Just went today with my family for late lunch. Very good tacos. We order fry fish tacos, chicken tacos, and husband order the big chunk of oysters… Everything was so delicious. I really loved the green sauce as well… Can’t wait to go back again… Love the food and place is clean and well organized…

If your looking for Tacos or Nachos, this is not the place. We ordered tacos de Asada, Pastor, and pollo. We also ordered Nachos and Una tostada de ceviche. Tortillas are the norm… nothing special not even passed thru a Lil oil. The carne asada had no flavor and tasted old. The carne al pastor was aiight, but could be better. The chicken taco was totally gross which was served to my 2 yr old that I immediately took from her and had her eat the flavorless beans and rice instead. The tostadas were aiight, but I’ve had better. The place was clean and customer service seemed good. Bathrooms are outside of the restaurant which seemed to be a positive. 2 stars for cust SVC n cleanliness.

Stumbled upon this hidden gem among the motels and used car lots on First street today… this just might be the best taqueria I have eaten at in a very long time! I had carne asada tacos and a tostada de ceviche. The asada in the tacos was on point! Moist, flavorful and best of all the meat was not fatty! The ceviche was good too! This taqueria is clean and the staff was friendly and that is a huge plus for me! I will definitely return!

the best shrimp cocktail in the bay area. Ceviche is delicious. Make sure to order the shrimp cocktail warm, it’s the best

My boyfriends mom has been raving about this place for a few weeks now so we decided to have brunch here on Saturday after a football game. She previously had brought some shrimp cocktail over to our house that was hella good, so I was all for having lunch here. I ordered the 2 Baja taco plates which was 2 fish tacos, rice & beans. I think this plate was about $ 8.50. We also ordered the shrimp cocktail with octopus to share. My bf also ordered the shrimp burrito(not pictured).Everything was so delicious. The fish in the taco was lightly battered and cooked perfectly and wasn’t too heavy. The shrimp cocktail had a generous amount of shrimp and octopus. Everything on the menu is reasonably priced and everyone was very pleased with their food. I would definitely dine here again and recommend to others.

Great prices and great food. I love their fish tacos. Their fish tacos are one of the better fish tacos in the Bay Area. After having fish tacos in San Diego, the fish tacos in the Bay Area became average to me but not this place. I can get 3 fish tacos for about 9 $. The fish tacos are perfect size, not too big and not too small. I usually get full after 2 fish tacos. I love their battered fish. It’s crispy on the outside but soft and airy on the inside. Oh, and the sauce they use for the tacos is like crack. It makes the fish tacos complete. Sometimes, they don’t put enough of the orange sauce on the taco but I compensate it with hot sauce and pico de gallo. Also, their burritos are very satisfying. I got a steak supreme burrito for $ 6.00! Just $ 6.00!!! and it’s not a small little burrito. Some places would skim the meat but not this place! They always give me a big fat burrito. Enough for me to eat during lunch and then save the other half for dinner. Minus one star for the seafood ceviche. I didn’t like their seafood ceviche. I love seafood and usually can handle the seafood smell but their ceviche has a lingering after taste that bothered me a bit.

This place is amazing! It’s super clean and I love the food!!! I ordered the spizzazed out clams and OMG … It had everything I’ve ever dreamed of. On a plate. LOL!!! Ah! People are nice here. But just a word of caution … ordering those clams took a while. So order a taco or two while you wait. I digs!

Love this place! We drive down from San Mateo in the weekend for fish tacos and guacamole. Incredible! The shrimp cocktails are generous but a little bland. Bring your spicy stuff or use theirs to liven it up

I’m drawn to consistency when it comes to good food, especially traditional good food. I know nachos are not traditional Mexican food, however the food on the chips are in this case. Caritas done right are moist and shredded just enough. The guacamole has all the right ingredients. The Pico de Gallo made fresh. Plenty of pickled jalapeños and crema. All together this is one deliciously traditional dish. Thank you Caguamas!

I absolutely love ceviche and this place NAILS it! I have been going to La Costa on Monterey forever so when I heard that they opened a restaurant, I had to go. It is a simple restaurant and I love that there is plenty seating. Ordering is a breeze as you just order at the counter and wait until they call your number. SHRIMPANDOCTOPUSCEVICHEISMYFAVORITEAND A MUSTFORSEAFOODLOVERS. If you’re very adventurous with seafood, I recommend getting their seafood platter that comes with crab, shrimp, octopus, fish topped with an avocado along with tostadas. Another thing that I love are their oysters, boy do they have some FAT oysters. I got the prepared oysters($ 11.50 for half a dozen), which is topped with octopus and shrimp. Soooo gooood! Drown that in hot sauce and it’s on point! I think the prices are absolutely fair for the portion that you get. Next time I crave Mexican seafood, will definitely come here!

