One thing I really like about Bar Code is their mini drinks. You can get a small sized version of any of the drinks on their menu. Perfect for the little ones who can’t finish a regular sized drink. Their chicken and calamari aren’t spectacular, but they were good. Bar Code will be missed.

Still like this place. The servers are great but there’s no more pork chop!!! Noooooooo! Lol but it’s ok the chicken steak is really good. I usually get the honeydew milk tea and it’s delicious you should definitely try it! Unfortunately, they only have one size. It’s pretty average — like medium. Pretty small place so I usually just grab my stuff and go. Music videos are playing so time passes by pretty fast. really nice workers.

I really like the diversity of their drinks. They have like the OG milk teas(jasmine, Thai, and black) and then they have like this weird flower tea drink section which I absolutely love because my flavor palette craves that floral flavor. Today, I ventured out and got the plumberry passion tea and they were really informative about it, letting me know that it had a really strong flavor. I really love that flower taste so I was like eff it ima get it. Before I tasted it, they let me know that if I didn’t like it, they would change my drink and I thought that was pretty nice of them to offer that. It did have a strong flavor, so just saying… If you don’t like that flowery ish don’t get it!!! Get like honeydew milk tea. That drink never disappoints. The missing star is because their prices are kinda up there and they only offer one size drink, but all in all, I LOVETHEIRFOOD, DRINKS, ANDSERVICEOMG. Hella bomb. Yaaaaaaassss

Went here last night with a few friends to relax after dinner. Got there around 8:30, ordered our drinks and food. The service is here quick [by service I mean cashier] My buddy order milk tea, I got the green apple natural tea with boba and my other buddy got a crêpe. 1. Boba sucks here, or should I say«pearls»… no taste, bland… gross 2. Milk Tea sucks as well, bland and no taste. 3. Green Apple Natural Tea is tooo sweet and not that amazing to be honest. The Crêpe is good, +1 star for that. My other friends got the chicken bites and fries, didn’t try so I cannot give a rating. –2 Stars for distasteful drinks and«pearls». The place is also very, very tiny… not a great place to hangout with your friends as it’s just one narrow room that could fit up to 15 people. 3 Stars for speediness –2 stars for everything else.

I am a loyal customer to barcode. Words cannot be explained for this place. The workers here are awesome … Jimmy, Quyen, Gina, Cynthia, & Vivian. Whenever I come in they already know what drink I want and how I want it(peach green tea w/aloe less sweet). Most of their drinks are actually better than other places like tapioca express, quicklys, and etc. I love Ordering their crêpe, combo meals and snacks. The pricing for their drinks are cheap and inexpensive. the place is always clean. I always order the calamari & popcorn chicken & tofu ! The portion size is Bigger than most places for its price. The crêpe is on point lots of fruits & they have their homemade ice cream. good place to hang out with your friends to catch up to grab a drink. they have an outside patio on a hot summer day to enjoy their drinks. On the bright side they accept credit cards!

Came here a bunch of times and now it’s time for a review. Their milk tea is pretty good but I feel like it’s a little overpriced to be honest. I’ve had milk tea from other places that are just good or better for cheaper. However, I do like that they have other things on the menu(like crepes, food combos, and what not). Also, the are pretty fast when it comes to orders. You order and dig around for your wallet then boom– your drink is in front of you. Food takes maybe less than 5 minutes which is nice. I try and order fries or some other fried goodness when I come here though. My fave is the chicken or baby octopus. They also have dipping sauces near the register which are pretty good. They have curry ketchup, honey mustard and something else(I don’t remember.). Service is a hit or miss. Sometimes I get some awesome friendly people and then I get emotionless people the next time. Eh. Oh well. I’ll be back though, fasho tho Frodo.

