I came here for the first time and was super disappointed. Didn’t realize so much has changed from the old restaurant. I came here for canh bun(no have anymore) then I wanted bun reiu(no have anymore). Settled for hoanh thanh nhan tom thit. It was okay but I wasn’t craving it. Sad. I don’t think I’ll ever come here again. I should have realized this place wasn’t all that great anymore when I walked in to find no other customers at lunch time on a Saturday. :/

This place is under new management. It is now called«Asia Noodle House». There is a large variety of food items besides noodles. We ordered the spring rolls, mi vit(duck noodle soup), and bo luc lac(shaken beef with rice). We loved it! I’m giving them 4 stars because their credit card machine was down but there was no sign indicating this. We had to scrape up all the cash we had to pay so we couldn’t tip well. Overall, we would eat here again.

Feeling bun rieu(crab base tomato soup)? This place has decent bun rieu… Of course not as good as my moms but pretty close. Difference: the broth is slightly not as flavorful, you have to put a little more shrimp paste in it. Also my mom makes the crab cakes with eggs and it’s in big chunks and all over the broth, so every spoon you’ll have some eggs and crab. Nhat Vy makes it more like a ham like where it’s all compressed. I noticed that a lot with store bun rieu. Where can I find one with the eggs and crab cakes not a compressed piece of ham? Toppings were right on with the stringy celery like thing. The blood cake and snails were good. We were a little reluctant to try this place because we saw nobody inside and was intimidated. But we swallow our fears and tried it and didn’t get a stomach ache or anything! We peaked into the kitchen area and it was really clean with stainless steel appliances. It was a good attempt to find the best bun rieu.

My overall experience rating is three star or dare I say below… The food I would rate a 2. I really disliked their fried egg rolls, which I haven’t experienced for some time at Vietnamese places. The Phở was average, or mildly below average, basically pretty plain but not horrible. Their spring rolls where average. The Vietnamese iced coffee was above average, I liked it a lot! The décor could really use an upgrade. But on the bright side the service was very friendly and decent. The service is frankly what stopped me from giving them less stars. I must be honest, I wouldn’t recommend this place. Saigon is a stones throw away and much better in my opinion. I came here with higher hope’s and I wish I could report it differently, as I said they seem like really nice people… Best of luck, and happy eating!!!

My first time eating bun rieu and it wasn’t bad, just a little bland compared to the other Vietnamese soups I’ve eaten. I would say bun bo hue is my favorite then phở then bun rieu. However, this doesn’t mean I won’t eat it again, I am still going to try bun rieu at a few other spots before I make my final decision. This is a true hole in the wall Vietnamese restaurant. There is nothing glamorous about it, but my soup was good quality and I didn’t fear for my health. So that was good. I just think bun rieu isn’t really my cup of tea. The egg rolls weren’t that great either because they were cold. Oh well. Will I come back? Probably not. Good effort though. *Limited parking, park on El Cajon Blvd.

Food is really good, their BBQ chicken sandwich is delicious and it’s under 4.00 bucks Service kinda sucks here and they only have can soda

The broth was stellar. I had the meat combo one. The tripe in it was so good. The place has no frills or whistles, just good phở.

This food was very good and even had a vegetarian phở which was extremely hard to find in this area. Prices are along the same lines as most phở restaurants.

Sooooo so yummy. And the service was excellent. We arrived close to closing time but the ladies welcomed us in with a smile and doted on us like they were our moms. Crab soup with muscles, meatballs and boiled blood was delicious. Fresh herbs for the soup were piled high, varied, and super fresh. Will definitely go back.

Ate the Phở Dac Biet. Overall it was not bad. The meat could have been softer to chew. Some of the pieces were tougher than others. Would have liked a bit more tripe. Broth was decent and served hot. Place is small and really run down. Condiment tray was pretty dirty. Cash only joint. I had to leave and come back to eat. If your fav spot is closed this place will hold you off.