Prices are great, portions are huge! The carnitas tacos are just $ 1.50 each. My wife and I ate there yesterday — and went back again today. For today’s lunch, we originally ordered 3 carnitas tacos on the phone, but when I picked up the order, there were only 3. Well guess what — those three tacos alone with a side of guac was filling enough for the two of us, and I’m a hefty guy! I wish I’d taken a photo — I guess I’ll have to go back tomorrow again. Lunch for 2, for less than $ 7 — talk about a cheap date. And the best part is, you don’t feel cheap afterwards! Not only are the meat servings generous in quantity, but the flavor is wonderful as well. Sometimes, when I get really good Mexican food, I can’t help but wonder if the Mexicans and the Chinese are long-lost distant cousins. The meats are so well flavored, savory and aromatic without being too salty — it’s a real art, a lost art. Caguamas is one of those places that does meat right. The only downside — I wish they served lengua and menudo!

The parking lot has 2 entrances, so if you miss the first parking lot, turn right and enter the other entrance. It’s Michelle-Proof lol. Shrimp Ceviche– I think I handle spicy foods well. This being said, the ceviche is a little on the hot side. I had to stop and eat some tortilla to calm down the heat. I was a bit worried because they only let the lemon juice cure the shrimp, but it was totally cured/done/well. Fair ratio of cucumber, tomato, and shrimp bits. Baja Taco– THEFISHTHOUGH!!! Light, fluffy, fresh. Yummmmm. The sauce was great. The cabbage slaw was slightly marinated. Good stuff… Overall very good. The bathrooms are outside and you need a key!

This place. Kills me. Okay, so let’s start with the seafood because that’s the namesake of this spot. I have to say, I’m not a big fan of their oysters *at all*. They’re sort of not super fresh, not really awesome, and just kind of slimy and gross. But, why, you wonder, that I gave this place 5 stars?! Well, it’s simple. Many food places have things that they excel at beyond all other places, but it doesn’t mean ALL of their food is good. If I were you, especially given the great seafood freshness availability in the bay, I’d skip the oysters here. However, you. must. get. the. tacos. All of them. No really, we had both meat and seafood /fish tacos and they were delicious. The sauces they used were delicious, the Caguamas Cocktail was delicious(except for the rando oyster) — but do skip the jumbo size as it was way too much even for two people. They also have mulitas. I must admit this is the first time I’ve had a mulita, but it was deeeeeeelicious and did NOT disappoint. Highly recommended.

Not a huge seafood fan, but I’m always search for the best authentic tacos carne asada or carnitas. The tacos were tasty but not worth a special trip. Service was courteous and the place was cleaner than your typical taqueria.

Enormous shrimp cocktail — very generous with the shrimp, too. Sitting outside is pleasant. My husbands burrito was only so-so. It was called a vegetarian burrito but it was just their meat burrito without the meat — there was not anything to replace the meat. Also the lady told us there would be cream cheese in the burrito but it was sour cream — which we preferred. Nice self serve salsa bar.

De los más decente que se puede encontrar en San José, las tostadas de ceviche de camarón, muy sabrosas. No descuiden la limpieza del lugar. Es de lo notable también. Muy bueno!!!

In typical bay area fashion we come to Caguamas at 4 ½ stars on Unilocal. The location is conveniently located in the Washington neighborhood of San Jose near downtown. They specialize in seafood but have the usual meats(carnitas, carne asada, etc) you will find at most taquerias in San Jose. I ordered a shrimp taco, carne asada taco, and a mulita. Everything was cooked ok the meat was not overdone and flavorful. The mulita had the right amount of cheese and meat ratio also. The shrimp taco was ok for what you pay. The shrimp taco is garnished with cabbage tomato relish, grilled bell pepper, grilled onions, and a orange sauce. The orange sauce was unique and had a decent kick to it. Overall the food was ok in my humble opinion not the best and not the worst in San Jose. Considering the quality of Mexican food in San Jose I have to give this location 3 stars. 1 star for location, 1 star for ok food, 1 star for service. I couldn’t find anything exceptional in my opinion to give it another star.