Barcode has a wide variety of drinks and food. They have different types of teas, smoothies, desserts and food snacks. I usually get their milk teas when I come here. They’re okay. I’ve had better ones. Maybe because they use syrup? Idk. Their bobas are inconsistent. Sometimes they’re soft, majority of the time they’re kinda soft outside and hard in the middle. What I love about this place are their sweet potato fries and octopus! Plus they have curry ketchup which goes great with both! Environment wise, the interior looks pretty modern and clean. They also have outdoor seating which is nice during sunny days. Overall, mehhh on drinks, but yummy sweet potato fries :)

After a day full of good eats in the South Bay, grabbing some boba before driving back to SF was the only item left on my agenda. So, after previously enlisting the help of a certain fellow Unilocaler(thanks again Yannie!), my friend and I found ourselves at Bar Code. That is, after doing a little bit of circling and searching… Located in a ridiculously small complex(Google Maps shows it in the same one as 99 Ranch, but it’s actually next door), Bar Code is a relatively modest boba joint. Yet, despite their size, they offer up an impressive array of drinks and snacks — roughly 100 menu items to choose from? Although the popcorn chicken and Mango Mango drink someone was picking up looked pretty good, I limited myself to my usual order — BLACKMILKTEA with Boba. Though they don’t quite approach my all around favorite(Wonderful Foods in SF), I thought my drink was pretty darn tasty. I was a little worried when they said they couldn’t make it less sweet, but it was actually fine as is. The boba had a good consistency(maybe a little too chewy) and there was a good balance of tea and milk. If the flavor of the tea had been a little stronger, it would have been just about perfect. Since I’m not that familiar with other boba joints in the South Bay/San Jose, I can’t say if Bar Code is truly the best option around. However, I liked my drink quite a bit on top of the fact that the workers were kinda awesome. If/when I’m in the South Bay and looking for boba, Bar Code will be my go-to spot. Especially now that I know where they are and won’t need to wander around the 99 Ranch parking lot like a lost child. Again…

Bar Code disappointed. asked for coffee. got café latte. also on the menu is milk teas, snacks. milk teas look premixed. flavors look like syrup. brew: café latte(3.25) –tasted mostly milk(organic horizon), ltalian coffee(lavazza) didnt stand out. –took about ten minutes drips. –basically one cashier, one person doing prep –not much seating. –wouldn’t redo.

This is a decent place for boba tea and snacks. It’s really small so it’s not the ideal place to hang out but there are a few tables outside that I like to sit at. The drinks here are ok. Good in some days. Less good on others, but so far for me, never bad. I like their coconut jelly. The boba pearls are good somedays and slightly hard on others. There is only one drink-size though, which I find odd. If you become a member(give them your phone number) after 10 drinks you get one free. Nothing special about this place, but it’s consistent enough that I keep on coming.

Came here on my way to the mall and decided to grab something to drink to cure our thirst on a hot day. the boy got his taro milk tea and I had my usual passion fruit green tea w/grass jelly + lychee jelly & half less sweetened. Should’nt have been greedy and omit the lychee jelly because the syrup in the lychee jelly cancelled out my «less sweetened» request and added on double the sweetness. We also got the calamari and popcorn chicken, which both were pretty good and filling. Service isn’t that great since the worker doesn’t really give a 2 cents about you and what you want. All they care about is taking your order and conversating among themselves, which is fine with me as long as they don’t mess up my order.

I’ve frequented this place enough times in the past 10 years to know what to expect: — No parking in their lot, go in the main lot and walk over — All of their drinks are satisfactory. Not mind-blowing, but whatever it is you are craving they will likely suffice. — Chicken popper things deep fried in copious amounts of oil. — Pissed employees, but you can’t blame them because they put up with the late night crowd so you don’t have to. The more you know, the more likely you are to enjoy it. So enjoy it’s remote, pent-up wonkiness that is the boba tea phenomenon, never to let up until the end of times. And be sure to grab some fried chicken while you’re at it.

Bar scan? Bar exam? Bar unit? No, no, and no it’s called Bar Code. Ordered: — Strawberry Banana $ 4.10 — Fresh Strawberry Lemon Tea $ 3.75 — Watermelon Juice(over ice) $ 3.99 Tina’s Tips and Tantrums — Parking lot is tiny — Small place especially in the entrance way where chairs were stacked up against the bar area. Lining up was crowded. — The aroma of popcorn chicken can be tempting — Strawberry Lemon Tea had the right amount of sweetener and bits of strawberry. It was too good to share, but there was a lemon seed in my cup and if a kid was drinking it, that would’ve been all bad. — A worker kept yelling out an order while a customer was on the phone instead of delivering it to her — Staff was alright and descriptive, pretty quick on delivery though.

