My 2nd time here: Miso hot pot soup– did not taste like miso at all. It tasted like the hokkaido milk soup base but a lighter version and no milk visible. Its still tasty and healthy, I liked it. I also liked the udon noodles in it. The only characteristic of miso was 2 or 3 tiny seaweed pieces and a lot of big tofus, which in my mind is a chinese miso. haha nice try. Spicy Bison– It tastes exactly like SATAY sauce. When I went to make my sauces, I added chili into the soup and it made it more enjoyable. The satay soup was not bad but there was no spice. From most reviews I’ve read on Unilocal, people order this one. I like it.

I came here on a Tuesday night around 6:00pm and there was no wait! I was able to park on the side street, but there is also a parking lot in the back. When walking inside, I noticed that this place is fairly small with only a few tables and booths. I also noticed a small self serve station for sauces that serve satay sauce, hot chili oil, soy sauce and more. The décor was a basketball theme which I thought was really interesting. As for food, I ordered the Malaysian curry hot pot which was pretty good but the pot was kind of small.(Not as big as boiling point hotpot) My friend got the«hell like» hot & spicy hot soup and she was able to demolish the whole thing, which means it was not too spicy for her. I on the other hand thought 1 spoon full of her broth was too spicy. The service was good and the waitress was very attentive when needed. As for the price it came out to be around 23 for 2 hotpots.

Confession time– I almost didn’t want to write a review for this place because I want it to stay on the low-key so that the wait doesn’t get horrendously long. Selfish? Yes. But, hey Look I’m sharing my wonderful experience. Inspired by the Fung bros food YouTube video, I dragged my cousin and her two children to check this place out. We struggled finding the shop actually because the GPS brought us to the back parking lot. We went inside this building of connecting stores, hoping one on one hot pot be one of them. But nope. Couldn’t find it. So we went outside again and walked to the front onto the busy street. Kept walking and low and behold found it on the corner! First tip: parking is in the rear. Upon entering, i realized the shop was really small– probably fit about 10 tables. I’m indifferent about the theme. Yes, it really is basketball themed. Thmere’s a huge basketball hoop hanging from the wall above one of the tables. I’d be scared to eat under there cause what if it falls on me, you know? Also, what’s with the collection of basketballs above the cashier counter? The hot pots are amazing!!! Wow I was so blown away by the big portion size and very affordable prices. Very impressive on the hook ups with rice/vermicelli and choice of green or black tea. For dinner. Yes for dinner!!! I ordered the«hells like» hot & spicy hot soup. My cousin got the bison devil King and the miso with udon hot soup for her son. I loved my soup because I love eating spicy. Although, my ass suffers from the aftermath but it’s really worth it during the time of consumption. My pot had sliced beef, shrimp, fish balls, tofu, beef balls, pork intestines, quail egg, bean sprouts, vermicelli, and Napa cabbage. I don’t remember what the other two had but they were very filling too. They are really generous with the meat too. A lot more than a popular chain that I will not name. One frustrating part was how long it took for my food to arrive. My cousin’s pot came in a timely manner. But the other two we ordered still didn’t arrive. Another party who ordered after us had already received all their food. So at this point, my patience was thinning. They probably forgot about our other orders because one of the ladies came over to look what what my cousin’s pot was. I’m guessing she came to check which other pots still had to be cooked. So In the end, took about 30 mins for my food to arrive. I was almost done with this restaurant until of course I fell in love with my soup and so much food that came with such an affordable price of $ 10.95! That is such a good deal. I don’t know how they make profit. Hopefully, the price and quality stays that way! Pretty good individual hot pot with portion sizes big enough to share and prices that won’t break the bank. Definitely an A in my book!

Be prepared for understaff and having your order always wrong! The owner is a guy who does not understand English, so unless you are speaking in Chinese, you will regret your choice here. There are better places to spend my hard earned money. Never ever again!!!

This is my new favorite hot pot restaurant. They have many different hot pot flavors and every one of them is delicious. Very good options of sauce that you can choose. Very affordable prices and bigger portions than Boiling Point. Little to no line so you don’t have to spend an hour waiting. Nice atmosphere inside — it’s basketball themed. Friendly staff and good customer service.

