Mexican plate was worth it. Saturday they have karaōke from 6−9pm. So that was interesting because they were an older crowd signing songs from way back country

I was curious about this little hole in the wall taqueria which used to be a Las Palapas after passing by on several occasions. I stopped by here after work and ordered a Mexican Coke and 2 carne guisada tacos and a barbacoa taco. The barbacoa taco was impressive and didn’t have any fat or grease and the carne guisada tacos were among the best! I’d say Tequila’s carne guisada is a tad better than La Perla. The service at Tequila however could’ve been a little better though however I’ll still make a return trip in the future.

Consistently good. Their specials are probably the best I’ve seen, yet. Pretty busy around 10:00 a.m.

A clean restaurant is of most important to me. So normally I look around to check thing out but I guess this place looks ok, the ceiling vents where moldy and dusty. Nothing really special just another Mexican restaurant. Food was okie dokie. Waitress was nice. Prices ok. Will I be back? Maybe.

I’m a sucker for a good bean and cheese taco. Mashed beans, real cheese and a nice warm flufffy tortilla are all that I really care and ask for. Yet, so many places get this so wrong! Tequila gets this very right! And is the main reason I keep coming back. That and cheap food. Everything else on the menu is mediocre. Pretty much a hit or miss place depending on the time of day. Underwhelming too tart lemonade and a under kept restaurant inside is a bit of a downside. But fast service and a drive true are always wins in my book!

Good place for breakfast tacos. Can get a variety of 16 for $ 16.40 and that includes tax. So if you are trying to feed a hungry crew some breakfast…

Been eating here for a good long while, and I must say that the food can be a little hit and miss depending on who the kitchen crew is, but for the money it really is a great place. The pozole is constantly outstanding as are the puffy tacos and I really love the gorditas too. The sauce served with the chips is a cooked sauce and is again hit and miss depending on the kitchen crew. My absolute favorite are the home made corn tortillas… haven’t found better ones yet! Again for the price this place is worth the trip!

Decided to cruise the Southside one day in search of some good breakfast food. Saw this place and there were cars all over the place to include a couple of firetrucks. I figured either they gave a nice discount to civil servants or the food is awesome. I was hoping it was the food. Well, we were seated quickly and I ordered my usual Carne Guisada and cheese taco plus a chorizo and bean taco. Here is the breakdown: CG& Cheese: Meaty, but sauce was a little runny. The flavors didn’t come together like I would expect and in fact, it tasted like it might have just been cooking for an hour or so. Good CG has to simmer for a long time so the flavors all come together and the meat is melt in your mouth tender. Chorizo & Bean: The beans were tasty. Didn’t have a greasy taste and were definitely homemade. The chorizo tasted a little cheap and by that I mean it seemed to have more filler than actual meat and spices. The tortillas left a lot to be desired and you know that a good percentage of a taco’s success depends on the tortilla. If you are in the area, try this place out and share what you think. My opinion is that I will keep trying other places before I would ever come back here.

I’ve always had a penchant to want to try«mom & pop» type restaurants, and here in SA, you’ll find the greatest Mexican food in exactly those types of establishments. Such is the Case with Tequila Jalisco. Now, I don’t spend a ton of time on the South side of town, but my job brings me down there a couple times a week. One night, dinner time, and I drove past and decided I would try it. It’s a simple unassuming place, as most are, but I have to say I have been very impressed. The first time I was in, I had to try the Chile Relleno. Outstanding! Benas and rice were pretty standard… but probably my favorite was the tortillas. The were as «homestyle» as it gets… they had abuelita(little grandma for those who don’t do Spanish) written all over them. I was also a big fan of the hot sauce that they serve before the meal. It’s wonderful! It’s more like a ranchero sauce than a traditional salsa, but it has a great flavor about it. Not incredibly spicy, but good nonetheless. With the meal there’s another, a salsa verde, that is served. Good and hot. Timmy like. The next time I went in, I grabbed a giant burrito with chicken fajita meat. Again, very good(but next time, maybe something a little more traditional). There is nothing on the menu more than nine bucks, so that definitely figures into my 4 star rating. Both times I have gone I have paid about the same amount I would doing a drive by at a burger place. It’s a nice change of pace. Now, this isn’t the healthiest food around, but at the same time I did not feel as if my arteries were going to form a lynch mob asnd come after me for the beating I had just given them. Overall I have to say that the service is very good as well. I was amazed both times at how quickly my food was brought out to me. The servers seem to be very sweet, but a word of caution… if you no habla Espanol, you might be in trouble! Tonight’s outing netted me a server with worse English than my Spanish, so I had to do my best to get the numero veinte y cuatro, y te(un grande te). Don’t let that scare you away though, if it does, you’re missing out.
