Always happy to grab lunch here. But I need to set myself a reminder to get breakfast as well since they are open early and the breakfast menu looks very tasty. One of the best things I like about it is the fast service. Unfortunately and Fortunate for me it’s so tucked away that all the people going to Subway and the other restaurants in the parking lot are not aware of it’s existence. When it comes to standing in a 15 person line at subway vs a 3 person line here with better food. Guess where I end up. I’m still making my way through the menu. Happy with every item thus far.

Breakfast and lunch have become a bit of a precious commodity now that I’m working from dawn until the early afternoon. When you’re driving in and the only places open are fast food and 7/11, you(hopefully) either make your own meals or wait for a lull to make a break for something better. Well, near my office is this convenient, little spot that isn’t horrible, doesn’t really aspire to be much better than simple, and, for me, is essentially the easiest game in town. Salads and pasta are made in huge batches and doled out into plastic cups to wait in the fridge. Bottled drinks line the shelves, packages of bread and bagels line the back, and cute, cooking implements abound as you ask for a Sausage Croissant and they custom mold the eggs. I’m told the hamburger meat is now frozen, though I haven’t tried that off the menu yet. The menu is relatively cheap; $ 4-$ 5 for a good sized breakfast and $ 7-$ 8 for a wrap, with salads and side items as well. It’s quick, designed for in-and-out service for delivery and people late for the start of their shift, and doesn’t really stand out or make much of an impact. All in all, On a Roll is the kind of place that inspires two sentence to single paragraph reviews. I’ve had their Signature Breakfast Sandwich, with sausage on a croissant. Cooked well, moist and not dry, everything combines well together and doesn’t fall apart. But, it doesn’t have much in the realm of seasoning, only the fat of the egg and meat, without even much salt to bring out any flavor. The croissant itself defied that trend, having a light crisp to it with a good buttery taste which did make me wonder once or twice if they made them on sight or ordered them from another bakery. Next off the menu, I’ve had Turkey Bacon Avocado Signature Sandwich(everything is ‘signature’ here), served as a grilled wrap. This is was as it said, smeared with a good herb mayo, crisped up slightly in a panini press before serving. The wrap had a good texture, the bacon is thick and salty, better than the thin stringy bacon you would find elsewhere, and altogether much better than their breakfast offering. And to sum up the rest of my experiences, the pasta salad is very forgettable, their smoothies are no better than Jamba Juice or what you can make at home, and they have Starbucks coffee on top of it all. There are many places nearby that offer tastier choices for breakfast and lunch, but I don’t really think I would ever scoff at On a Roll if any friends or coworkers pressed the issue. With very fair prices and food that hits the average and strays above the line at times, this deli is a good way to spend your lunch break.

I recommend this place if you work in the sorrento valley area. I like that they deliver. The sandwiches and food in general are pretty good. The coffee at times isnt starbucks quality. But, u can still use it to get a coffee high. I love my jalapeño bagel there.

Place is average. The bread was insanely dry. Prices are good thats why i gave it 3 stars. Will stick with salad next time or have bread toasted with butter

This was supposed to be a delivery order however they couldn’t process my debit card because it «wasn’t going thru». Which is fine, I drove and picked it up Very nice ladies and service was great I ordered the avocado burger with no onions. And all I can say is ehh. I thought it’d be fresh because I saw them make it. But my first bite consisted of a dry burger and a hard toasty brioche bun. And the WORST part. No chipotle sauce(which is the main reason I got this burger…) I’m pretty sure they had some too because I saw the bottle that contained an orangey sauce that looked very similar to chipotle sauce… I don’t know if I’ll be able to give this place another shot, which is unfortunate because they are so close to the office I work in.

The office was ordering lunch, so I went with the Turkey Bacon Avocado because it sounded awesome(Roasted Carver turkey breast, hot bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato and herb mayo). To my disappointment the turkey was not carver turkey, as a matter of fact it was deli sliced turkey. Although the bread was nice and soft, the ‘herb mayo’ was practically non existent. I hate ordering something I’m really looking forward to and getting bamboozled.. so eat that On a Roll! If you don’t use carved turkey don’t say you do!

So i have been here twice now and i had a wrap each time, the first was the thai chicken and the second visit i had the Mediterranean veggie wrap and let me tell you the veggie wrap was very tasty! The hummus was good, it might have had just a tad too much cause it was leaking but all-in-all i was a fan of the wrap and will go back. The wrap was a decent size, not too small, not too big and a good price, less than $ 7. it came with a pickle, which i am not a fan of pickles but to each their own… i will go back and plan to get the wrap again! My co workers had clam chowder and were big fans, maybe not their best one to choose. The paninis looks great and a good size and perfectly paninized! Also, this place is never too packed so it is a short wait time to get your food if you are on a quick lunch time.

This place delivers to places in Sorrento Valley. I’ve never been in the café. i was able to call in my order and it was delivered pretty quickly. I got a veggie sandwich and it was pretty good and big. The bread was nice and toasty and I got full off of half. This isn’t something I would crave for, but if I needed to get lunch I wouldn’t oppose it.

