During the years that I attended SJSU(2007 – 2012), I knew a good chunk of my tuition was going towards building a brand new Student Union. Luckily, I graduated when I needed to, so I couldn’t see what this place had to offer. Fast forward a couple of years and I am working at a high school down the street from campus. With my insider knowledge of where to park for free by the new Student Union food court, I am able to come by here for lunch during my prep. Though there aren’t many«healthy» options, I do my best by choosing the freshest items for lunch. Currently, the food court has Jamba Juice, Taco Bell, Mojo Burgers, In the Mix(a salad spot), Panda Express, a chicken and waffles place, a pizza spot, and Le Boulanger. I believe they are also in the works of adding a Starbucks and Subway. I’m glad to know that my tuition is now paying it back to me with a food court that I can grab a bite to eat at for lunch. Overall, if you are around SJSU campus and need a quick and affordable meal then definitely check out the options at the SJSU Student Union Food Court.

Some if the food places are ok but I really wish they had some more healthier options. I think my favorite place is the café. Besides that I’m not too impressed with the food.

I actually really like this place and I don’t know what people are complaining about. The coffee shop is probably the best part. First off, they make your coffee extremely fast, which is awesome when you’re rushing to class. Secondly they have an awesome selection of fresh bagels and cream cheese. The spinach parmasan bagel is my favorite. Finally, the prices are so cheap! My big fluffy bagel and medium iced tea only cost me around $ 3, way cheaper than Starbucks! I usually get Panda Express for lunch which is average. I’ve also tried the taco place. Got a huge taco stuffed with Carne asada plus rice and beans for only $ 3. I have no complaints other than limited seating… But when you’re at a university with so many people that’s expected. I’m sure once the second part of the student union is built it will be much better.

Panda Express, Subway, Jamba Juice, Nathans Hot Dogs, Philz Coffee, and a few more. There’s also cereal, fresh fruits, lots of different drinks. Good size but can get really full at peak hours, especially the first part of the semester. They do a good job of keeping it clean, even during peak hours.

Way too many people in one SMALL area. Too many people=smelly stuffy place. who wants to eat in that environment?! Food is decent. has many choices. Really looking forward to the new buildings.

My classmate and I decided to grab some food prior to our horrendous Friday class. She was going to get a carne asada quesadilla, while I opted for a regular chicken burrito. My chicken burrito was actually not bad. The chicken was pretty tasty and plentiful, and the rice was good. Not bad for a food court. The funny part was when my classmate ordered her carne asada quesadilla. The girl puts in the cheese, and beef, then proceeds to wrap it like a burrito. We were in a hurry so she didn’t complain and took it anyways. What we didn’t notice was that the«quesadilla» wasn’t even heated, so she said it was like eating cold clumpy cheese with pieces of beef. Freaken hilarious.

This review exists to allow people to rate San Jose State University’s series of eateries, specifically the food court within the Student Union. I’ve found my experience here to be bittersweet. Although there’s a wide variety of restaurants within the food court including The Orient Express, Nathan’s Hot Dogs, Sunset Chicken and Fries, Subway, Jamba Juice, and two Mexican food sections, all of the food is a little pricey for a student-accomodating food court. In many food courts at other universities the menus will all contain items anywhere between $ 3 to $ 6 to appeal to the majority of students who aren’t quite financially stable. Because the average meal in the food court is $ 5-$ 10, a lot of students prefer going off campus or hitting up the value menus at the nearby on campus Burger King. The quality of food is decent, but isn’t anything special. Overall, the University is lucky to have a somewhat large selection of eating establishments but again, the prices may not be worth staying on campus to eat.
