Yum! I was going to order the crab roll, but the nice lady behind the counter said that they cook their own live lobster. I got the lobster roll. OMG! So delicious! She said that they also cut their french fries. I had to try them. They have some kind of thin coating on them and are seasoned with a bit of pepper. Oh so good! I can hardly wait to go back to try another item!

One of San Diego’s greatest secrets! You will pass through Adams Ave and never know that inside a liquor store lies a super delicious seafood spot that you would expect at Seaport Village, but it’s almost like a speakeasy in a way. Their FB account hasn’t had a post in two years, their Twitter is as active as my motorola ultra express pager, and snapchat? They think that’s what their lobsters do before they get cooked in the pot. But, once you get the insider information that the Alaskan Seafood Connection has one of the best and fattest lobster rolls in San Diego, you’ll wanna call Ron Burgundy yourself and have him put it on Channel 4 news! Just walk inside, look for the chef and whisper what you want and BAM in about 8 minutes out comes your food. While you’re there, why not pick up one of the craft brews to pair your lobster with and you my friend have got a meal that you can page your friends about.

In a liquor store, not the best atmosphere but the food is delicious. I ordered fish and chips($ 7.95), even though everything sounded good and the fish taste fresh and the batter simple but tasty. The fries fresh cut and very well cooked and seasoned. I also ordered the clam dip and chips, all for $ 5. The dip was very good and the chips were homemade and cooked very crispy, the way i like it. I will go back to try the fried scallops and possibly the fish lumpia. You can order from their fresh fish counter and get anything cooked by them for an additional $ 3. I recommend…

First time here. My fiancé and I strolled through balboa and then came here for lunch. After passing by it a few times we then realized its inside the liquor store. Lobster roll was amazing and we also shared an order of fish and chips. There’s two tables outside but that’s it. We ate our lunch in our car… very romantic!

Outstanding! This place is a gem hidden in a neighborhood liquor store! Lobster roll and bisque were amazing and at such a great value for teal Maine lobster.

large lumps of lawbstah, yummy and not overly creamy with the mayo which was really nice. Toasted bun was a nice touch as well.

I had the clam chowder(5STARS), it was AWESOME. I also had the lobster roll(2STARS), it had lots of lobster, but not very good flavor… very boring. I’ll definitely go back for the clam chowder, by far the best I’ve had in San Diego.

The food is really, really good. The ambiance is really, really awful. This place is clearly intended to be a take-home operation. There are only 2 tables — intended for the convenience of folks awaiting take-out on the sidewalk. It’s a busy intersection, so there is lots to see. We actually ate at the tables. The food is fabulous and the servings are enormous, and the prices are modest(cheap — given the size of the servings). Food is cooked to order — so it’s not fast food! … but it’s really good food.

This spot shares an entrance with a liquor store so it’s a little hard to find. The employee was really sweet and let us know beforehand that they had run out of a couple items because a local event had dragged in a bunch of customers that cleared them out of a few things. Fortunately all I wanted was a lobster roll and fish and chips. The lobster roll was alright considering I’m not huge on lobster. It was a little buttery and creamy for my taste, but from my understanding that’s how a lobster roll should be. The portion of lobster was large which was cool. I LOVE fish and chips and the portion for $ 7.99 was well worth it. Unfortunately, some of the fish seemed chewy which made me concerned as to whether it was fully cooked(my stomach shall make the determination soon). The fries appeared to be fresh made there which is nice, but I think they could have been fried a little longer. Overall, the place was worth trying and I’ll likely return when their stock is full to try different items. The price for the type of food is too good to not give them a second chance.

August 28: Just right in the middle. Ordered their lobster roll/sandwich before and it’s okay. The most recent time I was hungry and I wanted something quick. I had their fish sandwich. Rock Fish and well the fish tasted not fresh but okay, although very cheap in price. If I wanted a quick fix I will come here again, otherwise I won’t bother. The people there are very friendly but it just wasn’t my go to spot. A-OK. Nothing wrong with that. If you’re in the area then it’s worth it. Most people mentioned their tacos. So I guess next time I should get that instead.

