The ice mocha blend was good. A little pricey $$ but I don’t come here often so it was still a good drink.

While vacationing in San Diego we were lucky enough to be staying one block away. It was a morning thing for my wife and I to walk here every morning. My wife got the Mexican Mocha EVERY time. The Cortado was very good. There drip coffee is pretty awesome too. Great staff. Answered questions and made suggestions of things to do in town when asked. We will miss our morning trips to Café Virtuoso.

Love this coffee shop! It’s a real diamond in an otherwise slightly rough neighborhood. I was recommended this coffee shop by a friend who lives nearby. Instead of driving to find a local Starbucks, I decided to give this local shop a try… and man, am I sure that I did. So far, I’ve tried their cappucino and latte… both delicious, rich, creamy, and delicious! This isn’t a drawback for me, but I wanted to mention it so you know… this is not a place to sit down and spend time. There are a few high top tables, but mostly this is a shop to grab your coffee and go. The space feels industrial(perhaps they ship coffee and coffee equipment from here) which gives a cool vibe, but it’s not a space to work in. Delicious and highly recommended!

Warehouse o’coffee. Not really a comfy place to hang out as the seats and tables are small but they take their coffee pretty seriously. They also have a retail section where you can buy coffee paraphernalia and even giant burlap bean bags.

Wow. Soooo good and soo smooth! I’d probably be a regular if they weren’t so far. They are definitely on my top 3 list of favorite coffee places in San Diego. Two shots are included with a regular latte but they recommend three. Two was perfect for me.

One of the best coffee shops I’ve ever been to! I had both the nitro brew(wonderfully smooth) and the drip coffee(out of this world) in one sitting. I was more amped than a hamster doing fat lines of cocaine. Is it normal for blood to squirt out of your ears? The drip was a freebie because I’d also purchased a bag of beans(their European-style espresso blend). The beans made lovely espressos at home. I’m not a fan of acidity or bitterness, so this milder and smoother-tasting espresso was really pleasant. It’s always great to see coffee shops that roast their own beans on-site. Furthermore, this is probably one of the few coffee shops on earth that don’t make you feel claustrophobic. The interior is a bright, spacious warehouse where you can catch a glimpse of the roasting process. Highly recommended!

Visited for the first time this morning. The staff was VERY friendly and knew their coffee. I ordered an iced pour over and chose a bean from Mexico. They have a wide variety of beans from all over the world. The pour over took some time to make(as they normally do) but the wait was well worth it. So delicious! Probably the most delicious brew I’ve had from all these coffee shops in Logan. Virtuoso also sells fancy coffee brewing contraptions, a wide variety of beans, they have a few pre made sandwiches, and a great menu. They are also dog friendly. A couple brought their corgi in and the girls behind the counter went nuts. So sweet! The *only* reason I’m taking a star away is due to the location. I attempted to come to Virtuoso twice before while driving, but there was ZERO parking in the area. I mean, absolutely none. I only live a mile away so the third time, I walked. But if you’re driving here, in the middle of a weekday, you’ll either have to park on 16th street somewhere(which is littered with homeless encampments and there’s now way I’d leave my car there) or park somewhere off Cesar Chavez and walk half a mile. I wish they were in a better location here in Logan. Overall, Virtuoso has some of the best coffee I’ve had in the area and I *will* be returning… probably with my dog next time, too! But I’m probably going to walk there from now on.

My boyfriend and I are freaks for coffee! Since moving back from LA, where we were spoiled with tons of amazing options, we went on a hunt for the best tasting mochas/espresso/coffee. After being disappointed countless times at too many cafes to count, we stumbled across this place and couldn’t be more thrilled about it! Their baristas are so friendly and knowledgable. Their suggestions have always pleased us! We frequent Café Virtuoso for our favorite drinks and to take home espresso beans to make at home with our machine. Highly recommend trying this place out! You won’t regret it!

«Warehouse Distribution Chic.» Excellent place to grab a cup of joe and go. It serves one of the best coffees in San Diego. Beyond the coffee ordered at the counter, it has an expansive selection of teas, coffees, and home brew accessories. The coffee appears to be freshly roasted and ground onsite, and the staff friendly. The seating is limited. Not an ideal gathering place for groups and the style is an aberration from the living-room-style coffee houses.

Wow! I’m not a super coffee snob, but I like a strong brew and I use my own French press. I’ve always found premium coffee of all kinds to hover around the same«Yeah, this is better than Foldgers» space. Virtuoso absolutely destroys my preconception of what good coffee is supposed to taste like. I got the mocha. It was served at a perfectly drinkable temperature(Big plus for me since my mouth is pretty temperature-sensitive). It was so creamy and smooth. It didn’t need whipped cream and an ounce of sugar to hide any bitterness or roughness. It was literally perfect!

Café Virtuoso is my favorite place to pick up my Spanish Cortado(created by Mary of course) as well as my big bag of Virtuoso Espresso beans( ). As I’ve stated from my past reviews, the Cortado is the«drank» I use to gauge coffee establishments. The staff always makes you feel welcomed and I always pick up new knowledge about coffee with every visit. Customer Service: 5 Stars Ambiance: 5 Stars Pet-Friendly: YES Customer Crowd: 5 Stars. Other patrons, I’ve met there have all been nice! Cortado: 5 Stars Latte Art: 5 Stars

Neat coffee shop. Saw the Unilocal reviews and figured lets give it a go! The single cortado was a fairly small drink but it packs a bit of a punch. Nicely done with a taste similar to a flat white with a bit more of sweetness. Let’s add another coffee shop contender to the Unilocal list.

