The Texas Tan

Love this place! Great deals and the tan on sprays are legit! The staff is always super friendly and the rooms are always clean. There’s never a super long line to wait which makes this fast, easy, and convenient!

This is my first review. I am going to start reviewing, because I’ve had enough great and awful experiences that I think I should reward the great places and warn people about the bad places.
Texas Tan is the first tanning salon I’ve been to in Texas and the first I have been to since 4 years ago. All the salons I’ve ever been to have been excellent and many I would recommend, but not this one.
This salon is as good as most in terms of atmosphere, beds, cleanliness. However, my friend and I purchased 5 tans, which do not expire, we were given our military discount, the girl was informative and nice, and it seemed great. She told us which rooms we were in and said we would have 4 tans left after this session. When I went back, it turns out we were charged for 1 month of unlimited tanning, so the 4 sessions we thought we had left were expired.
Initially, the employee obviously thought I was at fault and I actually left, but I contacted my friend and we were on the same page, so I returned to talk to the employee. I was understanding about the situation, because I had no proof that we thought we were purchasing 5 tans except our word. With the discount involved we didn’t do the math to ensure we were charged for the correct package and the two packages are pretty similar in price, so the thought didn’t even cross my mind. That is our fault for not being thorough.
The lady extended our term by 30 days so we could use the last 4 sessions, but she said the system would not allow her to refund the difference between the packages (the unlimited was more expensive) or possibly she just didn’t believe me and didn’t want to refund the difference. I am not too concerned with a few bucks, but I am concerned that the problem couldn’t be entirely fixed or that she was so skeptical. I know it is hard to know who is just trying to get free stuff and who is actually honest, but there is no way that my friend and I would pay $ 50 for an unlimited month of tanning and only go once. I’m grateful our sessions were returned, but I won’t go back, because of all the tanning salons I’ve been to this is literally the only place that has ever given me any trouble. It was a simple mistake that anyone could make with an incomplete resolution that left me feeling distrustful of their business.

I used The Texas Tan services for two months. Angela is great and very helpful. She will go above and beyond to ensure customers are happy.
ROOM COMFORT: I didn’t like that the rooms are not carpeted. It would be much more comfortable to get undressed if the rooms at least had an area rug or something similar. It is not comfortable to take my shoes and socks off and have to stand on the cold, dirty floor.
INDOOR TANNING CONTROLS: There is no appropriate safe tanning regulations. If I go in for the first time and have fair skin, I would be allowed to go on the tanning bed as long as I want, up to the maximum time. New clients may not be aware of the dangers of tanning beds and there is nobody there that will properly advice or regulate.
DETACHED OWNER: I had an issue one day and requested to speak to the manager, Mr. Benavides. Another staff member, Amber said it was IMPOSSIBLE to talk to him, as she was the one to handle EVERYTHING. She also stated that Mr. Benavides did not talk to customers. I insisted on speaking with the OWNER, she continued to refuse. I went to Texas Tan Facebook page and emailed the owner, Mr Benavides. He never returned my message. What kind of an owner will make himself unavailable to a paying customer that asks a few minutes of his time? Especially if it concerns his business? That is an owner that does NOT CARE.

Extremely helpful and friendly! They answered all my questions on the phone so I went in and got a monthly packet! I’ve been satisfied with my experience there so far!

When I first started coming the inside was dirty and needed some work, but for the month that I tanned they cleaned the establishment and repainted. Of course, I had to ask them several times to clean their rooms and they never did so I brought my own cleaning supplies and did it myself because they always put me in the same room, room number 7.
All in all, the staff is extremely friendly. However, not all of them are informed on the products and services. They were newer girls though. Perhaps they are more informed now because this was back in February/​March. I still give them a five out of five and would recommend them. Oh, and their beds are somewhat dated, but do the trick.

They are fast, friendly, and there tanning beds are really nice. So far I’m very happy with my experience here. I recommend all my friends here just remember don’t try to tan to fast because burn means bad!!! Nice place!!!

I agree with the friendly staff however, some employees do not clean the beds very well. When you are laying in the bed, and see knee prints, finger prints on the top of the bed, it is considered dirty. They have lotion on their walls as well. It is hard to see with the dim lighting. Until they clean their beds thoroughly, I refuse to go.

Very nice atmosphere. Nice workers and pretty good equipment. Could use a larger selection of lotions and bronzers. Over all great experience!
