Five stars for service, negative one star for food. Ordered the bw Benny with runny eggs. Disgusting. First, hollandaise sauce tasted funky like from a mix(which was confirmed by the waitress). Eggs were hard. But here’s the deal breaker: the bacon was gross. Like it was steamed or something. Yuck. The waffle at the bottom seemed to be ok. Too bad it was covered with yuckiness. The waitress saw me picking at the food and offered to get me something else. So sweet. And later a manager came over and asked if he could help. But I was running late and the gross sauce and bacon had robbed my appetite. I did ask for a taste of the chipped beef. I am from philly and had it a lot. This was also gross and didn’t even taste as good as the stouffers frozen chipped beef. The place has true coffee shop vibes. Most people were digging into eggs and looking happy. I wanted to back and give it another try, but just couldn’t.

My friend lives close by here so we walked from her place. I know there is a small parking lot in the back but in order to sign up on the waiting list to be seated, you have to walk from the back to the front. I came here with two other friends on a rainy Sunday late morning. Our wait time was approximately 30 – 45 minutes which is very typical for a Sunday morning in La Jolla. I’ve been here a couple times before and have always appreciated their diner style counter and booths. It’s very much like the classic American diner joint. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful even with the restaurant being busy. She offered my friend to take some coffee to go for the day at no extra cost. I noticed that they have a lot of loyal local patrons come here to joke and converse with the employees which brought back some good memories from an old diner I grew up with back home. I ordered the Mediterranean Omelette with Hashbrowns and Rye Toast. I couldn’t pass up on pancakes or waffles, so I split the Oatmeal Pancakes served with Pecans and Blueberries with my friend. My Omelette was huge and filling, they definitely did not skimp out on any of their ingredients! The add ins were cut into bite sized pieces which was great because you get a piece of everything in one bite. The toast and hashbrowns were crispy and yummy. The toast comes out pre-buttered so if that’s not your thing, make sure to request for it without! ProTip: If toast is not your thing overall, you can sub it out for a pancake or waffle. The Oatmeal Pancakes were fluffy and hearty, the pecans gave it a nice crunch while the tangy blueberries offset the sweetness of the pancakes. By the end of it all, I was extremely stuffed and satisfied. Arrive with some patience and an empty stomach. Leave with a smile!

I love breakfast, and so does Harry’s coffee shop! The first time I went, I wandered in uncertain of what to expect but was quickly surprised by the workers welcoming us. Their menu is quite extensive and I can never decide on what to get! I love the set up of their décor and the booths there. If they were open any later I’d be there for dinner chatting about life into the wee night. Anyway, service is great and the food even better. If you’re down for a milkshake, don’t withhold! You will regret not partaking in it! The fruit selection is fantastic but I kind of despise the $ 3 fee to include it in the meal, simply because I’m not quite rich enough to not care about the extra charge. One small note if you cared about the toast on the side of meals: they come a bit burnt. Not sure if its consistent, but it was too crisp for my taste. Give this place a try! They’re doing great things.

Finally had time to visit Harry’s! I dropped my car off at Colonial Garage right around the corner and while they were changing my oil I enjoyed some breakfast at the oldest diner in San Diego. My waitress was excellent, a very kind and polite older woman served my table and I really enjoyed her service. I ordered the eggs Benedict with Canadian bacon and a side of fruit. While it didn’t look like anything special it definitely got the job done. Coffee was fresh and I liked that each table receives a whole pot full. Very satisfactory Harry’s!

Love that this place has been here for years! Decided to check this place out because of it being on the food network for top diners. There is a parking lot in the back in case you can’t find street parking. Walking in, it definitely felt like everyone knew each other and a family diner. You can tell a lot of people come back a lot and are returning customers. My boyfriend got the bw Benny and I got the Benedict. We both ended up subbing the ham for sausage patty and it was our first time having a Benedict with sausage and it was a good decision! The sausage was delicious and I put the hollandaise sauce on the side which was also a good decision. My meal was delicious and would definitely get it again. The bw Benny was good. The waffle was a little thin and he would’ve rather had the hollandaise sauce on the side because there was a lot of the sauce on it. Towards the end of his meal, he ended up pouring the syrup over all of it and it tasted even better. Liked how family oriented the diner was and could tell they are very popular with the diverse group of people coming in and out of the restaurant.

