Simplicity is best when it comes to donuts, that is, in my opinion. I love glazed and sugar donuts and Rose Donuts makes them exceptionally well. The texture is fluffy, soft, and heavenly.

We ordered donut holes for our wedding as a party snack for the end of the night. I called Rose Donuts early in the week and got some information. The lady who answered was super friendly and helpful and mentioned that all we needed to do is pre-order a couple hours in advance to make sure we had enough for our reception. We called the day before to place an order of 15 dozen donut holes and they were ready at the time we needed them to be. Dozen donut holes were $ 1.95. Unfortunately, they only have 1 flavor(glazed), but that was ok. Our guests LOVED the donut holes and they were all gone by the end of the night. Such a great hit to add to our hot chocolate station!!!

I am not an official donut judge, but after sampling a few places in my days, I have to say this place simply has the best donuts. I love their simple glazed donut the best. It is big, fluffy and melts in your mouth. Aside from that bit of perfection, I find that the Boston crème, any of the filled ones, the chocolate glazed bar and most of the others are also quite good. I am not partial to cake donuts in general, but they do make them taste nice. The donut holes are good too, but I would rather have a simple glazed. Cash only. Not too pricey. Fast service. Friendly(but not overly friendly) staff. They seem to have a decent selection of donuts all the time. They are usually in the back when I get there and I have seen them moving trays of food around back there, so they must always be making the donuts and other food. Seem to be open all of the time. I have not tried anything here except the donuts. There are a few tables inside along the window and a few tables outside under umbrellas. Not a huge area to stay to eat, but not too bad. They usually have at least one or two customers sitting and eating when we have been there. The parking is strip mall parking with a few other restaurants and stores. Close to USD, trolley stop and the Humane Society/Animal Shelter. There is another location up the hill also on Linda Vista Road at Mesa College Drive. I have been there once and it is just as good as this one.

Stopped for quick bite with my sons while on vacation. We love donuts and this place was very good. The donuts were delicious. The chocolate raised was Airy and not overly sweet. Tried the Deluxe bagel sandwich… toasted with Ham, Bacon, Egg and Cheese — it was excellent. Definitely a neighborhood favorite. Consistent traffic.

This place not only makes very good doughnuts, but also makes some traditional what one would consider larger, like back in the day. I pick up one of my favorite doughnuts, the buttermilk bar with maple icing and a hot chocolate. The buttermilk bar was terrific. It was large, had a moist soft texture with nice airy bubbles, and tasted of fine sweet buttermilk, not to mention the great layer of flavor maple icing on top. The only thing that was missing was some crispy bacon pieces. The hot chocolate came from one of those commercial machines. It was okay, and had a good chocolate flavor, but was a little on the sweet side. It came piping hot. They make the complete array of doughnuts, including croissants, muffins, and sandwiches. They have a good system, where they have multiple individuals helping customers to keep the lone flowing right along. Great doughnut and service, of course I am a fan.

Just bomb donuts man. They have tons of great breakfast combo deals too, like bagel and croissant sandwiches with coffee and a donut, but the real deal is the donuts. I got a Vietnamese coffee with my donut last time I was there and it was a crazy sugar overload. Be careful, just because you are an adult and have no parents to tell you what to do doesn’t mean you can’t make bad choices. :)

Work meeting was happening and I needed to buy donuts for it. I checked Unilocal and found this great place. Their glazed donuts are airy light pillows of yumminess and I am hooked. I am not a fan of donuts that are heavy and taste of old oil– many places fail to change the oil and it shows. I haven’t had the breakfast croissants; my work colleague says they are amazing.

We found Rose Donuts on Unilocal on our quick search for a little breakfast on our trip from San Diego to LA and were glad to get there! Parking is possible for free right in front of the shop, the staff is friendly and the food they offer is pretty good! Fresh baked bagels, croissants and donuts. Paired with fresh brewed coffee, soft drinks and breakfast combos they won our heart. Everything we tried tasted really good and we would have loved to come back again if possible. If you don’t have much time step by and get some delicious donuts for take-out! :)

Came here this morning to grab a quick breakfast and oh my yum! Had the country sandwich(bacon, egg, and cheese) on sourdough and made it a combo(6 donut holes and an oj) — all for $ 6.35! What a great deal. The sandwich was perfectly toasty on the outside while the bacon was perfectly crisp and the cheese was perfectly melty on the inside. Pure perfection. The donut holes were good, on the softer side(I like mine most crusty on the outside with a good frosting shell). Would highly recommend for a quick and inexpensive breakfast on the go!

4.5 stars! When I first moved down to San Diego, I lived in an apartment directly across the street from this place(See my picture… you can see my apartment building in the background.) I would come here often for some donuts. Once I moved out to Santee, I discovered Mary’s, and wasn’t in this part of town too often. I decided to drive down here and take a trip down memory lane. They were just as good as I had remembered! I went with a raised glazed donut and a chocolate covered buttermilk bar. I had a carton of milk to drink. My total was around $ 4.00. Same owners still working there today as they were over 11 years ago. The donuts were very good. The glazed one was still semi warm and had a great chewy texture to it. The buttermilk bar was awesome! It was huge and had a thick coating of chocolate on top. The donut itself was crispy when you bit in and nice and soft and just a tad tangy in the middle. It was a great buttermilk bar and probably the 2nd best I have ever had(Bosa donuts in Phoenix is my #1 buttermilk bar). If I still lived in Kearny Mesa/SD, this would definitely be my donut shop.

