We loved this place on our first trip to San Diego. We tried to go back this time but they are CLOSED. so sad they had the best view and great food. I remember out server was very nice.

Food is great but the service is a little slow. Bloody Mary’s are good but expensive. Great view of the ocean at any table.

Despite some the reviews we decided to try out this place anyways. It’s right on the beach so it’s a great place to eat breakfast. Maybe it was because we came at 8:30am and were one of two tables being served but it was fast and the staff was friendly. Yes, the potatoes were cold, but the waiter brought out a hot plate of potatoes for us when we mentioned it(wasn’t expecting that). The croissant sandwich was pretty good, and larger than I expected. You can’t beat breakfast on the beach!

Amazing breakfast place — the food gets 5STARS! I ate here four days in a row. There was a certain classiness to this place as casual as it was. The entire rectangular structure is situated where almost every table has a view of the ocean. There’s even a coffee barista for specialty drinks. All the servers are the best. Try the oatmeal which is topped with an abundance of blueberries, strawberries, and blackberries. The croissant sandwich has loads of items in between the two pieces of the croissant! There’s an omelet with spinach & goat cheese. But seriously — the food, all of it, gets 5STARS!

Great place to take out of town guests! We were a group of 12 and decided to sit on the sidewalk area of their restaurant. Down side to eating on the sidewalk is that you can’t order any alcoholic beverages =(But, I wanted my group to enjoy the San Diego weather and the view, which happened to be beautiful this past weekend by the way! As far as food, my daughter and I shared the breakfast burrito and the lemon blueberry French toast. The Breakfast Burrito, was HUGE! The plate also came with a side of hash browns. The burrito had eggs, cheese, pico de gallo and your choice of bacon, sausage or ham. We chose bacon. The eggs were fluffy and it blended well with the melted cheese and the taste of the fresh, juicy tomatoes, the bite from the onions and cilantro, complimented this burrito very well. The bacon was cooked to a perfect crisp and did not get soft with all the other ingredients. The hash browns, were okay, not really the star. But, I liked it, especially the crispy ones! My lemon French toast was a perfect portion for me. Not too big. Two slices of bread cut in half, lots of blueberries and just enough powdered sugar was dusted on my plate and my French toast. The lemon curd that was found in between the bread was yummy and had the right enough sourness and sweetness to the curd. If you like to dine under the sun and by the sea, and you like the more casual, laid back setting, this is a great place to consider having breakfast or lunch! Btw– breakfast is served all day here!

I used to go here all the time before I moved to Missouri 2 years ago. I moved back last September and noticed there have been some changes. Changes for the good. The food is fantastic and you definitely can’t beat the view. 2 thumbs up from 2 fluffy foodies.

Decided to stop here for lunch, beautiful day, great view. I wasn’t very hungry so the waitress suggested something from the kids menu, I went with the chicken quesadilla and a side of fruit instead of fries. I was shocked with the amount of food I got. It was very tasty, service was very good. I would definitely come back again.

Terrible service! My coffee got to me cold, after sitting on the bar for 10 minutes, we’ve seen our waitress, Danielle, twice in 30 minutes, there are 10 servers standing around talking with less than 10 tables sat, and we have been waiting for our check for about 10 minutes now. Other tables have been sat, served and left in less time than we’ve been sitting here. Food was okay… But probably won’t return.

Great location but the food is just so-so. My omelette was over cooked and extremely salty. Next time I’m just ordering drinks!

Really happy I decided on brunch here this morning. Not a particularly long wait for a table on the boardwalk, or for my food. «The Basic» breakfast came with thick bacon, cooked perfectly, two eggs, four large pieces of toast, and awesome breakfast potatoes. All for $ 10. Service was good, too. I can see where they might get swamped, but not so this morning. Thanks Danielle! Oh, and you can order some good coffee off the Caffe Calabria menu. My coffee did come out about a minute after my breakfast, but my fault for not checking the coffee stall line, first.

My first time here this morning & I really enjoyed it. Tessa was our waitress & she was amazing. Very friendly & great customer service. We sat on the upper deck under the heaters, there was a pretty nippy breeze. For breakfast I ordered the croissant breakfast sandwich that came with a side of breakfast potatoes. It was delicious! My cousin had ordered fish & chips, however they only serve fish tacos. On the bright side the chef was kind enough to make an exception. She also had a cup of hot tea & the tea bags were so neat. Never seen one like it before. I would definitely make the trip back for breakfast, before the lunch rush. I’d rather be cold in the morning breeze & have my food in a timely manner than sit at a table for an hour with no food in my stomach.

Food was excellent everything came out hot and portions were large, however service was slow. Had to wait for a while for our drinks and to place an order. It was rather busy when we arrived but by the time we were ready to order it had slowed down enough that we felt as if we were waiting longer than we should have to.

