I ordered Kung Pao Chicken, and the chicken was just plain weird. Thin and rubbery. It was almost like eating pieces of cartilage. I sent it back and instead requested Shrimp Chow Mein. It was very mediocre. They gave me a cup of Hot & Sour to make up for problem — I appreciate that, but it was just good, not great. Food for me is 2 stars best, extra star for service — young guy with glasses who served me was terrific and very understanding. Younger kid without glasses is very nice but needs further training in serving. But I think it’s chef in the kitchen who really needs the training.

Love the food here! I’ve tried a lot of different dishes and rarely bump into something I don’t like! The salt and pepper spareribs are super delicious! People are friendly! Usually takes about 10 to 20 minutes to make and bring out the food depending on how much you order. The only reason it lost a star is because you have to spend a lot of money to get a combo of food. I read some other reviews and agree that there should be a combo plate option so that one doesn’t have to spend 30+ on a meal. Overall great food!!!

My kids love it. Price is amazing and the service is even better. I like their sweet sour soup and their kung pao chicken. My kids always have chicken chow mein.

Hands down the best Chinese Restaurant in the bay area. Michelle our waitress was very welcoming and constantly checking in with us. Amazing food quality and generous portions. Keep up the great service and highly recommend this place.

I’ve been here for lunch and dinner so many times. Love the food. Casual dinner and extended hours on the weekends. As a single guy i would love to see a dinner– for-one combo. Instead a single person needs to buy $ 30 + of food for a combo dinner. I wish(and I hope your listening owners) they would add it to their menu. «Dinner for the undecided» Includes: Sweet n sour pork Chow mien or rice Cashew chicken and Some type of appetizer(egg roll or one fried shrimp) Wouldnt that be great! I see too many single diners having to pick one or many ala carte entrees to make a combo meal. $$$. :-/. I just want a combo I can order and take out!

This place has been around for as long as I can remember. I can honestly say they’re one of the nicest people and restaurants in town. Now that’s out of the way, let’s hear about the food. I used to order Gin Mien(crunchy noodles with seafood sauce poured over) all the time. It’s exactly what it needs to be: crunchy, gravy, and full of flavor. Because I wanted to try new things, I’ve also gotten the specialty noodle soup and black bean chicken with haw fun. Both were amazing. Bottom line: they’re opened late which is a huge plus for people who can’t make it to any other places if they work past 9pm. Workers are all nice(the woman is the owner) and food is just as great. I’ve been coming here since 2011 and will continue to.

Tried this place once, thought it was good. I had to try them another time and now I am convinced this place is really really really good. The crispy chicken and Meow meow beef is my favorite. The soups are really good here. I love there hours too. This has gotta be the latest place open, I love this place . Plus its like just down the street from me. The location is perfect. The people that work here are so nice and friendly too.

Small portions when I ordered the three times for take-out. Not the best in flavor or freshness. I would dare say Panda Express has better consistency and taste… really quite disappointed. I think most of their business stems from being on the busiest corner of San Carlos and being a brightly lit obviously-Chinese food. It is only authentic that it is Chinese folks cooking the meal… it ends about there. Everything was overly saucey or smothered in salt and starch… I had their fried rice which was decent, but it’s hard to mess that up. The General’s Chicken was horrible and the chicken was quite rubbery. the beef as well did not taste fresh in my beef and broccoli. The vegetables looks sad and like they died a long long time ago. I only came here twice since it was so close by and open so late. I will not be back. Did not feel great after eating their food either.

The food here was OK but the service here was terrible. They looked at my friend and I funny just because of our age. They place other older customers over us, it’s been like an half an hour since we finished our food and we still haven’t got our check. Eat here if your over 27.

Last time I went here I got the the poo poo platter, it was really good. Today I got it again and it was even better! I also tired garlic shrimps with some rice. I love this place I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I like this restaurant. We came here last week for lunch, it was pretty empty, service was quick. Food was tasty and fresh. Server was friendly and willing to explain several authentic dishes on the menu. Will be back if ever in the area again

I should have done this years ago, but I’m getting kind of dotty. since my not-so-good review in 2009, I have been here quite a few times. In fact, this is our Chinese restaurant. They must have changed the chef, or changed ownership or something. The boss lady is always so nice and she knows us. The food is always good. I don’t know what more to say, other than ‘sorry for not doing this sooner’!

Ordered delivery through Unilocal and they were here well within the delivery estimated time. The lady who delivered was really nice and the food was hot. Their potstickers were actually the best I think I’ve had! Sooooo good, I really recomend them. Also ordered the basics: pork fried rice and chicken chow mein(I’m boring– I know) and they were also flavorful and tasty. Thanks King Chuan!

