My family and I come here often! The great thing about this place is that the food is cheap. This restaurant is not the place to expect the best service. Although, they will take your orders right away and serve you the dish within 5 minutes. We usually order the Mi kho ga quay chat which translates to Egg Noodle(DRY) with Roasted Chicken for $ 7.95 and the Chinese Donut. The roasted chicken is crispy on the outside and wasn’t dry in the inside. It’s pretty big so thats one of the things I like about the dish! It comes with a bowl of soup and a bowl of sauce to dip with the chicken. The soup was a bit too salty so having the Chinese Donut to dip it with it helped. Sometimes the sauce inside the bowl with the dry egg noodles can be overly salty but for a few times, it can also be a little bland. I recommend using the sauce that’s for dipping the chicken onto the noodles when it’s bland. Tastes a lot better! Food is mediocre and service its ok. Worth a try though if you’re ever around the area!

This will be my last time visiting this place. I just finished my dinner here and let me tell you, CHECKYOURBILLBEFOREYOUPAY! Me and sister ordered the $ 42 family meal with a side of fried rice(7.25), the total came out to be $ 62! Something didn’t seem right so I asked for the bill. They charged 7.50 for f*ING white rice when the server clearly told us it’s WITH the meal when I asked him why did he bring this out! Sorry dude, I know your place is slowing down but over charging and trying to rip off your customers won’t make you much in the end.

Don’t come here for the service. I always order #23 hu tieu nam vang kho(combination rice noodle soup dry). Definitely made very well & quite yummy! Great & filling meal for ~$ 7 – 8! This is definitely a cheap alternative, especially if Bun Bo Hue An Nam has a long wait: P

NOSTARS: First time here. Horrible service and food. The workers and the owner is rude. And we had an uninvited guest… a baby cockroach.

My dad introduced me to this restaurant last year and it’s become my go-to place for phở since then(beating out TK Noodle) we always get the #23 or #24. The soup is super rich and it’s awesome that if you order your meal to go, they’ll pack a bone in the soup for you as well. Don’t go to the places next door. They may be fancier looking inside, but this place is the one with the rabid clientele.

I always eat here every Saturday with my dad for the Hu Tieu Kho. One of the best noodle places that stay consistent throughout the years(and it’s worth the price which is a major plus). If your noodles are lacking flavor, just ask the waiters for more sauce. They’re also generous with their portions. :)

Funny Experience there. Service: 0 stars. Rude, incompetent, slow, broken English. Food 3.5 stars to 4 stars. Place: 0 star: old, very dirty in some part(floors and bathroom door… seriously…). Love having a trash trolley next to me when I eat!!! or an arm that goes over my food to refill chopsticks pot. Get in, wait 7 minutes to get menu, then wait 5 minutes for the waiter Waiter: «Are you ready to order» Me: «Anything you can recommend?» Waiter: «23» Me: «huh?» Waiter: «that’s what everybody take is 23.» Me: «ok. Can I have spring roll No3?» Waiter: «no have. take noodles 23» Me: «what’s that guy having over there»(looked like Bo Bun…) Waiter: «you know I don’t know I can’t just walk look and tell you. take 23.» Me: «ok. I want catfish« Waiter: «ok. anything else?» Me: «hold on…» Waiter: «ok I’ll come back» Wait 5 minutes Waiter: «Are you ready to order» Me: «yes roll no2.» Waiter: «no have. no have 2 no have 3. ok I’ll come back» wait 5 minutes… etc… So after 35 minutes we finally got food(food took about 17 minutes to prepare) now the food: Good. Solid. The soup was slightly over salted, the catfish way over-salted(frozen catfish) but generally speaking it tasted great, fresh and well prepared. Dishes are around 7 $ which makes them excellent values for money. A big plus for the dry egg noodles(see photos).

