Mark, Kevin and Andrew rock. This is a local bike shop supported by a staff that rides. With the support of Specialized product lineup it’s the only shop in SC to go to. Heck it’s way better than that popular shop in Dana Point that also serves coffee.

I was planning to get off the freeway where there was a gasoline station to use their restroom. I got off at an exit that left me right in front of San Clemente Cyclery. The owner was most kind and generous and pointed me to the store restroom. I had my dog with me that I rescued only 7 months ago. He got separated from me and about ended up dead in El Camino Real. The owner’s son stopped him and held on to him till I got to him. What kindness and generosity! Now I don’t cycle, but I know kindness and interest when I see it. I San Clemente Cyclery treats non-customers as tremendously as they did me and my dog Sonny, then their customers must be getting the best service available. Thank your for your kindness and for keeping track of Sonny until I could get to him. Joel Burnstine 949.933.0101

The guys there are friendly, knowledgeable, and do a great job on their service. The turn around time was quick too. While they didn’t stock the parts I wanted, they had them within a day or so.(To their credit I wanted very specific bits) I’ll gladly continue to support this business and keep my bike in proper working order.

I recently went in looking for a bike to ride around my neighborhood and the staff there was great. They clearly explained to me the different kind of bikes and I tried a few before I chose a townie bike. I am very satisfied with my purchase!

On vacation in San Clemente I needed a dérailleur adjustment. Called around to a couple places who needed an overnight, then found Kevin at San Clemente Cyclery. He took my Specialized Roubaix with Ultegra triple and in about 20 minutes got both front and rear nicely trimmed out, told me I needed to get the bike back to my local for new cables, noted that the bike(recent Craigslist buy) had a fairly new cassette and chain, AND recommended a saddle tweak after taking it for a post-adjustment spin. Great, prompt and not expensive service for this visitor. Thanks, Kevin!

Mark and Kevin were super cool to work with on my Giant Trance repair. I would recommend them to everyone from beach cruisers to MTB’ers… Thanks to them, I get to ride with my friends this July 4th weekend! Thanks guys, JS

Just bought a Specialized helmet for my 19 month old boy. They fitted him and adjusted the straps and were very helpful and friendly. We’ll be coming back when it’s time to buy the balance bike!

Great dudes. I know nothing about bikes, had my folks in Texas buy one online and ship it to me in peices. After my terrible attempt at putting it together and tuning the derailers I had an unrideable bike. The guys at the shop had no problem addressing my novice build and tuned it up in one business day for less than any other bike shop quoted me in town. I highly recommend!

I lost a nut from my shifter assembly mid ride on my specialized stump jumper. I have purchased 1 bike, gear and service from these guys as I live only a few blocks away but the bike I was onto today was purchased from a competitor and it seemed that they could not stomach this. Although they are a Specialized dealer the owners son sent me away and refused to sell me a simple machine nut that could have saved my Sunday ride. «Why don’t you go where you bought the bike, we sell that bike here also»(rude at best) That is bad business! 1) You are a rep for Specialized and you should be quick to support that brand in every way and respect the responsibility of being a dealer 2) You can’t win everyone’s business every time. Who is to say that I would not have continued business with your shop in the future. You eliminated that option.

I was cycling in the San Clemente /San Onofre area, and my shifting that had been a little off went completely wonky on me. They took it right away and adjusted the gears and checked out a funky noise on a test ride, for the very reasonable cost of $ 10. My gears are now shifting great. The friendly shop impressed my friends as well who left their bike for a tune up and bought a new helmet there. I’m glad to have this shop listed in my book enCYCLEpedia Southern California — The Best Easy Scenic Bike Rides, with good access to all the San Clemente rides, especially Ride SC3 that goes south to San Onofre and Camp Pendleton.

I live in the Trestles community and I can’t tell you how cool & what a godsend this bike store is for me! I ride my bike daily to and from the surf around SC and around town. Needless to say I always have bike problems from flat tires to corroded gears and these guys always take great care of me. I almost always get same day service depending how much work is required. And the prices they charge are ridiculously«fair». This is the quintessential mom & pops store and I wholeheartedly believe in supporting local. I hope the current owners & staff never change and I wish we had more local small retail in SC.

What a great bunch of people. Prices are very reasonable compared to the shops near by. The nice young man even helped install the bike rack for us! Very much recommend this bike shop!

Terrific small shop right off the freeway with excellent customer service. I lost a crank cap and they offered to give me one if they could find one. I was not so lucky but they quickly ordered a replacement. They only charged $ 5 for their labor and they did the job in one day. Our native SC friends had a similar experience. I can’t recommend them enough.

Friendly small bicycle rental place 1 block from San Clemente Inn — walk there faster than drive. Parking on street at the park. Do NOT park from the shop if you going to rent more than 2 hours. It 2 hours parking zone before the park. Parking patrol take seriously n I seen people got ticket. There r big black old friendly dog inside. If your afraid fo let the workers /owner know The lady really helpful n friendly 2 hours for $ 14. 3 hours for $ 18 Bike is pretty new. They provide lock for bike They also have basket for ladies to hold there stuff Bike trail is across street from the shop.

I’m 53 years old and I’ve been around the block a dozen times. The people at San Clemente Cyclery are top notch. Why? There are times in your life when you’ll find yourself over a barrel and everybody knows it. Some will extract their pound of flesh and some will just help a fellow traveler in need. Period. It’s soooo rare these days to find people who love what they do and are genuinely ready to help. Awesome place to buy and service your bike.

since 1974 the SC Cyclery has been the home of the best bikes in San Clemente. They have consistently been supporters of local sports and amatuer riders. The San Clemente Renegades us the shop as their meeting location for their sunday rides, they are always friendly and encouraging to new riders joining the group, they also participate in a couple other weekly rides. be prepared for the rides to last a while, turn around if you need to, or bring an id cause they go on to the Base south of the shop. They are well know for their custom tires and knowedlgale staff. A stapel in the commnity and a muist for any velo enthusiast.

I dropped off a couple of bikes for some work and was not told any kind of price. I had to ask to get one. Then when I came back to pick them up, they tried to charge me $ 10 more per bike than what I had originally been told. They did however quickly clear this up. As another reviewer said, the woman who works here is not interested in helping anyone. Other than that, service was prompt and painless.

These people are so friendly and so helpful and really know their stuff. The listing says they rent bikes, which is untrue, unfortunately. Anyhow, I just really appreciated the great service and they let my fiancée use a tool when he needed to adjust his handlebars, then chatted with him about old school BMX racing and equipment, just really nice! Have been back a few times since my initial review and unfortunately, the lady who works there is really not interested in helping or even talking to customers… bummer.
