It has some of the best and freshest bread I have ever had. The staff is very friendly and very good at keeping up with everything. The breakfast sandwich was amazing and the fresh made English muffins are spectacular. It is a little hard to find but defiantly a must go if you want a good breakfast/brunch or even lunch place.

We read about this place in Edible San Antonio magazine and the reviews were spot on! This is an absolutely adorable setting with some of the friendliest staff I’ve seen in San Antonio. I had the brisket and short rib burger… One word… Amazing! One of the best burgers I’ve had in a VERY long time. Each bite was tastier with an explosion of flavor and nice balance of sweet(sautéed onions) and savory. Absolutely phenomenal and a must try. All made on their in-house made bun. I also had some of the breakfast club which is made on their homemade English muffin– amazing as well, but the burger again is on par with the best I’ve ever had. We finished with a Bambino Huey, which was a special dessert of the day. The staff told us about the history of this dessert in San Antonio and I now know why everyone in this city has a soft spot in their hearts for this amazing creation. We will without a doubt be back and anyone who likes a good burger has to try their version… It may end up being your new favorite in San Antonio.

This place was AMAZING! Our waiter was as friendly as can be and the food was delicious. They had amazing sandwiches and the birthday cake was to die for. We sat outside on the porch with our dog for their lunch and really enjoyed it! So happy we found a place with amazing food that allows dogs on their porch! Would highly recommend to anyone.

Ordered a cake for our daughter’s graduation and it was a big hit with everyone. The icing was perfect. The body of the cake was moist. We asked for flowers and they were beautiful. The price was way below orhers. I recommend The Bread Box to everyone. Tina went out of her way to make this happen. She even delivered it to Mi Tierra so that we didn’t have to pick it up. The Bread Box makes fresh bread to many restaurants. They know what they’re doing. Thank you for making our daughter’s graduation a memorable event.

Great healthy lunches available here and yummy dessert. They close at 3 — so you can basically only have lunch here or an early dinner. Either way, I love all the healthy options and fresh ingredients.

The Bread Box is an awesome little hidden Breakfast & Lunch gem! Nestled in a quaint and charming setting, you’ll find yourself in love with the creative twist to their simple, but delightful taste of their food. The menu isn’t extensive(often better that way), but it surely pleased our taste buds with such items as the Roasted Beet Rueben on home made Marble Rye bread and the fantastic and fresh Lemon Dill Chicken Salad w/Citrus Ginger vinaigrette. The service was great and we enjoyed their shaded outdoor patio tremendously! We can’t wait to come back and try other items on the menu.

What a charming little bistro/bakery! I went for breakfast with my daughter and was delighted with the atmosphere, staff, service, and food. I ordered the bread pudding french toast and it was decadent and very filling. The blueberry muffin was a hit with my 2 year old, as was the décor — they had pink chairs — a little girl’s dream! Breakfast menu is a bit limited and it would be nice to see 2 or 3 more options, but as we were the only people there on this particular morning I imagine it makes sense to keep it small until the breakfast crowd grows. I hear it’s packed during the afternoon, and after seeing the lunch menu I can see why! I also came home with two loaves of freshly baked bread and house-made english muffins, which were split and toasted upon arriving home. Rich, buttery, and flakey — almost as if a croissant and an english muffin had a baby. So good!

Breakfast Sandwich: $ 9.00 –English muffin: Soft not even the corners were slightly toasty, tasteless– no flavor, Soggy because it had too much butter. Not sure if they put melted butter on to cook on griddle before serving but it had way too much butter. –Egg: cooked with too much butter, too greasy. –½ bacon in sandwich. –grated cheese –lettuce –tomato –side of fruit.

