We stopped by here for dinner tonight since some friends of ours told us to give it try. We were greeted at the door and seated right away and handed 2 menus, one dinner the other Sushi. We both ordered combo dinner plates and were given soup and salad before dinner, and then presented with dinner. I enjoyed the Sushi combo bento dinner, nice combo of different types of Sushi and chicken and tempura, my co part had the grilled mackerel and also enjoyed it. Next time I think I would ask for steak or something else, I am a big fan of bbq grilled style chicken, but not every place serves it that way. The staff was very nice and attended our table for refills and dish pickup, did I say the staff was very nice :)

Sushi Mania is not the greatest Japanese restaurant I have been to, but it is not bad either. Actually, their vegetarian Udon noodles are very tasty and the vegetarian sushi(oshinko rolls) are surprisingly good. The décor itself does not have the authentic Japanese feel, but that was not the intention I think. Overall, I pretty good food, pretty good service. 4 stars? Why not.

This place is run by an authentic Japanese family. The owner is a friendly guy, and you’ll often see other family members making sushi behind the counter or waitressing. I got the katsu curry and it was very tasty. It wasn’t a small portion like other Japanese restaurants. My wife got a bento box and was quite pleased with her meal. Will definitely be going back soon.

Average sushi. Below average service. Not impressed. I don’t think I will be going back.

Ten times better than cha cha sushi! This is the best place for sushi places in south San Jose. The chicken teriyaki is superb, the chicken is tender and juicy, not dry and over cooked, the shrimp in the tempura are large and not small and over battered. The salad is fresh, crisp and the dressing is sooo goood! The Teri don, katsu, oyokodon and everything else is so good.

Showed up at 7 on a saturday night, put our name on the sign up list, made eye contact with a couple of servers and the chef behind the counter. Waited 10 min, noticed they had open tables. Totally ignored. no greeting, no seating, see ya! went to Masa and received a much warmer reception.

Sushi Mania is a solid neighborhood Japanese restaurant. I come here regularly because: 1. The bento boxes are quite tasty; 2. It’s the best Japanese restaurant in the immediate area(out of a handful); and 3. The atmosphere feels like a Japanese version of Cheers. If you choose to come here definitely try one of their bento boxes. I personally am not a big fan of westernized frankenstein sushi rolls so I won’t recommend that stuff from anywhere — but I often see fellow patrons digging into their godzilla sushi orders with great delight. Now, it’s not fair for sushi snobs(I admit I am one myself — so I can say this) to compare this place to the Sushi Ran’s and Shiro’s of the world — that wouldn’t be apples-to-apples(or oranges-to-oranges; whatever floats your sushi boat). You need to compare this place to other family-run neighborhood Japanese restaurants. When you do – this place clearly shines and is worth your patronage.

Authentic Japanese food, not operated by other Asians. Services are pretty good. Only disappointment was the little high price

Love this place! Prices are great. Portions are not overwhelming. I finished 95% of my food, which is great because i hate wasting food. The food was tasty as well! The chicken bento box has a lot of variety to it and everything tasted yummy. Sure its not a 10/10, but everything was still really good. The environment was pleasant and the service was well paced and friendly. I will be back again!

Very good sushi, close to home. Reasonable prices, good service, quality and generous portions. Tasty and crunchy tempera made with fresh vegetables. Also, we like their rolls made with fresh fish and vegetables. It’s hard to find good sushi in this neighborhood, so I’m glad we re-discovered Sushi Mania!

This is a nice neighborhood restaurant that is family owned. The service is always fast and efficient and their food is quite good. Don’t expect anything fancy as far as ambience and over the top rolls, but do expect a satisfying meal with reasonable prices in a family style restaurant.

Great sushi. Ambiance is ok, kind of plain. But sushi is great. This is my local«go to» place! :-)

Mediocre sushi at best. I really want to like it because it’s very convenient and wait is never long but it dissapoints time and time again. Fish is not the freshest, rolls are a bit boring and overall lack in flavor. Anytime I want sushi, which is often, I should stop being lazy and drive over to Cha Cha, where sushi is the best in the south bay.

This is a basic casual sushi spot, very quiet inside but if you want sushi and you’re not looking for anything high end with a trendy atmosphere then this is a good spot to go. It’s not a 4 star restaurant but it’s good food for its category. I enjoyed the kill bill roll without rice, I always appreciate when you can get rolls without rice. My friends shared a tortilla roll and yes it came in a proper tortilla roll. Edamame is always a necessity when getting sushi, I just love edamame. The shopping center is currently under construction so it was a little difficult to find but hopefully that will soon be finished. I enjoy restaurants with an upbeat vibe and trendy atmosphere so I wouldn’t come back here on a Friday or Saturday night but is come here on a week night or get it for take out. But overall our server was nice and we got sushi which was the goal.

Do NOT listen to any of the nay sayer’s. They probably complain about everything and just unhappy people. I’ve been going to this place for over 10 years now and the food is always good! The owner is super nice and always gives us a ‘high five’. It’s a small place but clean and again the food is good! Check it our for yourself.

Decent sushi. Not much adventure. Problem was 36 minutes before closing they put everything away and quit serving. If you close at nine don’t close at 8:24. Seven seas downtown is better. We won’t be back.

I like the choices of Sushi and non sushi items. We had some fish and it was full of bones(didn’t like that so much). I asked for cold Saki and it was presented in a hot saki container. I would like the option of Cold Sake in the bottle. Good selection of Sushi and creative tasty ones as well.
