We already love the ceviche house. Juan and Viviana are super rad individuals/couple, ingredients are super fresh, and the restaurant décor is simple and fresh! We tried the Ensenada ceviche(yellowtail with watermelon and pomegranate). Yum! We live a couple of blocks away and will probably be back to eat everything else on the menu. :b!!!

Heard about this new ceviche place that opened recently and I wanted to check it out. Went last Friday Jan 22nd for lunch with a friend. We decided to share 3 different options. The Veracruz ceviche with shrimp/scallops & mango in addition to the traditional ceviche mix. I was impressed with how much you got for the $ 7 price, a full bowl worth with chips on the side. some of the best and freshest ceviche I have eaten. The shrimp aguachile $ 12, this was the perfect amount of spice and a large amount of shrimp at least 10 whole nicely sized shrimp. Most places filet the shrimp open to look like you are getting more than you actually are. Not here the entire bottom of the plate was covered in shrimp. I also liked the style points for the spiralized cucumbers on top! ;) Again VERY fresh and so tender! And my favorite meal of the day was the scallop tiradito $ 13. I had never had anything like this before. They were huge raw scallops seasoned and served with citrus fruits. the presentation was ALMOST too beautiful to eat but we were very happy we did. We sat outside on the small tables on the street. because they make their food fresh when you order the meal came out one after another, which we were fine with because it gave us enough time to have a few bites of one thing before moving to the next. Every single selection had a completely different taste. I hate it when everything you eat from a place tastes the same, not the case here. The only commonly shared factor was flavorful freshness. The owners were very sweet and personable & you could tell very dedicated to providing superior customer service and food! They were telling us how they started out meeting in the farmers market, to recently marry and start their brick and mortar shop. I thought their story was a sweet as their attentiveness to our service. Each time they brought out another order they completely explained the meal and when I said I fell in love with the scallops because I never had them prepared like that, and he was so happy to tell me how he came up with the prep idea. Best thing is that it’s so close to work that I can swing by during lunch to sample the entire menu. After writing this review, I think I might have to swing by for lunch today!

Didn’t really love this place. Although I did want to! I ordered the puerto and rice bowl with fish. The rice bowl was really good minus the rice… The rice had an off flavor. I don’t know what it was but it tasted awful. The fish in the other hand vwas very good! It had a really nice sear to it and the flavor was excellent. The Puerto was good but dang was it spicy! The young guy that rang me up said it had ‘some spice’… I would have to say that’s an understatement lol. I wish it had more jicama as it adds some really nice crunch and freshness to the ceviche. Lower the spice haha.

Fresh seafood and produce! Flavor profile is brilliant. Owners are very warm and personable. Loved the salmon carpaccio and scallop tiradito. Have been here twice once took ceviche to go the next time brought the family. Small locale but so worth it. Almost reluctant to review because I love this place and know it’s going to get super busy. But they deserve it!

Wow! The flavors are great, the fish is fresh. Everything was delicious! I had the veggie chili relleno which had a wonderful smokey taste and of course I had ceviche. Don’t skip the Ceviche House, your tastebuds will thank you!

Run don’t walk to this place! Very much enjoyed the ceviche at the newly opened Ceviche House in Normal /University Heights. The owner Chef Juan Carlos is from Mexico City and went to cooking school in Oaxaca. He and wife run this very tiny spot on 30th street. Only 1 small table inside and couple more out front. There are bar type seats on the side wall and front looking outside. Juan is really cool and took some time to talk to me about his training and focus for this place. Really solid tiradito’s and ceviches all made fresh to order. They also offer a vegetarian chile relleno, and rice bowls as well. I had the yellowtail tiradito, super fresh cuts of yellowtail, thin slices of avocado, tangerine slices, micro greens, and a sauce that was a little spicy, citrusy, yet not over powering. I’ll be going back numerous times to try everything on the menu. SOLID!

Great choice for locally caught, fresh ceviche! We had the Acapulco, La Paz, Ensenada and the Chile Relleno. Everything was excellent and noticeably fresh! We will definitely be back for great quality food at a very reasonable price.

