I came here the other day with my boyfriend who isn’t a huge fan of Denny’s. We’ve been together 3 years and this was the first time we ate here together, lol. The Denny’s that I go to back home(Corona) isn’t bad and the waitresses are extremely nice and make you feel comfortable. With this in mind, I thought, this Denny’s shouldn’t be too bad… right? We waited so long for our food… we just got an omelette and a Santa Fe skillet. Okay, my skillet wasn’t even SIZZLING! The waitress gave it to me saying«be careful it’s hot», but I touched the skillet with my finger and could leave it on there for a few seconds without it hurting. I knew it was just sitting around in the kitchen… Another thing, the waitress asked me if I wanted toast with my skillet upon ordering. «What kind of toast would you like with that?» The toast does not come with it… why would you ask me if I want toast without saying it costs extra. Girl. c’mon. At least I was smart enough to question it because I know it didn’t specify on the menu item. Won’t be coming here again… Denny’s isn’t all that great anyway.

I would give this Denny’s less than a full star if I could. I think the most irritating thing about being anywhere whether it’s a restaurant, a retail store, or a hair salon is having your waitress/cashier/hair stylist try to make you unnecessarily add-on items that add to your bill by tricking you. I’ve noticed that when I’ve gone to 2 differently located Denny’s in San Diego, the waitresses are always attempting to trick my friend and I into upgrading fries, adding drinks, or adding other miscellaneous things on the side in a manner that makes it seem free. When I’m trying to enjoy a meal, I think it’s bad enough that the service is so poor and the wait for the oily, greasy food is so long. But for people to ruin the mood by making people uncomfortable with their scheming ways is just ridiculous. And to top it off, the slowness of their service is outstanding. We probably waited 20 minutes for an overpriced skillet and a sandwich that was drenched in oil while several employees were standing around eating themselves. Worst experience in absolute every single way. I would never wish such a horrid meal experience upon anyone. Eating here is like tossing your money into the garbage can and paying to be in a bad mood

Rude lady working by herself. I made a Togo order and she said she rather take care of the customers first where they most likely will tip her then have a Togo order. She made me wait 30minutes then rang up my order then I told her I’ll wait in my car and charge my phone while I wait for the food. And she said she doesn’t have time for that come when you please. This lady should not be working here. Older white lady working alone at 2:00 am. I just walked back in just now actually and asked if its ready and she said«maybe» «I can’t get it right now, maybe in a bit». I don’t write negative Unilocal reviews unless I have a terrible experience, and this morning was definitely the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. My husband, 9 year old and 2 year old Went to Denny’s this morning, waited for 10 minutes even though there were some empty tables. It’s okay, I completely understand, it’s the morning after a holiday. We were seated, took over 10 minutes for a waitress to come acknowledge us and take our drink/food order. Asked for a fruit cup for my toddler so that she could snack until our food arrived. Well, it took over 45 minutes for our food to come, even though the restaurant cleared out. Our toddler was beside herself, we tried entertaining her, but of course she was already over it. We walked out before our food came. I’ve never walked out of a restaurant in my life. I felt bad, but I was so completely done! My husband complained and said no one even cared that worked there. I asked him to call and talk to the manager. Honestly, like I said, I don’t write negative Unilocal reviews unless there is a really good reason for it.

Wanted something quick before work came into Denny’s and ask will how long it will take to get my food he replied 10 mins. We sat down only had 30 mins to eat and our food came out like he said in 10 mins. The service was great and so was the food. Will be back

Today i went to go have breakfast around 9 am was standing infront to get seated nobody was around to seat us 10 mins later we get seated we ordered our breakfast there was hardly any ppl there there was 3 other families in the restaurant so it wasnt that busy our waitress name was kahreena she hardly came to check if we needed anything she didnt give us straws until later we ended up getting our food an hr later very bad service i was very disapointed it also took another 20 mins to get our check im never coming back poor customer service

