El Grullo

I used to frequent Jaliscos down the street, but then I realized that the food there sucks and I was only there most of the time for drunchies since it was open late (¾am). El Grullo opens til 12am which isn’t bad for those late night cravings.
Their chicken burritos here were pretty good. The chicken is tender and it’s not dry at all. I’ve been coming by more for their vegetarian burrito which is perfect for my cravings. They have a good mix in the burrito. There are times however where I wished it was better wrapped. Sometimes I find myself needing to use a fork/​spoon to eat it. Definitely not a good idea to eat this in the car, it will be a mess!

One of my favorite taco places in SJ. Their taquitos are simple but addicting. Loved their al pastor. Well marinated and balanced with their vegetable-​meat ratio. Their salsa is also a great addition to their tacos.
They also have different kind of casino-​arcade games as well as really cheap older movies! check it out!

The best pollo soup in town, it’s so tasty and so light, also carne asada is very yummy, nice staff and decent prices, it’s located on the corner lot and easily seen, love it

Ive been coming here for 10 years and they have the best Tacos in San Jose. The employees are very friendly and whenever i have a complaint they fix it right away. Also, the waiters are always cleaning and making sure everything is spotless.

The service is always ideal. The food is always so bomb! Will definitely come back.

I’m a burrito snob and this is my favorite place. I drive all the way from the other side of town just to satisfy my craving. If you like authentic Mexican food, you will appreciate this place. I have been coming here for over 10 years and I’ve only ever tried two things on the menu. Super burrito and the little taquitos. Both are delicious. Las aguas frescas and micheladas are great too!

I’ve come here to eat the tacos but I don’t come here anymore because they have bad customer service the owner is SOOO rude she bump into me and didn’t even say excuse me and I was standing in line waiting to order i was really annoyed with this and that food isn’t that great like to come back for it I rather go a little further for better food some of the people here are very rude if you don’t want to be treated like crap I don’t recommend this place their not giving the food away for free we are paying for it

I got the super quesadilla from one of the reviews and it was packed. It was good and tasty. I love the avocado in the quesadilla. I was tasty but it didn’t make me go crazy and I would love to try more things to get the five star. However, I do recommend this place and you should go for some good tasting Mexican food.

I have been here numerous times and finally came to decision of giving a review.
I always order their al pastor, can’t go wrong with it. Juicy marinated pork, good spice and consistent every time. I get it in burrito or taco style. Their salsa that they include with orders is good. Not too spicy and you can tell homemade, I always ask for extra.
Their Chimichanga plate is awesome, again I always get al pastor as my choice of meat. Nice and crispy and the side of spanish rice and beans really fills you up.
Carne Asada Fries — Nice helping of cheeses and choice of meats. Compared to other establishments, this order was not at all soggy while eating so the portions of salsa cheese and meat is great. The quality of the fries yells to me frozen then fried. Overall it’s ok when you want that nacho fries fix.
I would recommend this if you’re in the area and want your Mexican craving.

The only place I go when it comes to authentic Mexican Tacos the Asada. I specially care for the small and easy to eat bite size tacos, every time I order I always ask for a side of Cenoriasm/​Jalapenos

Love this place! We come here atleast once a week. We especially love cindy & ester, very good service! All the food is delicious.

The aperance isn’t so nice or the bathrooms either but I really love their tacos. They are delicious! Espically the asada ones. Also have really great service with nice waitress

I give the pozole 5 stars. Its great! I will always get my soup from here. On the other hand… the carne asada tacos have no flavor. I will not order them again. Thats why i give it 3. Carne asada should always taste great at a mexican restaurant. Their horchata is 5 star too. Really good.

Minus 2 stars. Just left this place. I usually rave to everyone where I just tried some great food because obviously I love sharing. But I guess this is my last straw. Came in to get some quick togo.
My regular. a shrimp burrito, diablo style.
Before, I would usually order other random stuff so I would notice buuuut. tonight. A new lady was at the cashier. I told her my order and she came to the total of 11.42, that doesnt sound right at all.
Lady. do you think im dumb? Or new? Cause you just lost a customer. I wont be back. Time to go find a new shrimp burrito to rave about.

This place is soooo good. Most of the food is less than $ 5 an it is authentic Mexican food not fast good. The service is very fast an it’s a small mom pop restaurant. I will continue coming here ordering my delicious tacos!!!

I consider this pretty authentic, I’m picky with Mexican food. Prices are reasonable. I will definately come again and try something new.

See this place on Unilocal.Okay, I’ve always passed by it but never eaten here. Decided to give it a try. Wasn’t really expecting much.
5 tacos, beans and rice. Chicken, Asada, and pastor. Decided to try the pastor taco first. Took my first bite, and
WOW
So much flavor. Perfect balance between tender and fatty. I couldn’t believe what the hell just went into my mouth. I immediately wished I had gotten 5 pastor tacos. Not saying the other meats were bad, chicken was good and asada was pretty good, but damn that pastor. Was not expecting that at all. Mind you, I love pastor more than any other meat so I always order it when I try a new place. 5 stars just for the pastor. Idk about eating there or anything. But will definitely be back for that pastor.

Great and friendly service… i love the burritos, quesadillas, rice and beans. Authentic Mexican food!!:) :p…only negative is cash only.

History:
Never had a burrito before until that day & the reason being is that I’m lactose intolerant and therefore I hate cheese and burritos have too much cheese.
No, I did not confuse cow’s head with cheese.
Cabeza is too chewy for me and therefore I would not try lengua.
TIP: Don’t eat a whole burrito if you can’t deal with cheese like me. I got sick the first time I ate a whole burrito for a few days… no bueno. Just take whatever leftover togo, leftover burritos are awesome! [:

My boyfriend ordered for me: super burrito with cabeza.
I HATE CHEESE, BUT I LOVED IT! SOOOO GOOD, I reaaaallly enjoyed the white onions in the middle (half center), it was a lovely unexpected surprise. I didn’t even use hot sauce! (no sauce approval means it’s reallyyy good).

Always passed by this place, but never went in. (My parents don’t do Mexican food for the main part).
They have cow tongue too, but I don’t plan on trying that although, I hear it’s really good in the food!

I’ve been here multiple times. Granted, it’s not the best but it’s cheap and authentic Mexican food.
Quick service and they have a variety of things on the menu. I like their tacos. I love their huevos rancheros (they use 3 eggs!!) and love the sauce even more. I extremely love their micheladas. Hands down, the BEST MICHELADAS EVER and I’m so happy my boyfriend’s mom was able to get the recipe from the owner herself. =D