You walk into a liquor store, yeah, so what? As if you are above buying fish and yummy treats from the insides of such a joint. Tonight’s special: 3 Mahi Tacos with fries for $ 7.95. Grilled fish tacos are hard to come by, but Mahi too? Snapppppp. I am in. Just picked the food up and the scent alone is amazing. Review of the actual food to come shortly.

Whenever I say I crave fish and chips my friends think of bringing me here. My first time coming here I was a bit bewildered because I discovered that it was located inside a liquor store. Parking can be a bit tricky, but they do have parking close by(not much, but still parking). The place also has some seating found outside, but it isn’t much so I’d suggest just taking your food to go. The people that run this place are super nice! I love how personal they get and are patient with you when you have a bunch of questions. Whenever I’ve been here I order the fish and chips combo and I have never been disappointed. The portions are huge and more than filling. I did order their clam chowder once and I wasn’t a big fan(I’m also very picky about my clam chowder) because it wasn’t really that thick, but they do give you a good portion of it. I’d say give this place a try! The people that work here are nice and the fish and chips are awesome!

Walked inside at 3:16 P.M. and was told the grill had been turned off and the lady behind the counter said she would re-open at 5. Apparently that is their business hours to close from 3:30−5 P.M. which is beyond bizarre to me. I walked in just shy of 15 minutes before they close and the only thing the lady working could offer me was lobster rolls. I wasn’t sure if she was going to make it fresh or if they were already pre-made, but I didn’t want to get suckered into buying the last thing available for sale especially if it cost over $ 13, so I refused. Never feel comfortable when a place only has one item left and it is near closing time because that’s usually old food. What kind of place other than sushi closes down for an hour and a half in the middle of the day? Not sure if I will ever want to return based on that stupid fact. I have limited time and this place made me waste it because they shut down in the middle of the afternoon which is lunch time on my clock.

I enjoyed a simple lunch of a lobster roll and a cup of clam chowder. I believe this was the best chowder I have ever had anywhere! Amazing texture, clams galore. the flavor balance is on point and the soup could double is a base for a pasta dish(minus the potatoes). I almost can’t get over the fact that this soup was –not– stabilized with a thick roux. .this clearly was made from an incredible shelfish stock-who goes on this long about chowder! The cup portion was more like mug. I lie awake thinking, «I’ll get the bowl next time and feed the whole family». Next, to the lobster roll. The lobster chunks and portion were satisfying in flavor and quantity. The thing with lobster is when I finally get around to treating myself with it… I can’t get enough! There was just enough dressing and it was balanced perfectly in flavor. A few crunchy slices of lettuce accented the creamy, sweet Maine lobster-tasting chunks.(the lobster: is it from Maine? or Alaska??) The bread was toasted, buttered, it was really YUM. The lobster mix was excellent. It tasted as if I had made it myself — homemade. I want to stress that the lobster chunks were dam sweet. The gentleman who runs it is super nice– obviously has spent many a year in Alaska(if that’s him in all the exposition photos on the wall). I heard what seemed to be a Boston accent… definitely east coast. East coasters are my fav as I am from NY. Highly recommend ***

First time to try the lobster roll… Its really good. I thought it was a restaurant — but its actually in a liquor store… Hole in the wall places always have better food. Anyways… i did expect more out of the lobster roll/sandwich thingy — but its good :)

Underrated. I never noticed this place until I was looking on Unilocal for some lobster rolls in San Diego. I used to go to Pilgrimage Yoga regularly and I only came in here to buy some juice and the grocery side. Didn’t realize that they sold seafood on the other counter! I would recommend the scallops and fries(which comes with coleslaw) for $ 9.99. It’s pretty good and you get a generous portion of scallops and fries(with tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, and ketchup). The lobster rolls are not bad either. I will say that the wait is kinda long and while you are invited to wait outside for your food, there’s not a whole lot of seating. So you might have to be standing there in the store waiting for your food. But it’s worth the wait.

