The food was amazing. We had surf and turf fries, chicken enchiladas, and a shrimp burrito. The atmosphere was nice and it was clean.

Total hidden gem. The food is top notch and cilantro/lime salsa is uniquely delicious! Their vegetarian options are amazing as well. I can never finish my burrito.

This past weekend was my first visit to this taco shop. Friendly staff, parking was great, and lots of seating available. I ordered the rolled tacos which arrived alot later than the rest of my family’s order. They were done eating before I sat down with my plate. When it comes to Mexican food, there’s no way to mess up rolled tacos unless you leave out the spices. The shredded beef lacked flavor but there was a good amount of salsa fresca on the side. I always give people 3 strikes. Hopefully next time they’ll hit it out of the ballpark.

I eat here every once in a while. Today I came by to get a soda and chips as a snack. They heated up my chips and put them on a plate. The chips came with a live ant on the plate. Makes me wonder about the kitchen. They gave me a refund and apologized.

Right off the bat, this place was not making the best of impressions. A pungent Pine Sol-esque smell permeated through the place upon entry. The sticky floor I encountered, as I walked up to order, only confirmed my thought that they used too much cleaner and not enough water. I was greeted with a smile and a good morning after I arrived at the counter. The young lady seemed sincere. I quickly scanned the menu. It was breakfast time, but I was happy to find out they serve everything on the menu. I went with the Surf N Turf burrito because: 1) I was hungry and didn’t feel like a breakfast burrito, 2) it’s usually a safe choice(I mean how hard is it to mess up carne asada and shrimp), and 3) reviewers seemed to like it. My food came out in timely fashion. The burrito was ginormous and could easily be portioned to make two meals. The smell of the cleaner was bothering me, but I wanted to be positive so I thought, well at least they cleaned their floor. Back to the burrito. With my first bite, I noticed that the carne asada and shrimp didn’t taste very fresh. The sauce(and/or melted sour cream?) came spilling out of the burrito and although tolerable, it wasn’t appealing. About one third or less into the burrito, I encountered a shrimp that tasted undercooked or old(or both) and had to clear my mouth into a napkin. I finished my burrito… by tossing it. I was done with breakfast because I no longer had an appetite. I really wanted to like this place, but the stars were not aligned. I might give this place another chance… maybe they had an off day, but there are so many good Mexican eats in San Diego, there is a slim chance I’ll be back. 2⁄5 — Surf N Turf Burrito 1⁄5 — Smell of floor cleaner 4⁄5 — Cleanliness 4⁄5 — Service 2⁄5 — Overall

Best Mexican food that I have ever had! I had the beef chimichanga and it did not let me down. It was so good that I didn’t even need to use hot sauce! Other chimichangas are usually greasy and this was not even close to greasy, but still crunchy.

Stopped in for a quick lunch with a friend of mine. I had the cheese enchiladas and some«roll up tacos» aka toquitos. They were delicious. Definitely my go to spot for lunch after the dog park!

Had their carne asada fries and it was just blah… no seasoning, no spice. Disappointing. :/I could probably make it better myself.

Their burritos are freaaaaking huge. Their surf and turf was a bit too much but i would say its well worth the money. The burrito has different veggies in it too. The restaurant is really big and has a lot of tables too! Tried the fuente fries. they use nacho cheese so didnt really like it so will probably get different fries next time!

Tonight is the first time we went here and our food was delicious! We got carne asada fries(with nacho cheese!!! My fave!!) and Cali burritos. The lady who took our order understood English and spoke it well, which was a pleasant surprise. One time we tried to order carne asada fries with nacho cheese from a different restaurant but when we got home to eat it, it turned out instead that we got a carne asada burrito and plain nachos(just chips and cheese). It was upsetting. We barely had to wait at all for our food so that was nice, too. There is plenty of dine-in seating for those who want to eat inside the restaurant. And it’s clean! Will definitely be eating here often.

I got a Surf and Turf burrito. ¼ of the way through I realized there was no shrimp in it. I immediately called and they told me to bring it back for a replacement. When I went back a few minutes later they took the burrito from me. It was brought back to me unrolled and with 4 pieces of shrimp at the bottom. Hmmmmm… Either you guys decided to be super cheap on shrimp for the day OR next time you should just admit you screwed up the order instead of adding 4 shrimp to prove the customer wrong. Come on bros. I wasn’t even complaining I just wanted what I ordered. Bummer because the surf and turf burrito is actually amazing here when they don’t mess up your order. I had just eaten it the day before and I was soooo excited to have it again! I will definitely pass on coming back. Burrito shops are a dime a dozen in San Diego so it’s no loss for me.

This place is really good – not real fancy, but awfully good food. It has a rather large menu behind the counter and some specials on a chalkboard on the floor. We came twice and both times I had the taco and enchilada combo. The meat in the taco is shredded beef, not hamburger. The shell is crispy and homemade. The salsa bar offers carrots, cukes and onions, as well as salsa. They do not serve free chips and salsa like Im used to in Texas which is a bummer, for sure. The guac is more a sauce than true guacamole. The interior is nice and clean and there was never a wait. Alot of people seem to order take out. The cooler keeps the assorted drinks nice and frosty. The prices were very reasonable. Try it out – you’ll be happy you did.

