I came in with very curly hair where I was going natural and this is what left out with. Absolutely amazing. I will definitely be adopting Latanya and Candace as my permanent hair stylist. My daughter and I have found our new stylist Melissa! She is professional and both of our hair is perfection. My daughter has cornrows with twist. I have my natural hair straightened. Worth the 45 min drive!

Finally a black hair salon! I have been living in SD for two years and have found a place to get my hair done when needed. My hair was done by Candace. I she did a deep treatment, wash, blow dry, flat iron and trim. Yes it all was needed!
She handled my hair very well and made good product suggestions for keeping my hair moisturized. She asked questions about how I normally wore my hair, how I put my hair up at night, and the products I already use. She also suited my concern by using a light/​non-​fragrant deep conditioner, that did not irritate my sensitive scalp. This was a huge plus for me!
Overall my experience was good! I saw good results with my hair, Price is very reasonable for me. Only thing is the location. If you have a car, then you are good, but for those of us that do not. it can be a little more effort to getting our hair done.

Melissa truly takes care and pride in her work I have had some horrible experiences with stylist in the past, but Melissa not only makes me feel right at home but treats/​styles my hair so amazing to the point where hair care is very evident in her finish product! Thank you!

I had a fantastic experience with Melissa! She got me in on short notice, gave me a wonderful hair cut, put in partial cornrows and to top it all off styled it wonderfully! Absolutely amazing!

This place was very nice and professional, clean and it had a nice vibe. I was taken care of by Melissa she did a sew in. You could pick up that she knew what she was doing, very confident. Her braids were nice and neat and not tight which was perfect. If I was staying out here in SD I would go back. Oh and there was an older woman that did my eyebrows she was very sweet.

I absolutely love this salon, they take good care of my daughters hair. Candace is amazing, she is so sweet and friendly, she does a wonderful job. My daughter was really self conscious about her hair when we first went in, but i notice a big difference in the health of her hair and her confidence coming back up. I definitely recommend this salon and Candace. I wont go anywhere else! Thank you Candace and Premier 1 on 1!

I had a hair emergency and Candace was able to see me on very short notice. She saved my hair! She was very helpful with haircare tips along with the rest of the staff. Thanks again Candace!

The customer service and my hair I thought was not going to be great WELP I was proven wrong they are more than nice and I love my hair and the advice I was and will continue to be given as this is not my last time writing about premier or going there to see Michelle or latanya. Thank you guys I feel brand new see you guys soon.

This is a review for Melissa, one of the new hairdressers at this salon. She does braids and weaves and in this particular case she did braids on my daughter’s hair-​cornrows with hair added in-​so she could go swimming and be carefree while out of town.
The reason I felt the need to post a review is because this lady was able to wash and blow dry my kid’s hair with no tears or screaming. That’s a miracle because at home she acts like I’m killing her! My daughter said it’s the blow dryer. Ok.
Anyway, the braids turned out great (didn’t think to get a pic) and my kid left happy. We will gladly be back for Melissa to braid up Miss Monet’s hair again. Maybe even blowouts and flat irons since she’s so gentle and I’m such a beast! ;-))

Dianne is a great stylist. Since I have been going to Dianne, my hair has started to grow back. Finally, my hair is healthy and beautiful again. She is extremely patient and answers all of my hair questions. Dianne has a kind heart and spirit. I truly enjoy having Dianne as my hairstylist.

MARY IS AWESOME! My stylist had a family emergency and had to cancel. I was left with no extension in my hair and felt bald! I went in for a consultation and Mary was able to accommodate me. Being a hairstylist myself I’m extremely picky with my stylist but Mary made me feel confident in her knowledge in extensions. She did an awesome job and is just a lovely person. Thank you Mary! =)

Today was my first visit at this Salon. Diane was awesome! She not only provided a fabulous cut but she educated on the upkeep as well. I will return to this salon.

Tried to book appointment with LaTanya (specifically) for my bf and was passed off to another hair stylist. Guess she doesn’t need the business. Oh well.

My first visit to this salon and I really liked it! LaTanya was very professional and very nice! I was eager to take my sew-​in out and even though LaTanya was booked the day I came in, another stylist, Diane, was available. Diane was also professional and very nice! They both gave me great tips and advice for my hair and both seemed interested to getting my hair back healthy. Diane did a great job on my hair and I’m very satisfied, so, so far so good.

I’m just here visiting San Diego and decided I wanted to go from my dark brown hair to blonde! I have natural very curly hair and needed to find a place I could trust to do it in a healthy way so my hair wasn’t damaged. The first salon I went to turned me down because they didn’t know how to work with hair. Their loss! And thank god because I found premier 1 on 1 and am so happy I did. They were very friendly and brought me to a beautiful blonde in the most healthy way possible. I would like to thank the salon so much for caring about my hair and making me look like Beyoncé !!! Hair flip. Thank you so much!

