Rubio’s Fresh Mexican Grill

I love Rubios. But this Rubios was terrible! I would not go back for free. The food was cold and no taste. I will eat at Rubios again bit never at this one… Its a rip off. very disturbing because I thought they were all the same but No…

The owner/​manager of this Rubio’s is amazing. The restaurant is always extremely clean and customer service is always on point. In fact, the other day I came in trying to help my neighbor find a lost pet. He *sorry didn’t catch his name* (the owner/​manager) let me hang my sign on the front of their window!!!

Absolutely disgusting restrooms. If they can’t keep the restrooms clean, I wonder what the kitchen looks like. Inexperienced staff too. There are lots of restaurants in the area, give one of them a try instead.

My must stop in SoCal. Never let down when I stick with the classics. Got great service at this one as well and that made it that much better.
The fish tacos still need to be beat by another joint. They are always good. Stuff like shrimp and lobster can be iffy but the salsa choices and a cold beer make it all good.

Unilocal incorrectly shows this location as closing at 9:30PM. They close at 9:00PM on Tuesdays. I walked in at 9:01PM and they were kind enough to take care of me. I informed them of the mistake on Unilocal.The cashier was still happy to take my order with a smile. Thanks Rubio’s!

The staff are always friendly here, food is consistently good, never have to wait long for service. They keep the place very clean. great job Rubio’s. Kudos to you.

I’m not a huge fast food goer but the mahi mahi bowl they have is so good! It’s got just the right amount of fish, rice, salad, beans, and sauce to fill you up! I get mine blackened (a little spicy)!!

Great food here, just wish the girl at the front counter wasn’t so snarky with me.

Go here a lot of lunch since I work close by. Good service. Simple and fast. Definitely recommended it.

I love love Love the coastal trio tacos! This Rubios is clean and full of friendly faces! Especially love the sweet and friendly cashier with the perfect eyeliner.
Anyhow I love to eat here with my hubby and our dogs, never ever leave hungry or disappointed.

I haven’t eaten at Rubio’s in years (1990s at least.). Pleasantly surprised at how good the low cal salad offerings were. Tried the orange chipotle with shrimp salad. I inhaled it. So much flavor and variety of ingredients. Lower calories with protein. My kids had kid’s meals which gave them plenty of options to choose from. Stoked on Rubio’s again! And if I want to break my diet I can still get that classic San Felipe style fish taco.

Today my co-​worker and I placed a phone order for our lunch. I ordered the ‘Ancho Citrus Shrimp Burrito’ ($ 7.99) for the first time. This was delicious!
Fresh guacamole, citrus rice, black beans, lettuce, red tomatillo salsa, salsa fresca and creamy chipotle sauce! This also was served with a side of chips. I kind of wish there was more shrimp spread throughout the burrito. I would even be okay with chopped up pieces of shrimp so that I can enjoy all the components of the burrito with every bite. Besides that, I really liked this burrito! Another one to add to my favs from Rubio’s.

As far as Rubios and fast food goes this is probably one of the nicer ones. I gave it 5 stars specifically for the service we got on this specific day. Mat was our cashier and he has superior customer service skills. Everyone here seemed relaxed, funny and friendly and it made the regular fast fod experience a pleaseure. The fod was good too! :)

Came in this evening to make a to-​go order.
Gigi, the manager helped me tonight, and she is an absolute peach. Such a kind and sweet lady. Even if a different employee screwed up her kindness would have made up for it.
I will definitely be back in the future, because of the excellent service from her and all the employees I’ve encountered.
It helps they have delicious food, too. Yummy!

We just had the best dining experience at the Rubio’s in Grandville off of Mission Gorge Road. Thought we were just going into grab a quick bite to eat but ended up having a very well-​rounded and pleasant experience. The restaurant was sparkly clean and the best service we could ask for. Mario, The manager, really treated us as if we were in a five-​star restaurant!
I had the beer battered fish taco along with a salsa Verde grilled shrimp taco. For dessert I had a warm churro covered in cinnamon and sugar.
There is a variety of fresh salsas at their self-​serve salsa bar to choose from.
I highly recommend this location for a quick delicious meal.

