Had the«fried taco» which was really a hard shell taco the shell itself tasted old and bitter. The beef, had no flavor and was just plan nasty. The place itself looks dirty B is well deserved

Decent menudo. Service could wake up a bit… Too many chiefs not enough Indians. The tortillas are good, beans could be better and the salsa is watered down… Best thing here are the tortillas. If you are from the area u buy tortillas here and pick up the other stuff elsewhere… Chicharrones are always hard… Overcooked or old

Never got around to posting this review from February 2015… Food isn’t good. Place is dirty & ceiling is falling apart. Has a «B» from the health inspector.

Very disappointed in this restaurant. First, it has a «B» rating, immediately understandable when you enter the restaurant and notice all the flies inside! We went with another couple who highly recommended the restaurant, otherwise I would have turned on the spot and left before ordering. But we sat down and I ordered a carnitas burrito. My husband ordered chile verde. Both were horrible! The carnitas were old, chewy and very greasy. The chile verde was dry and difficult to chew. The rice was good but the beans were bland. We don’t intend to return!

The food here is great, I love it. My family and I go on Sunday’s for the Birria and the menudo. We go early around 7, because around 9 it gets crowded and sometimes people are just rude there. The only reason I’ve given this place 3 stars, is because I’ve been here many times and have had a numerous amount of problems with the staff, mainly because we carry-out and our pots get mixed up with one another’s. If you’re not careful your moms $ 200 dollar pot could be mixed up with a cheap $ 20 one. And staff is usually to blame. The owner won’t do much either, so don’t even try to involve him, he’s been trained by one of the lead cashiers.

Well I wrote a review about this place a while ago and it was not a good one! But today I went from breakfast after church with my family… if you been here before you know the way it looks… well actually it’s safe to say…“looked!!!” I believe the place is under new ownership because they’ve cleared so many eye source that had no business being in the restaurant floor!!! Now the place looks bigger… and CLEAN!!! it’s clean and the bathroom has had a few renovations… Now it’s a bathroom… there is soap to wash your hands with before it was a hit and miss when it came to the bathroom soap. The walls of the restaurant are clean… not only that but the food taste better… I usually get menudo. The menudo is always good but the birria is delicious with hand made tortillas!!! I really recommend this place… it’s real comfort food…

Their burrito supremes are BOMB! Their chilaquiles en salsa roja is pretty good too. Lots of people come here for their menudo. If it wasn’t for the long wait times they would get the full 5 stars. I always phone my order in.

Really amazing food, the tortillas are great. They can be stored and reheated and taste just as great. But the service is terrible, the owner sits around and doesn’t help the one waitress that is there. The cleanliness needs work; especially the restroom.

Wow– don’t let the outer appearance fool you. If you are looking for a place to get good Mexican food than this is it. Tortillas are great — lengua is done right. Sylmar/San Fernando has plenty of mediocre Mexican places and this one is better than most of them. Beans and rice were above average… And you can mess up beans and rice(reply to previous Unilocaler). Will definitely be back.

Love this spot, one of the only places I know where you can come in with your own pot & get it filled with posole, menudo or birria. Been coming for years now & try to stop by whenever I’m in the area

What a disappointment! I went there based on good reviews. The Menudo is nothing to rave about. The service was just as bad. Don’t waste in the lines for mediocre food and unpleasant environment.

Today I stopped in this place. When I walked in I was very excited because it was packed with people. So I thought, this place has to be good. I had the combination plate which contained two tacos with rice and beans. And the tacos were nasty. The shell was burnt and I couldn’t eat them. The beans and rice were alright but how hard is it to mess up beans and rice? The corn tortillas were very good. I ended up eating them with butter, instead of the combo plate I ordered. The place awful, just awful!

As much as I try with this place, the employees are still very slow. I can walk in just for beans only(to go) and I take longer than I should because it seems like girls don’t want to even try to be good at customer service.

I’ve lived near this place for decades, but I’ve never thought to go here. The«B» it received from the health inspector didn’t make me too keen to try it either. But I tried it today out of desperate hunger. It’s famous for it’s menudo, but the other food, such as the burritos, tacos, and tortas are also amazing. Using our experiences in other tortillerias, we bought more food than necessary. We hadn’t realized how big the portions were, or how delicious it would be. When we got the food, to our delight, everything was huge– and affordable priced. But my torta de carne azada and taco de carnitas with a large soda proved to be too much. Far too much. As much as I tried hard and believed in myself, I could not finish my taco. The torta is a good bolillo, and doesn’t distract from the meat. And the cheese– they used good queso fresco, so it was lightly grilled and hot but still firm. All the flavors danced in harmony, and although the meat was a bit salty, it didn’t detract from any other flavor. The taco, although it’s still uneaten, comes in a hand made tortilla and it has plenty of meat. They come wrapped in foil and yellow wax paper, and they open like a wonderful gift. I am beyond happy, and full. Very full. I will go here again next week. The menudo on Sundays, besides being famous, runs out before 1 pm! So if you want some make sure to go early :3