Came here exclusively for the lobster rolls after seeing the high rating. Sadly, I was pretty disappointed. Pros: great price for lobster rolls($ 11.99) you can’t beat that and the size was reasonable Cons: bread tasted stale and wasn’t toasted enough. There was lobster and a bit of lettuce within the bread, it tasted like there was cheese in the sauce or underneath the lobster on the lettuce but I couldn’t quite figure out what it was My friend ordered the Jumbo Shrimp & fries($ 8.99) and it came with coleslaw, it was a good portion size and the fries were nicely seasoned. It took about 20 minutes for us to get our food. Also, FYI this place in within a supermarket and there is limited seating out front. Not my spot for lobster rolls in SD, sorry Alaskan Seafood Connection.

I have to admit, I was quite disappointed with this place, especially after having high expectations from it. I came in and order the Rock Fish fish tacos for $ 5.95 which came with fries and a bowl of lobster bisque. The fish tacos were very disheartening. The tacos did not come with fillets of rock fish, but rather charbroiled pieces that were pretty much dry and flavorless, and had that texture as if they came from frozen fish. The rock fish was clearly over cooked, and to make matters worse, they stuffed the tacos with shredded cabbage and tomatoes and simply placed the pieces of fish on top. I did not get it. Where’s was the tender succulent grilled fish fillet? Not here. As a person who has eaten endless fish tacos, I felt insulted. The lobster bisque was okay. It was not a smooth creamy silky bisque with that deep rich color and flavor. I commend them for adding actual lobster meat to the bisque, but the bisque did not have that good rue preparation a good bisque has. Its flavor was not deep and rich enough, more superficial, and the bisque was lumpy, thick, or broken would probably be a good way to describe it. It did not hit that silky creaminess it should of had, nor flavor of butter on the tip of your tongue, when you taste it. On a good note, their prices are pretty decent, but I think they need to rethink how they make those fish tacos, and if they are using frozen fish, please don’t. Oh yes, did I mention the french fries were all limp. I ate two pieces and then threw the rest away. I hate wasting food. In the end, I have had better.

Great portioned size food for the right prices! Yes, this place is a hole in the wall. It is inside of a liquor store and most people will probably not even realize that there’s a small deli-type restaurant in here! It’s very much on the ghetto side, so don’t expect to have high expectations. There’s only two small tables outside of the store if you want to eat here. Each table will fit 2 – 4 people only. Lobster Roll $ 11.99 You seriously WILL not find any other places that offers a lobster roll for less than $ 15. The only downfall to this lobster roll was that it is served on a hot dog bun versus a real grilled bread. It’s more of a lobster salad rather than the usual lobster with butter and spices. Also served on a light bed of lettuce. They give a good portion size and is pretty good. More decent, but great price. Clam Dip & House Made Chips $ 3.99 All I can say is… HOLYCHIPS!!! Why? Because for $ 3.99 they give you a LARGE box filled with some delicious crispy house made chips. It is seriously a STEAL at this portion size and price. As for the clam dip… i didnt know what to expect because i’ve never had a clam dip. And this specific clam dip, it was like a bowl of cream cheese with stuff in it. Very thick and creamy, and don’t get me wrong it was good. Highly recommended as a side! Fish & Chips $ 7.95 My friend seemed to really like their fish and chips, but me personally I think it was very flavorless. Therefore the tartar sauce is has to be used. But the fish was soft, not too dry, and nice and crispy. Just flavorless. The fries were decent too. Clam Chowder Bowl $ 5.50 The clam chowder didn’t look so promising at first, because when we opened it up, it just looked like white liquid. Hiding in that soup are some meats and veggies. The soup itself was not bad, quite decent. Not the best, but edible. Overall, the place could use some real updating, but i guess that’s what hole in the wall places are supposed to be like. But like i mentioned, pretty good food for a GREATPRICE!