On Wednesday, August 5th, 2015 we went to Denny’s off of Clairemont Mesa Blvd. for dinner around 7 pm. During this time my 9 year old daughter brought her bubble gum pink Hello Kitty Bowling Bag purse and in it was her iPHONE 4S& my iPHONE 5S into the restaurant. While we had such a great time, unfortunately my daughter left her purse there my mistake. We didn’t realize it until the next morning. After calling the restaurant around 9 am on Thursday, Aug 6th, the very next day, I spoke with your manager, Ms. Maria Gomez in regards to the above manner. She understood the situation and stated she would call be back on my son’s phone as soon as she could see what happened to it. She called me back later that afternoon around 1 pm. She stated that she spoke to the waitress whom said yes they found the purse and she gave it to the night manager. Then proceed to state that it was put into the safe for 90 days until someone claims the property. I then stated that I will be there to come pick it up immediately. She said she needed 2 managers to open the safe and she would call me back once it was retrieved properly to be picked up. Hadn’t heard back from her so I then called again on Friday, August 7th at 9 am and spoke to Ms. Gomez again. She stated she is still waiting for the manager to open the safe. My husband then decided to go to the Denny’s to retrieve the purse. He was told by Ms. Gomez that the safe has not been opened yet as there were no other managers available to open the safe. Leaving frustrated knowing they have the purse, unfortunately for us we were leaving to go on a mini vacation that afternoon. I then called back around 3pm on Friday after, speaking to Ms. Gomez again letting her know that we will be out of town and that I will be there between 8 – 10 am on Monday, August 10th. She then reassured me that she will have the purse & phones by then & thanked me for being patient. Upon arriving on Monday around 9 am, Ms. Gomez stated that she still couldn’t open the safe because no manager was available. Now I know she’s lying to me or something really happened to the purse. Her demeanor & body language has clearly changed. She reassured me that she would get back to me later that afternoon. She never did. I then called back around 10 am on Tuesday, August 11th, and she stated and I quote«The purse was nowhere to be found and that we are going to check all the surveillance videos to see what happened to it from the safe and to see which employee stole it.» I was stunned by her comment. I absolutely feel now she has been giving me to total run around this whole time. I told her that I will be calling in the next few days to give her«time» to check the videos. I proceeded to be EXTREMELYPATIENT at this time but also knowing in my gut feeling I am not getting these items back. I had not called my phone carrier just yet due to the last ditch effort to get at least the phones back by Friday, August 14th. I had called on Friday around 9 am to be put on hold for over 20 minutes. Then hung up on. I called back. Hung up on. I called back and said the manager would call me back but to no avail. I now know I will not be getting my items back. Having to cool off from this situation, I then called on Monday, August 17th around 9 am and asked for Ms. Gomez. The Manager on duty answered my call by the name of Chris Fedwish(spell?). I asked for Ms. Gomez and he stated she had taken the day off and how could he help me. I explained in detail as to my situation & he seemed shocked. He stated he is sorry for what has happened and that this should have never occurred according to Denny’s policies. He further explained that he didn’t know anything about this and would look into it. He also stated too that your policy for customer’s «lost & found» is to hold the items for 90 days. If the items were never picked up then they throw them away. He also stated that they would never put anything into the safe even in my situation. He said that he would research and then get back to me. I was in a meeting on Tuesday, August 18th from 9am –12 pm. I noticed a call on my son’s cell phone from Denny’s at 9:37 am but no message was left. I proceeded to call Denny’s back and finally spoke to Chris. He proceeded to tell me what happened according to your surveillance videos: «Ms. Warren, I have reviewed all the surveillance videos and have spoken the employees involved. The videos shows the waitress giving the purse to the manager on duty that night. The purse was brought to the office and put between 2 trash cans on Wednesday night after you left. On Friday, the manager on duty gave it to an employee to «throw away» and we haven’t seen it since. What happened to your 90 day policy? I called my carrier and the phones were last used on Sunday Aug. 16th. I immediately blocked the phones. This letter goes on and was reported to the BBB, Consumer Affairs and Denny’s Corporate Complaints Dept.

