I’m in ucsd almost 2yrs and to be honest, I will give the food 3.5 star. But for the service I will give them 0 star if I can. There is a mid age guy, he is soooo sick and offer a horrible service. he does not allow u to use ur friend’s stand card unless ur friend pay for u. and he is so rude. i will not go there anymore

I came in for takeout and was surprised to find they had a great variety of lamb dishes for a reasonable price. Rarely do you find lamb at an Indian restaurant and even rarer for it to be in my budget. My lamb tikka masala was flavorful, smooth and had huge chunks of lamb meat. It also came with rice and two large pieces of Naan. I was very happy to have gotten enough food to make two meals. I am looking forward to going back and trying more meals. I will update my review after I actually stay to eat next time.

Food is decent, but the waiter is really rude. He was wearing a white hat and glasses and was unable to do more than one thing at once.

I had the chicken tikka masala and the chicken yellow curry! The food was great and the naan bread was actually amazing! I went in not knowing what to order and the man working there, who was really nice, made some recommendations for me. Definitely going back!

I actually got Bombay Coast to cater my wedding last year and it went very well. Zubin made some dishes to cater to my Goan background as well as to the mix of cultures at the wedding. Everyone raved about the food including my Indian parents and my husbands white relatives, some of whom had never tasted Indian food. They were very flexible with the menu and dishes. The price was very affordable and he had three staff members who served the dishes to my guests. There was loads of food and everyone could have seconds or more. Bombay Coast is not a full-service caterer so I needed to find my own bussers and plate/silverware rentals etc… That can be a pain, unless you have a wedding planner who can help organize that with you. That said, it was a great experience and tasty food.

I got a very horrible lunch in here. Be honest, the food is good, but the server is a middle age guy he is so so so sucks. When I was order the food, I said plz don’t put onions inside, he said, it’s ok I will put onions but u can’t see it! ! I said I was allergy with onions, and he is yelling me said«ok I know»!!! I was thinking how did u know? Ok whatever, then When the food is ready But he didn’t give me fork and spoon, I have to got those by myself. alright finally I was finish my lunch, but still has a lot. I ask him check and to go, he give me one box but I have three different curry, on is sweet one is slaty one is spicy ‚(lunch special is large size combination.) And I also have rice and bread, I don’t wanna put them together. I ask him can I get a Little box for my rice, he said u can mix them together everybody do like this! But for me I don’t want to mix it, he is keep argue with me about a to go box! Finally he go get box but when he is turn around he said«fuck», and when he is got my receipt, I hear he is talk with chef he said“fuck, she is so mean” !! OMG, who’s the mean one? !! seriously that guy is really ill !!!

The lunch deal is awesome! You can try all different curries and the naan is to die for, fluffy soft and fresh! We had the mango chicken curry, lamb, and shrimp. All highly recommended full of authentic flavor.

I just ordered a delivery order from here! I ordered a chicken biryani slightly spicy and it is absolutely perfect! The portion size, taste, quality as well as the display was perfect. I used to work at an Indian restaurant and their chicken biryani was nothing like this delicious order I received from Bombay coast!

In summary: Waiter had a bad attitude Order was messed up I used to love this place, so it breaks my heart to have encountered a bad experience. On labor day, we ordered about $ 70 worth of food to go. We wanted some yogurt for the bread and spicy items so we asked for one container to fill the yogurt rather than having to fill multiple small ones. The waiter with glasses gave us a hard time saying they don’t give bigger containers but we can fill the smaller ones. Our thoughts: «Ok, so I guess we’ll fill 20 of them since we ordered a lot of food for a group of people.» He gave into giving a small container,(which we did appreciate) but it still wasn’t big enough for the amount of food that we ordered. Why are we not satisfied? We just did not appreciate his attitude. He could have had better customer service and said it nicer or offer to help, but he simply seemed irritated every time he talked. His attitude did not scream«come back again!» On top of that, our order was messed up. We received Cheese Naan and not Kheema Naan.

I try to be objective with one star reviews. So here are the facts. 1) This restaurant advertised that it was open until 10pm on 2) I ordered via Eat24 at 9:30pm, yes that’s 30 minutes before closing, but hey, 10pm means 10pm, not 9:30 3) After confirming my order, Eat24 was nice enough to text me telling me Bombay Coast was closed early tonight. 4) However, since the order was confirmed I have to wait up to 5 business days to get my money back. Nope! Not cool Bombay Coast. Either fulfill your orders as you advertise or don’t advertise it. Am I starving for 5 days because my $ 30 isn’t returned immediately? No. The reality is that we all know they saw my order come in via a 3rd party for delivery 30 min. before closing and just said, «Eh, nah. We don’t want to bother with this one.» Can I prove that? Absolutely not. But you know that’s what they did. Now I sit here $ 30 short for 5 days because of their laziness. Unreliable!

Super friendly staff. The guy the greeted us was very friendly and gave us lots of samples and explanation about the food since I was pretty new to Indian food. We got take out and the food was awesome! Spicy, but not too spicy(at least for me). I got the chicken masala and my mom got an eggplant dish(I can’t remember what it was called. Their naan bread is great and they have lots of sauces to go with your food. 10⁄10 will definitely go there again.