Talk about a review that is WAAAAY overdue!!! I found LaTanya on Unilocal,so I feel it’s only right that I return the favor.
Simply put LaTayna’s hands are magical. When I first started getting my hair done by her, I came in only focused on getting my chin-​length natural hair colored. But LaTanya took her time to examine my hair and recommend that we care for it first so the color would damage my dried out tresses. I’m glad I listened. That first day, I walked out of the salon swinging my hair like Beyonce! My hair was soft, full and healthy looking.
I didn’t think she could impress me more… then she colored my hair. As a color virgin I was nervous but trusted that I was in good hands. Boy, did I underestimate how well LaTanya knows her color. I showed her a few pictures and told her to do her thing. You can see from the pictures she did the damn thing alright!
The other thing about LaTanya that is so great is that she doesn’t just want to make sure your hair looks nice, she really wants to make sure your hair healthy. She empowers you with information and tools to keep your hair well cared for in between visits. Granted I can never get it to look as amazing as she does, but I’ve been going to her for less than 6 months and my hair has grown at least an inch. And my hair has NEVER grown that fast.
I can’t stress enough if you are looking for a talented — scratch that, gifted — stylist look no further!

Wrote this review so long ago but somehow never got posted to this shops page. Lived in SD for over a year and heard lots of great things about this salon but never went because I honestly felt the prices were too steep. Not going to lie I’m cheap but my birthday came around and I decided to treat myself. A month prior I had cut all my hair off after years of heat damage and had a cute little fro, despite that I was missing the straight hair and thought if I went to a professional I could avoid heat damage and my hair would get proper care. WRONG!!!
I went on my birthday and got my hair done by Teri. I have extremely soft hair and the whole time she kept commenting how nice it was. I asked her to flat iron it and let her know my concerns about heat damage. She assured me my hair would curl right back up when washed and would not be damaged, WRONG again!
I should have know because the first red flag was the burnt smell as she was doing my hair, I tried not to panic and dismissed it. Can’t recall if it was a day or two later but I got tired of my straight hair and decided to wash it so I could rock my fro. My hair wouldn’t curl at all when I washed it, it was limp and had this awful smell. I called her up the next day and she informed me that she did a hard press, not sure why she did that!!! A hard press uses more heat and I said I DID NOT want heat damage. Plus my hair is super soft and doesn’t require excessive amounts of heat. She then told me to come by the salon and she’d fix it.
This was her idea of a fix, washing my hair, putting some product in it and scrunching my hair up with her fingers in an attempt to make it curl. She then told me to give it a month and my curls SHOULD return. It is now June and my hair is still bone straight, my new growth is the only curl I have. I’m so upset about it and regret even going to get my hair done. In addition the price jumped from $ 40 when I first made the appointment to $ 65 after she was done. I absolutely hate when stylists don’t make clients aware of all the charges, it’s misleading. I can’t speak on the other stylists but if you have natural hair and want to keep your curls think twice.

I know I’m biased, but I’m being honest about it from the beginning. You’ve been warned, so do what you will with that information.
I love LaTanya. I’ve been coming to her for all my hair-​styling needs for years and years (and years!) now. Shoot, I used to fly in from out of state, just to get my hair cut and colored by her! True story!
She’s seen me through the many stages of my hair — from long to short, from my natural color to blonde and blonde-​ish and browns and chocolates — and she’s never steered me wrong in any suggestions.
I often come in saying, «LaTanya, I just want to chop it all off!» and she’ll talk me off the ledge, suggesting different things that we can do to make me love my hair again. I’ve also said things like, «I want red highlights. Let’s do it!» and instead of just shrugging and putting the color in my hair, she’s been honest in telling me that it’d be a waste of money, that it would just fade out quickly and disappear before I even noticed it.
The only thing that I hate is that I can NEVER make my hair look as pretty as LaTanya does! When I stand up out of her chair, my hair is perfectly styled, looking good enough to photograph, and even though I’m always happy and in awe of what she did, there’s that small voice at the back of my head that says, «You’ll never be able to make it look like this yourself!»
Okay, the voice isn’t small. It isn’t in the back of my head. I always tell her that I have NO chance of making my hair look that pretty ever again. I just need her to do house-​calls, so that my hair looks as fabulous as the minute I walk out of her shop every day!
Her prices are fair, and she’s a genuinely wonderful person. She’ll work with you on your vision, and make you more gorgeous than you already were when you walked in.
