast and Furious Drift, and Street Fighter II. THECUISINE. The menu has four pages, the first page disclosing«desayunos» which includes various omelets and meat/egg combinations. The second page lists types of meat(pastor, chorizo, pollo, lengua, buche, cabeza), burritos, tacos, and soups. The third pages lists quesadillas and specialty plates, such as enchilada plate and chile relleno plate. And the fourth page lists shrimp plates, various meals, and desserts, such as flan and cheesecake. The menu includes three types of beer. What I liked best, and what is not listed on the paper menu, were the three types of aguas frescas, namely, horchata, tamarind, and Jamaica flower. Horchata is a traditional beverage made from ground almonds, sesame seeds, rice. I asked the waitress what it was, and she answered, «rice water.» I had seconds of the horchata. THEGUESTS. The guests include children, middle aged folks, and old folks. It was obvious to me, that Los Pericos is not marketing itself to the 20-something crowd. I liked the fact that a Mexican-American gentleman was seated at the next table, and that he was wearing a cowboy hat and sideburns. Previously, I’d seen many Mexican-American men during my explorations around the farming community in Mecca, California. I also liked the fact that a girl at another table nearby was dressed in authentic garb. Perhaps, it was a Quinceanera suit, or something else. At any rate, her shirt had a red-colored embroidered eagle on the back, with red-colored embroidered ivy with green trimming in the shape of horse shoes on the sleeves, and she had white boots.

Somehow I forgot to rate this fantastic Mexican joint. It’s a tasty spot for any taqueria style of food. Burritos? On point. Tacos? Quite tasty. Quesadillas? Superb. Seriously, this place rocks. They’re fast, friendly, and make great food. I don’t understand why you’re still reading this and not chowing down. Go try it for yourself, you won’t be disappointed. Oh yeah, they have a wide variety of salsas to try, varying from mild to super spicy. If that wasn’t enough the salsa bar has the other goodies you might like to throw on your tacos.

The only reason for 2 stars is that the other 3 members in my party didn’t get sick. I did. Felt like I got kicked in the stomach. The flavors were good and I’d even thought about returning but by the time I got home I was hurting. Might have been a fluke but I’m guessing sloppy kitchen management caused me to get something cross contaminated. Then there was the smell of an electrical fire. They didn’t seem too worried about it. You can find better.

Regular Grilled chicken burritos with CHEESE is what I get here. The best in the town. Really tasty grilled chicken never disappoints. Huge burritos too. They don’t skimp on the size. Salsas are self serve here. Unlimited salsas… Crunchy tacos are good here too. Grilled chicken with extra cheese… Parking in the back. Enjoy !

It is always less crowded than its popular Pelton Center counterpart and you won’t have to deal with liquor store loiterers. The salsa bar is still on point and the food is good. It’s your standard taqueria so you can get your typical Mexican eats like grilled chicken tacos and burritos. The portions are huge. They serve Mexican breakfast all day(!) which I keep meaning to check out. Parking in the shopping center lot is always at a premium so be patient.

This is a wonderful spot for excellent quality Mexican food. The staff are very friendly and polite too. I was sad to hear yesterday that one of the young ladies that worked there had passed away recently. They had a box up front asking for funeral donations, I felt so sad as she was always super cheerful and helpful when I had large orders for staff meetings and such. I prefer this location to the one in the peloton center. Not sure why, but I just do. I think it’s because less crowded and the quality of the food seems better. Just my opinion. This is a great spot! Food is always on point. CARNEASADABURRITO!

DONOT order the taco salad. It’s just a mesh of beans with chicken(or your meant of choice) almost no veggies or flavor. I’m only giving them two stars(instead of zero which is what I’d want) because the tacos my husband had were ok-sh.

We normally head to the bigger Los Pericos in Pelton center, but since this one is two blocks closer to our house, we decided to check this one out. I’d say everything is the same, except smaller. The menu is smaller, the restaurant is smaller. Portions are the same though, and that’s good :) I got a small shredded chicken quesadilla, which came on two normal-sized, fresh-made flour tortillas. The chicken was very flavorful. Very good quesadilla. My boyfriend got the chile relleno plate, which was humongous. Had two chile rellenos, rice, beans, etc. His also came with a side of corn tortillas. He loves the chile rellenos here. The horchata was nice and cinnamon-y. We’ll definitely be back, but I like the bigger menu and the bigger location down the street.

I usually frequent the ones in Hayward, so this was my first time at this location. Ordered: Carnitas Taco– Dry. Not much flavor and not crispy either. Just dry… I had to douse the taco in salsa. Al Pastor Taco– Super flavorful. Pork was tender with just the right amount of flavor and sauce. I could have eaten a whole plate of this! Keep in mind, the AWESOME thing about these tacos is that it is PACKED with MEAT. With my two tacos, I made four tacos with the extra tortilla(each taco comes with two tortillas). Not too shabby for $ 5.44. I will definitely be back to try the other meats. Keep in mind there’s no carne asada at this location.

On Saturday, 9÷6÷14, my girlfriend picked me up a carnitas super burrito to go from Los Pericos #5. I usually eat at the Los Pericos located in the Pelton Center. This was my first time trying the #5 location. The carnitas burrito was really good. The carnitas tasted fresh and had a good flavor. The pork wasn’t greasy at all. The rice, refried beans, cheese and sour cream tasted really good along with the carnitas. The flour tortilla tasted good too. The size of the burrito was pretty big. I’m skeptical about ordering food to go at restaurants because there is usually something wrong with my order and I won’t notice until I get home so by then I just have to deal with it and eat it. Los Pericos #5 got my order right and the burrito hit the spot. Los Pericos has good Mexican food. If you’re ever in the area and are craving fresh tasty Mexican food give Los Pericos #5 a try.
