A restaurant named Savory Kitchen is going into the space vacated by Uncle Vinnie’s. I looked up the business license, it’s the same owner as Uncle Vinnie’s, they apparently are just changing the name/food. Sure hope they get new front people to do the day to day running and customer interaction, otherwise Savory Kitchen will be closed within 6 months.

The ingredients are not fresh at all. Nobody goes to this place anymore because the business is slowly lacking. Service is horrible and a ton of dishonesty. Food is overpriced. Save your money for better use.

As soon as I walked in this place I wanted to walk out. I was expecting a NY pizza joint based on how the outside looked. A place with a selection of slices in a glass case. When I walked in I was totally thrown off by a chalk board that had kabobs as a special. Kabobs at a pizza place? Well it’s not run by Italians that’s for sure. Aside from that everything had a price tag on it. The bar, the shelf holding the silverware, the gate separating the kitchen and the front. Just weird. It’s like they were liquidating the place and I quickly wanted out because it was probably going to be really bad since they were apparently going out of business. But it was too late, it was only me, the crickets chirping(literally) and the lady behind the counter. «What can I get you honey?» I ordered a large pepperoni pizza and chicken wings. $ 30… There were no prices posted anywhere. Seemed expensive though. After that weird experience the pizza was actually good and so were the wings so I give it 3 stars

The worst business lady ever, that’s why she is going out of business, left lonely by her 3 Rd Husband, what a life to live at 65, I saw an add on CL, restaurant closing, equipments for sale, I go there, saw the equipment, asked her about the ice machine, 300 $, working condition, yes it works, l give her 100 $deposit, the rest 200 $, when I pick it up, great, done deal! Even helped her making 6 pizzas, cause she was short on help, Called back 3 days later to pick up the machine, was told the ice machine is sold, come pick up your deposit, !!!what!!! Yes pick up your deposit, no Q, ask please! What a low class Persian lady!!! She is being punished without realizing that!!!

I have tried this restaurant 3 times. I really wanted to find a new pizza place. Friendly service but the food lacks taste.

Came for lunch, ordered a slice of pizza. When it was reheated, they gave me two slices and charged me for two($ 5.50), thinking I wouldn’t notice. Waiting for my refund.

Delivery took 55 minutes. Saturday night, but it seems like a long time. The flavor of the pizza was excellent. However the crust was extremely tough. The pizza was over $ 20, same pizza from Domino’s 10 bucks.

First and foremost, the pizza is good. I’m from NY so this means a lot to me. Now, for the reason I only gave Uncle Vinnie’s 2-stars… I basically agree with many of the other comments. The place is a joke and the service was laughably bad. I don’t think it’s on purpose; the proprietors seem to be completely clueless as to customer service. I’ll consider the place again for take-out, but I’ll never be dining there. That being said, it’s worth checking out just to see how bad it is! Here is a run down of my experience: — Walk in, place looks nice, no one at the counter, no posted prices — After a few minutes I call for help and get a menu — A few minutes later I call for help and place my order — I’m charged more then the menu price, I ask and I’m told«that’s tax», I tell the host that tax isn’t that much and she hits a few more buttons and charges me the correct price — We’re told we can sit and they will bring out water. Now we walk through the place and it seems that whoever designed the place didn’t know what they wanted. Is it a bar or a restaurant? There is a pool table and a full bar which are out of place, especially since a table is so close to the pool table that it’s difficult to walk around and because another table is actually under the overhang of the bar. The only people who came in while we were there were families who seemed to know the employees so I doubt the pool table or bar is ever used. — 10 minutes later water comes out in dirty glasses — I ask for straws — A family sits down and the host changes the TV directly over me on which I was watching ESPN, without asking, to Nickelodeon for the kids. The kids are facing away from the TV. It seems like she was trying to help the family but didn’t care about me. — 10 more minutes later our pizza comes and we get the straws for which we asked. I’m dismayed that the pizza actually looks good. After all of this, I was really hoping it was bad so that I could forget this place but, as far as pizza in CA goes, this was pretty good. While we were there the host was very friendly to the families who came in; they appeared to be on a first name basis. These families were also served faster than us(maybe they called ahead?). The host appears to have the ability to be friendly which made the experience even more confusing. In summary, I would suggest checking the place out for the pizza as long as you are prepared for an «interesting» experience. If you are considering opening a restaurant, stop by to take notes on what not to do.