The reason my family only came here was for the soup. Really slow service and restaurant. We were seated and was waiting for more than 30 minutes, how can he not see us?! We had a table with a big family. Even had to call him to get to us. I ordered hu tieu nam vang. That took 30 minutes more, at that time I would be almost finish eating bun bo hue. He forgot my sua dau nanh order and it was iced, I didn’t order with ice! I remember specify warm sua dau nanh. The food was small in portion, only took me around 5 minutes to eat it all,(that’s even less than the time we waited). I won’t be coming back again.

My family came here a lot when I was a child, however it’s been a while since I’ve been back. I won’t be coming back. Walked in and the place looked pretty run down. Portions were so small for the amount they’re charging us for. As well, I don’t know what was going on but I had to constantly ask the main server for water for our table roughly 4 times, mind you with San Jose that day being close to 90 degrees in the evening still. We finally got our water at the end of the meal, while the guy next to us who just came in got his water even before us. It was noisy and overall we left in a bad mood. Meh.

This is based just solely on my take out experience. Came in and there was no greeting of any sort. I walked up to the register and that was the only way I got a hold of anyone’s attention. Told them I wanted to order togo and they gave me a menu without even looking at me. So I had to order for my girlfriend and she didn’t know what she wanted, so I just tried to take a picture of what’s on the menu for her. They quickly rushed over and demanded I stopped taking picture. So I tried to explain that just trying to order for my girlfriend and was responded by «I don’t know what you say but no pic». Okay then. I’m not trying to steal your menu or anything but you know I guess that’s how you guys see your customers. I was about to walk out but hey I’ll be the bigger person and not make a scene. After I ordered, they dropped the bag of food at the table without saying anything. Paid them and left. Not one ounce of customer service at this restaurant. I’m sorry maybe you guys are having an off day or something but, if these other Unilocalers complain about customer service too then I’m not the only one. Come for the cheap prices and don’t expect anything more than a restaurant that treats customers like pests they’re trying to get rid of.

Tasty curry goat stew: your choice of rice or noodles. Deep curry flavor, succulent pieces of goat that are so tender. Smaller portion but only $ 7.95. It rocks. also, had the snow pea with pork: delightful snow peas, with sauteed pork, hints of charred onions and seaweed? yum. In addition, I had a Iced Coffee, which was yummy and potent. Décor: ok, A/.C was working good. Clean. Bathrooms: clean Parking: ok.

Super good noodle/noodle soup dishes for cheap prices! I think most of the noodle soups and dry noodle dishes were around $ 7? The combination noodle dish(dry) is super good. It comes with a bowl of soup with a soft pork bone in it. Their noodles are perfectly cooked. I don’t normally like egg noodles, but the way they make theirs is the perfect amount of chewy, fresh and super tasty. The white rice noodles are also really good. In the combination you get both! Make sure you get an order of those chinese donuts to dunk in your soup! They are crunchy and not too greasy. Service is quick. Like most Vietnamese places in San Jose, they are cash only and you need to go to the register to pay. I’ve heard this place gets super packed in the afternoon and later in the evenings so come early!

I would have rated this place 4 stars if the noodles were not overcooked and the man taking my order didn’t throw the menus on the table at me. The hu tieu kho(noodles with soup on the side) is good. The soup is flavorful and not as loaded with MSG as other places like Nam Vang and Yummy Trieu Chau and the meats and seafood they add in there are of good quality. But the noodles were way overcooked, which was a bummer because everything else was so good. It would be nice if they had better chili peppers like the ones at Nam Vang and Yummy Trieu Chau. Also, the man who takes the order needs to lighten up. I am use to brusque service, especially at Asian places but throwing the menu on the table at me was just not acceptable.

I was so stoked to try out the food from the menu here, there were so much special plates that I can’t find in AZ. I ordered Thai hot pot and Bo Tai Chanh(Beef carpaccio with a side of mixed fish sauce). The serving size of the Beef salad was huge, I almost couldn’t finish the whole meal with the hot pot. An interesting thing is when I was there, there was a wedding taking place. It was kinda fun enjoying the food and being there to witness such special moments. So basically, I got free entertainment by magnificent performance of local singers. Overall it was not a bad experience, I will definitely come back to try another specialty.

