Tierrasanta Mexican Food

I quite enjoyed the food… I’ve had the shrimp ceviche which was tasty. Although my main entrée was delish… I felt the serving size felt short of par. I’ve order the combination plate, beef burrito and beef enchilada. I wouldn’t mind coming again.

Stumbled in here because fish bucket was closed. I ordered a chicken enchilada and carne asada taco. The enchilda had fantastic sauce on it, no shredded chicken but I’m not that picky. The taco was a little bland in comparison but decent. You get chips green and red salsa. They both were very good but the green was delicious and both were spicy. I also had Jamaica that was really good. Over all decent but I have yet to try Thier margaritas.

Love this place! They have Monday and Tuesday margarita specials! The food is great, good atmosphere, and delicious margaritas!!!

The chips, beans and rice are the best foods on the menu. Worst chicken enchilada I’ve had in my life. The chicken was not shredded, was in chunks (indicative of a lazy cook who didn’t bother taking the time to properly cut the chicken in small bite size pieces) and the cheese enchilada was literally a gob of solid cheese that one could barely sink your teeth into.

Family owned business with exceptional service! The servers are very attentive which is always a plus when dining out. Additionally, the food is amazing and their margaritas are the bomb. Definitely recommend coming here.

Every time I come here the service and food are great! They also have the best margaritas in town. I recommend the mango margarita, so delicious! If you want some home style mexican food don’t hesitate to try this place, one of my favorites in San Diego!

I’ve been coming here since I was little, have always loved there hospitality (very welcoming and genuine) and best of all the food is delicious!!!

They have amazing margaritas! They have just the right amount of tequila! My favorite thing to order is the bean and cheese with ranchera sauce! service is very attentive and the staff is very friendly! It’s a pretty spacious restaurant and if there’s no tables the bar is a pretty fun place to sit and eat ! The bartender Karina is very fun and always makes my drinks perfect !

Had dinner here last night — four of us. I had lunch a few weeks ago. This is a nice, basic Mexican place with a full selection of combinations and specialty plates. Full bar, great service, fast. If you’re looking for fancy, try somewhere else. We really enjoyed it. The manager checked in with us a couple times.

Went there today in between lunch and dinner. The service seems like it took forever, even though waitstaff was visible. I had Beef flautas, rice and beans on the side. My friend had chicken tostada with a fried flour tortilla. Supreme. And yet not, they actually served it with ranch dressing, kind of like Denny’s. My Rice and beans had sat under the heat lamp for so long that they had literally crusted over the top. Gross. Google palomino, it’s close cheaper and way better. Can help but respond to somebody posted that this was a great quote dive bar. Yes they have a full bar, but it’s not a bar. If you’re looking for a good dive bar in the neighborhood, check out JP’s, and if this Mexican restaurant is locally owned, I’m sorry because this place is sorely lacking.

Tried to use their coupon which was on my phone. It had no expiration date nor does not say it needed to be printed. Of course they wouldn’t let us use it, claiming the owner does not like it when there isn’t tangible coupon proof. In my opinion that’s poor customer service. It also shows a lack of trust in their employees. While the waitress was nice about it, the damage had already been done.
We only came because we had the coupon.
We will not come again as it seems by their response that they don’t care if we are happy.
Hopefully in the future they will correct their coupon or try to make their customers at least slightly happy.
Also, the food was decent, but nothing great… had to pay 1.50 for a tiny side dollop of sour cream. Ugh. Don’t waste your time or money here.

The service is excellent! From the waitstaff to the bartender, we were well taken care of. They have coupons on their website to use for a BOGO entrée with drinks and their Sunday Brunch.
I especially recommend this place if you live in the area!

Ceviche was excellent. Good atmosphere and the mecheladas was on point.
Mimosa Sunday for the Chargers chargers game is recommended.

Family owned restaurant which is always great to support! I am a vegetarian and can honestly say one of the best vegetarian burritos in town!

Good salsa. Food is good. Bartenders are great. They have pitchers of margaritas, which are really good any worth the money. Can’t wait to try their Sunday brunch.

I used to live near here and loved it and I still make the drive to enjoy good food, good service, and a simple ambiance.
They are great for big groups. We just had a large party here for a birthday/​going away and they handled the large group perfectly. We were able to split checks no problem. They let us bring and set up decorations and desserts.
Other times I love getting the lobster burrito. I have also liked calling in an order and picking up to take home. We have taking our young kids here and they are very accommodating.
Love this place.

I always like to support local merchants whenever possible. In Tierrasanta, we have a good storefront Mexican place, Chile Peppers (see my review), but sometimes you want to go to a sit down place with a full service bar. That would mean Tierrasanta Mexican Restaurant (TierraMex).
Start yourself off with a real (not wine based) Cadillac Margarita, which you can have in regular (large) or large (jumbo) size, or a Negra Modelo. The menu is extensive, with lots of things you don’t see in a typical Mexican eatery — flautas, moles, picadillo, for example. The portions are large. Service is usually really good, but can understandably fall off a little when they are full up. Staff is always friendly. Their salsas (rojo and verde) are fresh, consistent and tasty! Their beans are good, which to me is muy importante! Prices are fair for a sit down place. My only critique, and it is very small, is that they should get some bigger and better TV’s in the dining area.
So if you are interested in exploring something a little different, with some choices from central and southern Mexico along with the usual BajaMex, you need to try this place!

The food was good BUT the service was HORRIBLE! We got no silverware, no refills, and were never asked if we needed anything. I felt like we were being ignored. I had to call for service to pretty much everyone but our server, which was weird considering she visited all the other tables around us. Took my daughter there for mothers day, what a disappointment! When asked to speak to the manager we were told they were not in. No manager? They also do not have any baby changing tables and our high chair came from somewhere outside. Parking in front of the establishment has a time limit.

I have eaten here 2 times. But my family comes here quite often for yummy dine in mexican food. My favorite part is the complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa always tastes really fresh with a hint of spicy. I had the steak fajita and pollo asado burrito so far. The steak fajita was delicious and the pollo asado burrito was good. The service is also good and quick. I’ll be coming back here whenever I’m in the area craving mexican food.

I aways see the COCKTAILS sign from 52 East and wonder why I don’t roll out of bumper to bumper traffic and have myself some margaritas and a smile and let traffic handle itself.
Today was the day. Not only is this place super cute but they have a full bar and free warm chips and salsa. The salsa is nice and spicy. Had a couple blended margaritas very good noticeable alcohol and pleasant buzz ensued. The cheese enchiladas are sexxxy and delicious. Husband had super nachos. Generous portions and great non-​watered down drinks in cute environment. Love a good dive bar escape from traffic. New favorite joint.

Garbage. Oh and no happy hour. No bueno.