I was disappointed after reading so many positive reviews. Guessing like most Donut shops, this is a front for Mob cash laundering thus no credit cards accepted… The croissant was not fresh nor was it made in house. The apple fritter was lacking in flavor and texture… at 5:00am I would have expected it still warm. it wasn’t. And from peering into the kitchen my guess it had been hours since a fresh donut was made. Far from a top notch donut house, perhaps their lunch items make up for it. Seriously the offerings at AmPm or 7-eleven are just as good.

Raised donuts only: dropped by after some beer, got a dozen of donut holes and the last lemon jelly donut. Donut holes: 4 stars, it’s not as fluffy as Golden Donuts’ in NP, but it’s still pretty delicious. Lemon Jelly Donut: 3 stars, there wasn’t that much filling, a bit disappointing. The flavor and donut texture is decent. Most donuts are a dollar or more, I will stick to Golden Donuts’ for now!

SOGOOD. Gluttony at its finest. They have some pretty AMAZING breakfast croissants/bagel sandwiches. I mean. piping hot, crispy, flaky, fluffy croissaints filled with 2(or 3?) eggs, a pile of crispy toasted bacon that somehow doesn’t even manage to get soggy even though you’re taking your time taking little nibbles out of your sandwich because its too hot to hold for more than 2 seconds… oh, and it’s oozing hot cheese the entire time. How could you not love this. If you order it as a combo, you’ll get your choice of a donut and a drink. Pro tip: get the Vietnamese iced coffee if you’re looking for a delicious jolt of energy. It costs a little bit extra, but it’s worth it. Their entire menu is already generously priced and the quality you get from each item is truly amazing. The family who owns and runs this place is so lovely. They always have a smile on their face, no matter how hectic it becomes as children run around pointing at all of the different donuts they want behind the case. If you eat there, they have a few tables inside and outside for you to enjoy your breakfast on, and they’ll gladly bring your food out to you without hesitation(even if you’re sitting right there in front of the counter). They’re the sweetest! Not to mention… they’re also super fast at preparing your order. You’re missing out on life if you haven’t been to Rose Donuts. We’ve definitely gone out of our way to eat here, more than once :) **p.s. CASHONLY!

If you know anything about me then you know I love the D. I am Homer Simpson’s duplicate. This is a cash-only and 24 hour establishment. This little gem is not just limited to donuts. There are also pastries, bagels, hot sandwiches, salad sandwiches, croissants, espresso drinks, ice cream, and milkshakes. I only come here for the D. Why da fuq would I want a chicken salad sandwich from a donut shop? I want a mouth full of Boston kreme, nomsayin? Rose donuts has nothing fancy and everything classic. There are jelly filled D’s, twisted D’s, French D’s, old fashion D’s, chocolate D’s, sugar D’s, etc. I always get the cinnamon roll and the apple fritter. They are both the size of my face and they always taste so fresh. They even taste amazing a couple days later. Just pop it in the microwave for ~30 seconds. The apple fritter has crispy edges and is super soft on the inside. I like the friendly service and I like outdoor seating. If you like the D too, then you’ll like it here!

Classic donut shop and a damn good one! No frills, no hipsters, no «gourmet» donuts. Just your good ol’ classic childhood donuts. Maple bars, glazed, chocolate with sprinkles, jelly-filled, apple fritters… When you’re in the mood for some good ol’ old fashioned donuts that won’t cost you $ 4-$ 5 dollars and doesn’t come with a 30 – 45 minute wait in line– come on down to Roses! Oh and FYI: What’s also awesome about Rose’s is that their 24⁄7 and their breakfast croissant sandwiches make for an awesome late night drunk snack. Annnnddd it’s cash only!

How is it that I never bothered to stop by this location?! In all the years that I spent going to Starbucks, Carl’s Jr and 7 – 11 on that intersection. with all the late nights studying near by. how did I miss this establishment?! Honestly, I thought Rose Donuts was the donut shop located up near Kearny Senior HS and K’s sandwiches. Thankfully, after a long night at the office, I was on the hunt for anything non-fastfood to noms on and my GPS led me here. It’s Sunday after Christmas. The poor lady is still stocked with donuts and working the round the clock! Even when school’s out and business has to be slow. I was able to get a box of donuts and a delicious egg sandwich. Since so many people wrote about the Fiesta Croissant Sandwich(and since it seemed to be the fanciest on the list), I opted for this delicious monstrosity. Big fat fluffy and fresh(even close to midnight!) croissant. ooeygooeycheese. egg with chopped peppers and onions. CRISPY bacon(like seriously the crispiest bacon I have ever had at this witching hour) and lots of it. ham. This sandwich hit the spot and was pipping hot. It has a homemade feel to it but all the bells and whistles of a restaurant style breakfast sandwich. Seriously one of the best breakfast sandwiches I have ever had. And of course, you can’t go to a donut shop and not get donuts. and if they have a deal for half a dozen. you might as well(right??). The apple fritter is as amazing as other people described. Seriously. it’s close to midnight. the donut isn’t warm. but you can absolutely tell it’s fresh. The crunch of the shell, chunks of apple and just delicious donutty yumminess. All the others were fluffy and chewy as they were support to be. I was very impressed, and I found nothing to criticize or critique. As always, mucho kudos for being a family owned establishment. I guess the only irksome part is the cash only aspect. But I get it. Highly recommend. Will most definitely return. Great place to hit up if you’re in need of sustenance at an odd hour. Great prices, great service, and great taste.
