Very good tasting tostadas, we had several all were very tasty. I loved that I had two glasses of wine. I would of given five stars but they need to post the spicy levels, we got octopus it was so spicy also one of jicama tacos.

My new favorite spot in every way! Healthy food, seafood tacos, beer, art, and next door to a ChuckAlec Biergarten. Don’t miss the jicama tacos. If the salmon and scallop jicama taco is on the menu, don’t pass on it. Do try the jugos. Loved both the Mellow Yellow and the Tropical Rainbow. Both unique in their own way. Do go to the biergarten and sit outside on a nice day or warm night.

This place is AMAZing! I’ve been here several times and each time the tostadas are amazing. I’ve tried the mixta, camaron, Aquachile, Pibil, y Queso tostadas so far ! Love the aguas frescas, they’re just perfect, not too sweet and definitely fresh… The 2nd time we came the owner personally greeted us and treated us to the Crepa de Pera. This is mouth watering! Must check it out !

3 ½ stars. This place was beautiful inside and had so much to pick from. I got a seafood tostada and my husband got 2 tostada’s as well. On mine, the sauce was a little runny and he said that his had hot peppers in it, which he was not told when he asked for the description. Aside from these mishaps, we had a pleasant experience. Checking in on Unilocal gave me a free agave juice. I chose watermelon and it was very refreshing! We sat at a large table in the middle of the restaurant and the waitress brought out three different sauces(a mild mango one, medium/green cilantro, and hot). I was a little bummed because we were not able to utilize these sauces due to the already runniness of the tostadas, which also made the wrap itself a little moist. However, the inside was clean, bright, and the service was very friendly.

Where has this place been all of my life? Local craft beer with fresh ingredient based food… Fresh sea food and excellent customer service. Interesting combinations and yet unique. I recommend his place for a filling meal that does not leave you bloated and goes down easy with their house salsas. Keep doing your thing Tostadas!!!

I’ve driven by this place on several occasions and always saw a pretty healthy crowd, so I figured I’d finally give the place a try. I played it safe and ordered the aguachiles tostada, small bean and crema soup, aguafresca and ensalada de fruita. Everything was delicious and the service was great! The aguachiles was exactly what I expected– firm shrimp with a slightly spicy green chilli that was perfectly citrusy without being overpowering. Definitely refreshing and light. I liked that the server gave us extra tostada shells as it was definitely necessary. The amount of shrimp was generous. I don’t know if I’m going to be able stray from this tostada option. The bean crema soup was just ok. I’m happy I tried it, but don’t think I’ll order it again. It was a bit too salty and flat as far as flavor goes. I added the habanero hot sauce, which made the flavor more complex, but it was still lacking something. The fruit salad was really really good! Super fresh fruit with just enough honey and huge! I’ll definitely be a regular here!

This place is great! Awesome vibe. Friendly staff. Fresh fish. I went here on a Friday evening with my best friend. We always share food when we go out and this time was no different. We ordered the oysters which were excellent! They were fresh, crisp, and the added in ingredients were a perfect match! I was extremely impressed by the oysters. We ordered various tostadas which were plentiful, extremely well priced, and fresh! The only downfall for me was I am not a sauce on my fish kind of gal. Every tostada is packed full with sauces and different add-ins. Some are very complimenting and some are very overwhelming. The seafood itself was very fresh and good. I highly recommend this place if you dig sauces with your raw fish. The service was great! Everyone was very friendly and attentive and intent on making sure our experience was awesome!

I got a cold and hot tostadas on a slightly chilly monday evening. Forgot the name for both tostadas but the hot one had steak in it and the other one was what the cashier/server recommended. Food was delicious but service was sub-par. I’ll give it another chance but they did not honor my Unilocal check-in or at least pretended to and charged for my agua fresca anyway. I was given a bogo for the tostadas so I didn’t feel like going up to complain(maybe deals can’t combine?) Not sure what the case was but I recommend this place only if you have a good deal as it’s slightly on the pricy side for tostadas and you don’t mind average service.

We were in Biergarten and ordered from Tostadas — so I am not commenting on the ambience of the restaurant. Just the food and service. They were out of Sandia but I did get to try Pulpo, Ceviche de Pescado, Camaron, Callo de Hacha, Salmon Tostada, and Tostada De Filete. My favorite was the Camaron. Absolutely delicious. That was the first one I tried, and I thought it was going to be an amazing meal. Unfortunately it was not to be. First off, I should mention that it took 50 minutes from the time I finished ordering until the food came out. Given that we were not in the restaurant, but adjacent to it, maybe 30 mins would have been OK. Fifty was a little much. As for the food, I thought the Ceviche was not bad. The Callo de Hacha was awful, however. And I was with scallop lovers! Yuck. The salmon was also not good — tasteless and sinewy. I am a major salmon lover. This did not measure up. The Pulpo and Filete were OK, but I would not order them again. Not that I am looking to return, but if I did, I would only be ordering the Camaron in the tostada department.

