It’s $ 5.00 for a little banh trang tron. They’re stick together like a cake and«big» like a half hand. The taste is very very bad. Don’t waste your money.

Downgrading my review after visiting today. They no longer sell Banh Mi sandwiches. My last visit was a fail, but I really thought«eh» it’s the end of day so maybe they were off their game. Today I tried again, got the catfish and it was all fat and grease, no flavor at all. Also got the soup which was a gelatinous mess, wasn’t even edible. The rest of the food buffet looked old and unappetizing — like it had been sitting out for two days. Seems the quality has gone way down. I won’t be back.

I thought it would be fun to eat here for my birthday with my family. Everyone was surprised that I picked a ghetto place where you sit outside of the restaurant(in the parking lot) on plastic tables and chairs. It’s supposed to feel like you’re in Vietnam lol. I’ve never been here during the day and this was my first time trying out the night menu. This eatery is small, but has more food options during the day. They open at 8pm-12am from Thursdays to Sundays for their nighttime menu. This menu is very limited and written on a chalkboard by the door. They have sugar cane drinks, but you need to pay that upfront since they have different owners. Our family ordered 7 bowls of bun bo xao and my dad ordered another soup bo vien since he was still hungry. I don’t like chao long that much, but that’s what they’re known for. Every item is $ 5, so it’s cheap, but you might not get full with just one bowl. Service was a bit confusing, but very friendly. They even moved the huge sign so that we could take a picture with it. I ran into quite a few friends here and it seems like it’s a popular place among Vietnamese people.

First I wanna say I’ve been a loyal customer to this place in the last 5 years, but heres a few pros and cons. I had never had problem with their food, there are variety of food you can pick out of this tiny joint, sometimes u could order food by phone and just come to pick them up, save you a lot of time because their parking lot is a pain especially during lunch hours. I know the owner personally, her family are very nice. Lately they extended their business to night time up to mid night from Thursday to Sunday with a new name call Cháo Ch but using the same business location. Attracting a lot of people especially the local Vietnamese neighborhood. Running by the owner son, the set up is quite different than day time because they aim to younger crowd so they sell street food and snacks to give you that feeling when you were back home in Vietnam and other south east asia countries. Maybe because it was new so a lot of people come or maybe because of the owner son connections, but every time i come its always busy and a lot of items were sold out so I didnt get to try all of them. Overall the food quality about the same as day time Vinh Long. Their gimmick is to hire a lot of young little asian girls as their helpers or waitresses walking around like they care expecting get more customers mostly guys for examples single guys, rapists, pedophiles, ect the list goes on :)) jk. Their attitudes toward you would really depends on how busy they are. The upside is they know they will be the pioneer to open this late night service in SD to compete with Orange County Vietnamese community since some people prefer not to travel that far. The food at night might not need to be improved for awhile but until other places figure out this stradegy they might have to look into that or they wont last very long. Not just quality but quantity to meet customer demands since they acted like they didnt need you, they only cooked an amount of food they wanted, even if they said they woud open as late as mid night but as the reason of their food run out early they wont make more for you but prefer to close early go rest or have fun or whatever. I’m not trying to tell them how to run a business but the late night service was less friendly than the day time one. Very typical Asian restaurant, good food horrible service. I gave this place 4 stars because out of respect I have for the owner, because I love their day time food and atmosphere, and because my girl friend love it.

Intro: This review for their night food menu(it has just opened for about a month) by the owner’s son and daughter in law. 3.5 stars but round up to 4 stars. During their busiest moments, they won’t be very nice mmmmm. I understand it is stressful but please improve it. Thank you! Review: Second time trying their new night street food menu here I’m not a fan but my parents kinda like supporting our old neighbor’s new business. What makes it different from other Vietnamese food to go places? It is served LITERALLY on the street, so it is a real street food. Jk it is served in their parking lot from 8pm to midnight.(But they already have porridge ready at 7pm). If you have ever traveled to Asia, you will be familiar with these tiny table and chairs from the street food vendors. The night menu is completely different from the day menu. Their popular items: porridge(cháo lòng) with intestines, red bean porridge, sugar cane juice, grilled fresh squid, etc. The portion is US X-small size but Vietnamese regular size. If you’re a big foodie like me, you may need to order 2 bowls. Price: everything is $ 5, except for sugarcane juice $ 4/large cup. Suggestion: please add balluts and some finger foods to your night menu. Background: To be clear, it is neither a new restaurant nor new management. We are regular customers at Vinh Long food to go for 10 years and my dad has been to this place for 15 years or so. Lately, the owner’s son and daughter in law have extended their regular hours to midnight to serve only street food nightly. Their day menu are typically Vietnamese version Panda Express but a lot better. Their night menu includes the popular items(see above) plus some new items every night. If you want to experience the Vietnamese street food and take some selfie pretending you were eating on a street in China/Vietnam, you should come here. If you want to try the food but don’t want to look so ghetto, they have tables indoor and takeout option. If you, a Donald Trump kind of guy, don’t like hole in the wall places and cannot stand watching fobbies eating in the parking lot and trashing it, stay away from here! In my opinion, the food is just okay. My parents have the same thoughts but they still keep coming back on the days we are lazy to cook. Plus points: For young men and boys, their waitresses are very young and cute.

Best place to get Vietnamese food to go! Customer service is the best. They are very patient with you. Not to mention they’re not stingy with the amounts of food they give you they always give big portions. I always come here to buy lunch for our staff and $ 20 worth of their food fills up 6 people! The food tastes amazing and the price is so affordable. Parking is sort of tight but other than that everything is great about this place!

This place is great. An amazing find. Best banh mi sandwiches, BBQ pork and prices in SD. They have lots of great food ready for take out or dine in. Very busy small place. Looks like they send out a lot of volume. Too bad they were out of egg rolls. Tip: Park on the side street and walk. Parking and alleys are brutal.

Ever since jan. I’ve been hunting for GOOD viet sandwiches, in other words, banh mi. After going to K sandwiches 3 times a week, I thought it was time to try something new. Thus I searched online and found this place. Okay, I got the bbq pork banh mi due to a recommendation online, and needless to say, it was pretty decent. It was less than 3 dollars! score:) They also have a table where they have many dishes for you to get to go, since it is called food to go, but i wanted a sandwich so i didn’t try to the food. HOWEVER, this place ISTINY, not meant to dine in, hence the food to go. ALSO, parking is ridiculous! there were only like 6 or 7 spots, however, if you’re in the area and with a friend, just tell your friend to buy you whatever you want while you wait in the car, or vice versa, that way you don’t have to wait for parking! :)
