If it wasn’t for the bathrooms this place would have been 5 stars. The food was great, the stir fry section didn’t have many options but I got steak. Shrimp and onions w/my noodles and that was delicious. The downfall, the bathrooms were filthy. Toilet papers and Seat covers all over the floors. Urine and bowel in all but one toilet, only two toilets flushed. The only downfall for me, definitely a good place for Chinese. Next time I’m in San Jose, I’ll definitely come here again.

This place is usually ok. I recently went with my Nephew And Niece and the waiter was bringing back my Nephews drink when SHESPILLEDITALLOVERHIMANDTHETABLE!!! If anyone has been there you guys know how big the cups are so yeah, that’s a lot of Sprite!!! A mistake YES! It happens, but when it happens to THATEXTREME I know the«HOUSE» pays the tab!!! Out of just pure courtesy!!! It’s like LEAVING A TIP, we as customers don’t have too, but we do because it’s a courtesy to the waiter/waitress… Anyway, When I went to the counter I told the man the situation and Turns out the idiot at the counter, «KEVIN» or Atleast that’s the name he gave me said, «it wasn’t MY fault, SHEDIDITNOTME!!!» Are you serious? I said«well doesn’t she work for you???» and he DIDNTGIVEANANSWER… I ended up paying the tab, but I also asked to speak with a manager, he stated the manager wasn’t there so I asked for a number and he gave me a business card and wrote his name down and said here… In the days past I’ve called but they did not let me talk with a manager… I’m sure this will not effect your restaurant because your the ONLY Chinese Buffett around, but if the owners of HOKAIDOSREADTHIS, know that THATS A DAMNSHAMEYOUALLOWYOUWAITERSTOSPILLDRINKSONCUSTOMERSANDSTILLHAVETHEMPAYTHETAB!!! YOUHAVE A RUDECOUNTERPERSONTHATPLACEDTHEBLAMENOTONLYONHIS«COWORKER» BUTONMETHECUSTOMER!!! Have some class, paying the tab is never a problem, just figured you would’ve took the initiative and handle that for your MISTAKE…

It’s not a superb buffet restaurant, but it’s better than most for the price they charge. The buffet area is also cleaner than most buffet restaurants I’ve been to. It’s not the cleanest but at least the attendants take the time to ensure that the area is free from food debris and spills.

Cheap buffet it gets a 4 star… Really good value. But when compared to Vegas quality at 3x more cost this doesn’t measure up. Millbrae and Daly City has more offerings and better taste at $ 2 more. Fried stuff is crispy. Fish is a bit fishy. Veggies and chicken rules here as the cost here is a better price proposition.

We’ve always enjoyed the Hokkaido at the San Bruno location but when we heard word of the new San Jose branch, we were elated! Unfortunately, its not at all comparable to the San Bruno restaurant. The taste and quality of their menu selection wasn’t all that great; even at the bargaining price of $ 17.95pp. I would recommend China-China Buffet, which is around the block rather than here.

Oh my! This place smells as the toilet cleaners entering the dining room! Lost my appetite, but ended up moving to a table near the front door. Went in for lunch and the fried whole shrimp was crunchy yet coated with a whole bunch of MSG… Dry mouth and thirsty for about 4hours not cool. The sushi bar was ok. The fried chicken was red, and the ice cream machine squirted black greenish liquid at first. You do the thinking what that was. This place is huge but I think it lost a lot of its happiness long ago. Just like most buffet in the Bay Area quality over quantity is not applicable. Skip this place.

The restaurant is big and very well put together. Looks very clean and everything is very well lit. If you are going to eat here make sure you stick to the sushi and sashimi because the hot food is defenetly not the way to go. The reason I said that is due to the fact that the hot food tasted old or like it has been sitting around for a minute. I personally like the the pork chop and Wong tong chesse I can’t give it no more than three stars because the food was not so great. It’s a buffet what more can you expect.

The place is clean. The food is fine for an Asian buffet. Sushi was what I ate most and appears and tastes fresh. Service was adequate — sat us down, got us drink orders and took finished plates.

Had been here a few times when it was Supper Buffet, quit coming as it was tired and old. Came last night to see if things had improved since new ownership. Also been doing the low carb thing to lose the little holiday cheer thats been hanging on. Looks alot cleaner, fresh, the food looked decent, small portions cooked at a time so its fresher. All the areas were full of great looking food. Tried most of the protein dishes, most were really good, did the make your own stir fry with chicken, shrimp,(the shrimp were cleaned well with no mud vein present) jalapenos, and cabbage. Honestly the food was good, there was nothing I took one bite of and left. Bill was 40.00 for 2, paid and left. In the next 10 hours I was in the restroom at least 5 times, ugh. But I lost 6 lbs!!! Dont think well be going back

Raised prices without notice; bathrooms really stink and are very messy. Toilets often unflushed and dirty and unmanaged. We are frequent customers and usually don’t complain, but it has really gotten bad. Manager was very rude when it was mentioned. Don’t sit in the booths; customers often push their backrest seats into you. food is ok, but attitudes and bathrooms ruin the meal.

This restaurant use to be Super Buffet but they changed owners awhile ago. It’s a little bit better than before but the food was still pretty mediocre. Their prices are also a little higher compared to other local buffets, especially for dinner. However, I did like how there was plenty of parking and even at peak hours, there was no wait into the buffet. Their service was pretty good, clearing my plates pretty regularly and they remain open between lunch and dinner. Nevertheless, the food quality was a little questionable and the bathrooms were filthy. Most of the food looked like it’s been sitting there for a long time too. The seafood didn’t taste that fresh and the sushi was pretty disappointing. There was a lot of imitation crab and they really pack the sushi with a ton of rice. Also, be careful with the raw sushi because some of the tuna didn’t taste too fresh. Overall, the service was okay but I probably won’t be coming back anytime soon!