I ordered the Acapulco and La Paz based on recommendations from the owners and I was not disappointed. The Acapulco had the components of a traditional Mexican white fish ceviche but elevated to another level. What makes it stand out is the rosemary-thyme-garlic infused EVOO, which truly layers all its flavors so well. You can taste the freshness of the fish right off the bat that just melts all over your tongue. The sweetness of the cucumber, the creaminess of the avocado and the acidity of the tomatoes and citrus all balance so well together. Finally, it rounds out the dish with a punch of Serrano pepper at the end. It’s pretty incredible how they can take a familiar dish taste like something you haven’t had before. The La Paz definitely had a flavor profile I had never tasted in ceviche form. What truly stands out is the combination of the ginger and citrus, from both the Habanero citrus sauce and the orange zest. Smothered all over the big eye tuna, that was one refreshing dish. I can’t wait to come back and sample the rest of the menu.

So many amazing flavored are happening in my mouth. Had the Veracruz and Endenada Ceviches, both amazing(loved the pomegranate seeds to sweeten) and the Shrimp Aguachile(the shrimp is so creamy and delicious!). Love having a delicious, local business that keeps everything so fresh!

I’m really not sure what the business had this spot before Ceviche House took it, but regardless, Ceviche house is now the most appealing one of that small stretch of businesses. You can tell it’s Ceviche House from the 4 tables they have set up by out by the sidewalk. It’s an order-first-then-seat-self-then-food-is-brought-to-you kind of place. It’s run by a very sweet, friendly, and informed couple. We had the pleasure of eating here two days in a row. Everything was delicious both times. I’ve had the Yellowtail Tiradito, Puerto, Chile Relleno, and Enseñada. At this pace, I may make it through the entire menu unless they switch out a few items based on what’s in season. If you’re super sensitive to spicy food, some of their selections may have a kick to it. You can specify how much more or less spicy you’d want it. They definitely pay extra attention to what’s in season and effective ways to prepare their seafood. They’re slowly raising the bar in that corner or businesses. I haven’t tried taking this food to-go before. Although I’m sure it’s an option, it wouldn’t feel right if I didn’t just enjoy it there. Prices are comparatively less than other places. Refer to their menu in the photo section. Parking is alright during the afternoon(residential street). Nice little date ideas: Eat at Ceviche House for lunch, then walk over to Nomad Donuts for dessert. Eat at Ceviche House for dinner, then swing over to Air Conditioned Lounge or Polite Provisions for cocktails.

I live in North Park and am always looking for a great ceviche spot since it is one of my favorite dishes! My fiancé and I had some take out from there the other night and the ceviche was delicious! We cannot wait to go back for more and the best part about this place is that you will modify it to your liking! I cannot speak for the other ceviches(YET) but the Veracruz is delicious! Yummy, local and affordable are always big pluses in my food searches. *Highly recommended* P.S… the made-in-house green sauce is great!

We took my mom here for her birthday today. I hadn’t heard about the place, but she found it because she loves ceviche. We were SOIMPRESSED. It is so good. If you love ceviche, get there and eat it all. It’s fresh, flavorful, and just amazing. Also, they hid the birthday cake my sister made that we brought in, put sprinkles on it, and then took it out to her after we were done eating and took photos of us with it :) my mom said it was the best birthday she’s ever had. (She does tend to say that every year after we get her good and sugared up on cake, but I think this year she really meant it.)

Came in yesterday, owners were super friendly. I believe I had the Puerto ceviche and this orange mango soda they had. The ceviche was fresh to death. and I found my new favorite soda. Stoked on this place.

Great service, super nice people. Stale tortilla and very bland… would not eat here again. Apparently they don’t have tortillas, but the tortilla like thing was stale… lol…I’m no expert on this sort of food but you probably would enjoy it more than I did.

I’ve been waiting for Ceviche House to open since I saw them at the Little Italy Farmers market more than a year ago. Their Acapulco and Veracruz ceviche is delicious, but also if you come hungry I would suggest you to order a tiradito, it’s a gourmet experience Thai basil, secret sauces, first class fish and seafood in a very stylish spot in North Park The staff is very friendly and really know what they are doing. Juan Carlos, the Mexican chef and owner really looks for quality in the ingredients he brings to the house. Will not miss my weekly dose of Ceviche at CH !
