I came here on a Monday nite and was pleasantly surprised by the special they were offering: for $ 10 you get an alcoholic beverage and a food item off a limited menu. Although the menu was limited, it took my friend & I a very long time to decide what to get. Our drinks we ended up getting were a daiquiri & a French 75 which were both fabulous. I ordered the enchiladas which were three yummy veggie-stuffed delights. Who puts cauliflower, asparagus & spinach in an enchilada and makes it taste amazing? Old Main does! My friend ordered the concha burger and I was shocked at how delicious the flavor a were together. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about the concha bread but it was soft, not too bready, and had the perfect amount of sweetness to balance with the flavors of the burger. Steve, the manager, told us that they brine their own pickles & onions, which is why they taste so different from regular pickles. The burger also came with these wagon wheel-shaped chips and a slightly spicy sauce. My friend & I also tried the chicharron fries. While I don’t typically care for chicharrones, I didn’t mind these! The chicharrones were on top of the fries & chorizo gravy, and on top of the well-baked cheese, too, so you can easily pick them off if you don’t like chicharrones. If you haven’t done so already, check out this place! They have reverse happy hour on Saturday nites from 10pm-1am with $ 5 cocktails, and they have other specials as well. I will def be back on a Monday nite for that $ 10 special!

The space is small and they have been getting a lot of positive press so it was crowded the night we visited. The bartender seemed very stressed out and complained about the Saturday night crowd. We had to sit at the bar as no tables were available. Our cocktails seemed overly complicated and my girlfriend’s ended up tasting perfume like and mine was rather flat. The chicharon fries were a disappointment. The bagged chicharones on frozen fries with gravy and a burnt slice of cheese really seemed like dive food, rather than the crafted cuisine I was expecting. My fideo, which is a simple dish, came executed like beef ramen with a charred tomato in it. We left and picked up tacos at Chacho’s on the way home. I regretted walking past Caparelli’s on the way in.

The best… BEST French 77 I’ve had thus far! Server was busy so the bartender walked out from behind the bar to our table and took our drink order. Very nice. Had sweetbreads and sweetbread… deep fried sweetbreads with dipping sauce. I have to admit, I’m not a fan of entrails but these were delish. And also had the concha burger. Ah-mazing! I thought it be too sweet but the sweet-to-savory ratio was spot on! Definitely recommend this to others.

Came here with a friend who lives in san antonio. There were 6 of us. The place was not busy but there were still other people there having drinks or meeting with friends. Very casual yet artul and unique décor with dim lighting. We got grear service and attention from our server. We got to the place about 15 minutes before the reverse happy hour so we got to order from the main menu. We ordered the wings, mole fried chicken, empanadas and concha burger. The servings are not large but the are definitely filling. With what we ordered evwryone was satisfied. Everyone was super excited for how delicious the food was. I was hesitant of the concha burger but the concha gave a good sweet offset to the delicious beef patty with the pecan ailoli sauce. The drinks at reverse happy hour are great priced and the craft cocktails are well made and stiff. One of my friends was able to get a suggested drink(not on the menu) made with mescal and thai chili pepper. We are definitely rerurning for cocktails and food. We weree told by the server that the cocktail menu was changing next month and the food menu will change in April. I highly recommend anyone looking for a low key night out to come check this place out.

This place is worthy of a couples night out! Great atmosphere, intimate seating, and the drinks make everyone feel warm and fuzzy. Come in on a Monday! You’ll enjoy $ 10 mostly all entrees and a drink — which is a steal! The food at Old Main Assoc. is different — who throws sweet bread on top of beef? Well they did it, and did it right! I was also apprehensive to try it but I can definitely recommend the Concha Burger, the savory juice from the beef mixed with cheese throws off the sweet flavor from the bread. It comes with pinwheel wheel chips topped w hot sauce! — my grandma called these«duros». I also recommend the Bangers & Kraut, its a flavor explosion with pickled cabbage and other veggies. I have tried the veggie enchiladas, where mushrooms substitute the beef. I wasn’t a big fan. The corn tortilla was rough and split open. The service has never been consistent in my opinion. The drinks! A+ Come here and bring a date! Kudos for serving Lonestar ;)

I must admit, I didn’t want to eat here. The menu seemed weird and I successfully avoided going here for many months despite my husband’s frequent requests. Alas, tonight was the night and I begrudgingly went. WOW. The mole fried chicken was one of the best things I have ever eaten. Ignore the airplane food tray it is served on and just enjoy the goodness that is. The concha burger is also excellent, as was the kale and squash salad. And they made our daughter a plain piece of fried chicken, which she loved. You also can’t beat hh until 7. Definitely coming back.

Pretty overrated restaurant for being one of the star dishes in San Antonio for 2015. The Concha Burger was on the front page of the food section of the San Antonio Express News, which gave us incentive to try it. More of a bar than a restaurant, but the $ 10 deal for a drink and an entrée was a great idea. Overall neat cocktails, but skip the infamous burger and get the Bangers & Kraut!

