I’ve had MOD Pizza multiple times, which means I like it. I really like the idea of being able to make your own pizza — the many toppings you can order on top of the different types of pizza sauces. My favorite sauce so far is the BBQ and second is pesto. When ordering the BBQ sauce, definitely ask for them to put a medium amount. Too little and too much of it would make the pizza not as good as it can be too sweet. I like all of the toppings, especially the mint because it makes the pizza refreshing. And it smells so good! Definitely a great place if you don’t know what you are craving. However, its only a good place if you like thin crust pizza. I prefer regular and thick crust, but I don’t mind thin crust if its cooked correctly. Some pizza places like MOD where you can make your own, they over cook the pizza making the bottom of the pizza burnt. It makes the pizza taste bitter, so thank you MOD pizza for not burning my pizza. The atmosphere of this pizza joint is nice. It’s hipster, which attracts people of all ages. The service is very good as well. The staff are nice and attentive.

The crust on the pizza is not good by any means, It’s very reminiscent of a soda cracker, and one of co-workers described it as a «flour tortilla». MOD pizza can’t compare to MidiCi Pizza. Price was okay however, the food was not. I will not be back.

I love Mod Pizza, my boyfriend and I used to go there at least once a week when they put in this new location! The vegetables, dough and sauces are always fresh and delicious. and they really make the pizza however you want it. They will put a pile of pepperoni on there if you ask them too. But my favorite part of Mod Pizza, without a doubt, is the Sirancha! Every time I try and make it at home it just doesn’t taste the same!

As good as it gets when it comes to build-a-bear pizza! Not gonna mention any names, but most will liken this store to a comparable one on Brokaw(Starts with a «P-» ends with an «-ology» ;P) — it’s just not the same to me. A handful of times the young’ins at the other restaurant couldn’t even construct their own menu pizzas! MOD Pizza was never a hassle when I ordered online. I usually get their version of the BBQ Chicken because I’m a Cali boy that reps sweets on pizza dude. The Gorgonzola is a little strong for my tastes but the rest of the pizza is choice. I always add black olvies, cilantro and pineapple — yes, PINEAPPLE — to the sample and it’s always a hit for me. Same thing goes for when I’m in a savory mood with their meat-loving Mad Dog Pizza: always with olives & pineapple to top it all off. They now have a bigger selection of milkshakes that I would not hesitate to try your first time. That’s my only real tidbit for this review, while you live and die by your own pizza decisions, bruh. No judgement! I’ve brought a few friends here because who doesn’t like customized pizza? It’s also nice to show off the new duds of a budding SSJ plaza by Kaiser. New TARGET, new park and an *ULTA ViVa Glam* store if you’re down enough to shop with a galpal for reasonably-priced face goop and brushes. Really nice area to walk around on a sunny day.

Two words for the pizza here. HELLAGOOD! 1.) Speed: Be prepared to stand in line a bit during rush hour. The line does move quickly though and absolutely worth it. 2.) Staff: The staff always seems happy and enthusiastic and not the fake kind you see where the employee appears to painfully stretch a smile across their face while there eyes make them appear still dead on the inside. I contribute this to good management and work environment. 3.) Cleanliness: place is usually really clean unless it’s a absolute mad house which is understandable because they do have the best pizza around. A few pizza crumbs never hurt nobody. 4.) Toppings: EVERYTHING! If you can throw it on a pizza they probably have it and then some. All the meats you could want. If you’re a vegetarian don’t worry. There are more veggie toppings here than anywhere. All of it is fresh and taste great. I suggest adding the pesto and or balsamic glaze to your pizza no matter what pizza you get. 5.) Don’t feel like pizza? Get the pizza salad. My girl gets it often and loves it. 6.) Drinks: coke, a mix of different teas, lemonade, and plenty of great bottled beers and specialty drinks. 7.) Price: $ 8 for a mod size pizza which is enough to satisfy most big appetites. Drinks vary depending on whether you do fountain drinks or beer. 8.) Why eat here? Because you’re an idiot if you don’t.

One of my guilty pleasures! I pretty much pile on everything and love MODPIZZA! If you’re not familiar… Mod Pizza is a build your own pizza place, you pick and they bake! If that’s too overwhelming, they have a premade menu as well. They serve mini pizzas(~$ 5) in addition to regular sized ones(~$ 8). Only avoid this place if you can’t stand thin crust pizza… the crust has very little chew factor and it’s only purpose is to hold the toppings. Easily the best location since the employees are friendly and GENEROUS with the amount of toppings. They’ll seriously load up the pizzas at the Cottle location.