This place is adorable. Walking around the different shops makes me feel like I’m in a whole other city. My friend and I got a bit lost wandering around but it was fine with us. We got to see the bakers at work from outside. Their bakery has glass windows so you can see all the breads being made. There was only one other table when we got there around 9am on Saturday. We immediately ordered the breakfast sandwich and bread pudding French toast. Our server was really kind, chatting to us about the business and the different breads they make. At the end of our meal she brought over a basket of bread and asked if we wanted to purchase some. I wasn’t too crazy about that but it was nice that she brought it over to show us what they had. The food was really good. I especially loved the honey English muffin. The fruits were fresh too. I also like the bread pudding French toast even though I don’t normally eat either. I would order the sandwich again but probably hold off on the toast. Although it was all tasty, I think it was a little pricey(especially with the small portions). With the generous Unilocal discount, I thought our bill turned out ok though. I’ll be back in the future to visit for sure. I really liked those honey English muffins and will be back to purchase more!

I was very excited to try the potential of this bakery. I’m always open minded when tasting a new sweets location. The bread pudding was not the best I’ve ever had and the pecan pie brownie was forgettable. Oh well… I won’t return. I’m adding to my review. I just tried the birthday cake… this was possibly the most dense and flavorless cake I’ve ever eaten. The icing was not made with butter, they made the icing with shortening. Terrible. $ 17 I’ll never get back. Hostess cupcakes would have been more satisfying. Too bad I love a good bakery.

This is a great breakfast and lunch spot hidden in Artisans Alley. They make their own bread, which is the premise of their restaurant. My mom goes there about once a week, and she has been trying to get me to go with her for the longest time. I finally went with her today, and now, I know why she goes so much. Their chicken salad sandwich is on point. There is little mayo and lots of chicken and celery and nuts. It’s on this fluffy bread with poppyseeds… I think. We also ordered the carrot potato curry soup of the day. I was skeptical at first, but it was delicious. It wasn’t too runny or too thick. It was really flavorful and hit the spot. My mom also buys their English muffins once a week. They are homemade and have honey as a main ingredient. You have to check this place out !

Love love love this place. It’s kinda tricky to find, since it’s back in the Alley on Bitters, but once you get back there you’ll be glad you did! All of their bread is house-made, along with many of their ingredients(like their sauerkraut for their Beet Reuben). Their coffee is tasty, the atmosphere is perfect for chilling for awhile, and the food is bomb. I tried the Baker’s Lunch, and added on the Beet Reuben because I was so interested in this veggie version! I’ve never had a regular reuben with meat, but this one was certainly delicious. I could eat this sandwich every day of my life. I also tried their potato dill soup — perfection — and their house salad. My husband had their bread pudding french toast, which he enjoyed. They also have tons of yummy desserts and sweet breads to choose from, and all of them looked divine. We chose a muffin(which my husband liked but he said it wasn’t his all time favorite — I really liked it but it was more like a cake than a muffin I think) and their German Chocolate cupcake which was the special of the day. It was filled with a chocolate ganache… yummmmm! The staff here are all super friendly, and the bakers are active on Instagram to show off their current features. Definitely check this place out for a perfect little breakfast, brunch, or lunch!

Chalking The BB as another personal fave! Their flavors are light and enjoyable. For instance, my brunch bunch and I tried this lemon donut dream(they didn’t call it ‘dream’ I’m calling it a dream) and it was filled with this sort of lemon crème and dusted with a light lemon sugar. It was pretty substantial so the two donuts ordered were split among seven people. The moment we took a bite our whole table got quiet. Eyes rolled to the backs of their heads. Yes, I kid you not. It was that good! I opted for their granola and at first blush, it looked like I wouldn’t have gotten full but I did. It was deceiving! It was topped with yogurt, melon slices, & a strawberry. My babygirl opted for the French toast of which we found out that the BB uses their bread pudding for it. Great call! As it definitely gave the French toast a flavor and mouthfeel that was at a completely different level. The service was excellent — every employee we came in contact with was friendly and inviting. The café itself is clean and homey(I adore the egg carton ceiling!) And if you plan on meeting friends here like I did or perhaps it’s just a lazy afternoon for ya, then you can definitely kill some time perusing the shops at the Artisan before or after your visit.