They have $ 4 Thursdays on their tostadas except for the fillet mignon option! I had the aguachile, flavorful but oh so spicy! It was really delicious, and I much rather come back here than ceviche house in the nearby neighborhood, tbh.

I’d heard that this place was FABULOUS and that it was a big, overpriced disappointment, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Ultimately, I think that it’s more the former than the latter, although I’m not inspired to use all caps myself. The ceviche tostada isn’t the best ceviche I’ve ever had, but it was a generous portion. They gave us extra fresh tostada bases so I portioned the fish out. The smoked yellowtail was rather salty, but good. The cactus portion was HUGE! So, the inevitable comparison to City Tacos. Honestly, I like City Tacos better. The flavor combinations here are just as inventive, but they don’t pull together is the same, miraculous way. I miss the fresh tortillas and the fried tostada makes for a rich dish. On the other hand, the tostadas are incredibly filling and just one is a decent meal. At as little as $ 3.50 each, that makes this place a fabulous bargain. I should also add a big thumbs up for the horchata. It may have just been that I was dehydrated, but it was the best drink I’ve had in ages and I would happily drink them all day every day.

Seafood poetry on a Tostada. Nice spacious storefront with plenty of seating. There are tables both inside and out along with a community table to accommodate larger groups. Clean and chill atmosphere. 5 stars The young lady at the register was very inviting and attentive. She explained to my friend who had never experienced a tostada what each consisted of and happily took our orders. Service with a smile, I love it. 5 stars Now for the poetry: «Over the lips and passed the gums… look out stomach, here it comes!» I ordered the Salmon($ 4), Aguachile($ 6) and a small bowl of Lobster Bisque($ 6). Total frenzy when I got there since I did not have breakfast. *The Aguachile had monster shrimp served with a green spicy sauce and semi-sweet pickled red onion. Spicy as heck but I loved it. *The Salmon had a healthy serving of fish, fresh and slightly sweet due to the apples and dabs of raspberry balsamic vinegar under the arugula. Very delicious and satisfying. *The Lobster bisque topped off my lunch with a warm fuzzy feeling of contentment. Large pieces of lobster swimming in orange creamy goodness. I would definately order it again. Now, these folks must have been mind readers because I was thinking, I wish I had extra tostada shells to eat with whatever falls onto my plate and voila… the darling young lady brought some to our table. I also need to rave that this place fries their own tostada shells providing even more flavor. Cha-Ching, I hit the jackpot with this spot!

We went to Tostadas on a whim/craving for some small bites/tapas-ish food. If you’re in the mood for a change from tacos, tostadas are a refreshing change. The ceviche at this place is ridiculously fresh and tasty. However, after tasting a variety of their menu options, the warm tostadas were our favorites. Make sure you try one of their agua frescas(the watermelon was divine) — it’s the perfect accompaniment to a tostada. Overall it’s a cute dining experience if you want something different– definitely a great place for a casual date night :) The food is probably a 3.5, but the friendly service and prompt food post ordering is a 5!

Absolutely fresh seafood! Yeah, a little on the pricier but fresh seafood isn’t cheap. especially raw seafood. They fill up the tostada with lots of seafood and other ingredients! The octopus and scallop tostada(called Callo de Hacha) was delicious! There were large chunks of scallops and octopus. It was most definitely my favorite. This is mainly because there’s a lot of scallops and octopus. It was very flavorful and I felt like I was in heaven. The salmon tostada wasn’t bad either! They gave a good amount of salmon especially for $ 4. You can get about the same amount of salmon sashimi for more. The salmon layers on a bed of apples and greens. It was an interesting mix and flavor. The ceviche de pescado is more like your typical fish ceviche. It was really good too and they use red snapper. The Mixta tostada was another good one too. There’s a mix of seafood(octopus, shrimp, fish and crab). The raspberry sauce went surprisingly well with the seafood. Since I took my order to go, they packed each tostada individually. They also included a lot of extra tostada chips along with difference sauces. Free agua fresco(fresh fruit water/juice) with Unilocal check-in!