My first time trying hot pot where they just put everything in one pot for you. It’s individual size and good for 1 person or if you order 2 different ones, you can share. Their menu is very simple with details and pictures. I ordered the one that had pigs blood and intestines with other kinds of meats, tofu and cabbage. It comes with a side of of your choice; I had the clear vermicelli noodles.

— Came here cause other hot pot place had an hour wait. — I opted for the Hokkaido pumpkin milk hot pot with rice. It was a little sweet but not too bad, almost like a tapioca dessert taste. — I’m a sauce guy and there’s a side table with everything which was good(soy, yaki, chili sauce, etc) — Tea that comes free is awesome. — The portion seems small but I was pretty full. — One thing though, it seemed like the glass door was too heavy for the glass wall. Everytime someone left it sounded like something was gonna give. I’m over exaggerating but I noticed it. Haha

Came here for lunch on a weekday. We’re the first one there. Got the Hokaiddo and Miso broth. Both were pretty tasty. The portions are pretty decent, more than boiling point. Service was okay. Got sa cha(bbq) and sesame dipping sauce. Wish they had some garlic and green onions. The price is lower than most other hot pot restaurants.

This is a underrated hot pot place in 626. If you like boiling point but hate the hate then you should take a look this place. Parking is easy, pretty of them in the street. The restaurant isn’t big but is idea for group of 4 or 2. There’s usually little or no wait here. The décor of this restaurant is interesting. Full of basketball and jersey in the wall. The restaurant is a big fan of Jeremy Lin. Your choice is hot pot and rice pot. I never see a rice pot in a hot pot place before. There’s a lot differnt type of hotpot/rice pot. The most unique is the miso one which I never see in a chinese hot pot place before. That one has the best broth in my opinion. The meat are overcooked which isn’t fan of it. The pot took a long time to come out. Overall this is a great value and very similar to BP but without the wait and actually more selection as well. They give you a lot of rice here.

This place is like Boiling Point but better. I saw a YouTube episode about this place from the Fung Bro’s and I love Shabu, so I gave this place a try. Only thing I don’t like about this place is, why does the price go higher from lunch to dinner? It’s not like portion size got bigger. Whateves.

Another chilly day in San Gabriel = hot pot opportunity, yay!!! However, at this place — RUDESERVICE = SCREWYOU!!! If I could give this place no star, it freaking deserves it! Mom and I came here for an early dinner on Saturday about 5pm — place was empty with except for one patron eating, another patron waiting for his two friends to arrive, and the waiter who was also eating as well. Mom and I looked over the menu and the waiter came over 5 mins later after he finished his meal. Each pot was $ 11 for the dinner time, and each meal comes free with an Iced green tea or iced black tea. My Mom didn’t want iced since she was freezing, and so the waiter kept telling her that the iced tea is free, and my Mom wanted hot. Apparently, the waiter got upset with a frustrated«Omg!!!» response to my Mom like«Are you fu**king retarded?! Please order the hell up cuz the other patrons are waiting!!! Really??? The two teenagers who just arrived and are giggling with the guy waiting for them??? Wow!!! That pissed me off and we left. He didn’t need to be a jerk. He could have just given us a few more minutes or been more patient. My Mom is 70 years old, and I didn’t like how he disrespected her, especially since Mandarin isn’t our first language. Also, it’s our first time here and he could have been nicer. After the rude service — screw this place! I took Mom to go eat phở and she was so happy that not only it warmed her up fast, but her tummy was happily filled. Best under $ 20.00, I’ve spent :)

Great place for lunch without the boiling point waiting game. Portions of food were generous . Many sauces to choose from chili oil, satay sauce, peanut sauce etc Free black or green tea during lunch ! * be prepared for language barrier and work on your hand gestures as the owners and workers may have a tough time getting your order or needs in.

This place is good. Ordered the Malay curry and my friend had the Hokkaido milk one. We both agreed that this place is much better than the other hotpot place that we went to and we’ll definitely be back. A must food place especially in this kind of weather.