Excellent food and service. Very friendly staff and excellent food. The wings are perfect and the 7 topping pizza option is a really good deal. The only problem with this place is the snobs that have been going there and then bitch on Unilocal. It’s clear from the impression we got from Unilocal vs what we experienced was way different. This place is awesome! I recommend it. My first 5 stars!!!

Really terrible service. The middle-aged woman who usually deals with customers on the phone and in the shop is curt and rude despite peppering her sentences with references to you, her customer, as «honey». This is the only time you might actually feel like a customer. The exchanges with this woman feel somewhat like the exchanges Seinfeld’s Soup Nazi had with his customers. But since this is reality — it’s not as funny. So, the quality of their food is a little better than good — above average. But their rudeness and inaccuracy of online pricing with their online menu causes an issue. When ordering, the prices are higher than you expect. But these aren’t the things that are really dismal. What is dismal is when orders are fulfilled incorrectly and the owner/middle-aged woman cops an attitude with you like the customer is the issue. Then she offers to credit your account the next time you order and when you mention it at your next order, she not only forgets when she rings up the order but then she doesn’t fulfill the comped item when the order is done. So there is no comped item for the mistake they previously made. Pretty messed up, right?!? Here… It gets better. The middle-aged woman/owner who constantly promotes their delivery service then tries to get us to «pick-up» the order when we finally decide we’d like to have an order delivered by telling us the delivery time is «very long». When I ask how long«very long» is, she replies«45-mins to an hour». I tell her we can wait an hour. She gets our address and I give her our cross streets. More than two-hours after placing the phone order the pizza hasn’t arrived. My husband and I have called the restaurant twice and the middle-aged woman/owner isn’t around. She is apparently delivering our pizza. That’s what they said the first time we called. The second time we called, we are told by the same guy who told us our pizza was on our way 30-mins prior that part of our order is sitting at the shop. He has no idea about the other/comped portion of our order. We were already told the middle-aged woman/owner probably got lost trying to find our house. What? Hello… Listen to what you’ve told us so far. First we are told our order is on its way. Then we are told our order is still at the shop. And we are told the owner/driver is lost. They have our phone number and address!!! I’d say she’s lost. She’s lost her mind thinking that she can stay in business with this level of incompetence and rudeness. She’s also lost our business. We couldn’t even officially cancel our order because the guy who tried to help us with our inquiries as to our delayed/no-show delivery does not know how to operate their computer systems so couldn’t cancel our order and he’s unable to contact the middle-aged woman/owner/driver person who apparently delivers pizza orders without the aid of a GPS or a cell phone. Maybe this business’ delivery transport is by mule. So, our order is a no-show. The single-person left at the shop after the middle-aged woman/owner/driver went to supposedly get lost delivering orders w/o a cell phone and w/o GPS by way of some sort of transport which may not have a motor is unable to actually service customers effectively. And… we’ve had to call our CC company to address the payment that was pre-authorized. Let’s hope some false signature doesn’t appear on the receipt for the order that was never delivered. This place totally sucks! I give them 1-star only because I can’t rate them zero stars and they can’t credit me with stars. Unreal.

Love uncle vinnies! I had no idea they deliver to my neighborhood and have been ordering from Oggi’s– uncle I found this place. I’m a huge pizza addict and they perfect the pepperoni mushroom(my favorite). I’m also obsessed with their thin crust– my favorite style. The chicken wings are also really delectable. Definitely not your traditional buffalo wings with frank’s red hot– they’re not spicy at all but still amazing. Very tender and juicy. The soup is also really great! Faye threw in a free order once and I’ve been hooked every since. Faye, the owner, is so sweet. She always warmly greets me on the phone. I forgot to order ranch one time(a necessity) and called back to add it to my order but she was already ahead of me «don’t worry honey, I know you like ranch and have already included it in your order!» The best! I highly recommend this place!

