This is a solid Mexican Joint! The food is good but not remarkable. The service is good but not great. The salsa is good but again nothing special. But in San Antonio’s consistent barrage of Mexican/Tex Mex Restaurants, this place stands out for just being consistent. My wife is originally from Mexico. I am a Gringo. We travel Mexico a LOT! This is a good stop. Nothing awful, nothing awesome…

Been here two times — it’s spacious but kinda boring, like a cafeteria. The food is cheap and also tastes cheap. Overall: meh. It’s close and fast so it becomes easy.

I’ve dined here numerous times and have also had numerous to-go orders. Most of the staff is very friendly. I think there is a language barrier that holds this restaurant back from excelling. Food is quite good *most of the time* but today my breakfast plate lacked flavor. No salt or other seasoning whatsoever. Their prices have crept up quite a bit over the past couple of years as well. Not a very budget hole in the wall anymore.

Disappointing! The flavors were just not there. Maybe we ordered the wrong plates too. The chicken enchilada was bland, no more than 2 pieces of chicken, refried beans were bland and dry, asked for flour tortillas twice, which came with the dish, never got them, rice was dry, service was slow.

$ 9 for asada mini tacos to-go! Wow I have never seen mini tacos go for that price at a «taqueria.» When my food was ready and packed up the girl asked in disbelief, «I charged you already?» Uhhhh yes b****, you did. After I said yes she said«OK I’m trusting you» with plenty of attitude. Whatever. The tacos were lacking in flavor and didn’t taste very fresh. The cup of beans was half filled and sucked, too. Drive further down West Ave. until your inside the loop for some REAL taquerias. This place is a joke.

Maybe we ordered the wrong things. Maybe I’m missing something here. I got the enchilada verde dinner special and my hubby got the chicken fajitas with a corona. First, we were served what seemed to be bagged tortilla chips, salsa, and Velveeta cheese. Yes. Velveeta. In a Mexican establishment. We decided to keep going with our dinner and my hubby ordered his Corona. When he received it, it was luke warm. Not a good sign. Our meals arrived on piping hot plates, although nothing seemed to be actually hot. My enchiladas verdes seemed to be covered in salsa verde, but it did not taste homemade. My rice was chilly, while my beans were closer to warm. My husband had a similar experience. When my husband opened up the tortillas, the top one had an odd light pink substance on it. Our waitress seemed ok. I’m not sure. She didn’t really try to make any conversation other than, «you need anything else» when she served our food. We ate it. It was bad. We would have rather had Taco Bell.

This place has the best reviews in my area. I was really hoping it was going to be fantastic. I ordered the Carne Asada plate. The flour tortillas are homemade and excellent! Beans were well flavored and good, the nopales really good and even though I don’t like vegetables in my rice, the rice was good. Unfortunately the Carne was so salty I couldn’t eat it. They also didn’t cut it at all. The serving was generous too… just wish I could have enjoyed it.

This has become a go-to for my me and my SO. Servers are always fast and friendly and the food never disappoints. Brought my very discerning father-in-law here from Mexico City and it earned his approval. Added bonus– huge plates for the price! Check it, you will not be disappointed.

Came with my boyfriend on a busy Sunday morning. Walked in and found a booth and was greeted immediately and the waitress took our drink order. Received our drinks, chips and salsa so fast. Our order came out in perfect timing and everything was so delicious. Even though this place was so busy, the waitresses are so friendly and fast. Don’t let this hole in the wall fool you, it’s amazing

Great place and good prices. For just a little over 20 we had charro beans, a huge taco bigger than a burrito, and a couple more tacos. Beer and Michelada. The tacos were ok, I recommend the charro beans and Michelada. Also a 4.99 taco norteño is really good, I couldn’t finish it. When we went they had just a couple of customer so service was good.

First review of 2015! However this visit took place in 2014, nevertheless here it is! There are many Mexican food places here in San Antonio. This is the capital of Tex Mex, but that isn’t all that there is. Taqueria Jalisco makes authentic South-of-the-Rio Grande style food and at a great price. I went in there for lunch with my son and got us some take away. The daily special was tacos al carbon, a favorite of mine and it came with borracho beans and rice. I got my little boy the child’s taco plate, and his came with refried beans rice. Everything was delicious and the meals were very affordable. The meat was well seasoned and they made their own flour tortillas. I will have to see if they do the same with the corn tortillas. I fed the both of us for less than $ 10. Another great thing about this place is that it is within walking distance from my place, which brings me to the happy problem of having so many good eateries within a half mile from my door. I look forward to trying some of their other menu items, and also ordering corn tortillas instead of flour.

Good breakfast tacos and good salsa. Used to stop here more frequently when I dropped my daughter at Churchill. They have a special on weekdays.

Amazing for breakfast. Authentic Jalisco style food. I was a student at a university couple of hours from Brownsville. The Mexican breakfast places used to serve the most authentic and delicious food. This place in San Antonio resembled that style the most.

Have been coming here for years. Any restaurant that makes their own corn tortillas or even flour tortillas has my respect and deserves a visit, I believe. Expect to have a mostly spanish speaking staff. I have noticed that there is an older folk breakfast club that frequent the place. Prices are very reasonable and portions are very good. There are almost always real Mexicans eating here so that is a good sign that they are doing something right. Their pozole and menudo are good. Breakfast tacos are also good. give them a try when you’re in the area.

Ate here today with some guys from work pretty good Mexican food although one of the waitresses was rude and it took her a long time to bring us tortillas. Overall a good experience

Love this place is a hidden gem! Food is always great and waitersses are on top of their tables. Edit. The last 3 – 4 times I’ve been there food has been ok but service has been plain bad. And I’m pretty easy to please but when you have to ask for the same thing 3 times cause servers are chatting or they forget sides that come with your food and the answer when you ask for them is ‘oh you still want it?’ Yikes.

My husband and I started coming to this place since we were dating!.. It’s a small restaurant, full of tex-mex decorations around and on the tables, but the taste of the food is AMAZING!!! Very home-made! Not to mention that their tortillas are huge and of course home-made!.. They recently added Margaritas and Pinas Coladas, they are great and very cheap! Whenever we want Mexican Food we come here because you actually want to visit a restaurant and have excellent food. not just pay for the name of the place or their decorations! I totally recommend this place!