OK Chinese takeout here. Prices are reasonable but not dirt cheap. They charge extra for white rice. My favorite dish was the Kung pao chicken surprisingly. It had a good hot garlic sauce and a lot of peanuts. There was a fair amount of vegetables in the dish as well. The other two dishes we got weren’t quite as good. The chicken with garlic sauce wasn’t as flavorful. The twice cooked pork felt a bit gummy and wasn’t really that tasty.

Yum, yum, and yum! This is one of my favorite restaurants. I like to go in, but whenever I don’t want to cook — they’re the first place I think of. No matter what else I get, I always get my favorite appetizer, their stir fried wontons in spicy sauce. Not everyone likes it, because they don’t realize that there’s peanut butter in it — but that’s part of what makes it do danged delicious to me. And I get it extra hot too. The owner is an incredibly nice lady. She tries to say hi to every table is has the nicest smile. This clearly spreads to the rest of the staff. I pretty much have tried everything on their menu. Some of my go-to’s include the singapore noodles, King Chaun’s fried rice, and smoked pork with leeks. So far, the only thing I don’t like is their General Tso’s chicken. Theirs is too sweet for me. I know everyone does it differently, but it’s supposed to be more spicy than sweet in my opinion.

Came here for our semi«traditional» Christmas Eve dinner. Food seemed pretty good, but my Sichuan green beans tasted«off.» I couldn’t quite place what the heck it was. Nevertheless we ate and packaged up our left overs to take home. Two days later I reheated the Sichuan green beans in my microwave. On my 2nd or 3rd bite I got something extraordinarily chewy and REALLY nasty tasting. When I took it out of my mouth I found it was a cigarette filter! Absolutely disgusting. This place is on our 100% never give it a 2nd chance list.(See my uploaded photo of the cigarette filter I found in our Sichuan green beans.)

We stopped by for lunch on a weekend. The restaurant was pretty warm(it was quite hot outside). Rather empty place so we got seated immediately. Received complimentary soup and salad(both vegetarian). I enjoyed the salad, simple and refreshing. I ordered the eggplant dish. Overall, pretty good & cooked well. Personally could’ve used more flavor but nothing like hot sauce to make everything better. My lunch special also came with a veggie egg roll and that was delicious. The portion sizes are pretty good(my friend and I both had leftovers). Overall, of the Chinese food I’ve tried in San Carlos, I like this place and would come again

Based on 1 lunch @ the table: kung pao beef & a prawn lunch special. Thought the food was disappointing, main dish overly SALTY, fried rice was really steamed rice w/soy sauce & small bits of cha shu pork, the soup was ok — hot & sour, and the corn & egg version, egg roll was a shredded cabbage bargain variety. The little iceberg lettuce salad had a vinegar dressing with what appeared to be left over –whitish– bits of a head of lettuce. Left about 70% of the meal uneaten. Service was good. While it was a nice assortment of items for a «lunch special», none were very good. With such a prominent San Carlos location @ San Carlos Ave & Laurel, we mistakenly thought it would be great. With many other choices for lunch along Laurel Street, and Holy Street will cause me NOT to return to King Chuan.

Been here a handful of times. Service is good, food ok, prices good. Don’t care for their fried rice. Lemon chicken, pork chow fun are our favorites. Food comes out staggered, maybe cause the kitchen or kitchen staff isn’t 100 percent functional… usually it is ok but best if rice comes out at least with the first dish… We will go there again cause it is fairly close to our house and haven’t found a better Chinese food place yet.

Most of the time, Chinese food makes me feel greasy and heavy afterward. This did NOT happen at King Chuan! :O We(2 of us) came here for dinner and ordered the following: crispy duck, honey walnut prawns, fresh garden vegetables, and a small bowl of white rice. This came out to be about $ 40. Not bad. Pros: — Family-owned restaurant. Aunt Susan(part of the husband and wife duo) took our order. — We came at 8:30 pm on a Sunday night. No wait and plenty of tables open. — Brightly-lit. — Good food selection. — Complimentary hot tea. — We also got sweet and sour soup on the house, though this might have been because we arrived so close to closing time. XD — The honey walnut prawns were HUGE. — Duck was not oily and had a decent amount of meat. Cons: — There was a hair in our water. D: We had this replaced. — Because we were there so late, the staff didn’t check on our table very much. No one came to give us our check, so we went to the front to pay. — Entrees came out staggered, which has some benefits… But I kind of wish the rice came out first! Overall, I would eat here again! I think there’s another location in Mountain View(the original location). Looking forward to checking that out some other time!
