This was my first time here and it will be my last. The chicken kebab is more like boiled chicken. The samosa was nothing like a samosa at all. It was a paper cup filled with what would be the filling of a samosa. All the flavors ended up being a huge miss. I wish I could get my money back.

Food is ok in taste. Some of the ingredients were missing from the dishes. Frankie didn’t have egg at all. And, mild spicy is not really mild. So, taking two stars off for two reasons.

Super slow service. They forgot to prepare our order. We had to remind them about this Too much salt in the raita. Okay-ish Currito .!

I was in San Jose on business and decided to give this place a try. It’s the kind of place where you order at the counter and then find a table to wait for your food to be brought to you. The menu looked amazing and I wanted to try everything. I decided on their Saag Paneer and Samosas. Both were delicious and went well with the Marzen beer, a pilsner style beer I had never tried before. New things YAY! The service was gracious and the food came out quickly. If i’m in town again I want to try their Vindaloo(yes, I’ve booked marked this place for such an eventuality).

Chipotle style Indian fast food. Can buy a wrap or bowl with choice of rice, protein and sauce. Tried rice with paneer Tikka. It is OK. Decent food, right in the heart of downtown.

Normally my lunch time trip ends next door at City Fish but today I want to be a curry pundit. So I said Hi and Bye to City Fish owner and stepped in. I agree with other Unilocalers that this is a Chipotle style Indian fast food place. Why not expand my «-ritto» collection(Burrito, Sushiritto, Chinaritto…) and go for the Currito(even though they have a sticker that says«8» on top of the original price of 7.50)? I got the Currito with Lamb Kebab & Moilee(coconut ginger curry). It took about 3 minutes given that I am the only customer at 1:30pm for late lunch :(. The Currito is a bit smaller than the Chipotle burrito. And I requested the server to cut it in half for me. One of the halves fell apart right after she cut it. A spoon is needed obviously. It tasted okay for fast food but nothing special. The curry did have a touch of coconut but that’s about it. They could have put some more lettuce inside as well. Overall, nothing special. I will report back to City Fish next time.

Solid 5 if you know indian chicken curry and saag paneer(spinach/cheese), & garlic naan, which is what we ordered. We also ordered the pakoras, which was a bit of a mistake. Because these classic fried veggie fritters weren’t crisped through, like excess dough in the middle. That wasn’t ideal. (This is NOT a chipotle-style indian place, which is what I think I read somewhere here!) But where they made up the difference was simple. Just order the $ 8 chicken curry and some garlic naan– the curry will roll out in a lil to go container that looks like you can destroy it yourself, but think again. The piping hot, properly spiced curry loaded with fat chunks of tender marinated bird easily fed me and my co-pilot, and we had half of the container left over. Perhaps that is because we started with a beer up the way at that beer bar whose name I will later remember, but that shouldn’t matter… If this food was in a fancy silver container, the emperor would have no clothes and the fans would be out the door is what I’m guessing. We just finished off the rest tonight. Killer. Likewise, the saag was sumptuous, fresh and cleanly spiced and the paneer was delicate, almost melted into the spinach base, but loaded. The garlic naan was ridiculous, fresh, buttery, and specks of garlic roasted on them bad boys in a basket. The restaurant is super clean, painted fresh and the staff was hella cheery and extremely nice. This place has a ton of pride for being on a block where some heavily drugged out folks were getting into their shenanigans with each other out front, some dude dropping his pants and stumbling into people was getting gawked at by everyone, and. But I guess it’s nothing worse than Santa Cruz’s Metro station downtown, except its San Jose. And anyway, you should be here for the food. We are going to be back here without a doubt.

Very poor quality of food. Felt like eating frozen packed food. Severs did not care much either. Spent over $ 60 and wasted 90% of the food. When we complained to the server, all we got was«I will let the owners know»… Four stars for their service. Owner is concerned and got back pretty quickly to resolve the issues

I don’t know much about Indian food, but the lamb curry that I ate was really tasty. My coworkers who know more about Indian food said that this place was average, but I still think it’s really good. It’s kind of like Chipotle style ordering, where you pick your base, your meat, your sauce, your veggies, and spice level. The portion is pretty generous. It’s a convenient place to get decent Indian food in the downtown SJ area.

I am a huge fan of Indian food and this is one of my favorite places to go. On saturday night around 10.30 pm i went with my family for first time . FOOD: we order 1 bombay frankie with chicken kebab and 2 curry bowls with tandoori paneer and tikka masala and 2 curidella with paneer. the food was really delicious, with curidilla we got salad it was my dad’s favourite. SERVICE: service was great, the guy with CURRYPUNDITS T shirt was very good and friendly, when we enter into restaurant it was really busy the server welcomed us with great smile and he is the only guy taking order and preparing food. we all are really shocked how one guy is managing everything but Food was served within 15 minutes and we finished it up in no time. WARNING: The restaurant is pretty tiny with only a handful of tables and restaurant is very hot i think air conditioner is not upto level . FINALLY: Highly recommended for authentic Indian food and curry tastes! I’d definitely visit here again. my parents are happy with the food and my wife too. A+ for food and A++ for service!

Went here for a quick lunch. It was alright. This place is «Chipotle-style.» You order your food by going through a food line, picking out the ingredients you want in your bowl, burrito, etc. However, I was disappointed that I didn’t get to experience that. I went around 12pm and my friend and I were the only ones inside of the restaurant. I walked straight to the cashier. She didn’t walk me through the food line. I ordered a food bowl. She asked me what I wanted in my food bowl. Because it was my first time, I was hoping that I get to see all of the different ingredients that I get to choose from. After I told her everything that I wanted, she put all of those ingredients in a bowl. Very quick service, but that totally beats the purpose of having this place«Chipotle-style.» Took the food to-go. Opened the bowl and the food smelled amazing! First few bites were pretty good, but then I felt that the rest was pretty greasy.

