Very hipster & indie bar in San Antonio. They host a lot of live acts like Tyler the Creator and it’s in a spot of town where people don’t bother you about petty sh**. Large outdoor patio smoking area and decent size interior(pretty divey tho!) … Small parking lot so people end up parking on the street(free) and all around the block so be prepared if you’re driving. Lot of cyclists too so if you’re into that then find a spot to lock up and enjoy the tunes. Only been here once w/friend but it struck me as a rocker bar; not really my thing but seemed good place to watch a band. Try their vodka pickle shots; sounds gross but actually kinda good.

I fancied myself a live music expert in high school, and most of the shows I frequented were here– a recent visit back home confirms that it’s still the same old place with lineups geared toward the same crowd and sound, complete with the same decades-old angry rabbit mural behind the stage. I get the nod to the venue name, but wish they’d cover it up as it distracts from the musicians, but would love to see it simply moved, as it has sentimental value. Drinks here are surprisingly cheap considering most of the people here aren’t of drinking age, but the friendliness of the bartender depends on what side of the bed they woke up on that day because I’ve experienced inconsistent service. Glad to see the staple pizza place is now it’s own actual business– nothing better after a night of sweating it out in the pit. Chill spot but needs a facelift and a thorough cleaning. Wish there was a better bathroom situation though.

I honestly hadn’t been to White Rabbit in years, but Cage the Elephant brought me out. There are some things this venue does right: dos X and pabst tall boys for $ 5, easy access and parking, really affordable ticket prices, and intimate show space with warehouse style doors that open to the outside. Now for my complaints: the bathroom situation leaves a lot to be desired. One outdoor unisex stall and the other bathroom I couldn’t even navigate to because it is right to the side of the stage. Don’t drink too many tall boys or you will regret it. It’s pretty hot on the interior. Thank goodness for the outdoor air or it would be unmanageable. Dress more like going to an outdoor festival and you will be fine. The acoustics are not terrible, but are more in line with a bar type set up. Overall if there is someone that you want to see here it’s worth it, and I will support any live music venues in this city.

This is the type of place I prefer to see most concerts; small and up-close-and personal. No security blocking you from the stage, and everyone is able to be relatively close to the bands. There’s a portion that is outdoors too where you can hang out between bands or while you wait before hand(or even watch the show from out there but the view isnt as great as inside). Drinks were surprisingly inexpensive. I’m used to paying $ 9 for beer at most house of blues but I want to say beers were about $ 3 each here? Wasn’t expecting that, but very pleased.

I’m not a live music expert, but whenever Taking Back Sunday comes to town my sister in law have a tradition of going to see them at White Rabbit. We just can’t get enough of being the oldest concert goers in the entire venue. It’s somewhat open air, with the stage, standing room, and bar area being covered. I was pleasantly surprised to see a little food tent putting out sausage wraps and such this last time — it was at least new to me. And who doesn’t like a little snack with their beer? The bathroom situation is pretty gross, water bottles out of the vending machine are $ 2, and closed-toe shoes are definitely a must. But, I feel like WR is a San Antonio institution. The staff is always friendlier than you’d expect at a place like this, and the young’ns surprisingly abide by general concert etiquette.

This indoor, small venue usually has bands from the rock, metal, punk genre. The pit can get pretty wild sometimes. A lot of crowd surfing. Sound is great. Small outside area with a few tables, benches, and souvenir stand. You get very close to bands. Skinny barrier between band and crowd. Good views from all over the venue.

I liked the venue. Small but with definitely character. We saw the Suicide Girls here and to be fair they could make any venue worth bearing. That aside, the drinks were affordable and there were multiple bars set up. Decent amount of room, easy to find and parking all over the area for free. The staff handled their business well. If I were reviewing the bathroom here I’d give it 1-star. Or zero. That was just awful.

Silversun Pickups were great! Although the staff was nice, it was impossible to get to the restroom. Water dripping from the ceiling. Not enough trash cans so beer cans were littered in corners. Giving 3 stars because the were able to book a great band.

Saw AWOLNation here there other night. Prior to this show, I hadn’t been to the Rabbit in over 10 years. The show was great, the place is tiny but it does get quite crowded. I can’t imagine going to a show here in the summer considering there’s no AC. While they open up the garage doors, have fans/blowers, it would be unbelievably hot. The drinks and pizza are reasonably priced. The bar seemed to be under-staffed but those working moved quickly. I’ll go back for a band I like but not in the summer.

I had a bad time at a show here last night. This venue has no ATM and will not give cash back. The closest ATM was 4 blocks away, so I walked through a sketchy neighborhood alone because my under 21 friends could not leave once we got inside. By the time I got back with cash, I had missed the VIP meet and greet and they would not let me go back outside to my car to take the merchandise I had just purchased. They have a large beer selection and it is reasonably priced, but they don’t stock more of the most popular kinds, so they ran out of Dos Equis before even half of the show was over. Freaking get an ATM!!!