CITYBEATBURGERWEEK #6 Clean, Casual, Cheap, and a Charming staff! And I still needed a small break from beef… this burger week is killing me! Literally! Shrimp Burger: Sauteed shrimp and portobello mushrooms in a creamy white wine sauce over melted mozzarella topped with arugula on a sesame seed bun… fantastic! It was just on the smaller size… maybe 70% the size of the average burger. I think there were 5 shrimps in there, can’t remember because I ate it so damn fast because it so damn good. Get it! Also tried the fresh Honeydew fresca, which was only a $ 1 at the time… refreshing and delicious! I’ll have to comeback to actually try the tostadas everyone seems to rave about.

This restaurant sets a good tone for the North Park eatery. I discovered this restaurant as I was driving out of the San Diego County Credit Union mid-rise building parking lot. The outside tables and plants caught my attention, along with the long wooden«Tostadas» signage on the corner of Iowa Street and University Ave. The clear glass countertop with fruits inside was another attention getter when I drove pass by to park my car. I noticed how clean it was and but didn’t expect much. **Beware: The street parking on University Avenue are limited on Thursdays from 3PM-7PM due to the Farmer’s Market. Service: The young man at the cashier gave me five-star service. He greeted me with a warm welcome to the restaurant when I entered, then noticed me squinting my eyes to look at the menu on the chalkboard above and directed me a paper menu on the table… The cashier told me about the all day Thursday deals: $ 1OFF the Tostadas and Aquas Frescas. They take your order at the counter, hands you a table number, and drops of the food to you when it’s ready. After he took my order, he directed me to the FREE water station and told me to help myself, and sit wherever I like. He made me feel right at home. Ambiance: The décor sets a relaxing ambiance with a modern mix of wooden and metal. Perfect setting to read, write, catch up with friends, or even a date with your partner. Food/Drinks: Delightful Food & Drinks. I ordered the Callo De Hacha Tostadas(Octopus & Scallops) and Cantaloupe Aguas Frescas which was one of the flavors of the day. WOW! The seafood quality was divine! It tasted like they caught the scallops from the ocean and cracked it open upon order. The octopus had a medium soft texture and not chewy at all. I love seafood and ceviche, I’ll admit that their seafood quality is A+ grade scale. The tostadas are made daily from scratch. It’s one of the best I’ve had in San Diego. The fresh flavors from the chopped mixture of red onions, cucumbers, cilantro, citrus, chipotle sauce, and avocados was superb! The cantaloupe aquas frescos wasn’t too sugary, but pureed just right. A refreshing beverage and pair to go with my meal. This is my new favorite place to go for tostadas! I’ll be sharing it with my family, friends, and visitors from out of town for many more visits to come. Salud!

Oh my goodness… One of the freshest, most delicious restaurants I’ve tried recently. This place does not only have DELICIOUS food, but the service is so kind and welcoming. Came in and the cashier was extremely friendly to every single one of the customers. I ordered the Mixta, which is a combination of fish ceviche, octopus, shrimp, crab meat, pineapple, red onions, parsley, tomato, lemon juice, and raspberry sauce and also ordered the Honey Melon Agua Fresca. As I was looking at the menu, it was so hard to pick something because I seriously wanted everything, but I was happy with my choice. They are really generous with the amount of the various ingredients that they give you overall. The fish ceviche, octopus, shrimp, and crab meat were plump and juicy and the pineapple on the bottom of the tostada was just the perfect last touch. They give you an extra chip so that you can crack and eat with the food. Ugh, it’s just so fresh and so incredible. I can’t emphasize it enough. They also have different house sauces they have for you to try with their tostadas which is great as well! The Honey Melon Agua Fresca was kindly given to me on the house which I super appreciated and it was so clean and delicious! It was very light and there was no touch of artificial sweetener. I came in on a Thursday and did not know this, but there was actually a special where all of the tostadas are actually $ 1 off, so my originally $ 5 Mixta turned out to be $ 4! Who doesn’t love sales, especially when unexpected? Made me happy. This place has high chair seating, a couple of individual tables on the inside, and some outdoor seating as well, but overall, the place is more on the small size, so it’s not really a huge party kind of place. On the way to the restroom, there is also a mini art exhibit created by the students at SDSU which is pretty neat too. Parking is pretty tough around this location, but it is North Park so of course parking will be a bit tricky. This restaurant is located a bit further away from 30th street and more near the entrance to the 805 freeway. Overall, I would definitely come back and I’m actually day dreaming about my next visit here!