This is my go-to place for a delicious salad! Their pizza is delicious as well :) I highly recommend the honey lime sauce. Keep in mind that sometimes they get busy and since they customize each pizza and salad so you may want to give yourself an extra 10 minutes or so before you reach ultra hungry mode when getting food here.

Simple concept(fixed price per pizza size = unlimited toppings) done really well. They are true to their tag line; speed * style * pizza. Think we will be back!

This pizza place is sort of like the Subway of pizzas. You start by selecting your crust, then move down the line while they custom make your pizza to order. In about 5 – 10 minutes or so, your fresh pizza is all done. Every time I have been here, the people working have been super friendly — they either really love working there or do a fantastic job of faking it!

I love pizza! It’s one of my guilty pleasures. You can never go wrong with pizza. This was my first time going to this location. I have been to the one by Saratoga and other similar joints such as Pieology. What I love about this location is the SERVICE! Everyone here is so freaking friendly and actually smile and talk to you unlike the other Mod Pizza location where everyone seems like they hated their lives and did not want to be bothered. This location is like their polar opposite lol I would gladly drive the extra 15 – 20 min to this location because I feel welcomed here. Great job guys! Joe was very patient and helpful for my indecisive friend and I. I stuck with the Maddy and my friend ordered Joe’s special. The girl who helped me out was nice as well but I didn’t catch her name but she was cute and friendly and had a nice smile lol. The cashier was friendly as well. I loved that they also checked up on us while eating. Great people. Food — Awesome! I love thin pizzas. And I can usually finish a whole pizza on my own. Taste was on point. Concept — I love build your own establishments because I know there’s a lot of picky people out there and it’s usually hard to agree on one kind of pizza as well. I’m not picky but I love this chipotle style idea. Parking — Plenty of parking in the plaza that is shared with Chipotle, Starbucks, Ulta and more. Will come back for sure! Thanks for the awesome service!

I love this shopping center and I come here often to do a little shopping. Though I was always hesitant to come to Mod pizza. Sadly, I’m not a huge pizza person so it’s rare when I’m craving Pizzzzzaaaaaa!!! When I do crave pizza I’m usually good with 3 – 4 slices then I’m done. Alright alright alright!!! Let me start by saying the service here was GREAT!!! I give them a Two Thumbs Up! Why? The employees were nice and they delivered how a good customer service should be. I’ve been to Mod before but never ordered anything on their menu. This was my first time and finally I don’t have to hear myself say, «next time I’ll eat there.» The pizza were pretty good and I love the fact that they have beers on tap and they also serve wine. How cool is that! Mod also serves fresh brewed flavored teas which I love. The teas are not too sweet and very subtle. Lemonade was also pretty good. Cons: Hate there’s only one stalls in the bathroom.

I really really love the concept. It’s not the best I’ve had but it is the closest«MOD”-ifying pizza place by my place. Given, price wise I’d go for a pizza I could modify with crazy amounts of toppings than other chains. Anyways, let’s really get started here. Staff? SO, SO, SONICEANDFUNNY! The manager(?) was super adorable but she was so incredibly tired. The guy at the end who calls out your order? Super sweet and gets you everything you could possibly need to better your experience. Food? At start, it’s probably not the«toppings-filled pizza» you’d dream of because they need to save room just in the case you add every single item on your pie. Just saying. Some people are rude because they forget that. Just ask nicely for more. They don’t know what else you’ll want. They aren’t psychic. The crust is really really thin to the point where it was so crispy and somewhat burnt on the bottom I forced myself to eat it. Once in a while, I love myself a thin pizza. I just didn’t expect it to be so thin and not cut up when I got home. It seems smaller than Pieology but that could be because it’s thinner. I’d really have to look up Pieology’s details to remember but that’s just my first impression upon opening the box. Cute packaging idea, by the way, I couldn’t open it in the car to eat while driving. The aroma was killing me on the drive home, then yes, disappointment. ** forgot to add, you basically have to knife and fork it because all your toppings will fall off once you try to pick up your pizza as it flails over like a sheet of paper. Garlic slices = definitely not worth it. Don’t do it. I had seen my friend’s check ins on facebook and Unilocal and had been really, really excited to try this place out! I’m just never on this specific section of San Jose unless it’s Bill’s in the morning. I guess I should’ve actually read their reviews before coming. It is one of the later — opened places around this area so that was nice since I was on my way home really hungry, I just don’t know if I’ll be back anytime soon. If so, maybe for lunch when everyone’s not so exhausted already.

My first try at these type of «make your own pizza» establishment and I’m a fan! I’ve always loved the control I have at those make your own salads or chipotle so it was super fun making my own pizza with the ease of mind knowing no additional costs for toppings. I literally walked down the line and added whatever topping sounded good. The pizza came out promptly(however I did beat the lunch rush, a line formed after I finished ordering). At the end, I had the option to drizzle some sauce on it. «Balsamic fig please.» The pizza tastes good! Crust was crispy. Toppings were fresh. Service was kind and courteous. Everyone was respectful and quick with their service. Prices were extremely affordable for what you’re getting. I’ll definitely return here again.

