Tank’s Pizza

The customer service is wonderful, very friendly and helpful. I had the lunch buffet, which was very good– I just wish there were more choices, but it seemed like the kitchen couldn’t keep up with how many people were eating from the buffet. The stromboli with spinach and cheese inside was delicious and so was the dessert pizza! All around good experience.

Restaurant is so clean, even to a nurses standard! I had meatballs that were so full of flavor, it’s amazing! Salad is fresh and pizza dough is homemade. The tomatoes sauce is superb! I no complaints about this place, love it!

My calzone tasted okay, but the waitress acted like I was bothering her.
Won’t be back.

I stopped in when I saw this place while driving by. It was just opening, and I was the first customer in the door, and I was greeted by friendly staff, waiting on quickly, and they had pizza ready in the buffet line within minutes. The drink comes separately from the buffet, and is served in cans (soft drinks anyway) They are located fight across from the military post, so they serve a lot of patrons who serve our country. Kudos to them for that!
This is a mom-​and-​pop type place, not a chain store, so be prepared for that. It is a bit rustic.

Came here with the kids and we order a medium supreme and the kids a pepperoni pizza. And myself and step daughter order chicken Alfredo to share. The drinks got to us late and it took close to 20 min to get our pizza and we didn’t get our chicken Alfredo plate because they had to go out to buy milk. (We got there 20 min after it opened) So me and her had to wait to eat. We get it 10 min later and we ordered another medium pizza thinking the kids were going to eat more because they finished the 1^st pizza. Which the chicken Alfredo was not that great and lacked flavor. the second pizza we ordered took 20 min to order and when we told them we want to cancel and go. she keeps saying «oh.but it’s in the oven… It’s already in the oven. «so we wait longer to get it to go. So totally we were here about a hour and 30 min. Mind you, there was only us and one other family at another table. I can only imagine how it would be if there were more people at more tables.
Then our pizza comes out and we are in line to pay and people at the one other table with us are cutting in line and I get frustrated telling them that we were waiting in line for a while and want to pay now to leave. A man behind us even got impatient from people pushing way and taking forever that he left.
We will not be coming back and just stick with chain pizza restaurants. The poor girl didn’t seem to experienced being hostess for only 2 tables and being cashier.

Just left Tanks, amazing customer service. What a great location to eat go with friends. We all had a calzone with different toppings and man were they 10 times better then expected. Not only where they delicious, the presentation was great. The owner even came out to greet us and had a quick chat, great family man. Can’t wait to go back and try the pizza. I definitely recommend this place! Oh almost forgot the atmosphere is soothing and comfortable with a little feeling of Europe.

! They made a mistake and delivered to me even though I am outside of the delivery area. Owner delivered the food and was super nice, I’ll make sure to hit up the restaurant now since it’s definitely worth the drive :)

What can I say? Food was excellent! I got a calzone which was fresh and nmarinara was just enough acidity and flavor to it. The bread was fresh and crispy. My boyfriend got the meatball sub which was omg delicious! Meatballs were so delectable plenty of cheese and marinara sauce. Now the bread .wow! So perfectly crusted on the outside and inside was so pillowy soft!
I would definitely recommend this place to many many others! Oh yeah if you live within 5mi of this place they deliver 5−9pm!

We really love this place the pizza is so good and the wings with the homemade dressing it’s also BYOB so in all its a cool place with a bad ass staff it really is your loss if you don’t try it

Move on… nothing to see here. Slow to get food. Pizza was undercooked and skimped on cheese.

I got the calzone with jalapeños, pepperoni, sausage, and ham. It was delicious it doesn’t come with marinara sauce in the inside like some places. It’s good on the side and it taste great on the calzone. The price is a little expansive but about the same as other places for calzone. I have not had the pizza. The environment is pretty awesome. They do have an outside area to eat which sounds nice for eating at nice. I got it to go so I don’t have anything to say about customer service. Overall I give it a 3.5 for price (only on the calzone) but i can’t so I round it off to 4 for taste and size.

