El Girasol

My wife and I were both so impressed by this restaurant. The food was outstanding — the calamari appetizer, entrees and dessert were prepared perfectly and with elegant presentation. The flavors were fantastic! Service was really great, décor was elegant, atmosphere was quiet and relaxed. Pricing was very reasonable. Such a lovely place and an outstanding dining experience. This place will definitely top on our list for all our future trips to San Jose. Don’t let the limited curb appeal of the neighboring businesses give you any reason to pause, this place is amazing!

Un mocajete — aqui eso es una delicia. Try the Mocajete that is to die for. Love the cool drink and the great service. I had the Preparara mineral water with salt and cucumber. Did I mention the great service by the waitress.

Came to get ceviche and it was extremely plain
There is no flavor in the fish ceviche whatsoever.
Also, asked for a water and they gave me a very generic water bottle. Also, my friend ordered a chavela and it was watered down.
Highly do not recommend this place because I paid 16 $ for two tostadas

This place is not where people come to eat good food & get some good drinks by friendly staff. This is a place where old tired horny perverted men go grovel at the waitresses. The only reason I think this place is still here is because of the location. Even if they sold watermelon chunks with lime & salt people (mostly men) would still come here cause it’s the TROPICANA! DUH your going to get customers.
Este lugar no es un restaurant donde la hente va a comer comida Rica y k los atiendan bien. Es un lugar donde van hombres cachondos insatisfechos a verles las chichis y nalgas a las meseras. K es lo unico bueno k tiene este lugar. Tiene meseras «bien buenotas» la unika razon k yo pienso k este lugar sigue aki es x sus meseras y la locasion. Esta en la tropkana. Obvio k te van a caer clientes aunk vendas sandia con Limon y chile

If you like seafood this is a place to go. Its a Mexican bar music tends to be loud in the afternoon but mornings mostly family environment. Waitresses are nice and the owners are also always around! I love this place once you get to know the people it’s seems more like home. Their also hold sport event like fight nights and they have about 8 tvs all across the place.

Actually, no. But before that let me go from the start.
Location: east side San Jose, tropicana shopping center… Tucked in the back corner… The establishment is small, it’s a bar with some tables on the outer perimeter. There is security working at the door.
Experience: you come into an excessively loud environment, seat your self and wait for a waitress… In the mean time you are like meat on a stick for all the male clientele… not very respectful or discreet about their «evaluation» of you.
Receive a menu, order. Make sure you kinda shout because it’s noisy so it’s hard to hear and be heard
Wait time for the food was good, they provided chips in the mean time, food came looked good, tasted good all of that was good… Yum…
I do not believe this is a family friendly place, they do have high chairs for babies but I don’t think children should be here, it’s a bar scene… Don’t take a girl on a date here either, not classy
Adiós Amigos:
Time to leave the check is dropped off, as my dad went to pay our waitress came up to our table and began clearing it, ok cool she wants to get ahead of the game… Then she proceeds to swipe the table with her hands, pushing all of the tostada chunks and cracker crumbs to the floor! Uh ok nice cleaning?! So she said to us I have to make sure this table is super clean since I served you, I’m thinking ok here comes the disinfecting wipe or rag or something to wipe down… Nope. She just dusted off some crumbs with her hands… Didn’t come back and sweep. Then we just left.
In conclusion: if those are their cleaning standards in front of the customer out in public it terrifies me what they might do in the kitchen, how they clean and disinfect… Sea food is a tricky business and I don’t feel safe coming back here to eat. The food tasted good, but not THAT good to over look everything else…
O and they over charged from what the menu pricing was. GOOD BYE.

Worst place to eat. City of San jose has to go and inspection this place to make sure they can sell food. Nasty.

The food is really good, but the service is horrible. The first times I went it was okay service, but the this time the waitress was rude and took our order wrong.

service not so good. didnt have horchata or menudo on a sunday, they ran out of it before 2pm. chips were too hard. the chip salsa was good I asked for more cuz my food needed flavor. food was blend nothin special, they put more onions then meat. music was too loud felt like I was at the club and it was to loud that waiters passes by me without hearing me trying to get their attention. kind of expensive n not worth it. they should just turn it to a bar for drinks since they already have a bar island n stools.