So I went back and forth from three stars to four stars for a good five minutes. I’m a bit biased I suppose. The White Rabbit played such a significant part in my adolescent years and will always have a special place in my heart. Today however it seems to have lost its charm. I really try to avoid the White Rabbit when it comes to national bands. It gets way too crowded and too hot especially in the summer. Maybe I’m just getting old? lol Dislikes: –having Port(a)potty’s… instead of fixing the previous restroom stalls which in the last couple of months have remained closed and smell horrible around them. –The stage can really use some updating. After the husband finished a recent set I decided to help get his stuff off the stage. The ramp down has torn carpet and had a very unpleasant run down. –No AC, sure the venue opens up to let air in but were in SA. It’s always or close to really hot all the time. –This place really needs a liquor license. Liquor makes everything better. :0) — Also, the last couple of times we were greeted by kids(15/16ish) carded by and paid them. A bit strange again maybe me getting old… Likes: –This place has been open for years(and stayed open). It has seen all kinds of acts. –Artslam! –Beer is cheap. — The sound is usually done pretty well. –Patio is nice. — You have a pretty good view from the bar without getting into the crowd. Sigh, again me getting old lol.

Admittedly it’s been a handful of years since I’ve been to this venue, but last night I decided to check out the ARTSLAM! I remember way back when, when they were just starting the Artslam and they only had 5 or so artist. Now this monthly event has easily over 20 local artist pounding out one of a kind pieces on the premises for sale. I was truly taken aback by how many amazing San Antonio artists I’ve been oblivious to all these years. Needless to say I snagged a few works and will keep my eyes peeled for the next months theme. In true music venue fashion, they had 4 or so bands play from Austin/San Antonio to accompany the amazing art which I really enjoyed. This is a MUST for all San Antonians to support local talent and local businesses! Cover is $ 6, all ages welcome, and doors are open from 7pm-2am. I suggest taking cash because only about half of the artist have credit card processing capabilities, and make sure that you bring a bag because they typically don’t like for the patrons to enter and exit the grounds.

The pizza here is perfect! Crust isn’t too thick or thin and they are never stingy with the toppings. They have an old jukebox from the 80s that they are trying to sell for $ 900. The pizza here isn’t very expensive either.

Where have you been White Rabbit? I use to hear about all touring the bands, come across nameless fliers of promoting bands and now I have to make the effort to drive by to read the mar key to see who’s coming that month. So many years have come and go, there is such nostalgia about the WR. I wish you’d come back and bring those amazing most talked about shows in Texas(and hard liquor license). We need you!

We were starving and once we were inside the White Rabbit grounds this is the only place to eat. So we went there by default. And dang I’m glad we did… this place is GOOD!!! We ordered a medium pizza to share between the three of us and it was plenty… and only $ 10; with the sodas and water the total was $ 15. So $ 5 a person? That’s a heck of a deal. Plus the pizza was fantastic… we ordered just pepperoni and it was greasy but good! A thin crust that was crispy and chewy and hot and fresh… and it only took about 15 minutes I think. They don’t have slices but if we go again I’m ordering a medium just for me because I can eat some pizza and I don’t wanna share!!! You can either go in and out through the front door… or if you’re at a concert you can use the back door. But if you’re at a concert don’t go out the front… you won;t be allowed back in!

Surprised to see so many low marks for a venue that has kept its doors open for so long bringing in musical acts of all kinds and making San Antonio a possible stopping point for musical acts driving thru central Texas before getting to Austin. By admission, the venue books musical acts I would normally pass on. But there’s rarely a month that goes by where I don’t see something on their listing that I feel like checking out. To see a place like this close in San Antonio would be a shame and I would stress anyone who has an appreciation of supporting«local» to see what they have to offer. A few incredible performances I’ve seen here in recent years: Street Light Manifesto and the Rentals.

The first time I went there it was because I was playing with my band. First of all it wasn’t really our scene, but hey, if you like music it doesn’t matter. We had to setup in a crappy room with the fluorescent lights all on, which really killed the mood. I felt like I was playing in the middle of Wal-Mart. Their sound techs were lame so unless you plan on playing on the main stage I really suggest not playing there at all. As a guest, I guess its ok to go with friends and check out the same old metal-core music that San Antonio seems to exclusively have. Its ok, but they’re a dime a dozen. Personally the place is a dump and not worth going to.

This place kind of sucks. Not only is it in a shady and dark part of San Antonio, but I have no idea why bands play here. Last time I was here was in 2007. I had bought tickets to see Nightwish during their first tour with their new singer Annette. I was so excited I bought tickets as soon as they announced the tour dates. It was November so it was still pretty warm at night time. The venue is open so there is no A/C. I was dying the whole time! The crowd wasn’t too crazy, but I could see that there wasn’t a lot of security. My purse did not get checked and neither did anyone else’s. Nightwish was awesome, but this venue is just meh.