First time here and let me start by saying how awesome the staff is. Mari was our waitress and we never ran out of drinks, napkins, salad dressing, not a thing was missing the entire time we dined. Thanks Mari! My husband and I lived near by for many years and always wanted to try this place and I can’t believe we waited so long. The pizza is amazing the salad is fresh and the wings are great. My favorite was the mozzarella sticks oh my gosh! I could have eaten them for dinner! The marinara sauce is fresh and homemade. The sticks were perfectly fried to perfection and so good. This place is a hidden gem and I’m glad we finally tried it. We will be back. Our kids said «why don’t we come here more often mom»? We will from now on! Thanks for the great service. You must try the mozzarella sticks! Get two orders!

Great food. I can’t say it was the best tasting pizza, but it definitely wasn’t the worst. For having a pizza buffet, the pizza tasted great. It also came with a small garden salad that tasted very good. The environment was phenomenal and being so close to Ft Sam Houston made going out for lunch an easy trip. It’s not too big of a place, but big enougg that you could have a small office party/​going away in (30 – 40 people). If I had to choose which slice of all that I tried was the best it would be thier spicy meats pizza. The spicyness actually surprised me, like it was hidden in the sauce, or meat or dough. Not that I didn’t like this, I thought this was awesome because it added extra flavor. It was like my taste buds were like a child in a candy store, so many sensations.

I like this place. The place is cool. First of all they have decorated this building in my style. There is art on the walls, they used the air unit as a piece of ambiance and the floors are the high gloss painted cement. Hard rock is playing in the background. Musclecar tv is on and they have the closed captioning on just for me. They offer a buffet which includes pizza, salad and pasta. The manager made me a spinach pizza special too. I can tell this place is a crowd favorite because it is off the beaten path yet it is popping and crowded in here. The pizza was good, hand tossed with a buttery garlic crunch on the crust edge. I am a pizza snob and while it was not the best ever it was spot on for the price. The staff is very nice too. Honest not snobby workers.

After a subpar dinner somewhere else, we found this place on Unilocal and stopped in. Ordered a takeout pepperoni pizza and sat down to wait for it. The staff and patrons were awesome. They were genuine and gave lots of recommendations of things to do. Food was yummy. I would recommend this place to anyone and would go back again if I ever came back to Texas.

Very friendly staff and spark up a conversation right away with them. We order a pepperoni pie to go and the pice was slice perfect. Easy to fold too which is a plus when it comes to pizza for me. I wouldn’t mind returning the next time I am town either and recommend others who visit San Antonio to stop in and grab a pizza too.

Pretty good pizza. Great house-​made marinara and Fabulous bread (the sub sandwiches). This is a friendly, casual spot that has a back patio with potential for large groups.
I recommend the meatball sliders. They’re served on delicious flatbread and smothered in Tank’s house marinara. Possibly the best item on the menu.

Exceptional pizza! I ordered a medium Flamethrower (spicy sausage, pepperoni, onion, bell pepper, and lots of jalapeños). Holy wow!!! Very satisfying ratio between toppings to dough… but that dough was the star of the show! A little thicker than New York style pizza, but if you’re a person who usually eats everything but the pizza crust, you won’t be doing that with Tank’s pizzas. That chewy and crisp combo was so addicting, I’m pretty sure I would’ve eaten half a pizza if I didn’t consciously force myself to stop eating. It’s that good!
The price is a little bit more than most mediocre pizza parlors, but you get what you pay for. I also love that local businesses like these are supporting the military in the area.

Finally got a chance to visit Tanks, and I’m glad I did! Delicious pizza! Everything is made from scratch and cooked in a stone brick oven. Will return to try the calzones. Very nice family owned place.
Just a side note: The restaurant is named after a dog named Tank :) A must try!

AWESOME pizza. They deliver to Fort Sam Houston which is all I needed to know! Their pizza has the perfect crust, perfect amount of sauce and is totally delicious. My husband and I won’t be ordering from anywhere else anymore!
