Okay, so I hate writing bad reviews on service-​oriented places until I’ve given them a fair shot. I’ve been to this EWC location on two separate occasions with two different waxing specialists. Ironically, I had my waxing done by two people that were highly recommended in multiple Unilocal reviews for this location, but the reviews weren’t that accurate.
Apparently, my girl at the EWC in Point Loma (Laning Rd– see my review for deets) spoiled me because she truly makes the experience as painless and fast as possible. She still gets all the hair and does it all while we enjoy an amazing conversation (somehow in the midst of awkwardness).
On the two occasions I was here, both of the waxers apparently learned a different technique that involves pulling the wax incredibly slow so you feel hair plucked from each and every follicle. The other flaw in their technique is messiness– I’ve never felt so many stray spindles of wax on my face. The wax was applied pretty haphazardly to the areas– which felt kind of gross. The waxers would let one area dry for a while before pulling it off super slowly. One of these women even waxed repeatedly on the same area to get some of the stubborn hairs on my face off– which irritated it noticeably. I’ve never had redness after a wax at EWC in my two years of using their centers, except here. And redness can happen– it just never happens to me unless you really irritate my skin.
So the 3 stars they get are for the convenience of the location and the kindness of the ladies waxing me. They were truly kind individuals– I just would never trust them down under if it hurt as much as it did up top.
Also, this place also needs to work on its reception waiting period. Laning Rd location has my business on lock– never cheating again.

Customer service here is really great! The ladies here are helpful and very personable. I enjoy the conversations with them!
I will say two out of the 3 times I’ve been here, my esthetician was running 10 – 15 minutes behind schedule. (Hence the 3 starts) I am a very timely person and plan my weekends out to the T!

Rebcca is amazing at her job and the only one i will ever trust to do my eyebrows now! she shapes them perfectly each time and has a wonderful personality when waxing, not to mention very professional. Rebecca is very thorough when asking my shape preference to make sure i leave the store happy with the outcome. ive gone to her for eyebrows, upper lip, and full legs and will continue to use Rebecca. Thank you, i cant wait for my next visit!

Awesome facility and friendly staff! Rebecca is super talented and very professional. I just went in for a standard eyebrow wax and didn’t even realize how many techniques there are! Every time I’ve gotten my brows done in the past, the waxer has just simply plucked the stray hairs and waxed the middle without asking any questions. Rebecca however, took the process to the next level by asking me specific questions about how I wanted my brows styled! Color/​shape/​shading/​thickness were just a few of the things she explained to me, but she did a fantastic job and I love my brows more than ever! I’ve been back to her twice already and will continue to do so. Thanks Rebecca!

I was really impressed at first, really clean and everyone was very nice! But after paying an extra $ 25 after what I was originally told I was going to pay, I get home to see so much hair still left behind in large patches! Also, wax was stuck all over my body because no ointment was put on after the wax and left behind large chunks of wax! Which was not fun trying to get off my clothes! I just don’t understand how they can leave so many patches of hair behind, as if my wax lady wasn’t even paying attention. I was very disappointed after my experience.

I’ve been to a couple different locations of this business in LA and was glad this one opened close to my place. I had Brandy for my waxing services and she was really personable and did a great job!

Being single means serious upkeep. Sometimes I need a last minute wax and immediate availability. I waltzed into the new EWC in Mission Valley and was really pleased. They were able to get me right in.
My wax specialist was Kourtny (that’s how you spell it, seriously… I read her name tag) She was mellow and easy to talk to and did a great job. It was refreshing to finally go to a wax center that the esthetician doesn’t leave the room to let you undress before a brazilian. I never understood why they don’t just stay in there. Considering you let them wax your ass, can’t you take your clothes off with them in the room?
The signature hard wax used at EWC is super gentle and almost painless. Aside from having some wax residue — it did the job well. Part of the culture at EWC is that they definitely try to sell the package deals — which are pretty decent if you’re looking to save a buck and find a wax specialist you want to keep.
I will certainly keep them in my speed dial. Awesome hours, service and convenience. Thanks EWC.

I love European Wax Center! I always have a great experience there and Nicole is just wonderful! She is quick and professional, which is so important when waxing more sensitive areas. She has such a sweet fun personality, I will definitely be back to see her.

Awesome place! Brand new store and very clean and professional atmosphere. I went in to get my back waxed and had the pleasure of getting Jessica who was not only very friendly and professional, but she took the time to double check and make sure that there were absolutely no stragglers (hairs) left. The best part was the wax they use hurt much less than previous places I have been. My back will definitely be back!

As a regular client at European Wax Center in Clairemont, I was expecting the same great, fast and professional treatment from this location. Sadly, it became the worst wax treatment experience of my life. The wax was too hot, and the technician had very poor technique which left me not only with at least 30 percent of very large and noticeable patches of hair (I ordered a full Brazilian), but also so many clumps of wax in very hard to reach places. It took me 45 minutes to manually remove the left over hairs and sticky, purple wax clumps. She didn’t even wipe the waxed area after she had finished. Just terrible. She spoke excessive about her boyfriend and not enjoying her job. She created a tear in a very delicate area of skin on my body. The treatment took almost 45 minutes as opposed to the usual 15 minutes, which badly delayed my schedule. Perhaps more training for the aestheticians, as this service was very evidently amateur. I will not be returning to this location, which is quite disappointing as I really enjoyed this company before this experience.

This store is located at Westfield Mission Valley. I was walking through the mall one night and several of their reps were standing outside trying to bring in customers.

I have been to other locations. And since I was walking by this one and they had immediate openings. I needed to take care of the bushy catepillar eyebrows that I had on my forehead. Okay… maybe they weren’t that catepillar like… but it felt like it to me!
Friendly service. I really like the wax that they use here. It is quality wax that doesnt not sting as much and does not turn my eye region all red for hours.
They have an option to make your reservations online or on a mobile app. The pricing is fair… about $ 20 for brows.

Courtney was the sweetest esthetician I’ve ever had. She did a phenomenal Brazilian and made me feel so comfortable. We laughed the whole time, I’ll be back to see her.

I normally don’t give 5 stars but I gotta say… This place is amaze balls! I have been to two other European Wax Centers while I travel for work and the last trip made me not want to return to one ever again. I decided to give it a try since 1) it’s close to where I live and 2) who doesn’t love FREE? The place is very clean and appealing to the eye. I got a complimentary Brazilian from Nicole. Nicole was very professional and made me feel comfortable during the waxing process. The front desk was very efficient and extremely nice. I am definitely coming back! These ladies rock!

Claudia was INCREDIBLE! Took me earlier than my scheduled appointment and walked me through the process. Will definitely be back.

Was at the center today for the opening, and got eyebrows and full arms waxed, complimentary. My waxer, Nicole, was SO sweet! She did an excellent job. I’d definitely recommend going to her and I’ll definitely be back!
