im sooo sad that this place closed down! THETIKKAMASALAANDNAANHEREISSOOOOOGOOOD. Anyways, this place is really small and im assuming family owned. I haven’t tried anything else other than their tikka masala and naan. A few friends have tried other dishes like the tandoori chicken but from what i observed they didn’t seem to enjoy their dish too much. I’d give this place 4 stars just for their tikka masala, but the service is a inconsistent. Who ever owned this place really sucks at coming on time or whoever was on shift at that time. Twice i had to wait 30 minutes outside for the store to finally open. The chefs in the back did not know where the person on shift was and looked completely confused. But other than that, i will definitely miss their tikka masala!

I tried this place yet again and it was horrible! The naan is bad, the paneer is the worst, the samosas are not that great either(I didn’t think you could mess up a samosa). And now they have raised the prices! Can you believe it!?! Their food was horrible even at the cheaper price!

Sorry, Silk Road. I loved your chicken tikka masala and naan, but you have deprived me! This is just down the road from the office, and they are pretty fast so we used to come here everytime we craved Indian food. Unfortunately, the last 3 times we tried to come… — once i was just hungry too early, arrived just past 11 am but they weren’t open until 11:30 :( — the next time, about a week later — Liz L. and i got there around 12:15. the girl at the register told us they were serving a buffet that day. ok, kind of random, but we were hungry. then she told us it wouldn’t be ready for another 10 – 15 minutes. i don’t have 10 – 15 minutes to spare at lunch, plus it was already past noon! — the last time, Liz L. and our other coworker tried to go back, later the same week. they arrived to find the door closed, and an eviction notice on the door. well. that explains things. so as far as i know, it’s closed. i haven’t walked back again to check because i’ve been turned away 3 times… i’m sad though, the only other indian place around here is tandoori oven :(

I gotta drop this review by a couple stars. When you can’t consistently eat at the restaurant, there’s no point. Ever since this place changed ownership, things have gone downhill. We’ve arrived at opening, 11:30am, and had to wait 10+ minutes because they just started making the food. Yesterday, Erin H. and I came at a quarter past noon. They now serve lunch buffet, but the food wasn’t ready yet, and would take another 10 minutes. If you open at 11:30, food should be ready at 11:30. When do they think people eat lunch? We came in past 12! This sort of service/lack of preparation has occurred multiple times. I like the food and the prices, but I can’t seem to actually eat here!

Went here for dinner. There weren’t many patrons there and it’s a small restaurant with simple décor. Service is attentive, water refilled without asking the food comes out pretty fast, still hot and taste fresh. Ordered the naan basket, chicken tikka masala, lamb biryani, and some okra dish. They brought out some chole on the house. I was actually surprised at how good this place was. I wan’t expecting much but everything we got was flavorful, not oily and with just the right amount of spice. And everything was affordable! The only drawback was that we could hear music coming from the kitchen which made quiet conversation hard. Will definitely be coming back for the food though. And if you like reggaeton, then sit close to the kitchen.

It was… interesting. I got the chicken curry and a lychee lassi. My friend got the Tikka Masala and a mango lassi. Also ordered the garlic naan. 1. I asked for spicy. I specifically said very spicy. I got two leetle peppers in my watery curry. The tikka masala was spiciery than my «spicy» chicken curry. 2. Both the lassi’s were very watery. I am used to creamy lassi’s, so maybe this is a different style? 3. The naan was good. A little greasy, but good. Overall, not much flavor. The service was quick, but that’s all that can be said for that. i had to attract the attention of someone from the kitchen to get some chilli pepper to add to my very bland curry. There are definitly better places out there, some pretty close nearby. I’ll be going to them. The food was just… meh.

Being with a HANDSOME Indian man(entered per his request as I’m writing this, LOL), I have tried ALOT of Indian food and been to MANY restaurants, hence my 3 stars. We live down the street from this place so if were that huge of fans, we’d come here more often since we love Indian food so much. PROS: Good food! Fast service. Very friendly staff. Convenient for students, working professionals, and anybody craving Indian food. Entertainment(Indian music videos played on big screen). Affordable. Good lunch specials. My recommendations: –chicken tikka masala –aloo saag –lamb briyani –butter & garlic naan –lamb or chicken curry –lamb & chicken tandoori wraps –eggplant bharta CONS: Lacks lunch and dinner buffet — we would come here more and I’m sure the place would be more popular if they had it. FINALANSWER: Go! Not just because there are no other Indian spots in DTSJ, but because the food is actually good. The chicken tikka is like mmmm butter! Try one of my recommendations above and I can almost guarantee you’ll be happy!

I went here on a Friday night for dinner, and the place was empty around 6:30pm. We got lost trying to find this restaurant since the sign was not prominent. The food was decent. I thought there was a lot of Mediterranean flair with the food. My sister and I ordered the following: — Garlic Naan– The garlic was burnt, so it gave off a bitter aftertaste. — Falafel Plate– Came with 5 falafel balls, salad, rice, hummus and flatbread. The falafel was okay. I didn’t like the flavor too much. — Lamb kebob pita– The lamb was pretty good. It was a good size for a pita! Bathrooms were in the back, and they were clean.