It is a nice and clean. The food is good. My friend and I have 2 different kind of hot pot. Both are good, and it has a lot meats inside. Why I give 4 stars because I don’t like basketballs them in restaurant. I think they will change them

Every time I go to LA I always go to one on one rather than boiling point, the portions are much more and the soup base is definitely less oily. I always order #6 one of my favs! Another one I’ve tried is the beef stone pot which is really good too. It comes in a really huge portion that can fill for two people or even three depending how hungry you are. I never have to wait in line when coming to eat here which is always a plus. My friends and I usually get the green tea rather than the black tea cause it’s super refreshing on a hot day. The owner is super nice too! He kept refilling our cups once he saw that it was getting low even though they were supposed to charge for every cup, but he doesn’t every time I go. The entire theme of this place is based on basketball so it’s pretty interesting to look at all the pictures and décor inside. Parking usually isn’t a problem here. They also offer stamp cards too so it’s another incentive to go back. This is one of my to go places for hot pot when I’m in LA! Try it out if you’re in the area!

This place has an interesting nba theme, which is kinda cool. My friend kept talking about their light because it was shape like a basketball in a hoop. The service was not the best but he was really nice. I order #2 and didn’t finish it. A lots more cabbage than anything else. The soups base was not bad. It was too much food for. I should’ve ordered one and shared. Overall, it wasn’t a horrible experience. I’ve been to worse. You can’t really blame the waiter because he’s the only one serving. At least he apologized for making me wait to get the check and was really nice to us before we left. I might come back if boiling point is too packed and craving for hotspot.

I haven’t been here in a while and realized they changed ownership sometime in the last year. From what I can tell, with the new ownership, the portions seem more generous, but the dipping sauces were lacking some flavor. The servers were very interested in explaining why the stamp card from the last owners aren’t excepted anymore(which I totally understand) but he kept trying to tell us 3 different times. The owner must be new to the customer service world so I’ll give him some slack. I love coming here because there are rarely lines, you can watch sun set on a summer night from the window seats and well. I LOVEHOTPOTLIKEFOODS!!! You got my business — keep up the good work!

Like Boiling Point but without the wait!(on a summer weekday around 6:30pm) Very interesting with the whole NBA theme. There were only about 3 other parties when we arrived and out service was good. They spoke English fine and checked on us. Near the entrance is the sauce station where you can make your own sauce: satay, sesame, chili, soy sauce etc. I ordered The Admiral and thought it was delicious. It comes with sliced beef, crab, shrimp, oysters, raw egg, cuttle fish ring, kamaboko, tofu, fish balls, found white fish, ramen noodles and cabbage. I don’t like oyster so opted out on that. I thought it was very flavorful a little too salty, if it were just a little less salty it would be perfect. On the menu there’s a little chili pepper indicating it’s spicy but I didn’t think it was spicy at all, maybe at a mild? My bf got the Like Hell Spicy? He said it wasn’t that spicy(he likes really spicy food) however he liked it but said mine was better. The meals also come with free green or black tea and they have a stamp card of buy 10 get one free.

This place is my favorite boiling point alternative. Cheaper and much larger quantity! If you can take spicy, go for thai curry– is my favvvv. Otherwise the hokkeido pumpkin and sour mustard are not bad. the bison devil is just straight up spicyyy. I also love that you can do substitutions here. More fishballs instead of corn? Hell yes!!! The rice pots were underwhelming for me, I also hate that the pots come prepacked and veggies get soggy plus meats get overcooked if you dont rush to eat everything.

I came here for lunch with a couple of friends around noon on Tuesday. The restaurant is pretty small with 3 booths and about 8 tables. When we walked in, we were seated right away. I ordered the Miso w/Udon Hot soup, but asked for no King Oyster Mushrooms. The waitress offered to replace the mushrooms with either beef balls or fish balls for no extra cost! My meal came with the hot soup, sweetened green or black tea, and a fried chicken wing all for $ 9.95. Pros: –great lunch value– $ 9.95 gets you the soup, tea, chicken wing, and bowl of rice or noodles –sauce bar –free substitution –street parking is easy to find –attentive wait staff, but not intrusive –very filling proportion Cons: –wait staff doesn’t understand English too well –basketball theme is a little strange Overall, I think One on One is a good place to check out if you’re tired of waiting in the long line at Boiling Pot. I probably will be coming back just to try their other soups.
