Was looking for a new place to get a great massage and came across the reviews for Mesa spa. I was curious that they had a couple bad reviews, other reviews recommended them very highly. What I have come to realize most that one bad massage technicians can make all the difference in the world. I was greeted at the front desk by a very nice woman by the name of Cindy. She asked me what kind of massage I would like. I requested a 90 minute massage on my shoulders, neck area, lower back, and legs. I was escorted to a nice massage room with a very sturdy a comfortable massage table. I waited about five minutes for my massage technician to come into the room as I relax listening to soothing music. She proceeded to scan the areas that I have requested to be massaged. She proceeded to massage my tired and tight muscles and releasing Myofascial tissue. After about a half hour of her massage technique I could feel my shoulders relaxed. Relaxation came over my body and for the next 45 minutes I was so relaxed I must’ve fallen asleep. I waken to the cessation of a warm towel cleaning the oil off my back. I handed the massage technician a gratuity to express my satisfaction with her work. I definitely will be returning to mesa spa.

Very unprofessional, they make you pay first and charge more for using a card. After paying and including a very modest tip, and telling them that I would tip more if I was pleased with the massage(unsuccessfully, as they don’t speak much English) I went in and laid down. A few minutes later a woman came in with my receipt and a pen and told me she wanted more of a tip. I proceeded to tell her that tipping is done after services are rendered and based on performance. She didn’t understand of course and proceeded to tell me in broken English about other customers that have given much better tips. I continued to shake my head, shocked, with a smile on my face at the nerve of this woman as she repeatedly told me to put 10 dollars on the receipt(for a $ 20, 30 minute massage). This went on for about 2 or 3 minutes as she shoved the receipt in my face saying«10 dolla, 10 dolla!». Finally, I conceded to tipping a bit more and put $ 7 down on the receipt in order to pacify her. Of course she still wanted more but I shook my head and put it down in the pillow. Despite her obvious unhappiness, she still gave a decent massage, although I wasn’t very relaxed when I left due to being called a cheapskate, in so many words. If you want decent tips, don’t charge the customer beforehand. Thinking back, I probably should have asked for a refund and walked out before getting the massage. No wonder the place is empty when you walk in.

First they make you pay before. Not cool. Charged me $ 2 for use of credit card. Then massage was just ok. But at the end. I was already giving Wendy 20% and she wanted more tip. umm so I bumped up a couple bucks and she said«more?» I said no. You cannot ask that. She said.“was I not good”!? and she said«I ask you if you like hard so that is more!» Haha I said no you can’t ask people for more tip. That’s illegal. And bad business and when I told her that she basically kicked me out! So basically $ 40 for an hour isn’t really that and I will never ever go back here again!!!

Mesa Spa is one of my top two favorite places to get a Foot Massage in San Diego. Cindy gives a better massage than the fancy resorts I have been too – firm, but not too hard. I like the«combination foot/body massage». The prices are incredibly reasonable, so I try to tip well. Best thing to do is to try a few different people and and when you find someone whose style fits best with what you like, just request them. They are very nice and friendly.

This place is the ABSOLUTEWORST!!! I call an hour in advance to schedule an appointment. I get there and after a 35 min wait am informed that they are short staffed and are waiting for someone to get there to attend to the service I paid for. In the meantime the receptionist comes in to give a puss poor lackluster massage and stops every 5 seconds to go and talk to people in the front. Needless to say, literally after a 55 minute wait, the person that was scheduled to provide the massage never showed up. In addition, their rooms are cold, the receptionist’s hands were cold, the place reeked of urine and, I never received my massage. When deciding to leave and get a full refund the staff attempted to argue with me for a good $ 20 minutes as to why I should only get half off. THEYDIDN’T GIVE A MASSAGE! WHYONLYHALF??? By the way, they make you pay even before rendering services! This place is a hole in the wall nightmare! Do not go here EVER! Staff are absolutely unprofessional and absurd!!!

OMG, not at all what I expected for $ 20 — foot and body combo. The ladies were sweet, friendly and did a great job. I did buy the buy 5 get 1 free deal, after the massage in so glad I did.

I am a massage junkie but it’s been a good 7 months since I had one. I found the coupon ad in the reader for the combo foot and body massage for $ 20 and my husband and I went in after seeing decent Unilocal reviews. I’ve been to about 10 massage places in SD and this is my new one! Cheap and quality. The facility is clean and well maintained, a big surprise for the price. The staff is very friendly with decent English and can communicate great. They are very accommodating. Seems like they are happy, very smily and attentive. Happy to do their work. Cindy was awesome. She is intuitive with her fingers and very happy with a $ 7 tip. After reading reviews apparently a lot of masseuses at other places complain and pressure you into tipping $ 15 – 20. But not here, Cindy has an attitude of gratitude. I really liked the massage too, it seemed like she really cared about the wellbeing of my muscles and my body, i felt taken care of. I’ll be recommending it to my friends and bringing a couple in the future. I’ll be back next week!

