I craved coffee, but I didn’t want Starbucks(I don’t support them because they fund Zionists to kill innocent babies and people). I saw this place and thought I’d give it a try. The place is cozy and clean. I was greeted with a big smile by the woman who made my mocha. I enjoyed my coffee so much. The flavor of the chocolate was delicious and decadent. I would definitely come back.

Very cozy neighborhood coffee shop like you’d find in Europe. Locals drift in and out. The coffee is great. The proprietor is very friendly, prompt, and with an attention to detail. A really good find.

OMG! Sandwiches So simple and yet so delicious!!! A real gem, worth going out of your way to check it out! Only drawback, parking sucks!

Tried this place for the first time based on the Unilocal reviews. Tried their latte and must admit if you are in the area, and looking for coffee, it is the most authentic coffee. They way it’s supposed to taste rather than many popular chain brands. I just wish they would serve some morning pastries/rolls to go along with the great coffee.

Hidden Portuguese and coffee gem. Simply good COFFEE and friendly service. Starbucks folks need not apply unless you want to actually taste/enjoy coffee. The Garoto is great(smaller/stronger latte). And $ 2.50?! Will be back soon and often.

Stumbled upon this place my second day in San Jose. Super duper nice owners who were patient with me and helped me with making a choice for food. Delicious mocha coffee as well. The other customers were friendly and nice.

Review based purely on the coffee. It is the farthest thing from your diluted Starbucks coffee. It’s perfect. All I had was an iced latte and I was happy. There was milk and coffee in my latte and that was it. Was not overwhelmed with sugar, or anything else.
Definitely a hole in the wall type place. Would agree with other reviews about the atmosphere. Very chill — the two TVs, in what I assume to be Portugese, kind of way.

Was craving coffee and needed a place to go study for a little bit. This place is tiny and kind of hidden if you don’t look close enough. Ordered a vanilla latte. Not too bad. Strong coffee taste, but something was missing. I’m not sure what. Service was friendly and quick. Nice quiet place to go to if you’re nearby and wanted a place to hang out for a little.

Just completely wonderful and can I just say that I have pretty high expectations when it comes to espresso. I like it strong and good quality(European quality :) which is why this place is so perfect. It’s such a gem. I stumbled upon it when I needed a coffee on my way to a high school in the area. I have been coming here almost every day for two weeks and yesterday, the owner came to my table where I sat with colleagues and put a coffee in front of me. I asked, «What’s this?» He replied, «Your coffee.» Amazing. I hugged him. Almost wanted to cry. Now, that is family. I need to mention that my coffee wasn’t just a cup of coffee. It’s a half caf quad espresso and he knew this. I am Portuguese on my dad’s side but I speak Spanish, oddly. This place has made me want to learn Portuguese and come every day to speak it with the rest of the Portuguese folks there and drink the best f-ing coffee of my life. It’s a damn shame that I live 20 minutes away and now that I’m not working at the high school, it would be majorly out of my way, but I still intend to come back as much as I can. I’m totally in love. Totally!

Wow, I didn’t expect much when I dropped in for some coffee. The décor was not much to think of, very straightforward no fancy interior design to throw you off your space. You see what they have laid out there, that’s what they sell. Their menu sign prices may be a little off, but it lists everything on there so you don’t have to wonder about prices. Even the chocolate for a buck is listed. I bought a Mocha, informing the barista I didn’t like my drinks too sweet, and I got just that. I’m a big coffee drinker, I can tell the espresso beans that they use are really good quality. You can taste it in every sip, not overwhelmed by the chocolate syrup. Definitely the closest coffee shop to my house, I’m coming back here again!

Had my first white mocha here and bomb! Also a side note, if I can get beer at the same place I get my coffee it’s an automatic 5 star. Service was solid.

Kind of intense. Portuguese soaps playing on the television. Cheap, good European-style coffee. Excellent rolls with meat/cheese, also quite cheap.

The best espresso in town! Served in a warm cup so it never goes cold or luke-warm on you. It has the air of a true European café. If your lucky, you might even walk in midst of one of their lively soccer or political«discussions,» which is always entertaining. Great sandwiches and always a friendly crowd.

This place took me back to Europe. The shop is very tiny, but most European coffee places are super tiny, so it seemed very authentic. There were about 5 Portuguese men that seemed like regulars drinking their expresso. I had instant flashbacks of a shop I went to in Italy. I tried that garato, which is similar to a cappuccino, less foam, but just as strong. It was amazing :) I really wanted to try some of their food, but it was cash only and they have no ATM. If you want to travel to Portugal without leaving the states this place really gives you the authentic feel. The coffee was divine :) I will be taking a trip back to Europe soon! 4.5

The place is in the heart of the Portuguese community of San Jose! Such a landmark for the Portuguese-Americans! Love this place! Reminds me of Portugal as soon as you walk in and even from the outside! Come check out this little piece of Portugal-Azores!

Great place to socialize and grab a nice Portuguese Coffee in the morning! This is a great place, literally in the corner of the main strip of «Little Portugal!» The owners are super nice and love to help the Portuguese Community! There is a lot of selection and everything is great! No matter what time you go throughout the day, you will see Portuguese people sitting outside the Café, yelling,(Portuguese Characteristics Reference) my apologies, I mean talking and mingling with each other!

way cheaper than starbucks, very unique cozy family friendly place in the slightly sketchy little portugal area of east san jose. there aren’t very many coffee shops in my neighborhood, so it’s a welcome addition. i believe there was no additional tax on top of the listed price. 16 oz latte was i think only 2.50 $. came in and they were showing sports in portugese on a tv. wasn’t soccer, can’t remember what sport tho. something unusual. they have sodas from abroad, i got one that i believe was passion fruit flavored. they also have portugese pastries for sale on the counter. free wifi? hell yeah! there’s a dearth of spots like that near my house, unless you want to chill at a vietnamese«coffee» shop with half naked ladies, not really my thing. tables outside, a few tables inside, nothing fancy. this is the type of place middle aged and older guys hang out for hours. i didn’t feel skeezed out at all as a single lady hanging next to the male only crowd, no leering, but got the feeling if i wanted to chat with them they’d be friendly and have a lot of interesting stories. there are a few portugese restaurants across the street that seem to be hangouts, but they seem to be targeted to portugese people only, i would feel out of place hanging out as a non-portugese person. not open late, pity. but it’s not a great area, panhandlers and street walkers are not uncommon at night. not that wheelchair friendly as the counter is a tall bar, but i’m sure the barista would make accommodations to bring the coffee around the counter. tables outside would probably fit a wheelchair.