Unfortunately I have to give 2.5 stars because the food was not fresh and rice was kind of old. I would look for another Indian restaurant. Although the customer service was good.

I came here with some friends on a Friday night, and I ordered the currito, a burrito with curry. I got half grilled veggie and half chicken, with vindaloo. There’s a choice of spinach or tomato tortilla, and I got the spinach. The tortilla was really soft, but it didn’t really taste like spinach. Anyway, the currito was so-so. I wish they used naan instead as a wrap! The chicken was a bit dry, and I don’t think there was enough sauce. The sauce also wasn’t very flavorful nor spicy. I was somewhat disappointed. The food is also not very fresh tasting. It wasn’t too pricy at $ 8.16 post-tax($ 7.50 before), and the portion was decent. It just wasn’t very flavorful or fresh. I don’t think I’ll be returning. I will say the service is good though! The people there are quite friendly.

The food is dominated by Indian taste not much of Mexican at all! Tried curridilla with tandoori paneer n tikka masala which tasted flat with too much paneer. Curry bowl was rice n curry with too much paneer again!

This place isn’t too bad. I wasn’t a fan of the currito. I got currito with lamb and spicy vegan sauce(vindaloo) which was OK. I went back and tried the curry bowl which the register person recommended. I really enjoyed the curry bowl more which reminds me a little of Chipotle’s burrito bowl ha! For the curry bowl, I ordered the brown rice, grilled veggies(extra), lamb kebob, and vindaloo(spicy vegan curry). Vindaloo has a lot of spices!

Mixed feelings about this place. Its empty, I ordered and the cook got a personal phone call and took it. I understood that it wasnt an emergency just chatting with a friend. The nice cashier broke out a sheet of paper with directions on how to make the food. Still waiting. Two guys walk in and she starts working on their food. Im still waiting. Yay! Cooks of his phone! My meter is running. Hope the food is good. Finally I got my food. 20 min later! Well the flavor is good but the chicken kabob is dry. :(

My boyfriend was really craving Indian food and having been horribly disappointed at some other Indian places we tried recently, we were really happy to have stumbled upon this place. I ordered a chicken tikka masala since that always seem like a safe option. My boyfriend decided to try the currito with paneer tandoori and masala. They were actually low on masala and asked if my boyfriend wouldn’t mind a split sauce so that he didn’t have to wait too long for his food. So he ended up getting half masala and half saag, which he actually really liked as weird as it might sound. My chicken masala was really good and I had naan with it. What I really liked was that there was a lot of chicken and the sauce had a kick to it. We’re used to eating Indian food and was glad that they didn’t dumb down the spices to make it more non-Indian friendly. James, the cashier/server, was very friendly and helpful since it was our first time there. I felt bad that after we came in(it was around 9pm), a huge party of 10+ came in to order but I thought he handled them very well. Definitely coming back here again!

This place was a new discovery for my husband and I recently. We found out about it on Door Dash and decided to try it. I’m so glad we did because they are very delicious! We’ve had the frankies, burritos, quesadillas and bowls and combo meals. I’ve also really fallen in love with their veg pakoda. They do paneer very well and for the quality and flavor combined with the price I really loved it and will return again for sure!!! Definitely a regular choice now for my husband and I.

Love this place!!! The trend like Pieology, Chipotle, and Curry Pundits are on the up and up. I like to pick and see how my selections will be built. I had the chicken tikka masala bowl. I opted for rice and lettuce(I don’t know why) but after the taste explosion after my first bite, I regretted adding lettuce. The rice was a little tough but over the pungent chicken tikka masala, this selection of mine was perfectly delicious. The chicken was tender. Great on a chilly evening/night because it’s hot and spicy. At least the chicken tikka masala was. This place is definitely not kid friendly. I felt bad for Gavin after I had him eat w/me. It was too spicy for him however, he liked the samosas filling. The samosas are cheap — about $ 1.25 each, I believe and though it sat in the tray for quite some time, it did not have that greasy aftertaste. The place is small, dark, and not appealing. Service was brief and short. The lady working the stations had a blank expression. Yet still, I would come back to this place over and over again because the food is awesome. I want it right meow.

I stumbled upon this place today as I was walking to grab lunch with a co-worker. As we were walking along Santa Clara Street, I got distracted by their poster and stopped to see what this place was. I was intrigued by the signage at the front that said«fresh Indian flavors done Californian style.» Apparently, this place opened about 5 weeks ago. Curry Pundits was about half packed when we walked in. We were immediately greeted by someone as the cash register. My first thought as I walked in and scaned the menu and bar set up was that this was pretty much the Indian version of Chipotle. It’s pretty self-explanatory. You get in line all the way at the right side of the bar and you pick what you want inside.(see bottom of my review for how to order) I opted for a Currito with brown rice, chicken, spinach curry, lettuce, and pico de gallo. While the currito said it’s made with whole wheat roti, it’s more like a tortilla. The food tasted very fresh and the concept and endless amounts of possibilities makes me want to come back to try more options… like the Bombay Frankie! Overall, the staff here were nice and one of them actually came to our table to see how we liked the food and gave us a $ 5 coupon to use for our next visit(online order only). The only thing that threw me off was that we were told to pay after we eat and to take our time. They do have other sides and appetizers such as samosa and alooo tikki(stuffed potato patties) in addition to desserts. The cardamom mango panna cotta and bibinca(layered coconut cake) both sound like good choices. Can’t wait to come back to try more food!
