I have been here multiple times. They have daily specials on the board when you walk in, quick service, and excellent food. I have yet to have a bad experience here. They are also open for breakfast, and they serve some excellent breakfast tacos. Easily a choice to go back again.

Roasted salsa is the bomb digity! Huge portions and great value. This is my go to for anyone visiting Lackland. Service is stellar even at busy lunch time. I highly recommend the chicken enchilada plate!

So I was In town for five days, and I ate here every day. Breakfast is awesome! I can’t wait until I’m back in town.

This place is a hit. We love coming here because the food is amazing, specially the tacos, and the ladies that work here regularly are always so nice. They do have some of the BEST tacos in San Antonio, that I have tasted so far from a Mexican Restaurant, not counting taco stands. If you order to go, ALWAYS make sure your order is correct before you leave. That’s pretty much the only downside. Other than that the food is amazing and so is the service.

Passing through San Antonio towards Houston and found this with 4 stars and 2-miles off the freeway. Great food all around and free tortillas with any meals. Overall good experience.

Default San Antonio flavor that I was expecting, but they have a «roasted» hot salsa option that is extra delicious. The tortillas are obviously homemade, and perfect. After eating the $ 5.99 lunch special(great price!), I was full into the evening due to the large portions. Refried beans had excellent flavor, great location. Atmosphere is neutral, which is great for a lunch… I don’t necessarily need a «theme» when I get lunch.

I was so happy with this establishment until tonight! I’ve always ordered the asada tacos and a Mexican Coke. Tonight I ordered a dinner, the enchiladas verde. I was enjoying my beans and rice, ate one of the three enchiladas. Got to my second enchilada and it had a big piece of cooked plastic in it, hair and a twig. When I brought this to the attention of the waitress she tried to say that the plastic was an onion peel and the twig was spices. I’m a cook so I know better and I disagreed with her. We will not be returning!!! I think it’s time to call the health department on this place.

I was not impressed at all. When we arrived for lunch the parking lot was completely full. To me this usually means the place is pretty good. That was not the case here. I had the #21(gordita) plate. It was a mess. The gordita tasted kind of stale. Just very plain. The rice and beans were fine, on par with just about every Mexican restaurant in the area. I will probably give this place another try just based on the number of great reviews on Unilocal but my first experience was not good at all.

Breakfeast tacos are fantastic! Try the Horchata also. I rode around nearby here to other restaurants to see if they had it, and to my surprise they didn’t. Great overall though!

Wow I’m stuffed! This place fueled us up for a day at sea world. Portions are HUGE you can definitely share a plate. Prices are cheap and service was great. They told us if we wanted to call ahead they would have our order ready. Menu had pictures so it was very helpful. Tip: corn tortillas were awesome homemade!

I love this place!!! Their food is amazing, and its a great value. I went for dinner a bunch of times, and lunch once… Its A LOT busier at lunch than dinner. I usually got the Parradillo(I think number 32) Its a huge meal, and it comes out hot and sizzling with fresh tortillas, guac, rice and beans. The flavors, the freshness, its all there!!! I have also had the burrito plate a couple times, its huge and very hot, fresh and delicious as well. I went with some guys that got the Tortas and loved them, and also stopped thru for breakfast one day and the tacos were so good and really cheap!!! Do not judge this book by its cover, its worth the stop!!!

«Don’t judge a book by it’s cover» applies in this case. I was pleasantly surprised. After driving by this restaurant numerous times, I finally decided I needed to know why the parking lot is slammed during lunch. And I wasn’t sent running scared without looking back… I ordered chicken tacos and my lunch date ordered a combination fajita platter thing… I forget what it’s called. Both came out quickly, steaming hot and smelling wonderful. I hear they make their corn tortillas, and it seems they make their flour as well… AMAZING. The chicken was pretty good; the tacos come deconstructed so it’s up to you what goes on the chicken. I enjoyed the refried beans very much, maybe the best I’ve had. Oh, and the salsa’s pretty spicy :-) The shrimp on my companion’s plate was okay, the chicken and beef were better. The entire platter only came with 2 tortillas… Odd, but not a game-changer. Tons of meat on each of our plates and not enough vegetables! Although I suspect we’re the only people in Texas complaining… Portions are huge and the prices are low. Service is quick. Our waitress was sweet, I don’t have any complaints. Although, we were, literally, her only customers. If you come for a late lunch you can expect peace and quiet.

This is a solid taqueria and my go-to Mexican place for visitors to my office on Lackland. They have a wide selection, and everything is good and inexpensive. Their chili is excellent, but they don’t have it very often(I’ve never managed to crack the code on when it’s available). Day to day, this is a great place to pick up breakfast tacos to go. I’d say this is where most people on base get their fix. Of note, this is one of the few places that actually makes its own corn tortillas.

Don’t be scared away by the outward appearance. This place was amazing. I had the green enchiladas. Honestly, best enchiladas I’ve ever had. The food seems to all be made by hand, which of course only makes it better. Coming here next time for sure.

Best breakfast tacos on the South East side, hands down. You can get 3 for around $ 5. I know there’s places where you can probably get 5 or 6 for that much, but the quality won’t be there. These tacos are like full meals in themselves. I really like there carne guisada, potato and egg and barbacoa. I really like places that serve barbacoa during the week and it’s a plus when it’s good. This place has that covered. I use the drive thru mostly when I go here and it’s usually pretty speedy. The tacos are wrapped well and the foil can be neatly peeled, for eating in the car. That’s a plus, since I’m usually on the go. I’ve dined in a couple of times as well, with my family. That’s a great experience as well. The service is always super friendly and the dining area clean. Free chips and salsa is always great and the food is hot. I’ve had their menudo and it’s up there on my list of favorites. #1 of course being my grandma’s. Nowhere has ever or probably will ever come close to that one. I’m really glad the old Pig Stand closed down and made way for this spot.

For the price, it almost deserves another star. But there’s nothing really special about the food at «Jalisco,» as me and my cotwerkers call it. It’s just basic, unpretentious tex-mex, and it gets the job done. So I ain’t mad at it! Service is fast, you get free chips and salsa, AND if you get the lunch special, iced tea is included for $ 5.99. So I want to give it another star… but…I’m just not excited enough about it.

Well I would say Unilocal let me down on this one. Maybe it’s me or maybe I’m not a fan of Mexican, but the food was greasy, the place was extremely hot, the flies were large and after I had to start fighting them for the food, I let them have it. The food was affordable or cheap but I guess sometimes you get what you pay for. Surprisingly, I went to the River walk right after and saw people eating outdoors, enjoying their meals and couldn’t understand why they weren’t fighting the flies for their food like at Taqueria… Needless to say after the flies kept swooping in for the chips, I figured they could have them. WOULDNOTRETURN.~

I’ve been in SA for 2 days and have already hit up 4 taquerias. This place is the best yet. You can tell its a good place when you taste the salsa. I went out on a whim and ordered menudo… damn good. Can’t wait for tomorrow to have the breakfast tacos with that mighty fine chile.

Well, I’ve found my ‘regular’ Mexican restaurant during my time in San Antonio. I’ve been here five times so far, and four times I walked out saying that was the best Mexican meal I’d had in awhile… If you’re looking for something fancy, move on. If you want delicious Mexican food, served cheap in a building that looks like it was once a Pizza Hut, you’re in luck!!! The staff is friendly and efficient, the chips usually beat you to your table, and the salsa is great. I wish I could just pick up this place and relocate it to near my home on the east coast…