Great, superb, delicious breakfast!!! Just watch out for the clueless teeny boopers trying to work as a hostess. Pretty clueless on this Sunday morning.

During my final years living in San Diego(2000 – 2002), this was my other breakfast place every other Saturday morning. Fast forward to Sunday morning, December 20th. I took my wife here, so it was the first time I’ve sat in a booth(versus at the counter). All these years later, the breakfasts are still awesome! I’m glad they kept a framed U-T’s front page of the heavily-underdog Chargers beating the heavily-favored Steelers en route to Super Bowl 29. That really brought back great memories. Anyway, after our breakfast, my wife and I headed to the stadium to watch the Chargers beat the Dolphins 30 – 14, in what may possibly be their last home game in San Diego.

After seeing a show aired on the Food Network called Top 5 diners! I looked up when I heard them say Harry’s Coffee Shop. I watched what they were promoting and it looked delicious. Are they talking about the Harry’s in PB? «I said to myself». and it was a definite YES they were. I’m usually the type of person that doesn’t mind eating something for breakfast that’s for lunch and in this case it’s a special occasion. Our waitress Christina was on point. Just like she always is. All of us chatted about how the show was aired last night right before we ordered. We have had Christina as a waitress before and we all remembered each other. I ordered The FAMOUS B. W. Benny that was featured on the show and it’s totally worth it. You must try this! OMGoodness! The dish consists of a golden brown waffle with bacon inside and on the top, grilled ham, poached eggs topped with their famous Hollandaise Sauce and served with warm syrup. LOOKNOFURTHER and this is the Benny I will be getting from now on. I asked for a sausage patty instead of the ham. Their sausage is the best sausage I have ever had and I have had them substitute it before. The waffle had a nice golden brown color and it had the perfect crisp when I took my first bite that every waffle should have. The eggs oozed out after I pushed them open with my fork. The egg whites were fluffy and airy and had such a magical flavor with the sausage that I couldn’t stop eating. The best part and taste was when I poured the warm syrup over the whole thing. The glass cup has just the right amount of syrup in it. I even poured it over the poached eggs. mmm mmm MMM! THISISTHEBEST BREAKFAST I HAVEEVERHAD! OHMYGOSH am I full. BUUUURP! For a Tuesday lunch nearing closing time it was still pretty busy and then started to calm down after all the food was served. We sat in our favorite booth right behind the bar and it’s where you will get the best service and I love watching everyone in action.

I’m consistently happy whenever I go to Harry’s. Harry’s has such a unique, old school feel to it, and attracts like-minded clientele. You can relax at Harry’s and always feel welcome and right at home. That means a lot to me. That«homey» feel. The thing that brought me to Harry’s recently was a Food Network episode that aired a show called, «Top 5 Diners», and Harry’s was one of the featured diners! These included diners from all across the country, so this gave really big accolades to Harry and his restaurant. A job well done, indeed! I ordered a version of an item that was featured on Top 5 Diners, the B. W. Benny Florentine. It was a crispy waffle, with crumbled bacon mixed into the batter. It then had more crisp bacon piled on top of the waffle. Next, the waffle and bacon was topped with 2 poached eggs that had perfectly runny yolks. Finally, the whole thing was topped with steamed spinach, and then topped with house-made hollandaise sauce. I asked for my spinach on the side because I’m a spinach purist. It was unbelievable and delicious! A very nice change from the customary Eggs Benedict, although they have that, too. This B. W. Benny Is a new addition to Harry’s menu, which was a genius idea! The beauty of this fabulous dish is that Harry will allow you to customize it! And that makes me a happy girl! The extremely friendly and efficient Christina was our server, and I can say she is top notch! She is a great conversationalist, and we chatted and laughed a lot whenever she checked up on us, which was often, and just at the right times. We talked about how cool it was that Harry’s was on a Food Network show! I can’t say enough good things about her personality. Ask to be seated by Christina because she will treat you right. If you want to have some good food, you can’t go wrong at Harry’s. Harry’s serves both breakfast and lunch and I can vouch for the quality of both. A fine restaurant! FIVEFABULOUSSTARS!!!