I love the WaveHouse, and hate to leave a negative review for North Shore, but I had a terrible experience here at the coffee stand last month. I live across the street from Belmont Park so I’ve been in the area quite often. Recently, I ordered a hot mocha and an iced mocha. I placed my order and figured the drinks would be ready by the time I got my car that was parked on the street. I got my car, and parked next to the stand, and the drinks were still not ready. The barista looked at me and said that it’d be ready right away, she was just waiting for ice. She wasn’t just waiting for ice. She was making the drinks then and there. Granted, she probably thought I was going to take forever, so she may have given the mochas, meant for me, to the couple who ordered after me. Also, it was Sunday when Wavehouse brunch is usually busy. Given all the benefits of the doubt, this was the stand meant for coffee on the go. This was not on the go. I definitely would not have gone here if I knew this coffee stop would delay me by 15 minutes or more. Absolutely ridiculous.

After a walk on the beach on an early Saturday morning, we stopped in for some breakfast. It was about 9 – 10 am and guess what? They are out of potatoes! So no hash browns which was a major downer. I ended up getting an egg white omelet which left me wanting more. For the location, I expected more and better. Everything was sub-par, from the food to the service and to the selection. I should have walked a bit further down to another breakfast joint nearby. Made me wish Jack n the Box was still across the street.

Sit up under the covered patio if you want to watch the ocean and beach while you dine. The service was good, the food was decent and decently priced. I ate here for the view and the food did nothing to detract from that. I was only there for a ‘snack’ lunch and it was good. Wish I’d been there for breakfast!

This place is okay. Service is fine, price is decent, atmosphere is casual, and the location is also nice cause it’s right by the beach although it’s busy bc there are people walking around you all the time. The food was good BUT it didn’t come out hot, which made it unappealing. The rice was also on the pretty undercooked side — still edible, but I would have preferred that they be softer. It was also FREEZING and they don’t have any heat lamps on the ground level. We also kept getting mist(perhaps from the wave pool down the walk?) and it was making us even colder. Would we come back again? No, it wasn’t anything special.

It defies comprehension how anyone could rate this place anything higher than 3 stars — even on a good day!!! Been there twice now and they dropped the ball each time. The breakfast food in particular is very, very sloppy and seems to get by only on a bath of butter and salt. Not to mention, the food is so poorly prepared you can actually feel your stomach ache coming on as you are eating. Something is definitely amiss in this kitchen! Not to mention — there is nothing«North Shore» about this place. We are from Honolulu, Hawaii, and we frequent North Shore. A place like this would not last five minutes in that town. Word of mouth is too strong and the residents do not settle for mediocrity like this café. The café is saved only by the fact it is basically on the breach and gets a lovely breeze and atmosphere. Otherwise — skip this place at all costs!!!

I hate to give a 2 star rating, but isn’t Unilocal all about being honest? Best thing about this place is the view/seating. I was out running on the boardwalk this morning and got lured into taking a break and doing some people watching. I ordered the T-rex scramble and coffee. I sat down almost on the boardwalk which was cool, but I’m not sure the wait staff remember that majority of the seating is not next to where they congregate?(hint, to the waitstaff… you’re in the SERVICE business and get paid when you give good service. I know it’s tough to comprehend, but I’m sure your hourly wage will remind you of this should you forget) The food was delivered and came with an english muffin and potato’s.(actually I opted for tater tots because I felt like I might as well take the plunge of caloric death if I’m going to eat along the boardwalk. Just seemed like a good idea at the time) The english muffin was not toasted and it was actually cold, like refrigerator cold. The eggs were decent, but were also cold. The coffee was good, but I didn’t get a refill, as my waitress was too busy talking to her coworker about last night’s Halloween party. And the tater tots were everything I remember them to be, as the last time I’ve had them was when I was 9 years old. They were the best part of the meal, hands down. All in all, the only reason I’d spend anymore money on this place is if I had friends in town and wanted to grab a cocktail and sit by the beach. Other than that, I’d skip it.

Great views, but the breakfast was not so great. You’ve probably walked by this place many a times along the boardwalk by the roller coaster in Mission Beach. I was with my running buddies and we figured, what the hey, let’s get some food here as well. I have to admit the only thing good here is the view of the beach and the other runners. Service was good, but my waffles were dry. The only thing adding to the flavor was the strawberries, bananas and the whipped cream. I’m usually good in finishing my dessert but I wasn’t pleased and as such, didn’t finish my plate. I did get a bite of my friend’s egg benedict. Now that was decent. Why is it that food taste better when someone else orders it? Whatever…I left North Shore Café craving for some waffles at Roscoe’s but the nearest one is like an hour and a half away, so you know I was quite disappointed after this visit. But hey, you can’t beat the early morning views of the beach and the boardwalk.