The Bread Box is a cute hidden gem in the Artisan Alley, if you get lost look for their little map or walk towards Copalli Café(they’re neighbors). We popped in for brunch and there were many seating options and a lovely display of their made from scratch breads and desserts, lots of samples too! Service was fast and friendly but we had to pay at the register where there is a lot of traffic. The food and pastries I sampled were all very good. My tuna nicoise was light and tasty, the bread it was paired with was moist and pillowy, everything paired well. My lunch special was served with potato chips, you can substitute a salad or soup for $ 2. I’d return to try their split pea and ham soup and other menu items.

A place that bakes 33 kinds of bread a week you say??? We are in! Thus started the idea of meeting people on a Saturday for breaky and what a trip it was. This is a place in The Alley best described as having country chic décor. Walking in you are greeted with a stack of cakes, cinnamon rolls, breads and other baked goods with small irresistible samples and super welcoming and friendly staff to boot. We were seated quickly, all questions answered with a smile and a bread tasting arranged with speed. Now on to the food. We ordered a great smattering of different things and everything was excellent with the standout for me being the beet Rueben. Yes, I said beet! This was just a wonderfully conceived and executed sandwich with the sweetness of the thinly sliced roasted beets, contrasting beautifully with the tangy sauerkraut, and the cheese adding the perfect touch of fattiness all enveloped in an excellent marbled rye with the caraway seeds adding the perfect touch of earthiness to the bites. The burger was a touch overcooked, but still quite flavorful. The breakfast sandwich while mildly plebian, but elevated with the excellent English muffin and perfectly scrambled eggs inside. The baked goods were fantastic from the excellent carrot cake to the buttery pecan bars that were taken to the top being served a la mode. Bacon donuts were a good eat with the donuts being more like rolls that were made with brioche adding the perfect buttery bite to complement the salty hit of bacon. All in all an excellent start to the day.

Are you looking for a cozy spot to grab lunch alone or with a group of friends? Well look no further because The Bread Box is the perfect place. The atmosphere is very serene and brings a feeling of tranquility and cleanliness. They have comfortable bistro style tables and booths to choose from upon availability. You are welcomed and acknowledged by the staff as soon as you walk in. Service is 100 percent spot on! The owner and staff all work together to make sure your drinks are refilled, and that you are satisfied with your service and visit. The food is quite delicious! I went in for lunch and ordered a Brisket and Short Rib Burger complete with a side of potato chips. The bread is baked in the heart of the establishment and the burger is packed with overall freshness and wholesomeness. I paired my lunch with a Mexican Coke and it completed my satisfaction! MOSTIMPORTANTLY: Save room for dessert. All desserts and pastries are baked fresh here and will not disappoint! I tried the Caramel Apple Pie and my oh my, it was decadent! You also have the choice of having it warmed up and à la mode. Other pastries I saw available are muffins, wedding/birthday cake, pecan bars, and much more! They also serve Merit Coffee(Local Coffee brand) to pair perfectly with a pie or cake. Give this place a try for lunch and then go shopping at the local vendors at The Artisan Alley. A fun and peaceful experience!

I have discovered my new most favorite place to eat. Jan 22, a friend and I visited The Bread Box for the first time. OMG! Super Friendly service, Clean and Fun atmosphere, AND the Food was Devine. Every last bite was unique and savory. We had the Turkey Club and Chicken pesto, split pea soup rocked, soup of the day was exotic, and we shared a carrot cake slice. We both left blessing this new found treasure and can’t wait to bring all our friends. Thank you, for a great experience! Woohoo. God Bless this place.

Fantastic food and people. We walked in and were told we could sit where we wanted. We were served by one of the owners, which doesn’t happen at the larger chains. Service was fast and the food was AMAZING. When the food came to the table it looked like something off food network or out of a magazine. All ingredients were obviously fresh(my strawberries didn’t have so mush as a blemish on them). We ended up taking some cake, cinnamon rolls and a loaf of bread wot go which were also amazing. Although we live clear on the other side of town from this restaurant, we will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!