This place recently changed owners, it used to be super buffet. The food is in the middle of a 2 star and 3 star, nothing much has changed with new owners besides the sushi bar is bigger and has more variety of sushi. I only come here once a year for my grandpa’s birthday. Yesterday was my grandpas 101th birthday. The only thing I ever only enjoy about this buffet is the seafood and sweet buns and the mediocre dessert. The place is clean, haven’t ran into a dirty utensil or plate. So thumbs up for that. Only thing that was inconvenient was they only give each person one napkin, and you literally have to search someone down to give you some more napkins. Other than that, I wouldn’t come out of my way to eat at this buffet unless it was a special occasion. On the bright side, they have tons of parking.

The food was surprisingly tasty, but can still be improved. At first glance, their food looked too ordinary and similar to most Chinese buffet restaurants. But when we actually started eating, everything was freshly cooked which was very good. We went here thinking it was the same Hokkaido as the one that used to be in Foster City, but they just have the same name. We asked one of the waiters about it and they confirmed that this Hokkaido has nothing to do with the one we were looking for. I still think it’s a pretty good spot if you’re hungry though.

Probably the best of the«Asian all you can eat buffets» left in the south bay, most have faded away, but hit and miss. All the traditional items that you would come for were very good: crab, shrimp ribs. Hell, we came on Thanksgiving and they even had a pretty good deep fried turkey(looked dry but dip in the pan juice first and I no longer missed my turkey dinner) Other items were diappointing. The already prepared Chinese food was meh, surprising because the staff was all Chinese. Fruit meh too. Deserts were standard fair, almond cookies excellent others tastless. The place was almost empty on Thanksgiving, but plenty of food and most seemed fresh. The place is clean, even the bathrooms were ok(not great but better than average for a chinese restaurant) I hope the place last, I would recommend, but you need to be selective about what you pick, but some of the ifems(fried shrimp for example were the best I have had). … real rating: food 2.5 to 4 stars. clean 3+ stars. service was very good for this type of place. Bathrooms still could be better.

I came here last weekend for a birthday celebration. To begin, the atmosphere is nice and festive, and our party was able to take over one portion of the restaurant. Our space was roomy and clean, so lots of opportunity to walk around and socialize. As for the food, the hot foods were good. They had your usual Chinese varieties of beef, chicken, and fish dishes. I especially liked the seafood pastry and the hot and sour soup. However, I was really looking forward to the sushi and was a bit disappointed. There was really only one type of sushi roll that was not based on a California roll. Instead I had a California roll, both with imitation and with fresh crab, in about 8 different varieties. They also pack way too much rice into each sushi roll. Probably a way to save money. As for dessert, they could use a bit more variety. They have fruit(not necessarily fresh), 3 – 4 varieties of cookies, jello, tapioca pudding, and soft serve ice cream(no toppings for the ice cream, though). It was fun being there for the birthday celebration, but I don’t think I’ll be returning for the food.

Lot of cheaper type of sushi to pick from I am not impress with the other entrée stuff though. They put entrée items on a large oval plate and there is no steam warmer to keep the hot warm to hot. I gone to this place once and didnt’ like the selection. The waitress was nice so I left her a tip.

Visited today after maybe a year or so since the previous owners let the ship sink when super buffet. Food it great, they Cook small portions but always fresh and hot. Sushi is beautiful and tastes good. Overall service is excellent the only downside is that only two servers for the dinning room. I’m sure that will change when it gets busy.

Came in despite the negative reviews. Came in at 1pm for late lunch with fam. I was expecting bad service and bad food but I was surprised to find that though I didn’t get any smiles from the server, they were courteous and helpful. The facility is clean and the food was good. There were plenty of good choices especially for the sushi bar. The food area was kept clean at all times as well. I would recommend this place and will be coming back.

Oh god this place is a turdhole. Found scurrying roaches in the restroom. If there are roaches in daylight that usually means there’s a huge infestation. The food is generic Chinese buffet that you find anywhere but the quality is so crap here it’s not even worth it for the price. Also the employees are really awkward, don’t expect any good service here. There is seriously nothing good about this place. Do not come here. Update: i had diarrhea when I got home wow

Got recommended by my uncle. Came over for quick lunch. What else do you expect for $ 10 buffet? The food selection is huge. The food was delicious and fresh. Sushi, dim sum is what I definitely recommend to try. Customer service is okay. Fast and clean. 5*

Came here on friday night at 7pm. The place is pretty easy to find since I’ve been to super buffet before(it’s old restaurant’s name). To my surprise there is a tour bus parked outside, later I found out it was a tour bus from Los Angeles… um okay, I feel bad for those tourists since chinese food in LA is much higher quality than here. Anyhow, we were quickly seated and we chose to sit close to the food(big tip for eating in a Chinese buffet). Beverages besides water are extra. The first impression was, this is exactly the rebranded super buffet. Same décor, food, everything. I don’t recall if they had that many sushi to choose from back then. But it isn’t that much anyway. Most plates you can quickly guess that has been sitting there for a while. That’s the way it is with a deserted restaurant… Kudos to the pick your own stir fry dish chef. He is very friendly and approachable. Don’t be afraid to customize the sauce and how you like the stir fry. I chose garlic with some spicy. Suprisingly good, maybe it’s because he used butter to cook. Interesting take on a Chinese style stir fry. Sure, let’s call it fusion? Probably won’t come here again. With a little more buck, I recommend tomi in east ridge mall. Much better selection.
