Disappointed ! Hot link sliced and on bun, no nothing else, not hot, not good, beer glass was clicked though!

Well the food was really good but the one thing that upset me the most was the service. I guess if you’re just an average working guy, you have to go and get your food when it’s ready but if you’re a white collar type of person, you get your food brought to you. The sad this is you never know who’s who… it was pretty disheartening that it happened…

I ordered the BBQ Chicken for an executive meeting today. The place was suggested to us by a delivery service called Office Express. The smell the taste and the presentation was all wonderful. We have some very picky eaters but they all said that it was the most tender chicken that they ever had. The sauce, bread and salad was also amazing. Great Job we will order again!

As pictured in the photo, I ordered the Brisket sandwich. It was reasonably priced at approximately $ 8…but it did not come with anything else. Starting with the bun, it was a very basic, run of the mill type of bun. Ive made brisket recently, smoked and all,…and the flavor of mine blew this place out of the water. I literally followed a Youtube recipe, so Im certainly no bbq expert. However, the meat on my sandwich was either overcooked, microwaved, or left out… it was very dry. I think a bbq sauce on a meat should compliment the meat… it shouldn’t just taste like a protein, topped with bbq sauce. I would certainly consider trying other BBQ establishments before returning to any of the Abbey’s BBQ locations.

Having tasted a lot of Texas Barbeque in Texas, Abby’s is just average. The meat lacks that smoked barbeque flavor.

Anders did a fantastic job of preparing my Roundup with 3 meats and 2 sides. He was courteous and accurate and nice. I highly recommend because of him!

This place has delicious bbq. I like this place better then Phil’s BBQ. The manager is also very approachable.

I have to say that the BBQ chicken is by far the best I have had in a long time I highly recommend, I also wanted to note that I also had a side order of BBQ fries with brisket and its better to order the BBQ sauce on the side because it tends to over power the food but other than that love the food :)

I have been eating here for years and I have always found the food to be superlative. Abbey has always been the most gracious of hosts. This graciousness was driven home when I worked at Children’s Hospital and got off just past their closing time. When I next had lunch there, I mentioned that they closed just prior to my being able to get there. Abbey told me to call ahead before I left work with my order and they would WAIT for me!!! Unbelievable customer service coupled with deeply smoked bar-b-q…it doesn’t get any better than this.

Best brisket I have ever had in my life so much that I recommend everyone to enjoy it, how do I know it’s good I spent three months exploring southern Texas and had BBQ everyday for three months, I dub it best BBQ in San Diego.

I’m from Texas, so let me just get that out of the way. I LOVETHISPLACE. It is some of the best brisket ever. And, if you’re from Texas, you’ll especially appreciate that they have white bread, pickles, and onions readily available. The people were so friendly. If I lived closer I’d go there all the time. I was in the mood for BBQ ribs and I stopped to get some to go. I ordered pork ribs, hot links, BBQ beans and potato salad. I was soooo excited about the beans and they were NOT edible. The guy that put my order together HAD to have known which makes me sad. The hot links and potato salad were good but the pork ribs were not. I only ate one pork rib and threw the in the trash. I have been to this establishment in the past, but I will not be going back to this establishment due to the unsatisfactory food I received. I guess I’ll go back to standing in long lines at Phil’s BBQ; at least I know the food is freshly prepared all the time.

The quality of the BBQ is outstanding. traditional smoked meats of top quality the cook knows his business. We have tried the Brisket, Ribs, Sausage, Pulled pork… Corn bread, baked beans, house salad… and the best sweet tea(like in the south)… we loved all This place is very informal. under-staffed, old table covers, plastic and foam kitchen ware. self serve soda fountain, no wait staff… cafeteria style order and wait… — 2 full size adult meals with brisket, sides and drinks included came up to $ 28 and we took home leftovers. I don’t mind the flaws since the BBQ is delicious. and the owner is the nicest guy ever… Go and support our small business owners!

Ewww. Gross. The brisket had a smoky flavor but somehow it was still bland. And it was not warm. It was borderline cold. The yellow rice tasted like nothing. It literally had no taste. The table cloths at every table were sticky and dirty looking. And to top it off, it wasn’t cheap. The staff wasn’t even friendly. I would never go back. Never!

Don’t let it’s simple appearance fool you. This is an amazing BBQ spot. The guy working was very nice and very helpful with some basic questions. We got beef ribs, pork ribs, pulled pork and sides of fried okra, potato salad with two slices of cornbread. The BBQ sauce mixed with the Louisiana hot sauce was amazing together! The pulled pork stood out as the best. It was tender and juicy and would be wonderful on a sandwich or any other carb of your liking. I can’t wait to come back and get the Texas fries next time with pulled pork and hot links. The price was also not bad at all for BBQ. The portions are also a nice size. I love to eat and can really pity it away but all this split with my girlfriend was more then enough to fill me up. Try this place out the food is great!

