I just moved to the area & saw this place my 2nd day here. I asked the guys who helped me unload my truck where I could find some good menudo & one guy mentioned this place. Moving from the Dallas area & having eaten it from various places statewide, I wanted a good local place that serves it. After unpacking all day & needing a drive through, I decided to try it. I prefer to support mom & pop, hole in the wall places because I won’t eat at chain restaurants. Yes, I know there are several in SA area, but I think they’re independently owned. I was pleasantly surprised when they said that serve menudo daily. Generally this is a Saturday only treat. Having not gone to the grocery store yet, I then inquired about the breakfast menu. It is served all day. Super! I ordered my tacos for tomorrow morning! Menudo was yummylicious! Slightly more greasy than I prefer, but the flavor was wonderful. It almost had a gravy type flavor that I’ve never had before. They didn’t provide the onions & cilantro, but I didn’t ask assuming it came with it. Next time I’ll know! The corn tortillas were the best I’d ever had. They were thicjer, grilled & so good! I had half left over &1 tortilla, so lunch is covered for tmoro! I can remove the congealed greasy part before eating it. Win-win! Now I can’t wait for breakfast! The egg & bacon breakfast tacos are larger than I’ve normally seen, so I know it’s going to be equally as good. All in all, this was a great choice. Very authentic & flavorful. I’ll definitely go back.

This is where we get our steak and eggs, or our huevos rancheros on. Their sauces are so good! I think of this as more of a café, with the oomph of Sandra behind it. Fast friendly service, decent coffee, fresh tortillas. What else could you want for breakfast?

Carne guisadas have good flavor and very tender. The only complaint I have them is they have a lot of fat on the meat. I ordered some pork tamales and they didn’t have no taste. Thick masa and very little meat. Tortillas are soft and good.

Each Tink-a-Taco must be independently owned. This one has a very different menu from the big Tink on Fredericksburg Road. The service was fine and attentive enough, but the food was so-so. Very salty. The puffed taco was not the ‘puffed’ I’m used to. It seemed more deep-fried than puffed. I should have wondered when we were the only people in the restaurant, having met a couple leaving and not really looking happy.

By far the BEST barbacoa that I’ve ever had. All meat, no need for salt; and goes down the best with an ice cold big red. Lol also, the homemade tortillas top it all off.

Ok, so I am a snob… I haven’t been to T-a-T for quite a few years, used to go to the original one on Fredericksburg Rd and enjoyed it. It is closed so I went to this one and was less than impressed. The food was good, service was poor. Waited for the waitress to come by after she delivered the food because the meat tasted strange. She never did and I had to walk up to the counter. It was replaced without a problem but only time we saw her was when she dropped off the check. Maybe it was an off day, they weren’t busy — there was only 2 other tables in the place. I’ll try again, but probably not at this one.

Ohhh yeah $ 4.99 lunch special, FTW! If you’re dimes aren’t stretching as far as they used to and you’re just looking for a spot to nap some tasty but cheap eats, Tink-A-Taco is the place for you. With lunch plates at $ 4.99 that include a drink, you can almost bet you’ll find enough spare change in the couch cushions to have a meal here. And don’t worry if it’s dinner time, the specials only go up to $ 5.99 and still include a delicious sweet tea to wash down the goodness. Classic, cheap Tex-Mex with friendly servers and great chips and salsa. Win, win, win!