One of my fave lunch rotations. I am trying to eat smaller portions so I always order a mini pizza which comes out to under $ 5 after tax. I love to customize my pizzas as I feel like switching it up from time to time :) As much as I want to load up my pizzas with all the toppings, moderation is key. Plus, the crust isn’t strong enough to hold up all the toppings if you go overboard. Service is always friendly and polite. Great place for a quick meal made to order! See you guys soon!

MOD Pizza(MP) is another in a long line of «build-your-own-pizza» chains that has invaded the local dining scene like ants at a picnic. MP originated in Seattle back in 2008, and has quickly expanded to over 70 locations nationwide. They have the same format as all the others: make your own pie with unlimited toppings for one flat rate. I’ve been to this location a few times now, and –quite frankly– have not been impressed. Here’s the breakdown: Crust– The crust at MP is not great by any means, but tolerable. It’s very reminiscent of a soda cracker, and one of co-workers described it as a «flour tortilla on steroids.» They do get a nice char on the crust, and(to borrow a term from the fabulous Glenn G) had a good«independent suspension.» Read: no sag when you pick-up a slice. 2.5* Toppings– MP’s toppings are fresh and of an above-standard quality, and they have a great selection. I really appreciate that they had multiple types of fresh and sundried tomatoes to choose from, but I wish they carried fresh cheese(i.e., mozzarella, ricotta, etc). 3.5* Sauce– The sauce is pretty uninspired and bland; they could really use a spicy variation like Blaze to perk things up a bit. 2* Service & Ambiance– The workers are always friendly, but they can be a bit stingy on the toppings. I like to keep my pies pretty simple, so what few toppings I do want I like to make sure they’re well dispersed. The interior has a modern/industrial feel to it which is not very inviting and can be quite loud, but at least it’s clean. 3* Value– The set price of $ 7.87 for a decent-sized personal pie makes MP a really ideal spot for a quick and cheap meal. 4* I’d rate MP at a solid 2.5-stars, but I’m going to have to round down in this case because I couldn’t think of any reason to give them the ½-star bump. However, MP is still a good value and decent. I won’t be in a rush to come back, but because it’s the only worthwhile dining option in the area I may not have a choice if I have work close-by.

How can you not give a place like this 5 stars? If it sucks, then it’s your fault because you told them exactly what to put on your pizza! Ok ok, it actually can suck if their ingredients are sub-par but MOD has some pretty good ingredients including anchovies! Woot! Woot! What sets this place apart is the fact that they don’t only have standard-issue sodas, but a great selection of alternative drinks like these ice teas and lemonades. My favorite was the Marion Blackberry Lemonade. If weather permits, make sure you sit outside to enjoy the beautiful California sunshine and see how this new plaza has transformed. Soon this area will be bustling with tons of new residents as they are building tons of new condos across the street.

Noelle’s Unilocal Notebook 2015 MOD Pizza was founded in 2008 by husband and wife team Scott and Ally Svenson in the Seattle area. The Svenson family co-founded Seattle Coffee Company during the 90’s in London(and were eventually bought out by Starbucks). MOD Pizza has an extremely impressive team managing the company. MOD Pizza is located in the Village Oaks Shopping Center and is next door to Starbucks(kind of ironic since Mr. Svenson was once president of Starbucks in the UK at one point of his career). My hubs, 21 month old son and I parked in the middle of the shopping center and after our early morning shopping trip at Target we headed to MOD Pizza for an early lunch. Village Oaks Shopping Center is a great place for shopping and dining, it’s also very friendly for walking to and from the different retail locations. We were the first customers and were greeted by the friendly staff. We ordered two pizzas and one small dessert pizza, a bottle of water(for myself), soda(for my hubs). The dough they used is pre-frozen and shipped to the different MOD pizza locations, but what makes it stand apart from it’s competitors is the fact it’s organic. The pizza toppings were fresh and delicious. The dessert pizza was SOGOOD– you pick your fruit topping and then they swirl cream cheese right before serving. For beverages they have water, milk, lemonade, milkshakes, beer on tap. My only complaint is the fact they don’t use large spoons for the toppings. The idea of the pizza maker dipping their gloved hand and seeing toppings fall into the other bins is kind of gross. They do not have any tree nuts in any of their food products which makes this an allergy free place for me. Delish fast food pizza, chill and awesome PacNW ambiance– make this a favorite in my Unilocal Notebook. Noelle’s Notes LOVE it!