Came in for lunch one day and ordered the brisket with fried okra, corn bread, onion rings and a drink. Lunch was a little over $ 15. The fried okra was a bit bland but it did have good cornmeal coating and was fried perfectly. A dash of hot sauce made it better. The Corn bread was a bit dry. They should serve it with butter and have it warmed up. Onion rings were greasy and not fully coated. It was just ok. Brisket was okay as well. Wish it was a little more moist but I like to drown my meat with barbecue sauce so it ended up tasting better. To be fair, I think I should come back and try and few more items. My experience was average.

Not the best I’ve ever had, but it definitely beats any other place in SD. I usually come by during lunch, which means parking is a nightmare. Once you get inside, service is quick and friendly. The guys usually suggest what to get based on what’s the most recent items made or you can ask. They are honest and will even tell you what to stay away from. I usually get 2 meats, 1 side and always have leftovers. Portions with the brisket and pulled pork are generous. The ribs are good, but you get 4 which leaves me wanting more if they aren’t really meaty that day. The sauce is tasty and not too sweet. I like to mix it with a little horse radish to give it a kick. The corn bread is one of my favorite things here, it’s almost like having dessert to finish off the meal. I’ve been here a dozen times and have never experienced what other reviewers are saying. I think they were out of the beef brisket once, but there are plenty of alternatives. The only gripe I have is the touch screen check out. You swipe your card and a tip menu comes up. I don’t really get why. You go up to the counter to order and pay, you get your own drink, then you pick up your food when your number is called just like at a fast food joint. Unless they are coming to my table to take my order and pick up after me, I don’t see a need to tip. Having said that, I tend to tip anyway, I almost feel that they might get stingy with the portions if I don’t. LoL

Lunch time came and had me craving some BBQ! So I stopped by Abbey’s Real BBQ today, ready to grub in Kearny Mesa. The parking lot was full, however I got lucky and got a spot in the front as somebody was pulling out. The customer service here is legit as the cashier was down to earth and very friendly! The wait wasn’t too bad as people let me go ahead of them because they were still thinking of their order. Also the food came out in decent time as I did take-out. I ordered the **Texas Fries and added Brisket** for a dollar more. Think Carne Asada Fries meets Del Mar Fair with texas flair. The Texas Fries consists of: fries topped with cheese, beans, and Ranch &BBQ sauce, and beef brisket as my meat of choice. It had a light amount of BBQ and came with more on the side for those who like it extra saucy! The brisket was juicy and tender!!! I’ll definitely be back and try the other meats here. PROS: nice service, excellent food, savory bbq sauce CONS: parking

Their BBQ sauce is exactly what I look for in my women — sweet, thick in the right areas and rich! This place is much better than I anticipated. The interior is very basic. Like they have a fixings area of pickles, peppers and a few other items. Good sign they have wet wipes. I had to go with the brisket and fries. None of the sides were sounding that great to me. Really wanted to try some links and stew, but wasn’t that hungry. Brisket is excellent here. Beautiful succulent cuts. I can’t get enough of this brisket. Just wish there was some smoke flavor in there somewhere. Fries were average. Good option to soak up either of their sauces. The vinegar sauce was a little too thin, but not bad. Thought they gave me a side of cornbread, but it was some kind of sweet cake. I’m not a cake person, but it tasted pretty good. This place is a sleeper. Gonna need to get back here to try more. Great option for the area. Love seeing the growth of more BBQ places sprouting up in SD.

Today was my first time here, as I’m new to the area and wanting to try every place possible for lunch. I LOVE bbq and have had lots of it, mind you I’m no expert, but I’ve had a lot. I was disappointed to see no lunch menu options because the meals were pretty pricey for what is included. I ordered the small meat with one side and a drink for 7.99 and the picture I posted is what I got, drink not pictured. It is a small portion, and I can get a lunch that is cheaper and will last me for 2 days elsewhere. It would be acceptable at least if I was floored by the amazeballness of the quality, but it was okay. Good-okay. The brisket is tender, isn’t juicy but isn’t dry. The taste isn’t heavy or very noticeable and tastes better with the bbq sauce. Potato salad is okay and isn’t anything extraordinary. The Coca cola is amazing! Overall, it’s okay. I have yet to try other things but helps get the ball rolling. I was recommended to try the turkey with salad, so that will be next!
