Eh. If there was another store that sold what I needed I’d never go here again.
It’s so hit and miss with the employees. Sometimes they’re really helpful and other times they stare at you like they have no idea what’s going on.
Most of the time they just stand there and gossip. I’m sorry you’re bored navy wives, but have some pride or quit.

I have been going here for OPI nail polish for years. I went in today, and the 2 employees were standing by the door, chatting. They said «hello» and «nail polish is buy on get on 50% off.» I continued to look after thanking them, and then one of the ladies said to the other «buy some or get out.» I could not believe an employee would say this, so I took my business else where.

Stopped in today for a new flat iron. I wish I had got the girls name that helped me. She was extremely insightful as to the products I was inquiring about. I decided on an Amika flat iron. Which she herself had said she used at home. What better way to promote a product than with testimony.
When it came time for check out she had said since I was spending more than $ 100 with the tax on my product I would receive $ 10 off. Score! Then as I was leaving she said I could pick out a couple discontinued nail polishes from OPI and China Glaze. Definitely left the store a happy customer.

Customer service reps are very friendly and helpful and answered my every question.

I stopped shopping here a long time ago because of the rudeness of the manager but heard that she was gone so I decided to return. I am glad I did. Both times that I have come back, the girls were sooo helpful. Hats off to Marina and Melissa for changing the atmosphere in that store. It’s about time.

As with the others, I am in agreement when it comes to the manager at this particular location, she has also been rude to me, and I believe that her customer service skills have a lot to be desired; but, today, I am not writing about her.
Due to the lack of stars, I wanted to let everyone know about Denise, the hair stylist at this Empire location, she is the best !! She is very knowledgeable about hair and will assist you with whatever it is you wish, and will give you «honest» input — many beauty salon stylists will not do this whereas Denise will. She has fantastic prices for the Brazilian Blowout and is not in a rush when this is done. She also has many, many years experience in hair styling and I’d rather go to her than someone fresh out of cosmetology school. She can make recommendations, as well, when it comes to choosing appropriate styling products for your hair type. If you are looking for a great hairstylist, look no further than Denise. I have been a customer of hers for quite some time now and am very pleased with my results, everytime…

Wow, unfortunately I must agree with some of the other reviews on here. The service at this particular Empire Beauty Supply is absolutely awful. The store manager completely ignored me when I walked in the store, as she was too busy chit chatting on her cell phone to greet me. I had a question about a particular product and she seemed very snippy because I was «interrupting» her 15 minute phone call (I could hear her laughing on the phone while I was shopping). Thanks, but no thanks… I’ll take my business elsewhere.

TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT!!! rude rude rude! I can not believe how un-​welcome and rude the store manager was! I came in there in the afternoon with my 2 daughters. I am a liscenced cosmetologist who just needed to pick up a few odds and ends and being that im new to California went to the closest place to my house! Huge mistake! I was looking at all the color selection they had, some I wasnt familiar with being from FL, and kind of making a decision. My daughters were «counting the colors» on the shelves, as a 2 and 4 yr old would do to entertain themself. Neither one was taking them off the shelves or making a mess… simply counting the boxes. The elderly lady at the counter just scowled at me the entire time and kept nagging my kids, dont touch that, dont do that, dont look at that… I would glance to my side and they would be looking at a color brush, still on the shelf not even in there hand! Im like what is her problem so I told my daughters «dont touch» and I now felt like I had to hurry to make a selection because I, the customer, was a nuisance to her and not a potential sale. Final straw, she comes from behind the counter and yanks a product out of my 2 yr olds reach and says DO NOT TOUCH! Mind you she was looking! First of all, Im the parent I will scold my child not you! I said to her, that was quite rude, and she shrugged her shoulders and rolled her eyes and goes off on a tangent about a child getting product in there eye and its not a place for kids… Lady if you dont want kids in your store simply put a damn sign on the door, dont harrass me or my children! I told her I wouldnt spend a dime in her store and will be complaining to corporate about her terrible management practices!

Because I am often too lazy to drive to La Jolla to Ulta to get new Opi polish, I roll into here. They always have the latest colors. Downside is that they charge $ 8.50 a bottle instead of $ 7.50. But I figure with gas prices and the fact that I drive a car that on a good day gets 20mpg, I’m coming out ahead by staying in my hood.
As for the rest of the joint, it’s your basic beauty supply place. I’m sure that I will be coming here for more than Opi soon as my grey hairs seem to be multiplying by the second.
Oh and if you shop at the Albertson’s in the same shopping center, they have 10% off coupons on the back of the receipts. I never save my receipts so I don’t use these, but it’s good to know, right?