Went here for breakfast. There was a wait but for 2 people we didn’t have to wait long. We got a nice booth. The theme here is old fashioned kind of makes you feel like you’re at a diner in the 50s. Our waitress was very nice and greeted us right away. I ordered the breakfast burrito with avocado and it was delish. It was huge too, I had to bring half of it home. The only complaint is that it took a while for our food to come out, or maybe we were just really hungry. But, with that being said, it was busy and very worth the wait!

If you are in for a true diner experience this is the place to go. The food is spot on and the service is excellent. I lived in New Jersey for a year and have been craving a true authentic diner in San Diego and this place is it.

I came by this historic eater on an early Sunday morning and initially sat at the counter, but as a tall gent, I found the seats to be uncomfortable, so I headed for a table with bench seating. I ordered the La Jolla Scramble that traditionally comes with egg whites, but I asked them to throw the whole eggs in. At $ 10 and some change, the scramble came with spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, and your choice of cheese, in which I chose feta. On the side, it came with a fruit bowl and I went for the rye toast buttered. The regular egg scramble was good. The eggs were well scrambled, seasoned, and a little buttery which I liked. The spinach was fresh and the mushroom were tender and had good flavor. The tomatoes were okay or perhaps a little more acidic than I would of liked for this scramble. The feta was a good choice for this scramble in that it gave the scramble a nice salty element here and there. The scramble was good to eat in conjunction with the rye toast. Although, they over buttered it, I suggest to ask for the butter in the side, the toast was very good. It had nice light brown toast and a very good rye flavor. The mini fruit bowl was good. Most of the fruits and berries had a god fresh quality to them except the pineapple which was a little past its prime but still edible. Nice option if you don’t want to fill yourself on potatoes. Service was friendly enough. My served was pretty attentive, until it started getting a little busy, which was understandable. I would like to note that the place would benefit from a deep clean, given the salt and pepper shakers were grimy and the tops of the booths had food stains and such. Good scramble nevertheless… 3.5 stars.

Classic diner. Tried to sit at the counter near the stove area but the sour pungent smells made me get up and sit in a booth to escape the odors. I decided to try a old timey meal since I was in a classic diner and opted for: — Creamed Chip Beef: a U.S. navy classic. sliced beef in a hot creamy gravy over a tossed english muffin & hash brown potatoes. It’s not a very pretty dish, was mostly tangy tasting, and just meh. An unimpressive meal. Service was prompt.

Such a neighborhood gem. Love Harry’s but prepare to wait if you want a weekend breakfast. They usually move tables fairly fast and Lj is so nice, you can go walk around and look at shops for a bit. Their menu is vast and so many things to choose from. My two favorite things at Harry’s are, their scrambled eggs which are always cooked to perfection and soft. The other dish that is stellar is their waffles! Harry’s is known for their waffles. They are thin, crunchy and delish. The wait staff has mostly been there for years and are efficient. If you love spicy, come prepared, there is only one bottle of sriracha in the whole joint. So, maybe we can all start leaving a bottle there! Their omlettes are large and filled with fresh ingredients. The hash browns are thick so if you like crunchy, ask for them extra well done. We had so much food, we had to take to go boxes.

Harry’s Coffee Shop is an old school place that serves huge portions. Me and my peeps went for a late breakfast. They have bacon… here it comes-inside of a pancake with eggs and go figure, more bacon on top. Just because why not. Their hash browns are the real deal. Saw a dude in another booth going Bloody Mary with a Ice Tea. That Iced Tea was very lonely. The dude abides.

Delicious breakfast place! Such a classic American diner. They make amazing French toast, eggs, and bacon. I definitely recommend for classic breakfast in the la jolla area! Indoor and outdoor seating, and even when it’s crowded, the wait isn’t usually too long.

As I stepped in, I immediately liked the vibe. Diners were the original ‘open kitchen’ concept, I believe :) this place is a good ol breakfast place, with counter seating and booths and nothing else, for seating. I love it! The service is good and the food is perfect breakfast food. I got the Superfecta breakfast, comes with coffee, egg made your way, hearty hash Browns with the right amount of crisp and soft and not greasy, choice of bacon or sausage. Very satisfying. I can’t wait to bring people here, especially my breakfast loving people. :) P. S. Props for the wall memorabilia too, especially the framed newspaper with the Chargers going to the superbowl. Free 1 hour parking lot for customers