It seems a bit on the expensive side because each tostada ranges from $ 5-$ 8.50 but you will see why when you get your food. Each tostada is beautifully crafted with vibrant vegetables, fruits, meat and sauces. Each tortilla chip is stacked generously. Definitely new and awesome recreations of a tostada. TIP: Check in on Unilocal for a free agua fresco ! Your choice of watermelon juice, pineapple juice, or hibiscus juice. FOOD: Sea Dog $ 5.00 (Shrimp, scallops, octopus in garlic cream with arugula and onions) This was pretty delicious. Especially if you love seafood, you get a little bit of everything. The garlic cream sauce is great. And the arugula and onions goes great with everything as well. My only complaint would be that the bun itself was too fat and doughy. Sandia $ 6.00 (Ahi tuna, watermelon, red onion, jicama, apples, cucumber, mango, peanuts, soy, lemon juice, orange, chipotle mayonnaise) Absolutely delicious! The watermelon, apples and mangoes really gave this dish great flavor! Callo De Hacha $ 6.00 (Scallops, octopus, cooked with lemon juice, cucumber, red onion, cilantro, avocado, and chipotle sauce) Another delicious one. The scallops are huge and fresh. The octopus gives it texture and the chipotle sauce is great. La De Pato $ 5.00 (Duck meat, red onion, carrots, pear, green olives, habanero chile, strawberry sauce) Definitely a more exotic mix of duck with pear and strawberry sauce and carrots. It has a light and sweet flavor. Aguachile $ 6.00 (Large mexican shrimp, lemon juice, red onion, chile serrano, cucumber and garlic) A simple but delicious tostada. Overall, I loved everything I tried. Food is fresh, flavorful, and delicious.

I love, love, loved this place. I was a little nervous because, well, ceviche could go horribly wrong, you know? But everything was«cooked» to perfection. I ordered the aguachile tostada and the salmon one with apples. Both were amazing and fresh, with a great crunch from the slaws and apples and perfect corn tortilla. They do have some traditional cooked options, but I am really about the aguachile. I want some now. I can’t wait for summer when this place is sure to be packed. Did I mention I love it?

The beautifully prepared ceviche and tostadas here at Tostadas North Park were breath taking. This complacent food blogger was surprised by the simplicity and artistry of almost every item we tried that afternoon. I don’t frequent this part of town often but we decided to make it a fun date activity in the area that day starting with Tostadas North Park. Maria, the nice cashier, offered us complimentary agua frescas. The papaya and pineapple tasted AMAZING. We ordered: — Mixta The scallops tasted oh-my-goodness-fresh and plump. The octopus had a nice chew to it and paired well with the scallops in this tostada. There was also a slice of fresh raw pineapple underneath the ceviche so that component added a nice texture contrast when you took a bite of the tostada. I would have liked to taste more acidity and perhaps salt but then the four freshly made sauces would have been just an afterthought right. You MUST try the mango habanero. You could absolutely taste the pureed(?) mango with a Ronda Rousey habanero punch at the end(well, before she got knocked the eff out by Holly — go girl). — Callo de Hacha I love you raw scallops. This was another fresh tasting tostada but could have used a heavier hand of salt. I also missed tasting pineapple or perhaps another citrus fruit inside this ceviche. The mango habanero and the serrano avocado sauce worked so well with this tostada. — Langosta soup They have two sizes for their soups so we choose the smaller cup version that day. There were nice pieces of langostinas in the soup. It was a thinner bisque and you could taste the cognac in the soup. I would have preferred the soup to have been served hotter though. — Salmon Tostada Be still. Be still my beating heart. This meal at Tostadas was giving me food-hugs left and right. Raw salmon is pretty much tied with raw scallops as items that .happy. Hashtag. This was another overflow-eth tostada that was placed in front of us. The abundant fatty raw salmon tasted soft & luscious. Friend loved the crunchy apples that were studded in this ceviche. — Tostada de Pibil I think I might have found the best puerco ‘taco’ thus far in my life. The Mayan achiote sauce melded so well with the tender shredded pork. You could taste the porky goodness that was in this tostada as the meat was juicy and flavorful. The ripe avocado and tart pickled onions were just wonderful maraschino cherries to this savory tostada sundae for us. There was no need to add any extra flavor or sauces to this particular tostada for us. None. Don’t forget to ask for their homemade sauces: Thai chili, tamarind, serrano avocado cilantro, and mango habanero. This was such a fun meal and I had a foodie’s dream trying out a variety of items. There’s still so much to pick and try from their menu. All the cold tostadas we tried that day tasted so brilliantly fresh and abundant. And I cannot explain how much we loved their freshly made sauces(seriously, be careful of the habanero heat in the mango sauce though — it creeps up on you). I hope Tostadas does well as they’re an exceptional addition to this neighborhood.