So delicious! I got the 3 entrée combo plus a side of 5 pcs Chicken Simosa. I took my food TOGO and it came with naan and a side salad. Don’t confuse the picture with the flavor of the food! I chose the Boneless chicken tika, the lentil and spinach, and a cheese stew dish(recommended by one of the employees). Service was fast a friendly!

Edit — considering I have now been actively harassed via private message by the waitress in question, I will have to be a little more clear about the experience I had at this restaurant. The waitress not only wore accessories that showed a lack of concern about her professionalism, but we waited nearly half an hour for our food, and it arrived cold. Our tea didn’t even arrive until we were getting ready to pay our bill. Most of the time she sat looking around aimlessly or doing idle tasking, she also had her cell phone out on the floor. We were one of two tables, and there were only two of us at the table. There is no excuse for such poor service and unprofessionalism. The person I was with even commented on how poor the service and food was. Considering it was our first time trying the place, we see it as no loss to not return. But it’s funny to me that the waitress should then private message me, telling me all the grand merits of using LSD, and say I am «judging her lifestyle,» when any successful professional would tell her to leave such indications of said lifestyle at home so it isn’t presented to be judged. If this is the kind of person this place is hiring, I doubt they’ll be in business much longer, because the food certainly isn’t all that authentic. Though maybe if you get a waitress who has enough brain cells to remember to bring it to you while its still hot, you might have a different experience.

Stopped in for dinner and ordered the any two entrée combo with the chicken vindaloo and channa masala along with the tandoori chicken samosas. The two entrée combo comes with your choice of two vegetarian or non-vegetarian entrées, naan bread, salad, and rice. Everything tasted alright, but I was really disappointed with the chicken vindaloo. The vindaloo had an overpowering tomato flavor and was not very spicy. Although the flavor of the vindaloo was subpar, the chicken, on the bright side, was tender and not dry. The restaurant is located at Clairemont Town Square and has ample parking spaces. There’s an outdoor dining area, but it was too chilly at night so we opted to eat indoors instead. Not the best Indian food I’ve had in San Diego, but it’s close by and the prices are decent.

The spice blends turn ordinary potatoes, cauliflower or chick peas into a soul satisfying dining experience. Few do this as well as my neighborhood Indian spot. The intimacy of service combined with the attention evidenced by the décor really allows me to leave my concerns outside this realm while I enjoy a very healthy vegetable heavy meal. The low murmur of other’s conversation and the subtle background soundtrack are comforting and so very different from my everyday life. I feel strangely nurtured after dining here.

Sometimes in my area it’s hard to find diversity in food options so it’s nice to drive a little out of the way and come over to Bombay for some awesome Indian food. I’ve been there 3 or 4 times and the service is always awesome as well as the food! You definitely get a lot of food for the prices! The location isn’t the most appealing but once you’re in the restaurant and sit in the comfy chairs with the nice music playing, you forget about everything else! I’ve had the Chicken Tikka Masala, the Mango Chicken Masala, Veggie Korma, and of course the Naan, which is ultra fluffy and perfect. I know I’ll be back. :)

We got the bombay wraps which didnot live upto the name. The filling, chutneys were bland and not at all good. The only good thing was the naan bread, it was tasty but was overpowered by the blandness of the wrap. I ended up just eating the bread and throwing all the filling. My biggest disappointment was the salty lassi. It was a huge glass with frozen and icy yogurt(normally it is beaten and smooth). The salt was given seperately to add. Overall an average experience and I would Not return.

Mel J likes it spicy. Thrill my taste buds but don’t burn a hole in my tongue. Bombay Coast can boast that they accomplish all of that and more! Yay, LOVED my lunch special for $ 7.99! Now if they just improve their rice, and make the improvements suggested below, I’d give them 4 stars. The rice was too dry, and since Indian food has mouth-watering sauces, it’s important to have perfect rice. But the Naan was good, so next time I’ll skip the rice, and sop up the gorgeous sauces with Naan. The chicken would be even better if it was a little more tender and juicy. I LOVE that for $ 7.99 you can choose 3 items! The staff helped me to make my choices, and I was pleased with the chicken tikka masala with scrumptious sauce, and the Aloo gobi(cauliflower and potato), and the yellow Dal and spinach. This little café in the Clairemont Town square took my by surprise, because my food was better than many Indian restaurants I’ve tried in the San Diego area in a long while! Except for the rice, which as I mentioned was too dry, and contained a few peas which also looked too dry. Also, the chicken in the chicken tikka masala would be improved if it was a bit more tender and juicy and less dry, but the sauce was so outstanding, that I would definitely order the chicken tikka masala again. I also enjoyed the Indian Chai tea, which is made to order. I did think it was a bit odd that they gave me a small serving of tea in a giant cup. I would have preferred twice as much tea… They also have a complimentary chutney and sauce bar which includes Raita. I didn’t care for their Raita as it was too sweet. The other chutneys and sauces were tasty, but I actually didn’t need them, because all of my food already had plenty of interesting spices and flavors. I will DEFINITELY return to Bombay Coast for lunch! I’m hoping they read Unilocal, and can improve the rice, or allow a substitution for the rice. Rice comes with the lunch combo. I’d also be willing to pay a little more for a larger serving of Chai tea. If you love Indian food with lots of flavor in the sauces, I highly recommend you give Bombay coast a try. Park near the movie theater in the Clairemont town square.