I went to this location with my husband and we both received the 90 min foot and body combo. I thought the massage was nice but could have been better. They started in a large room that was pretty open. B/C they speak little English it was impossible to tell them what you wanted. She did have translation app which was nice. The harassment regarding the tip sealed the deal and I will not be returning again. They practically followed me out the door. I also felt that her rubbing in my genital area was not cool.

I love going to Mesa Spa! All of the girls give amazing massages! I started going to Mesa Spa due to an ankle injury. I probably go once or twice a week, & the massages really help with the pain. It’s $ 20 for a hour foot massage! Such a great price for a relaxing massage. It definitely helps to relieve stress, & I tell all my friends to go here!

I was thrown back paying and tipping up front. I didn’t get asked to leave a larger tip. The girl was really friendly however, the massage was more of a oil rub down. I’d visit again considering so close to my house.

So, I have read the reviews and there are so many complaints about a $ 20 tip. Ummmm, it’s $ 40 for a full hour. Totalling $ 60. Big deal! I went, had an awesome massage and tipped even MORE than $ 20. It was quiet and relaxing and I felt wonderful after it was done. The place isn’t crowded so I felt like I was taken care of. Unlike large massage chains, they don’t get you all nice and relaxed and bring in the closer afterwards to sign up for a monthly fee. I went in, paid my money, got a good massage, tipped and left feeling satisfied. I’m not giving it five stars because it obviously wasn’t the best massage ever due to my feet were neglected on both visits. Maybe I’m supposed to ask for that or maybe it’s extra. I don’t know. This is a hard job and I have no problem paying a whopping $ 60 to get rubbed down with oil by a stranger who can get the kinks out of my neck. It’s actually a sweet arrangement if you ask me. «Hey lady. Can I get naked on this bed while you massage me with oil for an hour and I only have to pay $ 60?» I think I’m getting the better end of this deal. I will be returning.

If you speak Chinese, you will have a better experience. The«ladies» who work here have such limited ability to speak English that it’s almost impossible to determine what they are saying. I was told to get off of a sheet but it took about 4 minutes of «what?» to determine what was being requested. I didn’t feel the massage was from a person who was knowledgeable about massage. I did get a rubdown with oil but I get a better massage at the Swap Meet. Don’t pay with a card or your will be asked to leave a tip before you even get a massage. I was told that«It’s not enough» after a 15% tip was added. lol There are much better massages around. I have tried to support this local business twice not but not again. Oh. the song«Paradise» by Phil Collins was playing(instrumental version with an Asian sound added) played over and over 18 times. OMG

This place is horrible. I came in cause I had a kinked neck and I asked for a 20min neck & upper traps massage, and the masseuse didn’t massage my neck after I asked her to… She said«I’m all done, next time» Then she hassled me for a bigger tip. Believe me there WONTBE A ‘NEXTTIME’!!!

You get what you pay for is a good expression for this place. I don’t believe these people are certified massage therapists. No English, you have to ask for a towel to cover yourself, rooms are cold and quiet, you don’t get asked how is your massage. My session was interrupted three times when a new customer entered with the door left open and my naked body exposed. I was also reminded to leave a tip. Do not recommend this place at all.

First yes… they will hound you for the $ 20 dollar tip! but thats what it is… so you pay $ 40 for a hour and $ 20 for a tip(any more and I’d have to ask for some sucky sucky with that! LOL) The massage is good… the more you go the better it gets! The learn more you have to learn to communicate with them tell them what you want exactly! over all good visit I will be back. Lilly is a good choice!

As she massaged me, I felt like my body was like water, or a river flow with ripples on my back! It was VERYHEALING and HEALTHY. It was calming and satisfying! I AMDEFINITELYCOMINGBACK!!!

Good value for money, until the«hustle» at the end. A $ 20 tip is what I have to pay? I happily pulled out $ 15, and she said I need to pay another $ 5. Thats a 50% tip! Very little english spoken here. Even the front desk person only knows«1 hour 40 dollar» and can’t answer anything other than that.

I’m really impressed! Very relaxing and professional environment. Honestly the best pricing I have seen in San Diego.