Got to give it to this place for having excellent parking and the staff always keeps the restaurant nice and clean inside and out. It is very spacious inside which in my experience is not the norm for a Rubios location. The food is typical, not the best fish tacos in town, but convent, fast, and consistent with other Rubio locations. If you’ve never been then I can tell you it’s worth the stop. The original fish tacos are never too greasy, the white sauce is excellent and the salsa bar is always fresh.
Check the board for special, or do yourself a favor and get the gourmet shrimp taco plate. I have never had anything I didn’t like, hence the reason for the four stars. I couldn’t give them that extra star only because I’ve never been blown away by the flavor. After all we are in San Diego and there a lots of fish taco options around town.

Delish sauces and fish dishes! This place is hopping but fairly quick during the lunch hour. I’ve been here in the evening and its a little faster.
The quality is always good and the service is great! I’ve never been disappointed in their service or the quality of food.

Also, I am not certain he was impressed or not, but my friends and I pitched him my idea for a Rubio’s commercial. I am posting it here so he can locate me and give me my lifetime supply of Rubio’s after my commercial idea accelerates Rubio’s to platinum status.
Imagine the scene from Hook the movie where all the kids are sitting in front of the empty bowls and they are about to start the food fight, but instead of shouting RUUUFIIIIOOOO they begin shouting RUUUUBIIIIOOO’S and the table is full of delectable fish tacos, langosta burritos and verde shrimp enchiladas!!!
Yep, yep, I’d go to Rubio’s more if they had that commercial. As it is, I already frequent a few times a month, but if I got to relive Hook every time I came in all Peter Pan Status — like WHOA. you wouldn’t be able to keep me out of here.
One of my favorite things about Rubio’s is the consistency. Each location has the same offerings, and I know when I get a burrito I won’t be moving for a few hours or I can opt for a taco or two and keep bouncing around the rest of the day. The salsa bar has a few options and they’ve recently added two different types of hot sauce to squeeze over the top of your tacos. When speaking of quality, remember the average meal is $ 10 — We aren’t talking melt in you mouth lobster, Rubio’s is a chain after all, but I haven’t had any fish that tasted, well, fishy.
They have seasonal fare as well as far as fish/​lobster/​shrimp goes. My first trip to Rubio’s was when I was about 9 in San Francisco at the Powell Street mall and I have been a fan ever since. I used to chow on the chicken & steak burritos (and omg the nachos!!) but now I am a fan of the seafood fare since I’ve stopped eating land animals.
While I love the $ 1.50 tacos on Tuesdays after 3pm but they are more of a novelty for the price than the best taco you’ve ever had. Instead I opt for the Verde Shrimp and I also love the langosta or ancho chili shrimp seasonal items. They also have some mango salsa options and a bunch of variety compared to (fill in the blank)-berto’s around town.
This location is always clean, with a super friendly staff and never too long of a line. I can usually get from my desk, eat-​in at Rubio’s and get back to my desk before my «30 minute» lunch is up without even ordering ahead of time. They do also to take out, but I prefer to stay with-​in arms reach of the salsa bar.
Pricing — While Rubio’s can’t beat any of the (fill in the blank) — berto’s around town as far as your wallet goes, I can say that quality and taste will totally make up for it!
They make a point to be «sustainable» and they make it easy to find the dairy and gluten in their menus as well.
Vegan options: You can make a few mods to Rubio’s Balsamic & Roasted Veggie Salad (obvi sans chicken– but also I think the corn too) if you’re a total veg head. I don’t know for certain the beans or rice are 100% veg friendly, so you will want to double check on those.
Bonus: This location has beer & sangria for those lunches where an extra treat is called for. :)

LOVE. The place for fish tacos. SO good. Come on taco tuesday, 1.50 for a taco!
Come anyday, the foods great. The service was outstanding, everyone was very happy and nice. It’s a clean Rubio’s which I like and it’s not ever to crowded. I’d suggest coming here over many places with tacos. I can’t say much others havent said… If your traveling here and your looking for good fish tacos, dont think, oh this is a chain, it can’t be that good, it is. and locals eat here, that should let you know something:)