You know how when you were little, and your parents would take you to McDonalds, and you’d get so excited because you loved the nifty toys in the Kids Meal and then being able to go in the ball pit in the adjacent playground outside and jump around with other strangers’ kids and slide down the plastic slide until you got tired? And then you stopped going, because you got older, and it wasn’t cool to play at the McDonalds playground anymore, and you never went back, until you had kids of your own and they begged you to let them play in the ball pit? And then you realize… these toys are really cheaply made. And the ball pit is really disgusting… and smells like oily french fries and sweat and pickles. And you almost wish you hadn’t gone back, because now your whole memory of the magic of McDonalds is ruined. That’s how I felt after my most recent visit to Bar Code. During the hot summer days, I’d go every single week, and order the exact same thing… passion fruit icee with aloe, and chicken bites. And every single week, I was never disappointed. The icee was always delicious and refreshing and the bag of chicken bites was filled to the very top with piping hot, crisp chicken. After a whole winter of sipping hot beverages and warming my hands over a bowl of phở, I was ecstatic when the weather began to warm up. It only meant one thing… Bar Code Café time! I was so excited for my crispy chicken and my refreshing beverage, salivating the whole time I was in the car. While waiting in line, I noticed a guy in front of me order a few Mango Mango drinks, and curiously, I asked what it was. He said, it’s mango pudding with mango ice cream and mango fruit bits. Sounds delicious! I want one too! So instead of my usual passionfruit icee with aloe, I opted for a Mango Mango with chicken bites to snack on. After waiting a few minutes, my order was ready. The girl over the counter handed me a paper bag of chicken, half filled. I paused. Is this a joke? I wondered to myself. She seemed completely serious, so I took the half bag of chicken with literally 6 pieces inside, and waited for my Mango Mango. I would insert a picture of the chicken, but there was barely anything in the bag, so the photo would be a giant bag filled with crumbles. Just use your imagination ^_^ Maybe the Mango Mango will be superbly delicious and it will make up for the invisible bag of chicken. Not quite. The mango«pudding» was super gritty, almost as if they’d use a powder mix and didn’t quite dissolved the particles completely. The ice cream was too sweet, with an overpowering artificial mango flavor. I was so disappointed… what happened to my beloved Bar Code Café? With the delicious drinks and generous snack portions? I almost wish I hadn’t gone back. Time to find another summertime snack eatery :(

I was talking about bobas and milk teas with a friend the other day. it seems that I’m out and about and looking for milk teas somewhere. I’m often in this part of San Jose whenever I pick up my niece. I saw this when someone Unilocaled about it so I bookmarked it. I’m always bookmarking something and not going until a few months later… I was thirsty and wasn’t feeling lazy. It was warm today and I got even thirstier! Decision made, took the exit and with a smile on my face I made that left turn into the plaza. Smile disappeared a bit when I realized what plaza it’s in and the fact that it was lunch time. Another decision made! I am not parking in the little spot with a lot of cars going in and out. LOL So I parked on the side near the entrance across from the neighborhood. I felt bad because I had a phone up to my ear when I walked in, in my honest opinion, it’s hard to talk to a friend and take an order or decide an order so I stepped back outside since they have a couple of stands advertising some of their snacks. I saw they had fried button mushrooms, chicken(always try any fried chicken, it’s just the inner piggy in me)…then I realized I left my card in my other wallet. Is it a woman’s problem only that I left my wallet clear across San Jose? I was at Starbucks earlier but I had my phone app that lets me scan my card for purchase. My smile is completely gone now. I was so excited they take card here, and I don’t even have my card! No cash on me :( Walked back sadly to my car and realized I had a bunch of coins sitting in my little coin holder! Yay! Smile is back! Why? Because their milk tea is $ 2.98 with tax. I can afford it with loose change! Double yay! I’m walking like a ditz back towards the café, at first feeling a little daunted with change in my hands and guys in a business suit eating at the table in front of the café, I felt a little peasant-ish. I really wanted to try the button mushrooms too! I already knew I wanted the Green Apple Milk Tea. I wanted to know if it tastes any different than Sweetea? Placed my order and felt once again peasant-ish when the guy looked a littled shocked when I said«that’s it» and his reply was«that’s all you’re getting» :enter sad face here: I smiled like an idiot and said yes. He asked if I had my account with them. Confused I said no and he continued to ring me up, anxious to lose the change in my hands. Then I asked what it was all about, this«account» His shocked face from my only milk tea ordered changed into this really big smile. I’m thinking crap, is he selling me something? Then he said phone number, every 10 drinks gets you a free. It’s a loyalty thing. Word? You had me at loyalty man. I already knew something free was coming my way with that phrase. Double thumbs up and a huge grin. Their ‘loyalty’ program is used with their POS system and your phone number, first name and a last initial. I will never lose a free drink card in my wallets ever again! The receipt prints up what count you are on before you get that free drink. Thank you guy with big grin, you made my somewhat lousy trip into a «I want to go again!» trip. I’ll be seeing you guys weekly on my days I pick up my niece. I am excited to drive across town now to pick up a munchkin and a rewarding treat from Bar Code! – Green Apple Milk Tea, I don’t know how different these places make them. But I really like this drink here. When I sip it, I feel like I have a sense of biting, chewing and swallowing an apple. When I finish swallowing that apple I also taste milk and tea after wards. The tea? Reminds me of the tea my aunt made me drink growing up. Felt refreshing and herbal at the same time. – looking forward to trying their snacks in a few days so I can say more about their goodies :)

