We are happy to have found this shop. Nice selection of teas and accessories. The staff was helpful in finding us a tea to match our taste. We will certainly be return customers.

Ah, a place to buy real tea: Assam, tin kuan yin, darjeeling, matcha! They also have a decent mix of the sweeter herbal blends, rooibos, etc. This is not teavana, thank goodness! The tea is way better. At least if you like more traditional brews. I can’t speak to the other teas. I also saw some traditional tea that would be available on British grocery stores. The service is good. You can smell the teas you are interested in and they are happy to make recommendations. They have tea accessories of all kinds. This place is a lovely little gem for people who like to indulge in a real tea.

Point Loma Tea is a hidden treasure. A small shop in the beautiful historic barracks of Liberty Station, it is easy to miss but a joy to discover. They offer a very large variety of teas as well as pots, strainers, jams and almost anything a tea lover needs. The staff, and the owner especially, were also extremely helpful, knowledgeable and exhibited an inspiring love for tea and a desire to please their customers. I would highly recommend Point Loma Tea!

Pros: * well laid out shop * broad selection of tea * gifts and other tea related utensils, apparel, etc. * great location * free samples * helpful friendly staff * interactive website Cons: * the website is still under construction and the shopping feature is incomplete Overview: This is a great little store, conveniently located in Barracks 14 at Liberty Station. The shop has a wide variety of green, black, Oolong, white, rooibos, and herbal teas. I love tea, but I’m not a connoisseur; so it was great that Cheryl was able to help me select several great teas that have turned out very nice. I am a regular down at Liberty Station at San Diego Writers Ink, but I had never checked out the shops at the far end of the parking lot from where I normally go — that was a mistake and I shall be stopping in as much as possible whenever I’m at the station for tea. If you are looking for a gift, then I think that Point Loma Tea would be a great choice for you to consider. Besides a well round selection of teas, they also have tea paraphernalia(cups, storage containers, infusers, etc), artwork, and even candies to choose from. They have everything that the tea lover in your life(even you) might like. Additionally, while visiting the shop, I learned of a national directory for tea shops called( ). Point Loma Tea is listed in the directory with their highest rating of 5 stars.

I stumbled upon this adorable little shop on a trip to Stone. They have a huge variety of fresh, loose leaf teas and the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. We are now regulars and look forward to discovering the new aromas and flavors we find on each visit. They also have a great assortment of gifts, tea sets and brewing options. Such a cute little gem in Liberty Station!

This shop recently moved next door to where they used to be. Yesterday I stopped by for the second time since we moved here and was highly impressed. The new store is much bigger, and more choices. It’s too bad that this is a hidden gem in the maze that the old training center used to be. Not only I had an amazing pumpkin crème tea, my kids enjoyed the blueberry pomegranate one. I left with some Thanksgiving tea and just finished a cup! AMAZING! I was actually next door painting some pottery when I decided to grab a warm drink. One of the ladies that works there helped me carry my tea. Then she came back with the 4 oz of tea I purchased for my mother in law, and it was so carefully wrapped. I was so excited that I didn’t pay much attention, but I thin the owner even gave me a 10% military discount.

Abbey Rose is a Light, romantic tea with a subtle sweetness that really illuminates the essence of the tea Earl Grey to me is the poster for all black teas, simple but with a bold flavor Café Chai is a strong tea with a spicy flavor to it. It is sweet but has a kick to it, something great to wake you up in the mornings. Bön Bön is a really great desert tea. This chocolate tea has a swirl of many sweet creamy flavors like vanilla and chocolate. Cloud Catcher is very sweet and fruity combination. The kiwi, coconut, and cherry flavors blend into a beautiful bouquet of taste.

I loved talking tea with the owner. She was easily able to steer me to an excellent tea based on my taste preferences. I am a fan of smokey teas. I will be returning.

My wife loves this tea spot! They are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Since she is pregnant they even have a great selection of non-caffinated teas. She loves it so much we drive all the way from Chula Vista to get their teas. Great prices and friendly service!