Famous burger is good but not as large as you would think. Portions are small even the fideo. Drinks are great. Service for large group still needs help.

Amazing. Chill atmosphere and a definite foodie paradise. Chef Lorenzo is cooking up things from Fried Chicken Mole to the famous Concha Burger. Affordable for it being an upscale dining destination.

Want it to be good, but not convinced yet. So I guess I was wanting pig, but I ordered the pig ears and the pork rinds came w burger, but neither hit my pork needs. The pig ears w cauliflower was interesting. The cauliflower was good, the ears were weird. Needed more crispness and more salt, less chewiness. The pork rinds that came w burger were overly manufactured and plastic looking. Also ordered the squash salad which was nothing more than kale with a puréed squash mush on top. Needed some goat cheese green onion w a vinagarette. Love the place. Atmosphere is fabulous and drinks were good, just not sure of the food… yet.

This is my new fav place. The concha burger on pan de huevo is ingenious, makes me so proud of my culture & yet so jealous that I didn’t think of this @ the same time.. . For the ladies I suggest the glass jaw drink. The ambience is a plus!

Bruuhhhhhhh! Lol I posted pictures everywhere of my concha burger and this was the response I got from dozens of people lol. So many of my friends from different states suddenly became that much more excited to visit me haha. Now, I am not big on burgers, let alone beef.(I met this cute cow once). But when I saw on Facebook that there was such a thing as a concha burger AND it was in San Antonio I had to try it. I have to say that the concha burger is the most amazing thing I have ever eaten and I didn’t even feel bad about it lol. This has just became my new favorite spot and I want this burger every time I come!

Just stopped in to try something new and they did not dissapoint!!! The concha burger was very different but surprisingly delicious. I wasn’t a big fan of the veggie enchaladas but my wife loved them. They were working on their menu so the enchiladas took a long time, but the manager was very friendly and brought us some fideo, which was fantastic!!! All in all very worth going back and trying their brunch menu.

I stopped by Old Main with a friend of mine for happy hour and some snacks, and I was pretty impressed! The ambiance is fresh, yet intimate — I really enjoyed the energy there and the attentive service. I had two really awesome drinks that I sadly can’t remember the names of, but both were recommendations made by my server. I tried the much buzzed about concha burger too! Verdict: pretty damn good, but the bread gets way soggy like almost immediately. I had to end up using my silverware): Despite the soggy bun, I’d say definitely give Old Main a try if you’re looking for a new place to catch up with friends.

Not a bad little place. A limited menu, but what I saw and what we ordered, they do seem to do it up right. Some folks seated to the left of us had the concha burger. I’ll work my way up to that, but not tonight. I ordered the pork and beans, the husband had the bangers and kraut(which also come with potatoes). The beans are served in an unlabeled pork and bean can. The server then pours the contents onto your plate. Pork and beans, sliced radish, sprouts and a goodly amount of fork-tender pork shoulder. Tasty. Monday’s are a deal. You can get a signature drink which are usually $ 8 and an entrée(they run about $ 11) for $ 10. Not a bad deal. Monday’s only. We had the Paloma and Doxycycline, both tequila-based. The Paloma was the better drink. The latter one way strong and spicy. I don’t think I will make this place a habit, but I would return. Service is very good.

Red alert! They have happy hour from 5 – 7, even on Saturday! Fancy drinks for $ 5 and I believe beer and wine were on a discount too. I had a French 75 and another gin drink; both were tasty. I would absolutely return for cocktails, especially for happy hour. My one complaint is that the menu is pretty limited and foodie-oriented. Luckily our server was very patient and helpful at explaining the menu. FYI, the«carnival sweet breads» is not foodie lingo for funnel cake… I am a wings and nachos type of person so the menu did not appeal to me, but my husband loved the food. They have fried chicken on the weekend and I plan to go back and try that.

Like everyone, I had the concha burger, but I also had the mollejas, and a couple cocktails. When asked if you want bacon on the burger SAYYES– the bacon is served atop the burger in thick cut chunks and only adds to the savory and sweet of the burger. The Mollejas were just as good– but the portion was a little small for my taste. The cocktails were strong and worth every dollar though. Id definitely recommend this place for a trendy date night out!

Well the concha burger was soooooo good. I think what made it taste different from other burgers(aside from its on pan dulce) was the combination of the sweetness of the bread and the hamburger meat all coming together with cheese and bacon. Mmmmmm

Excellent addition to Monte Vista. Wonderful food, drinks, and service. I had the Palmetto and TBD and both were spot on. Overall, very impressed with this establishment.

My had the concha burger which had unique flavors because of the sugary bun. The burger part of it was good as well. My bf had the pork and beans. The waitress came out with a can and dumped it on the plate leaving an interesting arrangement. The pork shoulder was nice and lean however the beans could’ve been better. Initially, I was very confused by the business because our IDs needed to be checked upon walking in and we had to order food and drinks at the bar, while we had waiters bring water and food. I had to start a tab for my food and have my ID checked again.