I don’t know. I’m a bit uneasy about this restaurant! My friend recommended this restaurant because she had lunch here on time! So, I decided to give it a try. I ordered the chicken tikka malsala with rice and nann. I spent about $ 12. The quality of the curry was good. The nann was ok. The rice was not to my liking. I love Indian food, but the rice was too broken and hard for my satisfaction. On Unilocal,it seems a lot of people enjoy this restaurant so I’m not sure why I didn’t! Maybe I’ll give it another try and order something else! Also, this time i’m going to take advantage of the student deals! I’m a broke college student trying to survive at SANJOSESTATE! cheap thrills all the way!!!

Stopped by here on a weeknight before going to Azucar for salsa next door. The servers were really nice but I think was overwhelmed with our large party of 20 ppl. Suprisingly the food still came out pretty fast. I enjoyed the chicken tikka masala, plain & garlic naan and I really liked the gyro meat. The rice & hummus was also very tasty. The only thing I didn’t like was the lamb, it was a little dry but the seasoning was good. Also the curry portion could’ve been slightly larger. I would like to come back to this place for the gyro meat! It was delish!

I have to say, I feel sorry for this restaurant, but only because they apologized for«all the inconveniences» as we were leaving after a lazy Sunday lunch. Surely that isn’t a standard restaurant practice. And why did they apologize, you ask? Maybe I should highlight the pluses first, since that won’t take very long anyway. — Good food… chicken tikka masala(it is a little spicy for those who are averse to spicy food), garlic nan, and lychee lassi(unique and actually pretty good… made me want fro-yo afterwards). As for the minuses — see Karen C’s review. Recap: service is slow and uneven, different appliances may be broken when you order your food, you may not get what you order, unless it’s chicken tikka masala. Interestingly enough, the«chicken tikka masala» banner outside the restaurant is way more prominent than the restaurant’s name. I would consider coming back here if they gave me a free meal.(Oh, and it’s kind of pricey for a weekend lunch…~$ 7.49 for chicken tikka masala + $ 2.49 for garlic naan.)

Lately my bf and I have been all about trying the different«chicken tikka masala» dishes at various Indian restaurants — trying to find our favorite at a reasonable price. We also try other dishes too, but this is the one dish we get at all places to have something specific to compare. I gotta say, this place so far is the winner! Their masala is creamier and tastier than all the other places we’ve tried(the chain Tandoori Oven, Shagun Indian Cuisine on Skyport as just two examples of places we’ve tried.) Atmosphere: We went on a Saturday for lunch, there were maybe two other couples, so it was really laid-back/quiet in terms of other customers. Music videos were playing and they were entertaining to watch — I couldn’t understand it but that never matters; they were cute videos and the music had good beats. Place was clean and cozy. Service: Awesome; we picked our seats and were asked about drinks — I ordered chai tea, unsweetened. I can’t have a lot of normal sugar and had been wanting to try the tea everyone talks about — glad i did. It was tasty(added my own faux sugar to it as needed.) I can’t drink and eat at the same time, so my tea got cold and they offered to refill with hot tea but I opted to just drink what I had — it was still tasty and next time I will order it after the meal. Service was great. Food! We ordered: — Chicken Tikka Masala(best yet; creamier than others we’ve had, chicken was tasty and tender) — Lamb Curry(probably a medium-level spice but not crazy spicy at all– and totally tasty too) — Regular naan(omg so good; fresh and light) — Keema naan(another item we’re trying at places now since having it at Naan & Curry in the city awhile back. It was good, but not a personal fave. I can only have a small amount of bread so I opted to have mostly regular naan to taste with.) — Bf ordered rice(regular basmati) and he said it was good too(nothing special, it’s regular rice, but there was nothing bad about it, heh.) Overall, it’s a new fave! Very tasty :)

This has become one of my regular places for dinner. The boyfriend and I have been here many times now and every time we come, something is off. One of the times we came, they said they didn’t have any samosas so we ended up getting something else — similar to a samosas and it was also served with a side of cholay. Yummy — but I wanted samosas. Every time we come, we order the potato naan«aloo zeera». The last time we ordered it, it looked different from the first few times… more herbs baked into it. It’s still always yummy! I am obsessed with their chicken tikka masala. MMmm just writing about it makes me wish i could have some tonight for dinner.

Came in on a Monday night, not too crowded about 8 seated guests, 1 guy at the front. Service is the main factor for the lack of stars. My friend and I were seated and waited for 15 minutes to order. Worse part was, a couple came in after us and the server took their order first before us, bad form. Food was decent. Had the gyro plate. Meat was slightly crispy which I like but rice was a little undercooked. Naan was pretty standard and hummus was good. Two people came out to about 20 bucks. Pretty good value. If only service was better this place would get 4 stars.