I used to really enjoy this place about two years ago. It was super laid back, fair priced and had some pretty tasty food. I guess it was more about convenience since there are literally dozens of Mexican food places in the area and this one just happens to be a few feet closer to the left than the other two across the street. Their burritos were always good, and I liked a few of their items just fine, particularly the chille relleno. But after a while, slow service and being straight out ignored got to me. If I went there with my boyfriend, I’d let him do the talking. Oh! By the way, thank God they got new workers because one girl there speaks absolutely NO english, and cannot understand you even though you’re ordering food that is the same word in both languages! Anyway, if I went myself, they wouldn’t come help me. This happened three times in a row before I stopped going for about a year. I’m mexican but don’t speak spanish so I don’t know if that had anything to do with it. Recently we started going back, but the food isn’t impressive, it’s just ok. The chilaquiles were kind of gross and I wish I went to El Nayarit. Their menudo that they sell on the weekends won a few awards and the place was jam packed when I went to get some hangover soup for the man in my life, but oh my word. That stuff is disgusting! I thought it was just me, but I talked to someone who is very culturally mexican and has a mom who cooks and sews and he agrees that it’s nasty and has no idea how they won these awards. Another thing is it looks like you’re eating in a shack. They have all the items stocked up in the dining area and there is no sense of décor. It’s like they don’t even care. All these things are negative, as I’ve said, but there are worse places that are much more uncomfortable, which is why I say it’s okay. If you wanna kick back without dressing up at all it’s nice to go here, and the food is super cheap. I just wouldn’t exactly call it a date night place.

So I have been coming here since I was little and I have always loved the food, however there customer services lately has been complete shit. My office and I order from here at least once every few weeks and every time their service has sucked. They are rude when I call to order to go and when I go to pick up or order there they ignore you. The place can be completely empty and the ladies will just keep walking past you instead of asking if you have been helped or not but I usually let this go since the food is delicious. Today however is a different, we ordered to go like usual and my co worker ordered a burrito. When he took a bite he pulled out a long, thick, black hair. We called them to let them know about the hair in the burrito and you can hear the manager in the background laughing about it, how rude! My coworker took the top half of the burrito off and tried to eat the bottom half only to find another hair in it, he found 4 hairs total in the burrito. A simple apology and a new burrito would have been all he needed but the manager decided to laugh about it. That was enough for me, they lost a whole office full of regular customers, I’m sure they could care less though.

Good Menudo and Homemade tortillas, Pues que mas quieres? Yeah there was a wait but I was in no hurry so no problem. Parking, good luck, back in if possible. the party I sat with ordered huevos rancheros, they looked good too, others ordered carnitas and a chile verde burrito, everything looked and smelled good. Great food, good service and bad parking. All in all good experience. I’ll be back.

How delicious! A cheap tasty Mexican joint open in the early am, perfect. Went here with some friends and ordered the Chilaquiles in red sauce. Ok first off the red sauce had the perfect amount of heat. Not too spicy but just enough to give the chilaquiles a slight kick. Next, this place used slightly thick and chewy homemade tortillas. I had my first homemade tortilla a few months ago and omg what a difference it makes. Also this place serves up a good amount of beans and rice to complete the dish. I couldn’t even finish it all. I would so order this meal again. I also tried some of their Pork Carnitas. We ate them wrapped in a homemade tortilla with a bit of their green sauce. I’m not sure if this is a regular menu item or the friend I went with just ordered it like this. But I would recommend getting this as well. I definitely want to go back and try more.

Ever wanted to know how grandmas food tasted? Come here. Solid menudo. Prices are cheap for the amount of food and the quality. Spanish speaking and cash only. I come here all the time. Menudo, Burrito Supreme Asada Rojo or Verde. And tacos de chicharron. Are my favorites for many reasons. Absolutely some of the best kitchen mexican food ever.

So this place doesn’t look like much from the outside or the inside but damn they make a great very large taco with homemade tortillas that taste very different then many handmade tortillas. There tacos come with guacamole, which is always a bonus, tacos are over $ 2 but well worth it. I would not suggest you stop here to eat inside, because its a restaurant slash market, but definitely a good place to buy a taco that is much different then most tacos.