SHOCKINGLYHORRIBLE. She made me feel like I was a drunk vagrant. Dressed in professional attire and early for a meeting, about two hours early, due to flight schedules, I had time to kill and wanted an afternoon tea. I’m only in town for today and leave tonight right after the meeting. In looking for a tea/coffee shop to get tea, sit and reveiw my presentation, I google this place. Unfortuantely the place was closed. The sign says they are only open on Wed to Sun, Closed monday and Tuesday. No one was there. Never been here before, so I had no idea. I’m not familiar with the area. There is a little bistro table in the hallway adjacent to the front door of this tea place(Point Loma Tea — sounds like a tea shop where you can patron, right?) Again, since no one is there, and I was in the hallway next to the bathroom, I sit down and pull out my laptop to review the presentation make some tweaks, etc. This lady walks through and says can I help you? I said yes, I came to grab a tea and fix my presentation. She says, we’re closed — see the sign? There’s another place across the street, called Chocolate Chi.(Which doesn’t help because this faccility is actually inside an old naval base kingdom. You have to know where youre going or be ok to drive around looking at signs since it isn’t a normal shopping center.) The lady leaves and comes back. She politely asked me what I do, I told her. She asked me where I was going to do the presentation, I told her I cannot tell her for confidentiality reasons, but its nearby and I’m too early. I’m only in town today and am just leaving right after the presentation. She says there is Chocolate Chi across the street. I said, thank you so much and continued working. Because I don’t like chocolate quite frankly. I politely said, oh, ok thank you. Not wanting to be rude, I said nothing about not wanting choclate. The lady leaves. Then she comes back from the other door of the hallway with her cell phone. She’s video taping me while I’m working and sitting in the bistro table in the hallway. I see her at the corner of my eye as she’s video taping my computer and my presentation.(Strange, right) A tall man follows right behind her with a Holiday Inn pamphlet. Then she says in a terse manner, «This is my space and I rent the whole area, you have to leave. ‘You said you didn’t have to leave, its a free space.’» I was taken aback because I never said that and in shock that she heard what she heard from my «thank you». I responded I’m sorry, if you wanted me to leave I would have, I just didn’t know. She interrupted and raised her voice, you didn’t, you didn’t, you said this is a free space. Considering I’m not from the area, I wouldn’t know what’s free or not. Needless to say, I didn’t get tea, the selection of loose tea looked small, there is one bistro table to sit and have your tea, and the owner was alarmingly abrasive and rude to me. I went over to Chocolate Chi before I pulled out my briefcase, asked them, Can I order tea, sit here and work on my computer? They chuckled a bit and gave me tea, great friendly service, kept offering their hand made chocolate. I didn’t have the heart to tell them that I don’t eat chocolate, but at the very least very accommodating. Great service. The lady from Point Loma Tea, I thought she was maybe a bit socially challenged and didn’t know how to carry on a conversation. If she was really just trying to articulate to ask me to leave, she should have said something. I feel bad for people like that.

This is a great find! It is definitely the place to go for an awesome selection of unique loose leaf teas that are very fresh with lots of unique flavors. There’s something for everybody. If you’re not a tea expert, the walls of tea might look a little daunting, but don’t worry: the owner of the shop is very helpful and knowledgeable when it comes to the product. The recent move to the bigger space across the foyer is a big improvement, too. This place is a pleasant surprise for those of us who love tea! They also have lots of tea accessories in case you’ve been more of a store bought tea bag type person and need a steeper or special mug. Definitely recommend this spot, and hey, you’re close to Stone Brewery, so that’s quite alright too. I hit both spots in one trip quite regularly!

I am so glad that there was a stand last night promoting hibiscus tea outside one of the galleries at the Liberty Station, as this was the only way for me to discover Point Loma Tea store! It is so tiny that you don’t notice it is there! But so well stocked of different teas and has a French boutique flavor in it that I adore. The tea boutique was full of people in a very hot night, not the proper way to check everything they have in there, but I noticed those litle Moroccan glasses used in their characteristic mint tea, and those are not easy to find anywhere, not even at posh Teavana. Needless to say that the hibiscus tea was very refreshing and worth the wait!

This tea shop is TINY but don’t let the size fool you, they’ve got great stock and a very helpful and knowledgable sales person. I consider myself a tea person. I spend a fortune at Teavana. I loved Halcyon Tea(until it closed). I tend to be a purist — I don’t like«flavored» tea because it tends to be done with some sort of perfume. Point Loma Tea has very well-labeled stock so I can see that«Oh this is using dried cherries» or «Hey this has lavender in it.» They have some great varieties of tea… and like any shop, ones that I don’t love. Cloud Catcher is a fruit infusion(not a «tea») that is way too light on flavor for me but their black tea(Sea… something), I really like. Cheryl, who runs the shop, has a lot of knowledge and can point you in the right direction if you’re looking for something in particular. They are also INEXPENSIVE. This was a bit of a shock. I was expecting Teavana or Halcyon prices and it’s was half that. Oh, and again. ITISTINY. If you blink, you’ll miss it. If you’re going to Stone Brewery or The Yellow Book Road store in Liberty Station, you’re close! Although they don’t have the room, I would love more samples or even a way to purchase a cup of prepared tea so I can try some flavors that I am skeptical about.