The only place I go for coffee. Moving to SD from LA was hard for a lot of reasons… But especially because coffee was such a big part of my life and I had been more than disappointed with every place I had tried here. That is, until I found Café Virtuoso! The baristas, Mary, Amy and Nicole are all super knowledgable but aren’t coffee snobs, which is hard(if not impossible) to come by, even in LA. Whether you’re a purist or in the mood for something sweet, they’ve got the perfect drink for you: They make the best mochas I’ve ever had, the nitro cold brew is the best in town, and their pour overs are legit. Not to mention great teas and pastries. For the home barista: All of the coffees they roast are certified organic so the beans don’t leave that oily residue in my grinder and my hopper always looks brand new. Their single origin beans are the best in town, and if you’re really into full-body, bright espresso with fruity notes, their Yirgacheffe, Amaro Gayo and Perla Negra will soon become staples in your home. The other thing that sets them apart from the rest of the world’s best roasters/cafes I’ve been to is the management. Savannah, the manager, and Laurie and Greg, the owners, are super friendly and helpful and are always around to answer questions and greet the regulars. Even though it’s a little bit of a drive for me, there’s nowhere else I’d go for coffee. Simply the best!

Their decaf latte is amazing! The milk blends smoothly with the coffee . Mary made an almond chai for my friend that was perfect with cute art. Also check out Mary’s graphic art in the hallway! Someday you’ll be able to say you knew her when…

Virtuoso is usually my to go place for a high standard espresso in San Diego. Today was the second time I came and I found my self having yet aging another smokey taste espresso with too much bitterness. They use to have great baristas there, that not only they new how to make a consistent great tasting espresso but also had a great client service skills. The coffee beans in the other hand are till very much the same great quality.

My my this is amazing coffee! Went here on rainy yesterday with a buddy to try they’re coffee, and we both were impressed. We loved it so much, we both had two cups of coffee as we watched the sidewalk get flooded with rain. We also ordered something different each time. The service is great and very friendly. A laid back hole in the whole, but with a great setup! For all you Starbucks fans that think they’re coffee is the best or great? You obviously need to try more coffee joints, because what I noticed is the hole in the walls, up and comers, and mom & pops shops are always the hidden gem like this one. I believe I had the cappuccino and mocha expresso. Both were delicious, but the mocha was a bit more sweeter in a good way!

This is a nice little spot that I just happened to come across. I went in and got something I have never had. It’s called the cortado. I think she described it as warm(not hot) half & half over espresso. I really enjoyed it, and I liked the taste of their coffee. One thing I really like about this place is they are happy to let you sample their coffee. She gave me a good sized sample of their cold brew, and it was very good. It wasn’t an overwhelmingly bold flavor, and it was very smooth at the end. She said it was brewed over 18 hours and kept at room temperature. She gave me lots of info(sorry if I got it wrong!), and this always makes me feel like what I am drinking is more than coffee! Anyway, It was really good, and I am excited to try their other drinks!

Let me start off by saying that I LOVE this place, truly amazing coffee. It is a half a block from my work, and they have some of the strongest, and best tasting coffee that I have ever had. They do all of their roasting in house, which you can actually watch on any given day, and they have a solid selection of drinks, included blended coffees, and some of the best tasting tea you will ever find. I usually order one of two things, a black coffee(hammerhead if available!), or an espresso over ice. I know that espresso over ice is unconventional, but it’s what I like, and I can say that without question, this is the best tasting espresso I have ever had. It has such a complex and smooth flavor to it, almost sweet, and makes you feel like you’ve been hit by lightning. They roast a ton of different types of coffee, and everyone that I have has has been absolutely on point. Mexican, and Ethiopian are two that come to mind. They have a decent selection of pastries, ton and tons of home brewing equipment, and local snacks from the area as well. On top of that, they have outdoor seating, and they are dog friendly! They also have a self-serve water dispenser that usually has some kind of fruit infusing in it, which is nice. The staff are all very nice, and many of them are very serious about their coffee, I know Mary always has a big smile, and usually knows exactly what I want to order before I have to open my mouth. Bottom line, this place will give you some of the BEST coffee you have ever tasted, which is saying a lot, especially in this market.

If you were in Portland and someone blindfolded you, spun you around 3 times — then asked you to throw a rock — you would hit a great coffee shop or café. Maybe not directly but for sure after careening off of a couple of hipsters and a bag lady. Portland-quality roast can be found in San Diego, but you may have to go a little farther than a stone throw. Café Virtuoso is the best organic, fair trade certified coffee roasterie in this mega-metropolis, holding up to the top Seattle, Portland, and New York City specialty coffee experiences. While mostly a wholesale business, visitors are welcome to the combined wholesale/retail operation between East Village and Logan Heights for a pour-over, french press, or «public cupping». Try a serving of Alma Negra(Black Soul) of Costa Rica and you will never again step foot into a Starbucks(except maybe the restroom). You can also experience this over-the-top beverage product at the Little Italy Mercato on Saturdays, or find roasted bean packs at retailers like Frazier Farms or Grant’s Marketplace. Better yet, CSAs and online orders result in these little packets of paradise magically appearing at your doorstep. Ask your favorite restaurant waiter to pull you a Café Virtuoso single origin espresso with dessert. Mr. A’s, Bottega Americano, Brian’s 24, Claire’s on Cedros, Cucina Enoteca, Cucina Urbana(pretty much any restaurant that contains the word«Cucina»), Mille Fleurs and other fine establishments should be able to oblige. If you are a coffee purist {/snob}, know that they are using a Diedrich Roaster. Diedrich roasters utilize a patented technique to minimize the negative effects of contaminated burner gases on coffee. Been to Denny’s? You know the taste. Also, Diedrich is the only roasting equipment manufacturer in the U.S.(cue the GOUSA chant). #GoUSA #CucinaThis #PublicCupping #PortlandiaStyle