I definitely found the code to perfection. This review is solely for the Mango Mango. After a long intense hike up Mission Peaks, my cousins swooped me to Bar Code. I have to thank them for introducing a heavenly mesh of mango ice cream, mango pudding, mango icy, and mango bits to me. Dripping with sweat and blood from climbing such a rocky mountain, the Mango Mango cooled me off like an Air Conditioner. It definitely hit the spot. Looking forward to going back and trying more stuff from them!

~~BobaPrincess Bobatastic Review #13~~ Been going here since two years ago, although a bit pricey but YUM! ;) Drinks: B I really like the drinks here, better than the formulaic TapEx or Quickly’s but not«real tea» like TenRen. I have tried the reg Milk Tea, Thai Tea, and Milk Green Tea. I would not go here for the drinks exclusively though since there are cheaper and better options out there. Note there is only the Regular size and a Mini size– no Large cups! Food: B+ Better food and bigger portions than your typical boba shop! Definitely love eating the foods and snacks here than at any TapEx or Quickly’s. Based on the Chicken Bites(Popcorn Chicken), Calamari, and Sweet Potatoe Fries. One of the yummiest Sweet Potatoe Fries from a boba shop WITHOUT extra charge! Hallelujah finally! I love their seasoned fried food and appreciate that it isn’t just fried and bland. In addition, they have Ketchup, Curry Ketchip, and Honey Mustard sauces. AWESOME! Definitely have to try the food here, they have a lot of variety including Crepes and other snacks! Service: B– This was between a B and B-. The workers there are not the friendliest but they are pretty fast and efficient. The store is usually busy so they don’t have time to chit chat with the customers intimately… Location/Ambiance: A– One of the trendiest boba shops I’ve been too! You walk in and the cashier/drink station is immediately to your right. The store is shaped in a rectangular fashion, so you proceed straight and there are a few high tables and low tables with benches. There is a TV always playing the coolest music videos at the time. The place is clean and interior looks great! I only wish it was bigger and had more tables/chairs like the other Barcode around. Prices: B– This is almost as expensive as the closed Q-Cup in Oakridge Mall… Horrible!!! The Tea Combos are about $ 9.25 and with added tax, my whole meal came out to over $ 10…really? Ridiculous, that’s as much as an Appetizer/Dessert and Entrée at TGIF’s! The Milk Teas are about $ 2.75 and the Thai Tea was $ 3.25. Too expensive considering how there are a plethora of tea shops around. They take CARDSTOO! YES! TL;DR? Decent Milk Tea, AWESOMEYUMMYFOOD! Big portions and Flavorful, MUSTTRY the Ketchup Curry Sauce! Trendy but small place! ACCEPTSCASHANDCARDS!!!
