Kwik Market & Deli

Nice people, good service and tasty sandwiches. I gave only two stars because for a 9.00 sandwich the thing is empty and all bread. A few slices of meat and cheese and a piece of lettuce on a HUGE roll.

I’ve been here so many times for lunch, I couldn’t even count them. They make great sub sandwiches, and they even do breakfast sandwiches as well with fried cappacolla and egg on a freshly baked bread roll. The owners are there almost all the time and are the nicest people.

If today were the first and only time I bought a sandwich here, I would give this place a 1-​star or a 2-​star. But, I’ve been here before and know that it can be better, even delicious.
Today I got five sandwiches for my family, two Angelos, one Chipotle Chicken, an Italian cold cuts sandwich, and a turkey sandwich. Each sandwich had insufficient meat — the sandwiches were 99% bread. Even though I prefer independent delis and restaurants, I’m kicking myself for not going to Subway, which gives double or maybe triple the amount of meat that we got today. Also, my mom’s whole wheat roll was burnt and she couldn’t eat it. To top it off, we spent $ 50-​$ 60 for the sandwiches and chips. I don’t mind spending that much, as long as I’m eating quality food.
Despite all of the above, I have eaten here BEFORE and they’ve done a better job and they were less stingy with their meat. Unless they add more meat to their sandwiches I’m going elsewhere. It’s a shame because I think Sylmar deserves some good, non-​chain places to eat.

Really good bread for their subs, but mostly salad on a roll. Double meat with avacado was $ 10.64… don’t really feel like it’s a «great sandwich» for that price. Service is good and friendly people, but 11 bucks for an 8 or 9 inch sub salad??? Hate to say it, but you’re better of at a decent chain like Jersey Mikes.

Bought 5 sandwiches today, good bread but barely any meat (turkey). The lettuce was also slices of romaine with the heavy rib of crunchy white piece. What happened to iceberg, green leaf of a chopped option. Not too good this time.

On the way through town we saw the sign advertising submarine sandwiches. Figured we would pick up some drinks and a sandwich to go for lunch. Walked in and it was pretty quiet. The gal behind the counter said they had just opened. We ordered sandwiches and she smiled and said the sandwich counter wasn’t officially open since the cook hadn’t shown up yet. She immediately said that she would help us and not to worry. As we picked up drinks and chips the crowd started to come in. We paid left & thanked her for helping us. She gave us a sandwich card for next time & stamped it twice for the 2 sandwiches we bought. As we sat outside to eat I have to say that the Unilocal reviews are spot on. The sandwich was really tasty! Good customer service, great sandwiches and an array of drinks. What more can you need from a local kwik mart deli business!

The owners are very nice! Love them! I am usually here for the salads which are very good! However it looks like they actually downsized on their salads, but did not downsize on the price :(Salad will run you $ 7+

I love love love the owners of this shop. Always friendly and extremely personable. Sandwiches are great — but extremely expensive. My simple Turkey with Lettuce & Cheese is over $ 6, which makes me cringe. BUT, whats good is good. Recommending for quality ingredients and a great staff!

I am amazed with the taste of these subs! I tried the roast beef sub by far my fav. My compliments to this establishment! Rising above all in Sylmar, it’s a joy that people still take pride in food. Especially one of many places in the city! By far my respects to this sub place! Def forever won my business!

The ham and cheese sub is one of my favorites and has been since early childhood. All of their subs are really good so try them all. The employees are always helpful and provide great service. The place is very clean and has a beer cave if you want to pick up some ice cold beer with your subs. The potato wedges and jalapeño poppers are also a favorite of mine. I will always come back to this spot every time I’m back in sylmar.

I grew up eating these subs and their potato wedges. They’ve always been my favorite. I think they’re better than Subway. The tuna avocado subs are my favorite. They have a lot of different choices and all their ingredients are fresh.

I may have been programmed since early youth to like the sandwiches from kwik mart. I have always liked them and still do. Especially the ham and cheese sandwich. Many people don’t even realize the history of the place. Apparently the family that owns it are descendants of the Italian immigrants who were farmers growing olive trees in Sylmar. They also made olive oil and still sell the brand in the store. Great stop off the 5 freeway and Roxford if you are hungry.

I always come here for subs. There was a time when I was totally addicted to the subs from here. I still come here pretty often. Very nice people. If you are pressed for time, would recommend that you order on phone since lunch time can get busy (though I like lazing around while my sandwich is being prepared :-))
My favorites in order are:
1) Mediterranean grilled chicken sandwich (recommended to me by my colleague. Very easy for people to miss this option because it’s not on their featured subs list)
2) chipotle chicken sandwich (This was my #1 till I overfed myself and could no longer eat it. I still eat this once in a while though)
3) turkey bacon and avocado
4) I get their Italian meatball and Italian sausage sandwich when it’s the sandwich of the week for 3.99.
Get their sandwich card. You get 4.49 off every 10 sandwiches (you can get this card stamped for even the sandwich of the week)

I guess it’s hard for a deli to distinguish itself from others. Sandwiches always taste better when someone else makes them. The pastrami was good like it is everywhere. The only thing that bugs me is the 9 dollars I spent on a seemingly standard deli sandwich. Might be a little too much.

I really like the turkey subs from here. I always pair it with jalapeño poppers and potato wedges. So good.
Also you can use the 50 cent coupon it comes on the wrapping of the sub.
The guys there are really nice and helpful.