«it doesn’t hurt to try new spots around the area.» Guess I was wrong. I was really, really, really, I mean really, wanting to eat bun bo hue, but my usual spot was closed for Chinese New Year. Super hole in the wall joint with nobody inside on a Saturday night. I wonder why? The fresh bbq beef spring rolls looked hella sketch. The yellowish lettuce made me not want to eat it. I said, eff it– at this point I was hungry. Bun Bo Hue was okay. I’ve had worse elsewhere. The noodles was really over cooked. Meat was tough. Eh…

This is where you can find just good olé phở. Nothing crazy, no second guessing what they put in it. It’s just good, olé, delicious, meat and broth filled phở. The place is pretty small. Not much to look at on the outside but on the inside it’s clean, bright and welcoming. Still a pretty typical phở spot but I find that I can still sit down comfortably and take some time to enjoy my meal. No complaints on the service and they’ve accommodated my request to either have a noodle-less or noodle on the side phở. I didn’t think it would be a big deal but apparently can be; Saigon, a prior fave, wouldn’t do that . Simple to the point, good bowl of phở. They are definitely on my list of good Viet/phở places in town.

Went for dinner last night and it was great. The bf had the bun rieu cua(crab broth soup) and I had the phở. Both were very tasty. We also ordered the shrimp spring rolls which came with a sauce that was absolutely delicious. This was my favorite. This seems like a place that is kind of under the radar because there was only one other couple in the restaurant when we were there. However, I would definitely recommend and am looking forward to going back.

Good food. Authentic. Low prices. Friendly service. Clean place. Free wi-fi and it works. Free parking in back. Everything is right. The only disadvantages are that it’s not a particularly attractive place, and it’s in a seedy, run-down neighborhood. But so what. It’s really good.

Perfect for when you been partying the night before and all the nutrients from your body have been depleted because you had one too many drinks, than your girl starts to mouth off about how you’re always drunk. The phở helps.

I’m not 100% if I agree or disagree with all the reviews on here. I can’t say its the best phở place and I can’t comment that they have the best bun. It’s good but the three times I have been here I felt something was missing. So overall unfortunately after trying this place three times and I have tasted the Phở with rare steak, the Phở with Chicken, The Bun Bo Hue, and the Bun Rieu. It was just okay.

Nhat as good as I expected. I’m a little shocked at how highly rated this establishment is. The phở was disappointing, the banh mi bread was not fresh, and the atmosphere left a lot to be desired. The worst part of it is that we drove from downtown to get there because of the high ratings. That is after we were distracted too long by a crazy, ahem, I mean«eccentric» woman on the beach because we were being too polite to excuse ourselves. Then we couldn’t find gas near Enterprise rent a car and were almost late to the airport. To sum up: the whole day was just like the food at Nhat Vy Phở!

While this eatery had a couple minor issues, I was refreshed by it’s welcoming atmosphere and that it is apparently female run I wanted to try a new phở place, and actually picked this place by accident thinking it was another establishment. We decided to go in anyway. It’s a small place and we were the only ones in there. The women were polite and cheerful from the moment you walked in. We ordered the egg rolls, pork spring rolls and rare steak soup While the soup at $ 7.00 is a little higher than other phở places, it is one of the best I have tried. The meat was flavorful and all the accompaniments looked and tasted fresh. The egg rolls were decent too However the spring rolls($ 3.00 for two) were a bit of a miss. They fell part very easily and were hard to eat. There was a gritty consistency to whatever was put in them that was off putting as well. The water tasted a tad weird too. I wouldn’t mind dropping in on another occasion just for the soup. It would be worth it to me just to come back for that

Service was great even though we went literally 30 minutes before closing. I got the tai rare steak phở. delish! Then the egg rolls, BOMBBB! I actually ordered seconds :) Then the drinks are like typical Vietnamese restaurants, its a soda can so you do not get refills. This is a little hidden gem that I will definitely go to again.

This use to be the Torta Factory, which was the last time I was here. I don’t get down to this side of where I work because I can just walk to another place. However, my school was in the middle of testing and my partner in crime, Yoly, made me come here since I’d never been. It’s a family owned business and they are very friendly. I ordered the shrimp spring rolls, a Vietnamese coffee, and a Thai Boba for Yoly. $ 7.50 for all which is very reasonable considering I pay $ 6.50 at the other place for just a sandwich and coffee. The rolls were good and the peanut sauce was great! I have yet to sit in and try the Phở. Overall, I will definitely be back which means I’ll have to walk my fat ass a little farther for lunch, but I guess that’s a good thing. I need to get out a little more and not work as much. I’d feel like I’m cheating on my other place because they’re just so darn friendly over there too.