** This review is based on the regular cheese pizza only. ** Plain and simple, it was just not good. The sauce tasted cheap like a store bought. I asked for extra cheese and there was none. The delivery was super fast and one of the only delivery places close to me, that is why I was so disappointed. Maybe the rest of their menu is a winner, but the pizza was not. #DamnIt

We ordered delivery for our little family party in SD, got a big ass pepperoni pizza with extra pepperoni, a few combination pizza, with some garlic bread, and some wings. Very decent price for all that food, I was actually surprised when I paid for it, pretty inexpensive party if you ask me. Flavoring of the pizza was just wonderful, I love the pepperoni, they do give a lot when you order extra pepperoni, just the way I like it! Combination pizza was also pretty decent, but I am going to stick with my pepperoni pizza. Wings was average, nothing special, Pizza Hut has better wings than here. Garlic bread was pretty tasty, I enjoyed that a lot, but then again I enjoy anything with garlic. All in all, highly recommend this place, would come here to grab some pizza if we have more family gatherings. Very good pizza in this part of San Diego.

Pizza did not have fresh ingredients. Anchovies were terrible. Old lady was rude. She accused me of trying to use the bathroom without buying anything. Again, very rude service. I was there to pick up a pizza. Sorry Uncle Vinnie, my girlfriend and I will not be coming back.

I’m not sure about the other Unilocal reviews, but me and my family love it here! We live right around the corner and this is our usual pizza place. The pizza is great! Thin crust. One of the best pizzas in San Diego I believe. My family is from Buffalo NY-home of the original and worlds best buffalo wings– and we give uncle vinnie’s a thumbs up on their buffalo wings! Crispy, flavorful, and tender! These are by far the best wings in San Diego! The closest thing I can find to Buffalo! We always order a pepperoni, sausage, and meatball pizza. Its always great and fresh! We also love the persian influence! The owner, Faye, is so nice and friendly! We love catching up with her when we pick up our order. Sometimes she’ll thrown in a side of her soup(and we forget what it’s called) but its amazing! Great for lunch the next day! Overall, I definitely recommend Uncle Vinnie’s!

Well, to start with the pizza was delicious and worth the wait. We got a large broccoli, artichoke heart and mushroom pizza for the adults and a half cheese and half pepperoni pizza for the kids. If we had called in the order, and gotten this, it would have been 5 stars. But… We also ordered a Caesar Salad. When the salad arrived it was a mediterranean salad, which the kids won’t eat. When we stated that we ordered a Caesar Salad, the server said that the mediterranean salad was more expensive so we were fortunate. Also I waited at the counter for several minutes unattended when I placed the order. It was a Saturday evening and no one was working the counter/register. Also we ordered the $ 20 dollar bottle of wine, and when we asked what types they had, we were told, «Oh, we’ll give you the good one don’t worry.» An odd answer given that they appeared to have a fully stocked bar. We were charged $ 25 dollars for the bottle(this was consistent with other reviews that caution about being overcharged). When the wine arrived it was open with an old cork in it, and wine up to the cork, which gave the appearance that the bottle was recycled. Other than when they brought out the pizza and salad, we did not have any service at our table. A little odd for a restaurant. Oh, and the televisions were both on. One was much louder than the other, but it was a little noisy for a nice dinner. I’d say that until they get some good staff at the counter and to wait the tables, this is a very good place to order pizza by phone. Don’t come in.

Pizza and Persian, who would have thought?! But it’s ALL good! Had the Works Pizza which was good and the Medium was Huge enough for 4 – 5 people! Nice to see that even native NY reviewers on Unilocal say it’s some of the best pizza outside NY. The highlight was the Koobideh and cherry rice. Compliments each other perfectly! Koobideh was juicy and pure delish! The Chicken Kabobs were so tender and buttery. OMG it was delish!!! In fact, went back a few days later it was so good. I’ve NEVER been to a restaurant twice in one week. haha The owner, Faye is so nice and welcoming. Felt like seeing an old friend. Very pleasant décor with hints of her Iranian background. Wish I lived closer because I would be here every night. haha Thanks Faye!

for delivery, we ordered a large combination pizza with extra sauce and cheese, wings, garlic bread, and a pizza. our total was $ 42. the pizza was super huge and tasted really good. There wasnt much of a crust, which I didnt care for. The wings were not what I was expecting. They werent bbq flavor. It tasted like fried chicken, which was good, but just different(can be skipped). The garlic bread we ordered were also different. it looked like round rolls. I also did not taste any garlic whatsoever. However they were still pretty good and addictive. It came with red sauce to dip in. I am glad we ordered here. The only thing that was kinda annoying was that they didnt deliver unless you spend over $ 35. That is why we ordered so much for just 2 people. however, i still recommend this place.