The worst service my friend and I have ever had. we didnt have anyone come up to us after sitting down for 15mins. We had to go up to them to tell them to service us and even then they took another 5mins before they approached us to take our order. After waiting another 10mins with no sign of even the orange juices we ordered being given to us we asked how long was our order going to take. They told us at least another 10mins im never going here again

Took my nephew here on a rainy day and we enjoyed great brunch. The wait was not long and they are reasonable prices. You can never go wrong with Denny“s when you are on a budget. I liked our server and the location is perfect for shopping(Vons, TJ Maxx, Ross, Burlington, Bath & Body Works).

This is my second visit to this location and I’m unsure why the ratings are so low. The restaurant appears to have been recently upgraded and is clean and orderly inside. The staff are helpful and attentive and the food is tasty. My niece loves the chocolate chip pancakes!

Loved the new Skillet hot and spicy! Service from Erica was exceptional. Coffee cup was never more that half empty before she came with a pot to refill it. Restaurant appears newly remodeled and kept clean. Plenty of parking too. We will definitely return here!

This Denny’s is a very modern clean and friendly restaurant that my gal friend Linda and I love. Best pancakes in the world, plus they allow our small Kearny Mesa Kiwanis club meet weekly in there nice private back room. So this was kind of a busy Saturday morning… we went to the Denny’s on Kearny Mesa and it was just not cool to eat there. Dirty, messy and bad customer service. And I am not expecting much it’s a Denny’s. Yes Unilocalers, Hubbs LOVES Denny’s and sometimes I have to give into his needs as well… LOL *** This must be the hidden gem of all Denny’s in San Diego… It seems so spacious and so nice inside. From the moment Hubbs and I walked in, I knew we had made a mistake going to the other one. Lupe is the first person we met; she sat us down by the patio, now normally I don’t like sitting by the door, it distracting … however the breeze was very nice and refreshing each time it opened. Our waiter was named Tomas, and he was cordial and brought us coffee and creamer always. The door was no longer a distraction because every time I looked to my left I saw doggies!!! I was super happy because there were so many dogs out on the patio. So yes Unilocalers, this establishment is pet-friendly on the patio! Four dogs were out there, looking lovingly to their masters for food. Our friend surprised us, he saw our car and decided to come in and greet us. We invited him to dine with us and vowed to wait for him so we could all order and eat together. Hubbs and I ordered the pumpkin pancakes – which is the whole reason for going! YaY. **the bacon looked a little weird, however pancaked were great. It was a good visit and we left very full.

Let’s see if this Denny’s is really a 2.5 star restaurant… gulp. Hello, Value Menu all day! I ordered the Loaded Breakfast Sandwich for only $ 4 on the Value Menu, and it comes with tasty hash browns. Victor my helpful server let me sub whole grain toast for the English muffin, and I had Swiss cheese instead of American cheese. The sandwich also came with bacon and shaved ham. This restaurant is clean and full of comfty booths, and not busy at all since it’s afternoon. My server Victor is polite, helpful, and prompt. Coffee is a yucky cheap brand of coffee. Can’t drink it.)-; But it’s hot. I’ll sip at it. They made a fresh pot for me, but the Denny’s chain uses cheap coffee grounds. Hey what are y’all complaining about? My experience was just fine, and my meal was quick and under $ 7 including the drink, and tax! The ham in my breakfast sandwich was a cheap version of deli ham, but hey, that’s what I get for $ 4. It’s a fair value for the sammy. The yucky coffee is overpriced at $ 2.09, so next time I’ll see if they let me sneak in here with a McDonald’s coffee or a Starbucks coffee! I recommend this Denny’s location in the Clairemont town square if you’re on a budget and you want a comfty booth in a clean chain restaurant. Ask for a booth by the window. The section in the back near the bathrooms smells like a musty carpet. Yes there are more expensive meals here at Denny’s, but I’d go for the Value Menu. It’s a fine Denny’s, and they were attentive. Just don’t expect to be wowed.