I ate here with my friend for lunch and this was my first time eating at an Indian restaurant. They had the menu outside of their lunch specials or something like that but the thing that caught my attention was their motto: «Service faster than an Intel processor.» That sold me besides the fact that my friend told me the chicken tikka masala was good, because he had it recently at another restaurant. This was both of our first time at this restaurant. I didn’t know what else to try so I just went with what my friend said. I ordered the chicken tikka masala($ 7.50) from their Chef’s Specials section on the lunch menu and water which came out to $ 8.19. It came with rice, naan, and daal. This was how we did things when we came here. We ordered our food, paid for it, and sat down. They will bring out your food to your table when it’s done which comes to the next thing I want to say. Their service wasn’t faster than an Intel processor and maybe it was because only 2 people(1 guy really) were bringing the food to the tables. Can you imagine if that was the case? That will be crazy fast service! Anyways, I give them credit since there were a lot of people there. The amount they gave me was a pretty good deal considering the price I paid. They had a lot of naan(it’s like bread), a mount of rice, daal(tasted like beans to me), and the chicken tikka masala in a bowl. I posted up a picture of it if you’re curious what it looks like. Everything was tasty and the chicken tikka masala reminded me of curry that you would eat at a Thai restaurant. I couldn’t finish everything and I had to rush a bit because I had class. I think it could seat about 30 people but probably more since I saw space where there could’ve been a table where the plant was. They also have a projector and screen showing Bollywood movies or Indian music. I wasn’t really paying attention. My rating is based on my overall experience with the food and service. I can’t compare this to any other restaurants that have the chicken tikka masala since this was my first time going to an Indian restaurant. I say it was pretty good. Give the chicken tikka masala a try! Large portion for the amount you pay.

The place has a really strange overcast lighting with the outside lights blinding you after you go inside. I came here on a lunch outing with coworkers and was pretty surprised how much I liked it. I had my fav chicken tikka masla and it lived up to my expectations. The sauce is awesome and the nan is freshly cooked and is hot and crispy. It is at a pretty good spicy level for people who can take slightly spicy foods here and there. The portions may seem a bit small but I walked out super full. The only thing keeping it from getting a 5 star is some dark meat chicken pieces instead of those tiny chicken breast cubes. Maybe someone there will listen and add this unhealthy but super tasty option?

It’s lunch time and I don’t know where to eat. Shocking, I know. My co-workers suggested that I try a wrap from Silk Road Bistro and since I couldn’t make any decisions as a result of hypoglycemia kicking in, I took their suggestion. I walked in and found that we were only one of two customers in the entire restaurant. Usually not a good sign for me during the lunch hour. Eh… maybe it was too late for folks. I ordered a Chicken Wrap to go and at $ 5.99, it was a great lunch deal. It took about 10 – 15 minutes to prepare… a little on the longer side for not being busy at all. But I figured it would be fresh :) The wrap was jammed packed with cubed chicken that was fairly most and lightly seasoned. The yogurt sauce had more of a mayonnaise taste and consistency and I was surprised to find lettuce in my Indian Chicken wrap. Interesting. I think the naan was the best part of the wrap… fresh, warm, chewy and soft. Delish. Not a bad lunch spot but not a place I would go to satisfy my Indian food craving.

The lunch specials are so great! You get a ton of food for $ 8.00 — individual servings of whatever you want(tikka masala, paneer, etc.), naan, rice and daal. It’s a great deal and I love the chicken tikka masala! They are all really nice and even gave us some free dessert!

I came here one to get a quick mango lassi for La Novia. I had a feeling she would like it and she did(and so did I). With that said, I decided to return with her for dinner and it was a very mediocre dining experience. But hey, at least she knows how bad Indian food tastes like(and why I love New Indian Cuisine so much). Anyway, here is a quick breakdown of our meal: Appetizers: Samosas: Very mediocre. They tasted as if they had been frozen. I asked for some green chutney since La Novia loves it and the server informed me that they ran out. What kind of Indian restaurant runs out of chutney? That is like a Mexican restaurant running out salsa. Go in the back and tell the kitchen to make some more! Kadhai Chole: This was the best part of the entire meal. I am not sure why this came out, but it did. I guess it is part of the meal. They are garbanzo beans cooked in some spices. Unfortunately, our server insisted they were chickpeas. Main Course: Chicken Tikka Masala: Wow, this dish was bad. It was super sweet and not spicy. It also had the smallest and most miniscule pieces of chicken inside of it. They give you a large portion, but it is mostly curry. I know this because there was a bunch left over and I did not take it home. Tandoori Chicken Salad: This was more liked a burned chicken salad. There was no freakin’ tandoori coloring at all. It was charcoal. La Novia was not impressed. I was disgusted. Dal: This was the blandest Indian lentil soup ever. I tasted it once and twice to make sure it was terrible. Yep, I should have trusted the first spoonful. Naan: This was good. I ate all of it. Dessert: No dessert for us. But we were giving a free sample of kheer, which is a rice pudding. It was very runny. It did not taste right at all. In the end, I give them 1.5 stars or so. I’ll bump them up to 2 stars since the service was nice and the daal, khadai chole, and mango lassis are actually delicious. Skip this place and go to a real Indian restaurant that serves quality Indian food. But really, how does an Indian place run out chutney?