This place is a hidden gem. Unless you’re vietnamese it’s impossible to know what to order. A family friend recommended this place to us and specifically, dish #30 Mi Nam Vang Kho. For any singaporeans out there, this is mee pok!!! omg so good. And for $ 6.25 or $ 6.75(large), it’s a steal. I always get the dry kind because they put some kind of sauce that makes it über delicious and they give the broth on the side. The bowl comes with shrimp, squid, liver, and pork. They could seriously charge twice the price for that bowl but hey I’m not complaning. random story: I left my wallet/purse there for SEVEN hours. stupid me didn’t realize for that long… I quickly drove back when I realized, though I was absolutely sure someone would have stolen it by now, but the waiter found it when I left and kept it for me! the workers here are good people!!! :)

Disgusting! Disgusting! Disgusting! Ordered chow Mein and low and behold there was a small COCKROACH mixed and roasted next to the veggies! Omg gross filthy place! I’d give less than 1 star but not an option. I need to complain to the health department about this one! This place has been up for sale from what I understand and probably for good reason! Wonder how many health violations this place has had the past year???

«Well, people don’t come here for the service.» That’s what I told my boyfriend after the owner took our order and walked away. You might see him here most days taking orders and appearing all disinterested with zero fucks given to the patrons. I keep this in mind and not let it get to me as I usually return anyway. Their hu tieu nam bang(kho) is pretty damn good. And they are pretty damn cheap here. So yea, don’t expect spectacular service. Just eat and be on your way if you ever bother coming here.

My family likes to come here on Sunday for lunch. I always get the dry noodles or better known as noodles without the soup! The soup comes in a separate bowl. I like the mi kho. It’s always seasoned nicely and comes with an appropriate ratio of meat to noodle. The owner is real friendly and pretty much knows my order by now. It’s kinda nice how they pay attention to what you like to eat! Minus one star because this plaza is super small and sometimes parking is hard to find!

**** Cash Only **** Finally got back to try the Hu Tieu Nam Vang(Phnom Penh style noodle soup) Kho(dry with soup on the side). As the name implies, it’s a Cambodian influenced dish which is popular in South Vietnam. Small is currently $ 5.95 and large $ 6.50. I got the large with no cilantro. .. this was a struggle with the waiter’s limited English. After bringing the cashier over to hear my request she thought for awhile, then nodded and said something to the waiter in Vietnamese and then asked me «Mixed with onions. No onion OK?» Which I said was fine. What I ended up with was a small bowl of cilantro & green onions on the side( ) and no garlic chives on my Hu Tieu( ) which I see on every other picture of this dish(not my pic ) Oh well, next time I’ll use Google Translate! Anyway, along with the main bowl is the bowl of rich, flavorful pork broth(has some MSG, but not headache worthy amounts) which had a chunk of vertebrae in it and a garnish plate with sprouts, lime wedge, Chinese celery, and some jalapeño slices( ). Generous amount of toppings including squid, shrimp, lean pork, ground pork, liver, tongue, and toasted shallots with an umami rich brown sauce between the toppings and noodles. You can(and should) pull the spine meat from the vertebrae( ) and the toppings were all very good with super tender squid, moist shrimps and tender, flavorful meats. The noodles were not good. Overcooked and in a tight clump. Even a few spoonfuls of the broth(which is all I typically add to «dry» noodle dishes) weren’t enough to loosen things up. By the time things de-clumped almost all the broth had been added back making it much less«kho» and the heat from the piping hot broth further overcooked the noodles as I ate. It’s been awhile since I’ve had Nam Vang’s version, but I think Nha Hang’s is a small step down(mainly from the noodles) though definitely better than the MSG laden head throbber from Dalat. 3.5 stars. Keeping at 4 because of the«Body of Work» I’ve experienced here ;-)