The best thing about this café is they bake their bread fresh and it really makes any sandwich of your choice amazing. I wish they would stay open later but i guess being in a business area they close early.

The bread here is amazing. Overall, the flavors are good. The reason for 2 stars is the price. ½ sandwich(literally 2 slices of thin deli turkey, mostly bread) and side salad for $ 9. That is outrageous and just not worth the money. The chicken power wrap is good and you get more for the money.

This is a great place to meet clients — large outdoor seating area. I usually go here for a coffee and a pastry — love whoever makes their Blueberry muffins. Food is not bad — typical sandwich fanfare. And bagels.

This place really disappoints. It was nice to see a promising breakfast/lunch shop open up near my workplace, however, the enthusiasm quickly turned into the reality of what opened up. I’ve been here 10+ times and each time, there is an issue. I have received the wrong bagel, a frappuccino that was nearly impossible to drink without wanting to spit it out, the list goes on. I hadn’t been there in a few months due to the lack of good service and the«meh» food, but I went there today(forgot my breakfast and needed something quick) in hopes that it would be «good enough». I asked for a bagel with butter and jam, and when I tried to let her know which bagel I wanted, she literally just ignored me. Not sure if she didn’t hear me, but I said it twice. Low and behold, I got the wrong bagel. Not only that, but there was SO much melted butter that I am convinced I received a wrapped bagel that was dunked in a bucket of grease. So gross. I also got an iced coffee that was about 3 bucks that is a complete waste of money. How do you mess up an iced coffee? That’s it for me with this place. Very disappointing.

Best lunch option in Sorrento Valley! They have a variety of options including sandwiches, wraps, salads, soups, and paninis. They even serve Starbucks coffee! This is a great one-stop-shop, especially if you’re picking up food for a group of people. Great picks: Thai chicken wrap Power wrap Power bowl

Working nearby and tried it. The portion was fine for me but the sandwich was mediocre. Price was a bit high for a sandwich.

This place is a piece of joke. I ordered classic sandwich with smoked turkey/smoked gouda/and extra honey mustard. This is what I got: –The lady said«sorry we ran out of tomatoes is that okay?» No it’s not okay. It’s Friday afternoon 12: 15 pm. When you opened the restaurant, and the tomatoes are low in stock, you better make sure you get them. –Over priced Small piece of sad looking soggy sub($ 6.75. It should’ve been $ 3 at most) –The lady put«yellow mustard» instead of «honey mustard» –Portion is ridiculous. Are you feeding a 1 year old kid? Even my 2-yr old son won’t approve this place. As for the taste, nothing really special. This place also serves Starbucks Coffee. I suggest get rid of Starbucks portion of business and concentrate on what you are supposed to do: Make a damn good sandwich.

My first visit here… not terribly impressed. the service was very cold. no greeting, no assistance to question. no smiles. This is a very small place and unlike the other side of the complex with a million places to go. this is a secluded place. I got the california veggie panini, it is ok but I am not blown away. portion size is ok. not like Croutons where one person cannot finish an entire sandwich without going into coma later… Taste wise, the panini tastes good but its a lot of foccacia and not much filling. i would like my paninis on ciabatta or whole grain cos they get a better texture when pressed in a panini press… I will go back as I am intrigued by their other veggie options like the veggie wrap, and other sandwiches… but I still like Croutons much better for the price and taste…

We’ve order as a group from here three times already and each time the food had been great! They have friendly service and deliver to you for 1.50, which is well worth avoiding lunch traffic in sorrento valley. Paninnis, wraps and salads have been good!

The place is new and they certainly still have some jitters, which they can’t be faulted for too badly, yet. The food is just ok, and nothing I have tried comes close to gourmet. They don’t even really offer anything that fancy, perhaps the thanksgiving sandwich is the closest, but it’s actually one of the worst sandwiches they have imo. Price and portions are average for the area, meaning you are getting slightly ripped off for food that is nothing to write home about. I would go again for a change of scenery, but you could just as easily go to croutons right next door for the exact same style of food, or subway/quiznos, which are on the same block, and be just as happy and spend less.

If I wanted a bagel sandwich from Einstein Bagels, I would have gone there. My choice of bagels for my breakfast sandwich was based on what was in the bag from Einstein on the counter. For the record, I think Einstein has crappy bagels, so this was a major disappointment. They have signs everywhere that boast that they proudly serve Starbucks coffee. Where’s the sign saying the proudly serve Einstein bagels, hm? The service was okay, when they finally acknowledged my existence. They had just opened, so there was just me and one other person, and 3 or 4 employees. I was perusing their menu board for a few minutes, but a «Hello» or «Welcome to On A Roll» or «If you have any questions…» would have been nice. No one spoke to me until I walked up to the counter to place my order. And this place is TEENY, so it’s not like they could have missed me coming in. My(Einstein) bagel sandwich was okay, but on the small side. Overall, just not a great experience, and not worth it. I’d rather go up the road to The Grill and Market, or a mile or so down Mira Mesa Boulevard to Donut Touch for my bagel sandwiches.