I stopped in the La Fuente after an Elite event nearby for a bowl albondigas soup. The bowl came with a side of corn or flour tortillas, and I went for the corn. The bowl of soup cost $ 7 and some change. They first brought me the wrong soup, menudo, so they made up for it by giving me a small plate of guacamole, pico, and some corn tortilla chips. It was very nice of them and the guacamole was very good, the pico de gallo decent, and the tortilla chips crispy and had good flavor. The albondigas soup as a whole were okay. I have certainly have had better, but this bowl was decent. The soup broth was lighter than most and the rice filled meatballs were of good size. They had a good ratio of rice to beef, but for some reasoned they were very dense and the plastic spoon I used, had a difficult time cutting through them to cut them into reasonable pieces for eating. Their flavor was good, but I would of appreciated if they were more tender. The soup came with tender vegetables and potatoes, but there was something missing. Then I quickly realized it was the extra rice they usually serve on the side along with the chopped cilantro and onions. I usually pour the rice into the soup. The corn tortilla came tightly wrapped in foil, hence they were piping hot and great for dunking in the soup and with the meatballs. The young lady at the counter was awesome. I can’t blame her for the hiccups in the kitchen, but I can give her kudos for the super friendly service and having the sense to give me something to munch on, while I waited longer for my soup to arrive after the mess up in the back of the house. Oh yes, this is a larger Mexican eatery.

I was originally introduced to this place by one of my classmates since we both live in Serra Mesa. This place leaves me in awe. The food is HUGE and delicious! The prices are amazing, too. Me and my fiancé came here and got two humongous burritos that we couldn’t finish for less than $ 20. Which is AWESOME because we buy burritos from Vallarta Express or Super Sergio’s for the same price(if not more!) and are still hungry. This place will have me hooked for as long as I live in the area. The staff is nice too, you just have to make sure you can pick what you want fast, or you already know what you want. Their menu is huge so if you’re anything like me, you’ll be standing there for quite some time before you zone in on exactly what you’re craving. Would definitely recommend :)

They were pretty busy during lunchtime which is a good sign but they took inordinately long with my simple order, which made me think they may have forgotten about it until I asked one of the servers to check on my order. Aside from that, their salmon tacos were delicious! Salmon was well seasoned and perfectly grilled, generously portioned and was served with a dollop of yummy white sauce and cabbage. Tortillas were thick and soft too. The salsa bar had a nice variety of sauces and pickled veggies as well. Large space and looked pretty clean.

Decent Mexican food down the street from the Four Points by Sheraton. I came here desperately craving Mexican food for my short stay in SD. Without a car, I was thankful that this place is walking distance from my hotel and was able to satisfy my needs. I noticed this place caters to the those who work nearby or at the airport or live at the apartment across the street. First impressions: I was extremely impressed by the cleanliness of the place… even the bathroom is well-kept! The servings are HUGE and BOUNTIFUL especially the shrimp ceviche tostada. Shrimp after shrimp, they were generous in the servings.

Ordered a torta and it was pretty tasty. Only problem is that it had beans, right next to the bread, which made it quite soggy. And we were eating there(not like I took it home). So I just ate the filling(which was yummy) and part of the top portion of the bread. My husband had a combo plate with cheese enchiladas, which was very good. Service was friendly and quick. I’ll go back… and just ask for the beans on the side(if I remember)

Called in an order of carne asada fries. They were very prompt and had my order ready when I arrived. When I got home and opened the box I was a little turned off because the meat on the fries was gray. Just grosses me out. I’ve never seen carne that gray in color. They could have at least hid the dis colored meat under the other toppings but nope it was right on top. I still ate the fries because I was hungry but did not eat the meat. I instead gave it to my dog and she seemed to enjoy it. Everything else about the fries were great: large portion, smothered in sour cream, pico, cheese, and guac.

My son has tawkwondo practice right around the corner. We are always looking for our next go to spot that is near our home. Shrimp burritos are his thing. Trying to stay away from carbs and not succeeding is mine. My son had the surf and turf burrito and loved it. I thought it was too soggy. He disagreed. The salad I had was amazing and huge. They also had a good salsa bar. The food was fast and affordable. The people working were nice. At one point I was asking for a to go box and the lady kept chatting it up with some guy that worked there. But I didn’t take that as rude. I will be back!

So my friends and I were at the hooka lounge next door and were looking for something to eat. We strolled in half expecting this place to be like any other mexican taco shop, I was wrong. Mind you, I dont usually go around the serra mesa area for mexican food. There were so many things to order I was overwhelmed how many choices I had! However, if you’re indecisive like I am they have pictures on their menus for their top items as well listed specialties, new menu items and items of the day. They also serve beer at this place so how awesome is that?(For the 21+) I was impressed because there were many tables, it was really clean and there were even cute flower pots on each table to give it a nice ambiance. I mean this was only a mexican fast food joint. My friends and I ordered a couple of different items. The only negative I would say is that the chorizo burrito was different than other places becaude it was sweet. Other than that the seafood items are amazing and be what you should order if you go. Highly recommend: if you like seafood, Surf and turf Anything/Any dish with seafood. Big portions and theyre not stingy.