I came to Caguamas after seeing all the rave reviews from Unilocal. This place did not disappoint. I am typically more of a guy that enjoys beef/chicken in my burrito but I just happened to be in the mood for something different. I ordered the shrimp ceviche and two baja tacos. The ceviche was fantastic and there was no fishy smell or taste whatsoever. It had the perfect amount of acidity and the diced cucumbers complemented the shrimp very well. The baja tacos were generously portioned and were also very tasty. They have a salsa bar and I had a bunch of side salsas prepared but none was necessary as the seasoning and flavor was already spot on for both the tacos and the ceviche. Definitely looking forward to coming back to Caguamos and I may have found a healthier alternative to La Victoria’s(which is delicious but makes me feel guilty every time I leave).

4 – 4.5STAR. My wife found Caguamas about 2 months ago, when we were desperately trying to find a place(other than La Vic’s in San Jose) for burritos and tacos. It turns out that Caguamas not only does burritos and tacos, but they are also well known for their seafood, including ceviche tostadas! Quick suggestions: get the ceviche de camaron, taco baja, and burrito supremo with carne asada. For a more detailed breakdown, here is a list of the items we’ve tried and what I think about them: 1) Ceviche de camaron(tostada) — $ 3.50 each, rate a 4.5−5 out of 5. We get this every time we go — and we’ve gone about 4 times now. For $ 3.50 this tostada is packed with ceviche on top. It is really tasty and has that great sour taste that you want in ceviche. We get the tostada, but there is also the option to get the ceviche cocktail, which is a huge serving in a chalice-like glass. We will have to try that one day. 2) Taco baja(pescado/fish) — $ 2.65 each, rate a 5 out of 5. This fried fish taco is amazing!!! The fish is freshly fried and provides an amazing texture with the rest of the ingredients in the taco, including cabbage, tomato and a little sour cream. It also has a kick to it with a special type of orange/red salsa, which makes it taste amazing. This might be my favorite item on the menu. Can easily eat 3 – 4 of these in one sitting. 3) Burrito supremo with carne asada — $ 5.50, rate a 4 – 4.5 out of 5. This is another one of our favorite items. It is a huge burrito stuffed with rice, beans, slices of avocado, sour cream, cheese, pico, and choice of meat. We always get it with carne asada, and they fill this burrito to the brim! My wife and I always share this because it’s a monstrous burrito. Do not attempt to eat on your own, unless you are starving. 4) Carne asada plate — $ 7.50, rate a 3.5−4 out of 5. We tried this the first time we went. But then, we realized we probably could have just stuck with the carne asada burrito. The plate wasn’t bad. It was a heaping portion of carne asada(one piece), which you had to cut on your own before putting the ingredients into a flour tortilla. It was served very fresh — the carne asada was cooked on the grill and then plated. I prefer the burrito, because the chunks of carne asada are already cut up, but this was still a great dish regardless. 5) Taco gobernador — $ 3.25 each, rate a 3.5 out of 5. This is the one taco that we probably won’t order again. It is shrimp with some green peppers and a hot sauce on top. It wasn’t all that great, even though it’s listed as one of their specialties. Stick with the ceviche de camaron and the burrito supremo. We will be going back to Caguamas quite frequently. It might not be in the best of neighborhoods, but boy do they make some amazing tacos, burritos, and ceviche tostadas. They also have a deal where you can keep track of burritos purchased via the PunchPie app. After you buy 7, you get the 8th free! Sadly, we are all well on our way to that 7th burrito already LOL. They also have ample seating, lots of friendly service, and they have a couple flat screen TVs there as well, which is a nice touch. The restaurant is well kept and clean. One of my only gripes is that they have a tendency to close early, and they don’t stay open until 1 or 2am like other taco shops. This place closes around 8 – 8:30 depending on the number of customers still coming, so be sure to get there before they close! You’ll probably see us there! :)

Oysters shrimp octopus Oysters shrimp octopus Oysters shrimp octopus. Honestly, i was surprised when it was not busy on my first visit… the Oysters here are MASSIVE. There are so much ingredients put on these bad boys. and to KICK it with the green sauce they provide. It is near godly. Although it says 6 oysters for 11.50, do not be fooled. These oysters are like oysters on steroids… they will FILL you up. The shrimp tostadas are crackinnnn too. That is all, a 5 star location that is DIAMOND.

Definitivamente delicioso. Owner has great customer service and is very down to earth, not to mention the staff and their welcoming. I hope this keeps up through out time! All in all, I am very satisfied and will keep trying different options from their menu. Pictures to upload next!
